sarvabhūtānāṃ kāraṇam akāraṇaṃ satvarajastamo kṣaṇlakṣaṇam aṣṭarūm akhilasyacsya jagataḥ saṃbhavahetur avyaktannāma | tad ekam anekeṣāṃ kṣetrajñānām adhiṣṭhānaṃ | samudra ivādakaujasām bhāvānān
tasmād avyaktāmmahān uctpadyate talliṅga eva | talliṅgāc ca matastallakṣaṇa evāhaṅkāra utpadyate | sa trividhau vaikārikastejaso bhūtādir iti | tatra vaikārikād ahaṃkārāt tallakṣaṇāny evaikādaśendriyāṇy utpadyante | tad yathā śrotratvakcackṣujihvāghrāṇovāgmastopasthapāyupādamanāṃsīti | tatra pūrvāṇi pañca buddhīndriyāṇi | itarāṇi pañca karmendriyāṇi | ubhayātmackam manaḥ | bhūtādes tallakṣaṇāny eva pañcatanmātrāṇy utpadyante || tad yathā || śabdatanmātraṃ sparśatanmā rūpatanmātraṃ rasatanmātraṃ gandhatanmātram iti || tebhyo bhūtāni vyomanilānalajalorvyas tebhyastadviśeṣāḥ | śacbdasparśarūparasagandhāḥ | evam etāni caturviṅśati tatvāni vyākhyātāni bhavanti |
tatra buddhīndriyāṇāṃ śabdādayo viṣayāḥ | karmecndriyāṇāṃ yathāsaṃkhyavacanānānandavisargaviharaṇāni ||
avyaktam mahān ahaṅkāraḥ pañcatanmātrāṇi | ceṣṭaty aṣṭau prakṛtayaḥ | śeṣāḥ ṣoḍaśa vikārāḥ
svaṃ svaṃś caiṣāṃ viṣaye vibhutvaṃ || svayam adhyātmadhidevan tuc | atha buddhe brahmī | ahaṅkārasyeśvaraḥ manasaś candramāḥ diśaḥ śrotrasya | tvaco vāyuḥ sūryaś cakṣuṣaḥ rasanasyāpaḥ | pṛthivī ghrāṇacsya | vācogniḥ hastayor indraḥ | pādayor viṣṇuḥ | pāyor mitraḥ prajāpatir upasthasyeti |
tatra sarvva evācetana eṣa vargaḥ | puruṣaś ca pañcaviṅśatiś cetayitā | sa tu karaṇakāryasamprayuktāḥ | satyapyācaitanye pracdhānasya puruṣakaivalyārthām pravṛttam upadiśanti | kṣīrādīṃś cātra henudāharanti |

tatra kāraṇānurūpaṃ kāryam iti kṛtvā sarva ecvaite viśoṣāḥ | satvarajastamomayā bhavanti || tadañjanatvāt tanmayatvāc ca | tadguṇa eva puruṣo bhavatītyeke bhāṣante ||
vaidike tu svabhāvo niyatiḥ kālaḥ pariṇāmastatheśvaraḥ | yadṛccheti ca manyante prakṛtiṃ pṛthudarśinacḥ |
tato jātāni bhūtāni tadguṇāny eva nirdiśet || tebhyas tallakṣaṇoḥ kṛtsno bhūgrām aprajāyate |
tasyopayogobhi hitañ cikitsāmprati c sarvadā || bhūtebhyoṣiparet tasmān nāsti cintā cikitsite ||
yato bhihitan tat sambhavadravyasamūho bhūtādir ukta iti | bhautikāni cendriyāṇy āyurvede varṇyante tathaivendriyārthaḥ ||
bhavati cātra ||
indriyair iyandriyārthan tu svaṃ svaṅ gṛhṇāti mācnavaḥ |
niyatan tulyayonitvān nānyenānyam iti sthitiḥ ||
na cāyurvedaśāstreṣūpadiśyante sarvagatākṣetrajñā nityāś ca asarvagatecṣu ca kṣetrajñeṣv anityeṣu ca puruṣakhyāpakāṃ hetūn tudāharanti | āyurvedasiddhāntād asarvagatā kṣetrajñā'n ity āś ca tiryagyonimānuṣadeveṣu ca sañcaranti | dharmādharmanimittan ta ete numān agrāhyāś carācḥ || paramasūkṣmāś cetati nāvantaḥ | śāśvatāḥ śukrārttavayos sa sannipāteṣv abhivyajyante | yato bhihitam pañcamahābhūtaḥ śarīrisamavācyaḥ puruṣa iti || sa khalv eṣa karmapuruṣacikitsāyām adhikṛtaḥ |
tasya khalu sukhaduḥkhecchādveṣaprapannaḥ prāṇāpānau nimeṣonmeṣau buddhir manaḥ | saṃkalpo vicārariṇānusmṛtijñānam adhyavasāyo vicṣayopalabdhiś ca guṇāḥ ||
sātvikās tu ānṛśaṃsyaṃ samvibhāgarucitātikṣāsatyaṃ dharma āstikyaṃ jñānaṃ buddhir medhā dhṛtir anabhicṭhaṅga ca || rājasās tu duḥkhabahulatā pradānaṃ duḥśīlatvam akāruṇyam ānṛtikatvaṃ ahaṃkaro dambho māno harṣaḥ | kāmakrodhaś ceti || masās tu viśādinvanstikyam adharmaśīlatā buddhinirodhojñānaṃ durmedhastvam akacrmaśīlatā nidrālutvañ ceti ||
antarikṣās tu śabdaḥ sarvendriyaṃ sarvacchidrasamūho viviktatā ca || vāyavyās tu spaṣarśaḥ || sparśendriyacsarvaceṣṭāsamūhaḥ sarvaśarīraspandanalaghutā ca || tejasās tu rūpaṃ rūpendriyaṃ varṇṇaḥ santāpo bhrājiṣṭutāpaktir amarṣak tat taikṣṇyañ ca || āpyās tu rasārasendriyaṃ sarvadravasamūho gurutā śaityaṃ sneho retaś ca c || pārthivās tu gandho gandhendriyaṃ sarvamūrrtisamūho gurutā ca ||
