This transcription was made from a black and white microfilm of the mauscript, which is held at the Sarasvati Bhavan Library of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University in Varanasi. It extends from the beginning of the Jātisamuddeśa to near the end of the commentary on verse 15 of the Dravyasamuddeśa. It is very closely correlated with the manuscript held at the University of Göttingen (D1 and D2), breaking off at the same place in the text. The scribe of the latter part of the manuscript does not distinguish ba from va; it has been transcribed as ba where contextually appropriate.

aśrute tu kriyāpade dvayī gatiḥ | kvacit saṃbaṃdhisvarūpamahimnaiva kriyāpekṣasiddheḥ pratiniyatakriyākārakabhāvapūrvakatvaṃ śeṣasaṃbaṃdhasya vinaiva karmapravacanīyam avagamyate | tad yathā upagor apatyaṃ vṛkṣasya śākhetyādāv apatyāpatyavatsaṃbaṃdho janikriyānimitto vayavāsya visaṃbaṃdha avaschitikriyānimitta ityādi kvacit tu saṃbaṃdhānāṃ pratiniyatakriyāpūrvakatvāvadhāraṇe nāsti sāmarthyaṃ tad yathā Lrājñaḥ puruṣa ity atra svasvāmibhāvo bharaṇādyanekakriyānimitta ity evāvagamyate kriyāviśeṣo nnāvadhāryate tannimittabhūtaḥ tathā ca bhāṣyaṃ yad etas tvaṃ nāma tac caturbhiḥ prakārair bhavati bharaṇād apaharaṇāt krayaṇād yāścayeti dānādīnāṃ tv ananyatavinābhāvāt kriyānumīyata eva kvacit svavinābhāvinī kriyāpi na pratīyate tathā caivaṃ jātī eke viṣaye karmapravacanīyo niyataviśiṣṭakriyākṛtatvasaṃbaṃdhasya viśeṣam avagamayati | tad uktaṃ | janayitvā kriyāṃ kāṃcit saṃbaṃdhaṃ vinivarttate | śrūyamāṇe kriyāśabde prabaṃdho jñāyate kvacit | sa copajātaḥ saṃbaṃdho vinivṛtte kriyāpade | karmapravacanīyena yatra tatra niyamyate iti | niyamas tasya niyatakriyājanitatvaṃ | Ltathā hi śākalyasya saṃhitām anu prāvarṣat_ iti dyo yaṃ saṃhitāpravarṣaṇayor hetuhetumadbhāvalakṣaṇaḥ saṃbaṃdhaḥ sa niyatakriyājanita ity anunā vedyate | anuniśamyety atrātor niśamayatikriyāsāhacaryopalabdher iha saṃpātarūpatvāt saṃhitāyās tadanumānasyaucityāt tatra kriyāvacanatvam asyānyatra dṛṣṭaśakter na kalpyaṃ
dyotyārthaniṣṭhaṃ ca dyotakatvam iti | tad api kriyāpadāprayogād atra nāsti na ca kriyāpadākṣepakatvaṃ yathā pradeśaṃ viparilikhatīty atra ca lekhanāsamatvayānupapatter pi mātikriyākṣepakatvaṃ | kārakavibhaktir yatra prādeśam iti dvitīye niyuktas tatsamuccitakriyākṣepaḥ iha tu saṃhitām iti śaiṣikīyaṃ vibhaktir iti kathaṃ kriyākṣepaḥ kriyākārakayor eva parasparam ākṣepyākṣepakabhāvasyāvinābhāvena nyāyyatvāt | tad yathā praviśa Lpiṇḍīm ityādau | nāpi saṃbaṃdhavācitvam atrānoḥ vibhaktyaiva tadabhidhānād iti saṃbaṃdhāvachedakasya pratyāyako nānyaḥ saṃbhavatīti pāriśeṣyād anor atra sāmarthyām adhyavasīyate | tad uktaṃ | kriyāyā dyotako nāyaṃ saṃbaṃdhasya na vācakaḥ | nāpi kriyāpadākṣepī saṃbaṃdhasya tu bhedaka iti | bhedako viśeṣako dyotaka ity arthaḥ | ayam atra bhāvaḥ | yad ananyathāsiddhaṃ tatrānor vyāpārakalpanā yuktā | yat punar anyathārthasāmarthyādinā sidhyati na tatra tasya śaktiḥ kalpayituṃ pāryate iti padāṃtarāṇām arthāṃtaraniveśāt saṃbaṃdhaviśeṣasya tato navagatasya karmapravacanīyaviṣayatā siddhā | nanu ca yad atrādhikyaṃ vākyārthaḥ sa iti kriyāviśeṣajanitatvalakṣaṇaḥ saṃbaṃdhasyāvachedo vākyārthaḥ kim iti na kathyate | anos tu paścāt_bhāvamātravṛttitvam eveti |
atrocyate | ihādhikyaṃ vākyārthatvenocyaLmānaṃ padārthapṛṣṭhapātitvenaivānusaraṇīyaṃ na tu padārthoktatvety anena tattadvākyopāttasya hi sādhyasya vā viśeṣyasya vaupāttair eva sādhanair viśeṣaiś ca saṃsargas tatrādhikyaṃ | tad yathā | gāṃ śuklām ānaya | nīlotpalam iti ca ata evocyate | āśrayāśrayiṇor vākyāt_ niyamas tv avatiṣṭhate iti | iyaṃ cānupātrasyaiva padārthasya vākyārthāt pratītir nāstīti na saṃbaṃdhāvachedo trāpadārtho vākyārtha śakyate kalpayitum iti karmapravacanīyaviṣaya evāyaṃ | yad vakṣyati | nimittaniyamaḥ śabdāt saṃbaṃdhasya na gṛhyate karmapravacanīyais tu svaviśeṣe varudhyate iti | atra ca darśanadvayaṃ svarūpeṇaiva saṃbaṃdhāṃtaravilakṣaṇa karmapravacanīyena saṃbaṃdho schiyate kriyāviśeṣajanitatvena veti tatra | svarūpeṇāvachedeśe viṣayakriyājanitatvapratītiḥ saṃbaṃdhiviśeṣaparyābhāvenālabhyā | tathā hi | adhibrahmadatte yaṃdhāLlā iti tv asvāgnibhāvo yaṃ saṃbaṃdha ity adhinā vedyate | brahmadattaś ca svāmīśvaraḥ pāṃcālāś ca janapada svam iti tayoḥ saṃbaṃdhinoḥ paripālanakarādānādikriyāprabhāvita eva saṃbaṃdho nyāyya ity avagamyate | evam abhimanyur arjunataḥ pratīti prasinā sāṃdṛśyalakṣaṇo yaṃ saṃbaṃdha iti dyotyate | sa punaḥ saṃbaṃdhisvarūpaparyālocanād atra saṃpraharaṇādikriyākṛta ity avagamyate | itthaṃ va śākalyasaṃhitām anu prāvarṣad ity atrāpi hetuphalabhāvo nāmāyaṃ saṃbaṃdha ity etāpaty evām anur viśrāmyati pāṭha_viśeṣarūpatvān saṃhitāyā niśamanakriyāvagatiḥ śabdaśravaṇena hi devo varṣad iti saṃbaṃdhimahimno viśiṣṭhe kriyāprabhāvitatvam avasī ete | kecid iyān anor eva vyāpāra ity āhuḥ
svarūpāvachede pi va kriyāyāḥ kāryābhūtasaṃbaṃdhāpekṣayātītatāt karma proktavaṃta ity arthaḥ | samaṃ nety eva castutaḥ kriyāphalasyaiva Lsaṃbaṃdhasya prakāśanāśyathā tu tatrabhavatubhartṛharekṣatra tatrābhiprāyo lakṣyate | tathā nimittaviśeṣāvacheda eva karmapravacanīyakṛta iti gaddhāṃtaḥ | adhibrahmadatte paṃcālā iti paripālanakriyāhitatvaṃ svasvāmibhāvasyādhinā vyajyate | abhimanyur arjunataḥ pratīty an_ parājayādikṛto nukāryānukaraṇabhāvaḥ pratinā prakāśyata ityādi sarvatra yojyaṃ | sustutam atistutam ityādau tu suḥ majāyām atir atikramaṇetyādinā karmapravacanīyasaṃjñādhikārikāṃ svārthanirapekṣaivopasargasaṃjñābādhanāya pravartate | yathoktaṃ karmapravacanīyatvaṃ kriyāyoge vidhīyate | ṣatvād iti nivṛtyartha svātyādīnāṃ hi dharmiṇām iti | arthena tu rūpe vibhāge prastute kriyāviśeṣāvadyotakatvād upasargapade svatyādir aṃtarbhavati nāvyāptiḥ | tad ekaṃ vākyād ayodhriyamāṇasya vadasyāpoddhārārthaviśeṣāśrayeṇa yathāsaṃbhavaṃ bheLdo niraṃśakavākyacyutyatyupāyabhūtaḥ pradarśitaḥ | ata eva svādipadaṃ vākyacyutyatyanaṃgatvā chāstre saṃketitaṃ suvaṃtaṃ padaṃ cyutyatyupāyabhūtaṃ nehar gaṇanārhaṃ prakṛtipratyavad iti dṛṣṭāṃtapakṣanikṣiptam iti nāvyāpti na padān kilāsāv apoddhāro na vākyāt_

vadārthānām apoddhāro jātir vā dravyam eva vā |
padārthau sarvaśabdānāṃ nityāv ecopavarṇitau |
arthadvāreṇa padaṃ pararīkṣyata iti darśanabhedenam prathamam apoddhārapadārthavicāraḥ |tathā hi | sarveṣām api śabdānāṃ padarūpāṇāṃ nāmākhyātādisvabhāvānāṃ jātibādimatejātir evārtho na dravyam | dravyavādimate tu dravyam eva na jātiḥ| dvitīyena vāśabdena padārthāṃtaraṃ sūcitaṃ jātiviśiṣṭadravyābhidhānam iti | ata eva tad eva saṃkalanārūpaṃ padārthānāṃ iti viL"tisphuṭī | adyathā vārthe prakrāṃte vārthopasaṃhāro ayaṃ nopapadyate tadvad atidhāne tv anabhidhānaṃtāvad dvayor api samānam tāvad dvayor api samānam viramya vyāpārābhāvāc chabdasya kāryāstṛ tu jātidravyayor guṇapradhānyabhāvaḥ | yad vā prādhādhānyenaiva abhinupapdyate tathā pāṇiniabhidarśane jātidravye śabdenābhidhīyete ity ayam atra pakṣaḥ padārthāv ity uktaḥ tatra nāmapadasya gaur ity āder gotvādijātiniyatakriyāviṣayasādhanaikārthasamavetasaṃkhyājātiviśeṣanabhāṣatām āpannabhidheyā anāśrayāyā jāter anupapatteḥ sāmarthyaḥ pratītaṃ dravyam |
evam ākhyātasyāpi vibhinnakriyālakṣaṇaḥ samavetābhinnābhidhānapratyayahetukriyājātiviṣayā sākṣād vācakaśaktiḥ | kārakādijātis tv atra guṇabhūtā nāmapadagatayā vakakārakajātyā kriyājātir ākhyātapadagatā vyaktidvāreṇa samanvayam eti dravyajātis tv ekārthasamavāyāt cavyaktātmanā śaktimukhenaiva kriyānvayam etītiLsarvapadārthasamanvayopapattau kalpate vākyārthaḥ yathā cotkṣepaṇādikṣaṇair saramayunāvibhir apy āvṛttyotkṣepaṇādijātir abhivyajyate tathādhiśrayaṇādibhiḥ kriyākṣaṇaiḥ pacatyādikriyājātir iti vicārayiṣyate | vyakti dvārakaṃ cāsya nityāyā api sādhyatvam upapadyate |
upasargādir apy atra darśane nāmākhyātasahabhāvī tad arthasya viśeṣāvadyotakatvāj jātipadārtha eva viśeṣasya viśiṣṭaviśrāntasyaikāvasāyāt karmapravacanīyo 'pi saṃbandhajātiniṣṭha eva guṇaśabdānām api śuklādīnāṃ guṇajātir vācyā saṃjñāśabdānām api ḍitthādiśabdānāṃ jātivācitvaṃ samarthayiṣyate |
tarhija vājapyāyanācāryamatena sārvatrikī jātipadārthavyavasthopapadyate | pyāvyāḍimate tu sarvaśabdānāṃ dravyam arthaḥtasyaiva sākṣāt kriyāsamanyatropapatter vākyārthovagatayā codanāviṣayatvāt yathāha |Lcodanāsu ca tasyāraṃbhād iti ekajātisamatvayavaśena cātra saṃketopapattiḥ anabhidhīyamānāpi jātir upalakṣaṇākriyate śabdārthe yathā gṛhādau kākādiḥ | ākhyāte 'pi ca sādhanādhāradravya prādhānyaṃ vyāḍimate devadattaḥ pacatīti dravyeṇaiva sākṣāt sāmānādhikaraṇyopapatteḥ kriyā anuguṇabhūtātra vyāpārāviṣṭaṃ hi dravyam ākhyātārthaḥ idaṃ tad iti sarvanāmapratyavamarśayogyaṃ vā dravyam iti sārvatrikīyaṃ vyavasthātathā ca vakṣyati | dravyadharmā padārthe tu dravye sarvo 'rtha ucyate iti ata eva ca śuklādīnām api dravyapadārthatā siddhāṃ tat tadupādhivyavacchinnaṃ vā brahma dravyaśabdavācyaṃ sarvaśabdānāṃ viṣaya iti vakṣyata eva vyaktiparyāṃ vā dravyaśabda iti |jātivyaktivikalpena sarvaśabdaviṣayaḥ | tathā ca sarvaśabdānām ity abhidhānāt padādLapy apoddhāre makṛtipratyayarūpasyāpi śabdasya yathā yoṣaṃ kriyākārakasaṃkhyādi apoddhārapadārtho jātivyaktibhedena samāmnātaḥ | ubhayasyāpi vā śabdāt pratīter ubhayaṃ padārthaḥguṇapradhānabhāvabhedānvayas tu matavikalpaḥ nityatvopavarṇanaṃ ca siddhe śabdārthasaṃbandhaity atra bhāṣye yasmiṃs tattvaṃ na vihanyate iti dravyasyāpi nityatvaṃ pravāhanityatayā śabdāt sadaiva pratīteḥ |
