rogādhva pramadāmadya vyāyāmaiś cātipīḍanāt ||
ṛtusātmya viparyāsāt snehādīnāṃ ca vibhramāt |

hastyaśvoṣṭrair gacchato 'nyaiś ca vāyuḥ kopaṃ yātaḥ
kāraṇaiḥ sevitaiḥ svaiḥ | tīkṣṇoṣṇāmla kṣāra śākādi bhojyaiḥ saṃtāpādyair bhūyasā sevitaiś ca ||
kṣipraṃ raktaṃ duṣṭim āyāti
tac ca vāyor mārgaṃ saṃruṇaddhy āśu yātaḥ |
kruddho 'tyarthaṃ mārgarodhāt
sa vāyur atyudriktaṃ dūṣayed raktam āśu ||
tat saṃpṛktaṃ vāyunā dūṣitena tatprābalyād ucyate
vātaraktam | tadvat pittaṃ dūṣitenāsṛjāktaṃ śleṣmā duṣṭo dūṣitenāsṛjāktaḥ ||
sparśodvignau todabhedapraśoṣasvāpopetau vātaraktena
pādau | pittāsṛgbhyām ugradāhau bhavetām atyarthoṣṇau raktaśophau mṛdū ca ||
kaṇḍūmantau śvetaśītau saśophau pīnastabdhau śleṣmaduṣṭe
tu rakte | sarvair duṣṭe śoṇite cāpi doṣāḥ svaṃ svaṃ rūpaṃ pādayor darśayanti

prāgrūpe śithilau svinnau śītalau saviparyayau |
vaivarṇyatodasuptatvagurutvauṣasamanvitau ||
pādayor mūlam āsthāya kadācid dhastayor api | āsvor viṣam
iva kruddhaṃ tad deham anusarpati ||
ājānusphuṭitaṃ yac ca prabhinnaṃ prasrutaṃ ca yat |
upadravaiś ca yajyuṣṭaṃ prāṇam āṃsakṣayādibhiḥ ||
śoṇitaṃ tad asādhyaṃ syād yāpyaṃ saṃvatsarotthitam | yadā
tu dhamanīḥ sarvāḥ kupito 'bhyeti mārutaḥ ||
tad ākṣipaty āśu muhur muhur dehaṃ muhuś caraḥ |
muhurmuhus tad ākṣepād ākṣepaka iti smṛtaḥ ||
so 'patānakasaṃjño yaḥ pātayaty antarā 'ntarā |
kaphānvito bhṛśaṃ vāyus tāsv eva yadi tiṣṭhati ||
sa daṇḍavat stambhayati kṛcchro daṇḍāpatānakaḥ |
hanugrahas tadā 'tyarthaṃ kṛcchrān niṣevate ||
dhanus tulyaṃ named yas tu sa dhanuḥstambhasaṃjñakaḥ |
aṅgulīgulphajaṭharahradvakṣogalasaṃśritaḥ ||
snāyupratānam anilo yadā++ākṣipati vegavān |
viṣṭabdhākṣaḥ stabdhahanur bhagnapārśvaḥ kaphaṃ vaman ||
abhyantaraṃ dhanur iva yadā namati mānavaḥ | tadā
'syābhyantarāyāmaṃ kurute māruto balī ||
bāhyasnāyupratānastho bāhyāyāmaṃ karoti ca | tamasād hy
aṃbudhāḥ prāhur vakṣaḥkaṭhyūrubhañjanam ||
kaphapittānvito vāyur vāyur eva ca kevalaḥ | kuryād
ākṣepakaṃ tv anyaṃ caturtham abhighātajam ||
garbhapātanimittaś ca śoṇitātisravāc ca yaḥ |
abhighātanimittaś ca na sidhyaty apatānakaḥ ||
adhogamāḥ satiryaggā dhamanīrūrdhvadehagāḥ | yadā
prakupito 'tyarthaṃ mātariśvā prapadyate ||
tadā 'nyatarapakṣasya sandhibandhān vimokṣayan | hanti
pakṣaṃ tamāhurhi pakṣāghātaṃ bhiṣagvarāḥ ||
yasya kṛtsnaṃ śarīrārdham akarmaṇyam acetanam | tataḥ
patasyasūn vā 'pi tyajaty anilapīḍitaḥ ||
śuddhavātahataṃ pakṣaṃ kṛcchrasādhyatamaṃ viduḥ |
sādhyamanyena saṃsṛṣṭamasādhyaṃ kṣayahetukam ||
vāyur ūrdhvaṃ vrajet sthānāt kupito hṛdayaṃ śiraḥ |
śaṅkhau ca pīḍayaty aṅgāny ākṣipen namayec ca saḥ ||
nimīlitākṣo niśceṣṭaḥ stabdhākṣo vā 'pi kūjati |
nirucchvāso 'thavā kṛcchrād ucchvasyān naṣṭacetanaḥ ||
svasthaḥ syād dhṛdaye mukte hyāvṛte tu pramuhyati |
kaphānvitena vātena jñeya eṣo 'patantrakaḥ ||
divāsvapnāsanasthānavivṛtādhvanirīkṣaṇaiḥ | manyāstambhaṃ
prakurute sa eva śleṣmaṇā++āvṛtaḥ ||
(garbhiṇīsūtikābālavṛddhakṣīṇeṣv asṛkkṣaye |) uccair
vyāharato 'tyarthaṃ svādataḥ kaṭhināni vā | hasato jṛmbhato bhārād viṣam
ācchayanād api ||
śironāsauṣṭhacibukalalāṭekṣaṇasandhigaḥ | ardayitvā 'nilo
vaktramarditaṃ janayaty ataḥ ||
vakrībhavati vaktrārdhaṃ grīvā cāpy apavartate | śiraś
calati vāksaṅgo netrādīnāṃ ca vaikṛtam ||
grīvācibukadantānāṃ tasmin pārśve tu vedanā |
yasyāgrajo romaharṣo vepathur netram āvilam ||
vāyur ūrdhvaṃ tvaci svāpas todo manyāhanugrahaḥ |
tam arditam iti grāhurvyādhiṃ vyādhiviśāradāḥ ||
kṣīṇasyānimiṣākṣasya prasaktaṃ saktabhāṣiṇaḥ | na
sidhyaty arditaṃ bāḍhaṃ trivarṣaṃ vepanasya ca ||
pārṣṇipratyaṅgulīnāṃ tu kaṇḍarā yā 'nilārditāḥ | sakthnaḥ
kṣepaṃ nigṛhṇīyād gṛdhrasīti hi sā smṛtā ||
talapratyaṅgulīnāṃ tu kaṇḍarā bāhupṛṣṭhataḥ | bāhvoḥ
karmakṣayakarī viśvācīti hi sā smṛtā ||
vātaśoṇitajaḥ śopho jānumadhye mahārujaḥ | śiraḥ
kroṣṭukapūrvaṃ tu sthūlaḥ kroṣṭukamūrdhavat ||
vāyuḥ kaṭyāṃ sthitaḥ sakthnaḥ kaṇḍarāmākṣipedyadā |
svañjas tadā bhavejjantuḥ, paṅguḥ sakthnordvayor vadhāt ||
prakrāman vepate yas tu svañjanniva ca gacchati |
kalāyasvañjaṃ taṃ vidyānmuktasandhiprabandhanam ||
nyaste tu viṣamaṃ(me) pāde rujaḥ kuryāt samīraṇaḥ |
vātakaṇṭaka ity eṣa vijñeyaḥ khaḍu(la)kāśritaḥ ||
pādayoḥ kurute dāhaṃ pittāsṛksahito 'nilaḥ | viśeṣataś
caṅkramaṇāt pādadāhaṃ tam ādiśet ||
hṛṣyataś caraṇau yasya bhavataś ca prasuptavat |
pādaharṣaḥ sa vijñeyaḥ kaphavātaprakopajaḥ ||
aṃsadeśasthito vāyuḥ śoṣayitvāṃ 'sabandhanam | sirāś
cākuñcya tatrastho janayaty avabāhukam ||
yadā śabdavahaṃ sroto vāyur āvṛtya tiṣṭhati | śuddhaḥ
śleṣmānvito vā 'pi bādhiryaṃ tena jāyate ||
hanuśaṅkhaśirogrīvaṃ yasya bhindann ivānilaḥ | karṇayoḥ
kurute śūlaṃ karṇaśūlaṃ taducyate ||
āvṛtya sakapho vāyur dhamanīḥ śabdavāhīnīḥ | narān karoty
akriyakān mūkaminmiṇagadgadān ||
adho yā vedanāṃ yāti varcomūtrāśayotthitā | bhindatīva
gudopasthaṃ sā tūnīty abhidhīyate ||
gudopasthotthitā saiva pratilomavisarpiṇī | vegaiḥ
pakvāśayaṃ yāti pratitūnīti sā smṛtā ||
sāṭopam atyugrarujam ādhmātam udaraṃ bhṛśam | ādhmānam
iti jānīyād ghoraṃ vātanirodhajam ||
vimuktapārśvahṛdayaṃ tad evāmāśayotthitam | pratyādhmānaṃ
vijānīyāt kaphavyākulitānilam ||
aṣṭhīlāvadghanaṃ granthim ūrdhvam āyatam unnatam |
vātāṣṭhīlāṃ vijānīyād bahir mārgavarodhinīm ||
enām eva rujāyuktāṃ vātaviṇmūtrarodhinīm | pratyaṣṭhīlām
iti vadej jāṭhare tiryag utthitām ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne vātavyādhinidānaṃ nāma prathamo
'dhyāyaḥ ||1 ||

athāto 'rśasāṃ nidānaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ ||
yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ ||
ṣaḍarśāṃsi bhavanti vātapittakaphaśoṇitasannipātaiḥ
sahajāni cet ||
tatrānātmavatāṃ yathoktaiḥ prakopaṇair
viruddhādhyaśanastrīprasaṅgotkaṭukāsanapṛṣṭhayānavvegavidhāraṇādibhir viśeṣaiḥ
prakupitā doṣā ekaśo dviśaḥ samastāḥ śoṇitasahitā vā yathoktaṃ prasṛtāḥ
pradhānadhamanīranuprapadyādho gatvā gudamāgamya pradūṣya
gudavalīrmāṃsaprarohāñjanayanti viśeṣato mandāgneḥ, tathā
tṛṇakāṣṭhopalaloṣṭhavastrādibhiḥ śītodakasaṃsparśanādvā kandāḥ
parivṛddhimāsādayanti, tāny arśāṃsīty ācakṣate ||
tatra sthūlāntrapratibaddham ardhapañcāṅgulaṃ gudamāhuḥ,
tasmin valayas tisro 'dhyāṅgulāntarasaṃbhūtāḥ pravāhaṇī visarjanī saṃvaraṇī
ceti caturaṅgulāyatāḥ; sarvāstiryagekāṅgulocchritāḥ ||
śaṅkhāvartanibhāś cāpi upary upari saṃsthitāḥ |
gajatālunibhāś cāpivarṇataḥ saṃprakīrtitāḥ |
romāntebhyo yavādhyardho gudauṣṭhaḥ parikīrtitaḥ ||
prathamā tu gudauṣṭhādaṅgulamātre ||
teṣāṃ tu bhaviṣyatāṃ pūrvarūpāṇi anne 'śraddhā kṛcchrāt
paktiramlīkā paridāho viṣṭambhaḥ pipāsā sakthisadanamāṭopaḥ
kārśyamudgārabāhulyamakṣṇoḥ śvayathurantrakūjanaṃ gudaparikartanamāśaṅkā
pāṇḍurogagrahaṇīdoṣaśoṣāṇāṃ kāsaśvāsau balahānirmramastandrā
nidrendriyadaurbalyaṃ ca ||
jāteṣv etāny eva lakṣaṇāni pravyaktatarāṇi bhavanti ||
tatra mārutāt pariśuṣkāruṇavivarṇāni viṣamamadhyāni
kadambapuṣpatuṇḍikerīnāḍīmukulasūcīmukhākṛtīni ca bhavanti; tair upadrutaḥ
saśūlaṃ saṃhatam upaveśyate, kaṭīpṛṣṭhapārśvameḍhragudamābhipradeśeṣu cāsya
vedanā bhavanti, gulmāṣṭhīlāplīhodarāṇi cāsya tannimittāny eva bhavanti,
kṛṣṇatvaṅnakhanayanadaśanavadanamūtrapurīṣaś ca puruṣo bhavati ||
pittānnīlāgrāṇi tanūni visarpīṇi pītāvabhāsāni
yakṛtprakāśāni śukajihvāsaṃsthānāni yavamadhyāni jalaukovaktrasadṛśāni
praklinnāni ca bhavanti; tair upadrutaḥ sadāhaṃ sarudhiramatisāryate,
jvaradāhapipāsā mūrcchāś cāsyopadravā bhavanti,
pītatvaṅnakhanayanadaśanavadanamūtrapurīṣaś ca puruṣo bhavati ||
śleṣmajāni śvetāni mahāmūlāni sthirāṇi vṛttāni snigdhāni
pāṇḍūni karīrapanasāsthigostanākārāṇi, na bhidyante na sravanti kaṇḍūbahulāni
ca bhavanti; tair upadrutaḥ saśleṣmāṇamanalpaṃ māṃsadhāvanaprakāśamatisāryate,
śophaśītajvarārocakāvipākaśirogauravāṇi cāsya tannimittāny eva bhavanti,
śuklatvaṅgakhanayanadaśanavadanamūtrapurīṣaś ca puruṣo bhavati ||
raktajāni nyagrodhaprarohavidrumakākaṇantikāphalasadṛśāni
pittalakṣaṇāni ca, yadā 'vagāḍhapurīṣapīḍitāni bhavanti tadā 'tyarthaṃ duṣṭam
analpam asṛk sahasā visṛjanti, tasya cātipravṛttau śoṇitāti yogopadravā
bhavanti ||
sannipātajāni sarvadoṣalakṣaṇayuktāni ||
sahajāni duṣṭaśoṇitaśukranimittāni, teṣāṃ doṣata eva
prasādhanaṃ kartavyaṃ, viśeṣataś caitāni durdarśanāni paruṣāṇi pāṃsūni
dāruṇāny antarmukhāni; tair upadrutaḥ kṛśo 'lpabhuk sirāsantatagātro
'lpaprajaḥ kṣīṇaretāḥ kṣāmasvaraḥ krodhano 'lpāgniprāṇaḥ paramalasaś ca, tathā
ghrāṇaśiro 'kṣināsāśravaṇarogī, satatam
antrakūjāṭopahṛdayopalepārocakaprabhṛtibhiḥ pīḍyate ||
bhavati cātra--- bāhyamadhyavalisthānāṃ pratikuryād
bhiṣagvaraḥ |
antarvalisamutthānāṃ pratyākhyāyācaret kriyām ||
prakupitās tu doṣā meḍhram abhiprapannā māṃsaśoṇite
pradūṣya kaṇḍūṃ janayanti, tataḥ kaṇḍūyanāt kṣataṃ samupajāyate, tasmiṃś ca
kṣate duṣṭamāṃsajāḥ prarohāḥ picchilalarudhirasrāviṇo jāyante kūrcakino
'bhyantaram upariṣṭād vā, te tu śepho vināśayanty upaghnanti ca puṃstvaṃ;
yonim abhiprapannāḥ sukumārān durgandhān picchilarudhirasrāviṇaś chatrākārān
karīrāñ janayanti, te tu yonim upaghnanty ārtavaṃ ca; nābhim abhiprapannāḥ
sukumārān durgandhān picchilān gaṇḍūpadamukhasadṛśān karīrāñ janayanti; ta ev
ordhvam āgatāḥ śrotrākṣighrāṇavadaneṣv arśāṃsy upanirvartayanti; tatra
karṇajeṣu bādhir yaṃ śūlaṃ pūtikarṇatā ca, netrajeṣu vartmā varodho vedanā
srāvo darśananāśaś ca, ghrāṇajeṣu pratiśyāyo 'timātraṃ kṣavathuḥ
kṛcchrocchvāsatā pūtinasyaṃ sānunāsikavākyatvaṃ śiroduḥkhaṃ ca; vaktrajeṣu
kaṇṭhauṣṭhatālūnām anyatam asmiṃs tair gadgadavākyatā rasājñānaṃ mukharogāś ca
bhavanti ||
vyānas tu prakupitaḥ śleṣmāṇaṃ parigṛhya bahiḥ sthirāṇi
kīlavadarśāṃsi nirvartayati, tāni carmakīlāny arśāṃsīty ācakṣate ||

teṣu kīleṣu nistodo mārutenopajāyate |
śleṣmaṇā tu savarṇatvaṃ granthitvaṃ ca vinirdiśet ||
pittaśoṇitajaṃ raukṣyaṃ kṛṣṇatvaṃ ślakṣṇatā tathā |
samudīrṇakharatvaṃ ca carmakīlasya lakṣaṇam ||
arśasāṃ lakṣaṇaṃ vyāsāduktaṃ sāmānyatas tu yat |
tat sarvaṃ prāgvinirdiṣṭāt sādhayed bhiṣajāṃ varaḥ ||
arśaḥsu dṛśyate rūpaṃ yadā doṣadvayasya tu |
saṃsargaṃ taṃ vijānīyāt saṃsargaḥ sa ca ṣaḍvidhiḥ ||
tridoṣāṇy alpaliṅgāni yāpyāni tu vinirdiśet |
dvandvajāni dvitīyāyāṃ valau yāny āśritāni ca ||
kṛcchrasādhyāni tāny āhuḥ parisaṃvatsarāṇi ca |
sannipātasamutthāni sahajāni tu varjayet ||
sarvāḥ syur valayo yeṣāṃ durnāmabhir upadrutāḥ |
tais tu pratihato vāyur apānaḥ sannivartate ||
tato vyānena saṅgamya jyotir mṛdgāti dehinām ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne 'rśonidānaṃ nāma
dvitīyo 'dhyāyaḥ ||2 ||

athāto 'śmarīṇāṃ nidānaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ ||
yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ ||
catasro 'śmaryo bhavanti; śleṣmādhiṣṭhānāḥ; tad yathā
śleṣmaṇā, vātena, pittena, śukreṇa cet ||
tatrāsaṃśodhanaśīlasyāpathyakāriṇaḥ prakupitaḥ śleṣmā
mūtrasaṃpṛkto 'nupraviśya bastimaśmarīṃ janayati ||
tāsāṃ pūrvarūpāṇi jvaro vastipīḍārocakau mūtrakṛcchraṃ
bastiśiromuṣkaśephasāṃ vedanā kṛcchrāvasādo bastagandhitvaṃ mūtrasyeti ||
yathā svavedanāvarṇaṃ duṣṭaṃ sāndram athāvilam | pūrvarūpe
'śmanaḥ kṛcchrān mūtraṃ sṛjati mānavaḥ ||
atha jātāsu nābhibastisevanīmehaneṣv anyatamasmin mehato
vedanā mūtradhārāsaṅgaḥ sarudhiramūtratā mūtravikiraṇaṃ gomedakaprakāśamaty
āvilaṃ sasikataṃ visṛjati; dhāvanalaṅghanaplavanapṛṣṭhayānoṣṇādhvagamanaiś
cāsya vedanā bhavanti ||
tatra śleṣmāśmarī śleṣmalam annam abhyavaharato 'tyartham
upalipyādhaḥ parivṛddhiṃ parivṛddhiṃ prāpya bastimukham adhiṣṭhāya sroto
niruṇaddhi, tasya mūtrapratighātād dālyate bhidyate nistudyata iva ca bastir
guruḥ śītaś ca bhavati; aśmarī cātra śvetā snigdhā mahatī kukkuṭāṇḍapratīkāśā
madhūkapuṣpavarṇā vā bhavati, tāṃ ślaiṣmikīm iti vidyāt ||
pittayutas tu śleṣmā saṃghātam upagamya yathoktāṃ
parivṛddhiṃ prāpya bastimukham adhiṣṭhāya sroto niruṇaddhi, tasya
mūtrapratīghātā dūṣyate cūṣyate dahyate pacyata iva bastir uṣṇavātaś ca
bhavati; aśmarī cātra saraktā pītāvabhāsā kṛṣṇā bhallātakāsthipratimā
madhuvarṇā vā bhavati, tāṃ paittikīm iti vidyāt ||
vātayutas tu śleṣmā saṃghātam upagamya yathoktāṃ
parivṛddhiṃ prāpya bastimukham adhiṣṭhāya sroto niruṇaddhi, tasya
mūtrapratīghātāttīvrā vedanā bhavati, tadā 'tyarthaṃ pīḍyamāno dantān khādati,
nābhiṃ pīḍayati, meḍhraṃ pramṛdgāti, pāyuṃ spṛśati, viśardhate, vidahati,
vātamūtrapurīṣāṇi kṛcchreṇa cāsya mehato niḥsaranti; aśmarī cātra śyāvā paruṣā
viṣamā kharā kadambapuṣpavat kaṇṭakācitā bhavati, tāṃ vātikīm iti vidyāt ||
prāyeṇaitās tisro 'śmaryo
divāsvapnasamaśanādhyaśanaśītasnigdhagurumadhurāhārapriyatvād viśeṣeṇa bālānāṃ
bhavanti; teṣām evālpabastikāyatvād anupacitamāṃsatvāc ca basteḥ
sukhagrahaṇāharaṇā bhavanti | mahatāṃ tu śukrāśmarī śukranimittā bhavati ||
maithunavighātādatimaithunādvā śukraṃ calitam
anirgacchadvimārgagamanād anilo 'bhitaḥ saṃgṛhya meḍhravṛṣaṇayor antare
saṃharati, saṃhṛtya copaśoṣayati; sā mūtramārgam āvṛṇoti, mūtrakṛcchraṃ
bastivedanāṃ vṛṣaṇayoś ca śvayathum āpādayati, pīḍitamātre ca tasminn eva
praveśe pravilayam āpadyate; tāṃ śukrāśmarīm iti vidyāt ||
śarkarā sikatā meho bhasmākhyo 'śmarivaikṛtam | aśmaryā
śarkarā jñeyā tulyavyañjanavedanā ||
pavane 'nuguṇe sā tu niretyalpā viśeṣataḥ |
sā bhinnamūrtir vātena śarkarety abhidhīyate ||
hṛtpīḍā sakthisadanaṃ kukṣiśūlaṃ ca vepathuḥ |
tṛṣṇordhvago 'nilaḥ kārṣṇyaṃ daurbalyaṃ pāṇḍugātratā ||
arocakrāvipākau tu śarkarārte bhavanti ca |
mūtramārgapravṛttā sā saktā kuryād upadravān ||
daurbalyaṃ sadanaṃ kārśyaṃ kukṣiśūlamarocakam | pāṇḍutvam
uṣṇavātaṃ ca tṛṣṇāṃ hṛtpīḍanaṃ vamim ||
nābhipṛṣṭhakaṭūmuṣkagudavaṅkṣaṇaśephasām | ekavāras
tanutvakko madhye bastir adhomukhaḥ ||
bastirbastiśiraśaiva pauruṣaṃ vṛṣaṇau gudaḥ |
ekasaṃbandhino hy ete gudāsthivivarāśritāḥ ||
alābvā iva rūpeṇa sirāsnāyuparigrahaḥ | mūtrāśayo
malādhāraḥ prāṇāyatanam uttamam ||
pakvāśayagatās tatra nāḍyo mūtravahās tu yāḥ | tarpayanti
sadā mūtraṃ saritaḥ sāgaraṃ yathā ||
sūkṣmatvān nopalabhyante mukhāny āsāṃ sahasraśaḥ |
nāḍībhir upanītasya mūtrasyāmāśayāntarāt ||
jāgrataḥ svapataś caiva sa niḥsyandena pūryate |
āmukhātsalile nyastaḥ pārśvebhyaḥ pūryate navaḥ ||
ghaṭo yathā tathā viddhi bastir mūtreṇa pūryate | evam
eva praveśena vātaḥ pittaṃ kapho 'pi vā ||
mūtrayuktam upasnehāt praviśya kurute 'śmarīm | apsu
svacchā(sthā)sv api yathā niṣiktāsu nave ghaṭe ||
kālāntareṇa paṅkaḥ syād aśmarīsaṃbhavas tathā | saṃhanty
āpo yathā divyā māruto 'gniś ca vaidyutaḥ ||
tadvad valāsaṃ bastis tham ūṣmā saṃhanti sānilaḥ |
mārute praguṇe bastau mūtraṃ samyak pravartate | vikārā
vividhāś cāpi pratilome bhavanti hi ||
mūtrāghātāḥ pramehāś ca śukradoṣās tathaiva ca |
mūtradoṣāś ca ye kecid vastāv eva bhavanti hi ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne 'śmarīnidānaṃ
nāma tṛtīyo 'dhyāyaḥ ||

athāto bhagandarāṇāṃ nidānaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ ||
yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ ||
vātapittaśleṣmasannipātāgantunimittāḥ
śataponakoṣṭragrīvaparisrāviśambūkāvartonmārgiṇo yathāsaṃkhyaṃ pañca
bhagandarā bhavanti | te tu bhagagudabastipradeśadāraṇāc ca bhagandarā ity
ucyante | abhinnāḥ piḍakāḥ, bhinnās tu bhagandarāḥ ||
teṣāṃ tu pūrvarūpāṇi -- kaṭīkapālavedanā kaṇḍūrdāhaḥ śophaś
ca gudasya bhavati
tatrāpathyasevināṃ vāyuḥ prakupitaḥ sannivṛttaḥ
sthirībhūto gudam abhito 'ṅgule dvyaṅgule vā māṃsaśoṇite pradūṣyāruṇavarṇāṃ
piḍakāṃ janayati, sā 'sya todādīn vedanāviśeṣāñ janayati, apratikriyamāṇā ca
pākam upaiti, mūtrāśayābhyāsagatatvāc ca vraṇaḥ praklinnaḥ
śataponakavadaṇumukhaiś chidrair āpūryate, tāni ca chidrāṇy ajasram acchaṃ
phenānuviddham adhikam āsrāvaṃ sravanti, vraṇaś ca tāḍyate bhidyate chidyate
sūcībhir iva nistudyate, gudaṃ cāvadīryate, upekṣite ca vātamūtrapurīṣaretasām
apy āgamaś ca tair eva chidrair bhavati; taṃ bhagandaraṃ śataponakam ity
ācakṣate ||
pittaṃ tu prakupitam anilenādhaḥ preritaṃ pūrvavad
avasthitaṃ raktāṃ tanvīmucchritām uṣṭragrīvākāṃ piḍakāṃ janayati; sā 'sya
coṣādīn vedanāviśeṣāñ janayati; apratikriyamāṇā ca pākam upaiti; vraṇaś
cāgnikṣārābhyām iva dahyate, durgandham uṣṇam āsrāvaṃ sravati, upekṣitaś ca
vātamūtrapurīṣaretāṃsi visṛjati; taṃ bhagandaram uṣṭragrīvam ity ācakṣate ||
śleṣmā tu prakupitaḥ samīraṇenādhaḥ preritaḥ
pūrvavadavasthitaḥ śuklāvabhāsāṃ sthirāṃ kaṇḍūmatīṃ piḍakāṃ janayati, sā 'sya
kaṇḍvādīn vedanāviśeṣāñajanayati, apratikriyamāṇā ca pākam upaiti, vraṇaś ca
kaṭhinaḥ saṃrambhī kaṇḍūprāyaḥ picchilam ajasram āsrāvaṃ sravati, upekṣitaś ca
vātamūtrapurīṣaretāṃsi visṛjati; taṃ bhagandaraṃ parīsrāviṇam ity ācakṣate ||
vāyuḥ prakupitaḥ prakupitau pittaśleṣmāṇau parigṛhyādho
gatvā pūrvavadavasthitaḥ pādāṅguṣṭhāgrapramāṇāṃ sarvaliṅgāṃ piḍakāṃ janayati,
sā 'sya todadāhakaṇḍvādīn vedanāviśeṣāñ janayati, apratikriyamāṇā ca pākam
uapaiti, vraṇaś ca nānāvidhavarṇam āsrāvaṃ sravati, pūrṇanadīśambūkāvartavac
cātra samuttiṣṭhanti vedanāviśeṣāḥ; taṃ bhagandaraṃ śambūkāvartam ity ācakṣate
||
mūḍhena māṃsalubdhena yad asthiśalyam annena
sahābhyavahṛtaṃ yadā 'vagāḍhapurīṣonmiśram apānenādhaḥpreritam asamyag āgataṃ
gudam apakṣiṇoti tadā kṣatanimittaḥ kotha upajāyate, tasmiṃś ca kṣate
pūyarudhirāvakīrṇamāṃsakothe bhūmāv iva jalapraklinnāyāṃ krimayaḥ saṃjāyante,
te bhakṣayanto gudam anekadhā pārśvato dārayanti, tasya tair mārgaiḥ
kṛmikṛtair vātamūtrapurīṣaretāṃsy abhiniḥsarantiḥ; taṃ bhagandaram unmārgiṇam
ity ācakṣate ||
bhavanti cātra ---
utpadyate 'lparuk śophāt kṣipraṃ cāpy upaśāmayati | pāyvantadeśe piḍakā sā
jñeyā 'nyā bhagandarāt ||
pāyoḥ syād dvyaṅgule deśe gūḍamūlā sarugjvarā |
bhāgandarīti vijñeyā piḍakā 'to viparyayāt ||
yān ayānān malotsargāt kaṇḍūrugdāhaśophavān | pāyur
bhaved rujaḥ kaṭyāṃ pūrvarūpaṃ bhagandare ||
ghorāḥ sādhayituṃ duḥkhāḥ sarva eva bhagandarāḥ | teṣv
asādhyas tridoṣotthaḥ kṣatajaś ca bhagandaraḥ ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne bhagandaranidānaṃ
nāma caturtho 'dhyāyaḥ || 4 ||

athātaḥ kuṣṭhanidānaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ ||
yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ ||
mithyāhārācārasya viśeṣād guruviruddhāsātmyājīrṇāhitāśinaḥ
snehapītasya vāntasya vā vyāyāmagrāmyadharmasevino grāmyānūpaudakamāṃsāni vā
payasā 'bhīkṣṇam aśnato yo vā majjaty apsūṣmābhitaptaḥ sahasāchardiṃ vā
pratihanti, tasya pittaśleṣmāṇau prakupitau parigṛhyānilaḥ pravṛddhas
tiryaggāḥ sirāḥ sarprapadya samuddhūya bāhyaṃ mārgaṃ prati samantād vikṣipati,
yatra yatra ca doṣo vikṣipto niścarati tatra tatra maṇḍalāni prādurbhavanti,
evaṃ samutpannas tvaci doṣas tatra tatra ca parivṛddhiṃ prāpyāpratikriyamāṇo
'bhyantaraṃ pratipadyate dhātūn abhidūṣayan ||
tasya pūrvarūpāṇi tvakpāruṣyam akasmād romaharṣaḥ kaṇḍūḥ
svedabāhulyam asvedanaṃ vāṅgapradeśānāṃ svāpaḥ kṣatavisarpaṇam asṛjaḥ kṛṣṇatā
ceti ||
tatra sapta mahākuṣṭhāni, ekādaśa kṣudrakuṣṭhāni, evam
aṣṭādaśa kuṣṭhāni bhavanti | tatra mahākuṣṭhāny
aruṇodumbararṣya(rkṣa)jihvakapālakākaṇaka puṇḍarīkadadrukuṣṭhānīti |
kṣudrakuṣṭhāny api sthūlāruṣkaṃ mahākuṣṭham ekakuṣṭhaṃ carmadalaṃ visarpaḥ
parisarpaḥ sidhmaṃ vicarcikā kiṭibhaṃ(maṃ) pāmā cakasā ceti ||
sarvāṇi kuṣṭhāni savātāni sapittāni saśleṣmāṇi sakrimīṇi
ca bhavanti, utsannatas tu doṣagrahaṇam abhibhavāt ||
tatra vātenāruṇaṃ,
pittenodumbararṣya(rkṣa)jihvakapālakākaṇakāni, sleṣmaṇā puṇḍarīkaṃ
dadrukuṣṭhaṃ ceti | teṣāṃ mahattvaṃ kriyāgurutvam uttarottaraṃ
dhātvanupraveśād asādhyatvaṃ ceti ||
tatra, vātenāruṇābhāni tanūni visarpīṇi
todabhedasvāpayuktāny aruṇāni | pittena pakvodumbaraphalākṛtivarṇāny
audumbarāṇi, ṛṣya(kṣa)jihvāprakāśāni kharāṇi ṛṣya(kṣa)jihvāni,
kṛṣṇakapālikāprakāśāni kapālakuṣṭhāni, kākaṇantikāphalasadṛśāny atīva
raktakṛṣṇāni kākaṇakāni; teṣāṃ caturṇāmapyoṣacoṣaparidāhadhūmāyanāni
kṣiprotthānaprapākabheditvāni krimijanma ca sāmānyāni liṅgāni | śleṣmaṇā
puṇḍarīkapatraprakāśāni pauṇḍarīkāṇi, atasīpuṣpavarṇāni tāmrāṇi vā visarpīṇi
piḍakāvanti ca dadrukuṣṭhāni; tayor dvayor apy utsannatā parimaṇḍalatā kaṇḍūś
cirotthānatvaṃ ceti sāmāny āni rūpāṇi ||
kṣudrakuṣṭhāny ata ūrdhvaṃ vakṣyāmaḥ --- sthūlāni
sandhiṣvatidāruṇāni sthūlāruṣi syuḥ kaṭhināny arūṃṣi |
tvakkocabhedasvapanāṅgasādāḥ kuṣṭhe mahatpūrvayute bhavanti ||
kṛṣṇāruṇaṃ yena bhavec charīraṃ tad ekakuṣṭhaṃ pravadanti
kuṣṭham | syur yena kaṇḍūvyathanauṣacoṣās taleṣu tac carmadalaṃ vadanti ||
visarpavat sarpati sarvato yastvagraktamāṃsāny
abhibhūya śīghram |
mūrcchāvidāhāratitodapākām kṛtvā visarpaḥ sa bhaved
vikāraḥ ||
śanaiḥ śarīre piḍakāḥ sravantyaḥ sarpanti yās taṃ
parisarpam āhuḥ | kaṇḍvanvitaṃ śvetam apāyi sidhma vidyāt tanu prāyaśa
ūrdhvakāye ||
rājyo 'tikaṇḍvartirujaḥ sarūkṣā bhavanti gātreṣu
vicarcikāyām | kaṇḍūmatī dāharujopapannā vipādikā pādagateyam eva ||
yat srāvi vṛttaṃ ghanamugrakaṇḍu tat snigdhakṛṣṇaṃ
kiṭibhaṃ(maṃ) vadanti | sāsrāvakaṇḍūparidāhakābhiḥ pāmā 'ṇukābhiḥ piḍakābhir
ūhyā ||
sphoṭaiḥ sadāhair ati saiva kacchūḥ
sphikpāṇipādaprabhavair nirūpyā | kaṇḍvanvitā yā piḍakā śarīre saṃsrāvahīnā
rakasocyate sā ||
aruḥ sasidhmaṃ rakasā mahacca yaccaikakuṣṭhaṃ kaphajāny
amūni | vāyoḥ prakopāt parisarpamekaṃ śeṣāṇi pittaprabhavāṇi vidyāt ||
kilāsam api kuṣṭhavikalpa eva; tat trividhaṃ vātena,
pittena, śleṣmaṇā ceti | kuṣṭhakilāsayor antaraṃ tvaggatam eva
kilāsamaparisrāvi ca | tadvātena maṇḍalamaruṇaṃ paruṣaṃ paridhvaṃsi ca,
pittena padmapatrapratīkāśaṃ saparidāhaṃ ca, śleṣmaṇā śvetaṃ snigdhaṃ bahalaṃ
kaṇḍūmac ca | teṣu saṃbaddhamaṇḍalamantejātaṃ raktaroma cāsādhyamagnidagdhaṃ
ca ||
kuṣṭheṣu tu
tvaksaṃkocasvāpasvedaśophabhedakauṇyasvaropaghātā vātena,
pākāvadaraṇāṅgulipatanakarṇanāsābhaṅgākṣirāgasattvotpattayaḥ pittena,
kaṇḍūvarṇabhedaśophāsrāvagauravāṇi śleṣmaṇā ||
tatrādibalapravṛttaṃ pauṇḍarīkaṃ kākaṇaṃ cāsādhyam ||
bhavanti cātra --- yathā banaspatirjātaḥ prāpya
kālaprakarṣaṇam | antarbhūmiṃ vigāheta mūlair vṛṣṭivivardhitaiḥ ||
evaṃ kuṣṭhaṃ samutpannaṃ tvaci kālaprakarṣataḥ | krameṇa
dhātūn vyāpnoti narasyāpratikāriṇaḥ ||
sparśahāniḥ svedanatvamīṣatkaṇḍūś ca jāyate | vaivarṇyaṃ
rūkṣabhāvaś ca kuṣṭhe tvaci samāśrite ||
tvaksvāpo romaharṣaś ca svedasyābhipravartanam |
kaṇḍūrvipūyakaś caiva kuṣṭhe śoṇitasaṃśrite ||
bāhulyaṃ vaktraśoṣaś ca kārkaśyaṃ piḍakodgamaḥ | todaḥ
sphoṭaḥ sthiratvaṃ ca kuṣṭhe māṃsasamāśrite ||
daurgandhyam upadehaś ca pūyo 'tha krimayas tathā |
gātrāṇāṃ bhedanaṃ cāpi kuṣṭhe medaḥsamāśrite ||
nāsābhaṅgo 'kṣirāgaś ca kṣate ca krimisaṃbhavaḥ | bhavet
svaropaghātaś ca hy asthimajjasamāśrite ||
kauṇyaṃ gatikṣayo 'ṅgānāṃ saṃbhedaḥ kṣatasarpaṇam |
śukrasthānagate liṅgaṃ prāguktāni tathaiva ca ||
strīpuṃsayoḥ kuṣṭhadoṣād duṣṭaśoṇitaśukrayoḥ | yad
apatyaṃ tayor jātaṃ jñeyaṃ tad api kuṣṭhitam ||
kuṣṭham ātmavataḥ sādhyaṃ tvagraktapiśitāśritam |
medogataṃ bhaved yāpyam asādhyam ata uttaram ||
brahmastrīsajjanavadhaparasvaharaṇādibhiḥ | karmabhiḥ
pāparogasya prāhuḥ kuṣṭhasya saṃbhavam ||
mriyate yadi kuṣṭhena punarjāte 'pi gacchati | gātaḥ
kaṣṭarato rogo yathā kuṣṭhaṃ prakīrtitam ||
āhārācārayoḥ proktāmāsthāya mahatīṃ kriyām | auṣadhīnāṃ
viśiṣṭānāṃ tapasaś ca niṣevaṇāt | yastena mucyate jantuḥ sa puṇyāṃ
gatimāpnuyāt ||
prasaṅgād gātrasaṃsparśānniśvāsāt sahabhojanāt |
sahaśayyāsanāc cāpi vastramālyānulepanāt ||
kuṣṭhaṃ jvaraś ca śoṣaś ca netrābhiṣyanda eva ca |
aupasargikarogāś ca saṃkrāmanti narānnaram ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne kuṣṭhanidānaṃ nāma pañcamo
'dhyāyaḥ ||5 ||

athātaḥ pramehanidānaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ ||
yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ ||
divāsvapnāvyāyāmālasyaprasaktaṃ
śītasnigdhamadhuramedyadravānnapānasevinaṃ puruṣaṃ jānīyāt pramehī
bhaviṣyatīti ||
tasya caivaṃpravṛttasyāparipakvā eva vātapittaśleṣmāṇo
yadā medasā sahaikatvam upetya mūtravāhisrotāṃsyanusṛtyādho gatvā
bastermukhamāśr ity a nirbhidyante tadā pramehāñjanayanti ||
teṣāṃ tu pūrvarūpāṇi hastapādataladāhaḥ
snigdhapicchilagurutā gātrāṇāṃ madhuraśuklamūtratā tandrā sādaḥ pipāsā
durgandhaś ca śvāsastālugalajihvādanteṣu malotpattirjaṭilībhāvaḥ keśānāṃ
vṛddhiś ca nakhānām ||
tatrāvilaprabhūtamūtralakṣaṇāḥ sarva eva pramehā bhavanti

sarva eva sarvadoṣasamutthāḥ saha piḍakābhiḥ ||
tatra, kaphādudakekṣuvālikāsurāsikatāśanair
lavaṇapiṣṭasāndraśukraphenamehā daśa sādhyāḥ, doṣadūṣyāṇāṃ samakriyatvāt ;
pittānnīlaharidrāmlakṣāramañjiṣṭhāśoṇitamehāḥ ṣaḍ yāpyāḥ, doṣadūṣyāṇāṃ
viṣamakriyatvāt ; vātāt sarpirvasākṣaudrahastimehāś catvāro 'sādhyatamāḥ,
mahātyayikatvāt ||
tatra vātapittamedobhir anvitaḥ śleṣmā
śleṣmapramehāñjanayati, vātakaphaśoṇitamedobhir anvitaṃ pittaṃ pittapramehān,
kaphapittavasāmajjamedobhir anvito vāyurvātapramehān ||
tatra, śvetamavedanamudakasadṛśamudakamehī mehati;
ikṣurasatulyamikṣuvālikāmehī; surātulyaṃ surāmehī; sarujaṃ sikatānuviddhaṃ
sikatāmehī; śanaiḥ sakaphaṃ mṛtsnaṃ śanair mehī; viśadaṃ lavaṇatulyaṃ
lavaṇamehī; hṛṣṭaromā piṣṭarasatulyaṃ piṣṭamehī; āvilaṃ sāndraṃ sāndramehī;
śukratulyaṃ śukramehī; stokaṃ stokaṃ saphenamacchaṃ phenamehī mehati ||
ata ūrdhvaṃ pittanimittān vakṣyāmaḥ saphenamacchaṃ nīlaṃ
nīlamehī mehati; sadāhaṃ haridrābhaṃ haridrāmehī; amlarasagandhamamlamehī;
srutakṣārapratimaṃ kṣāramehī; mañjiṣṭhodakaprakāśaṃ mañjiṣṭhāmehī;
śoṇitaprakāśaṃ śoṇitamehī mehati ||
ata ūrdhvaṃ vātanimittān vakṣyāmaḥ sarpiḥprakāśaṃ
sarpirmehī mehati; vasāprakāśaṃ vasāmehī; kṣaudrarasavarṇaṃ kṣaudramehī;
mattamātaṅgavadanuprabandhaṃ hastimehī mehati ||
makṣikopasarpaṇamālasyaṃ māṃsopacayaḥ pratiśyāyaḥ
śaithilyārocakāvipākāḥ kaphaprasekacchardinidrākāsaśvāsāśceti śleṣmajānām
upadravāḥ; vṛṣaṇayor avadaraṇaṃ bastibhedo meḍhratodo hṛdi
śūlamamlīkājvarātīsārārocakā vamathuḥ paridhūpanaṃ dāho mūrcchā pipāsā
nidrānāśaḥ pāṇḍurogaḥ pītaviṇmūtranetratvaṃ ceti paittikānāṃ; hṛdgraho
laulyamanidrā stambhaḥ kampaḥ śūlaṃ baddhapurīṣatvaṃ ceti vātajānām | evam ete
viṃśati pramehāḥ sopadravā vyākhyātāḥ ||
tatra vasāmedobhyām abhipannaśarīrasya tribhir doṣaiś
cānugatadhātoḥ pramehiṇo daśapiḍakā jāyante | tad yathā śarāvikā, sarṣapikā,
kacchapikā, jālinī, vinatā, putriṇī, masūrikā, alajī, vidārikā, vidradhikā
ceti ||
śarāvamātrā tadrūpā nimnamadhyā śarāvikā |
gaurasarṣapasaṃsthānā tatpramāṇā ca sārṣapī ||
sadāhā kūrmasaṃsthānā jñeyā kacchapikā budhaiḥ | jālinī
tīvradāhā tu māṃsajālasamāvṛtā ||
mahatī piḍakā nīlā piḍakā vinatā smṛtā | mahatyalpācitā
jñeyā piḍakā sā tu putriṇī ||
masūrasamasaṃsthānā jñeyā sā tu masūrikā | raktā sitā
sphoṭavatī dāruṇā tvalajī bhavet ||
vidārīkandavadvṛttā kaṭhinā ca vidārikā |
vidradherlakṣaṇair yuktā jñeyā vidradhikā budhaiḥ ||
gude hṛdi śirasyaṃse pṛṣṭhe marmaṇi cotthitāḥ | sopadravā
durbalāgreḥ piḍakāḥ parivarjayet ||
kṛtsnaṃ śarīraṃ niṣpīḍya medomajjavasāyutaḥ | adhaḥ
prakramate vayustenāsādhyās tu vātajāḥ ||
pramehapūrvarūpāṇāmākṛtiryatra dṛśyate | kiṃcic cāpy
adhikaṃ mūtraṃ taṃ pramehiṇam ādiśet ||
kṛtsnāny ardhāni vā yasmin pūrvarūpāṇi mānave |
pravṛttamūtram atyarthaṃ taṃ pramehiṇam ādiśet ||
piḍakāpiḍitaṃ gāḍham upasṛṣṭam upadravaiḥ | madhumehinam
ācaṣṭe sa cāsādhyaḥ prakīrtitaḥ ||
sa cāpi gamanāt sthānaṃ sthānadāsanam icchati | āsanād
vṛṇute śayyāṃ śayanāt svapnam icchati ||
yathā hi varṇānāṃ pañcānāmutkarṣāpakarṣakṛtena
saṃyogaviśeṣeṇa śabalababhrukapilakapotamecakādīnāṃ
varṇānāmanekeṣāmutpattirbhavati, evam eva
doṣadhātumalāhāraviśeṣeṇotkarṣāpakarṣakṛtena saṃyogaviśeṣeṇa pramehāṇāṃ
nānākaraṇaṃ bhavati ||
bhavati cātra sarva eva pramehāstu kālenāpratikurvataḥ |
madhumehatvamāyānti tadā 'sādhyā bhavanti hi ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne pramehanidānaṃ nāma ṣaṣṭho
'dhyāyaḥ ||6 ||

dhanvantarir dharmabhṛtāṃ variṣṭho rājarṣir indrapratimo
'bhavad yaḥ | brahmarṣiputraṃ vinayopapannaṃ śiṣyaṃ śubhaṃ suśrutam anvaśāt
saḥ ||
pṛthak samastair api ceha doṣaiḥ plīhodaraṃ baddhagudaṃ
tathaiva | āgantukaṃ saptamam aṣṭamaṃ ca dakodaraṃ ceti vadanti tāni ||
sudurbalāgner ahitāśanasya saṃśuṣkapūtyannaniṣevaṇād vā |
snehādimithyācaraṇāc ca jantor vṛddhiṃ gatāḥ koṣṭham abhiprapannāḥ ||
gulmākṛtivyañjitalakṣaṇāni kurvanti ghorāṇy udarāṇi doṣāḥ
| koṣṭhād upasnehavad annasāro niḥsṛtya duṣṭo 'nilaveganunnaḥ ||
tvacaḥ samunnamya śanaiḥ samantādvivardhamāno jaṭharaṃ
karoti | tatpūrvarūpaṃ balavarṇakāṅkṣāvalīvināśo jaṭhare hi rājyaḥ ||
jīrṇāparijñānavidāhavatyo bastau rujaḥ pādagataś ca śophaḥ
| saṃgṛhya pārśvodarapṛṣṭhanābhīryadvardhate kṛṣṇasirāvanaddham ||
saśūlamānāhavadugraśabdaṃ satodabhedaṃ pavanātmakaṃ tat |
yaccoṣatṛṣṇājvaradāhayuktaṃ pītaṃ sirā bhānti ca yatra pītāḥ ||
pītākṣiviṇmūtranakhānanasya pittodaraṃ
tattvacirābhivṛddhi | yacchītalaṃ śuklasirāvanaddhaṃ guru sthiraṃ
śuklanakhānanasya ||
snigdhaṃ mahacchophayutaṃ sasādaṃ kaphodaraṃ tat tu
cirābhivṛddhi | striyo 'nnapānaṃ nakharomamūtraviḍārtavair yuktam asādhuvṛttāḥ
||
yasmai prayacchantyarayo garāṃś ca
duṣṭāmbudūṣīviṣasevanādvā | tenāśu raktaṃ kupitāś ca doṣāḥ kurvanti ghoraṃ
jaṭharaṃ triliṅgam ||
viśeṣataḥ kupyati dahyate ca sa cāturo mūrcchati
saṃprasaktaṃ pāṇḍuḥ kṛśaḥ śuṣyati tṛṣṇayā ca ||
prakīrtitaṃ dūṣyudaraṃ tu ghoraṃ plīhodaraṃ kīrtayato
nibodha | vidāhyabhiṣyandiratasya jantoḥ praduṣṭamatyarthamasṛk kaphaś ca ||
plīhābhivṛddhiṃ satataṃ karoti plīhodaraṃ tat pravadanti
tajjñāḥ | vāme ca pārśve parivṛddhimeti viśeṣataḥ sīdati cāturo 'tra ||
mandajvarāgniḥ kaphapittaliṅgair upadrutaḥ kṣīṇabalo
'tipāṇḍuḥ | savyetarasmin yakṛti praduṣṭe jñeyaṃ yakṛddālyudaraṃ tad eva ||
yasyāntramannair upalepibhir vā bālāśmabhir vā sahitaiḥ
pṛthagvā | saṃcīyate tatra malaḥ sadoṣaḥ krameṇa nāḍyāmiva saṃkaro hi ||
nirudhyate cāsya gude purīṣaṃ nireti kṛcchrād api
cālpamalpam | hṛnnābhimadhye parivṛddhimeti ta(ya)ccodaraṃ viṭsamagandhikaṃ ca
||
pracchardayan baddhagudī vibhāvyaḥ tataḥ parisrāvyudaraṃ
nibodha | śalyaṃ yadannopahitaṃ tadantraṃ bhinatti yasyāgatamanyathā vā ||
tasmāt sruto 'ntrāt salilaprakāśaḥ srāvaḥ sravedvai
gudatas tu bhūyaḥ |nābheradhaścodarameti vṛddhiṃ nistudyate 'tīva vidahyate ca
||
etat parisrāvyudaraṃ pradiṣṭaṃ dakodaraṃ kīrtayato
nibodha | yaḥ snehapīto 'pyanuvāsito vā vānto virikto 'pyathavā nirūḍhaḥ ||
pibejjalaṃ śītalamāśu tasya srotāṃsi duṣyanti hi
tadvahāni | snehopalipteṣv athavā 'pi teṣu dakodaraṃ pūrvavadabhyupaiti ||
snigdhaṃ mahat saṃparivṛttanābhi bhṛśonnataṃ
pūrṇamivāmbunā ca | yathā dṛtiḥ kṣubhyati kampate ca śabdāyate cāpi dakodaraṃ
tat ||
ādhmānaṃ gamane 'śaktirdaurbalyaṃ durbalāgnitā | śophaḥ
sadanamaṅgānāṃ saṅgo vātapurīṣayoḥ | dāhastṛṣṇā ca sarveṣu jaṭhareṣu bhavanti
hi ||
ante salilabhāvaṃ hi bhajante jaṭharāṇi tu | sarvāṇyeva
parīpākāttadā tāni vivarjayet ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne udaranidānaṃ nāma saptamo
'dhyāyaḥ ||7 ||

grāmyadharmayānavāhanādhvagamanapraskhalanaprapatanaprapīḍānadhāvanābhighātaviṣamaśayanāsanopavāsavegābhighātātirūkṣakaṭutiktabhojanaśokātikṣārasevanātisāravamanavirecanapreṅkholanājīrṇagarbhaśātanaprabhṛtibhir
viśeṣair bandhānānm ucyate garbhaḥ, phalam iva
vṛntabandhanādabhighātaviśeṣaiḥ; sa vimuktabandhano garbhāśayamatikramya
yakṛtplīhāntravivarair avasraṃsamānaḥ koṣṭhasaṃkṣobhamāpādayati, tasyā
jaṭharasaṃkṣomādvāyurapāno mūḍhaḥ
pārśvabastiśīrṣodarayoniśūlānāhamūtrasaṅgānām anyatamamāpādya garbhaṃ
cyāvayati taruṇaṃ śoṇitasrāveṇa; tameva
kadācidvivṛddhamasamyagāgatamapatyapathamanuprāptamanirasyamānaṃ
viguṇāpānasaṃmohitaṃ garbhaṃ mūḍhagarbham ity ācakṣate ||
tataḥ kīlaḥ pratikhuro bījakaḥ parigha iti | tatra
ūrdhvabāhuśiraḥpādo yo yonimukhaṃ niruṇaddhi kīla iva sa kīlaḥ;
niḥsṛtahastapādaśirāḥ kāyasaṅgī pratikhuraḥ; yo nirgacchatyekaśirobhujaḥ sa
bījakaḥ; yas tu parigha iva yonimukhamāvṛtya tiṣṭhati sa parighaḥ; iti
caturvidho bhavatītyeke bhāṣante | tat tu na samyak; kasmāt sa yadā
viguṇānilaprapīḍito 'patyapathamanekadhā prapadyate tadā saṅkhyā hīyate ||
tatra kaściddvābhyāṃ sakthibhyāṃ yonimukhaṃ pratipadyate;
kaścidābhugnaikasakthirekena; kaścidābhugnasakthiśarīraḥ sphigdeśena
tiryagāgataḥ; kaściduraḥpārśvapṛṣṭhānām anyatamena yonidvāraṃ
pidhāyāvatiṣṭhate; antaḥpārśvāpavṛttaśirāḥ kaścidekena bāhunā;
kaścidābhugnaśirā bāhudvayena; kaścidābhugnamadhyo hastapādaśirobhiḥ;
kaścidekena sakthnā yonimukhaṃ pratipadyate 'pareṇa pāyum; ity aṣṭavidhā
mūḍhagarbhagatiruddiṣṭā samāsena ||
tatra dvāvantyāvasādhyau mūḍhagarbhau, śeṣānapi
viparītendriyārthākṣepakayonibhraṃśasṃvaraṇamakkallaśvāsakāsabhramanipīḍitān
pariharet ||
bhavanti cātra
kālasya pariṇāmena muktaṃ vṛntād yathā paham | prapadyate svabhāvena nānyathā
patituṃ dhruvam ||
evaṃ kālaprakarṣeṇa mukto nāḍīni bandhanāt |
garbhāśayastho yo garbho jananāya prapadyate ||
kṛmivātābhighātais tu tadevopadrutaṃ phalam | patatyakāle
'pi yathā tathā syād garbhavicyutiḥ ||
ācaturthāttato māsāt prasravedgarbhavicyutiḥ | tataḥ
sthiraśarīrasya pātaḥ pañcamaṣaṣṭhayoḥ ||
pravidhyati śiro yā tu śītāṅgī nirapatrapā |
nīloddhatasirā hanti sā garbhaṃ sa ca tāṃ tathā ||
garbhāspandanamāvīnāṃ praṇāśaḥ śyāvapāṇḍutā |
bhavatyucchvāsapūtitvaṃ śūlaṃ cāntarbhṛte śiśau ||
mānasāgantubhir māturupatāpaiḥ prapīḍitaḥ | garbho
vyāpadyate kukṣau vyādhibhiś ca prapīḍitaḥ ||
bastamāravipannāyāḥ kukṣiḥ praspandate yadi | tat kṣaṇāj
janmakāle taṃ pāṭayitvoddhared bhiṣak ||

kṛṣṇo 'ruṇo vā paruṣo bhṛśamatyarthavedanaḥ |
citrotthānaprapākaś ca vidradhirvātasaṃbhavaḥ ||
pakvodumbarasaṅkāśaḥ śyāvo vā jvaradāhavān |
kṣiprotthānaprapākaś ca vidradhiḥ pittasaṃbhavaḥ ||
śaravasadṛśaḥ pāṇḍuḥ śītaḥ stabdho 'lpavedanaḥ |
cirotthānaprapākaś ca sakaṇḍuś ca kaphotthitaḥ ||
tanupītasitāś caiṣāmāsrāvāḥ kramaśaḥ smṛtāḥ |
nānāvarṇarujāsrāvo ghāṭālo viṣamo mahān ||
viṣamaṃ pacyate cāpi vidradhiḥ sānnipātikaḥ | tais tair
bhāvair abhihate kṣate vā 'pathyasevinaḥ ||
kṣatoṣmā vāyuvisṛtaḥ saraktaṃ pittamīrayet | jvarastṛṣṇā
ca dāhaś ca jāyate tasya dehinaḥ ||
eṣa vidradhirāgantuḥ pittavidradhilakṣaṇaḥ |
kṛṣṇasphoṭāvṛtaḥ śyāvastīvradāharujājvaraḥ ||
pittavidradhiliṅgastu raktavidradhir ucyate | uktā
vidradhayo hyete teṣv asādhyas tu sarvajaḥ ||
ābhyantarānatastūrdhvaṃ vidradhīn paricakṣate |
gurvasātmyaviruddhānnaśuṣkasaṃsṛṣṭabhojanāt ||
ativyavāyavyāyāmavegāghātavidāhibhiḥ | pṛthak saṃbhūya vā
doṣāḥ kupitā gulmarūpiṇam ||
valmīkavatsamunnaddhamantaḥ kurvanti vidradhim | gude
bastimukhe nābhyāṃ kukṣau vaṅkṣaṇayos tathā ||
vṛkkayor yakṛti plīhni hṛdaye klomni vā tathā | teṣāṃ
liṅgāni jānīyādbāhyavidradhilakṣaṇaiḥ ||
āmapakvaiṣaṇīyāc ca pakvāpakvaṃ vinirdiśet |
adhiṣṭhānaviśeṣeṇa liṅgaṃ śṛṇu viśeṣataḥ ||
gude vātanirodhas tu bastau kṛcchrālpamūtratā | nābhyāṃ
hikkā tathā++āṭopaḥ kukṣau mārutakopanam ||
kaṭīpṛṣṭhagrahastīvro vaṅkṣaṇotthe tu vidradhau |
vṛkkayoḥ pārśvasaṅkocaḥ plīhnyucchvāsāvarodhanam ||
sarvāṅgapragrahastīvro hṛdi śūlaś ca dāruṇaḥ | śvāso
yakṛti tṛṣṇā ca pipāsā klomaje 'dhikā ||
āmo vā yadi vā pakvo mahān vā yadi vetaraḥ | sarvo
marmotthitaś cāpi vidradhiḥ kaṣṭa ucyate ||
nābheruparijāḥ pakvā yāntyūrdhvamitare tvadhaḥ |
jīvatyadho niḥsruteṣu sruteṣūrdhvaṃ na jīvati ||
hṛnnābhibastivarjyā ye teṣu bhinneṣu bāhyataḥ | jīvet
kadācit puruṣo netareṣu kadācana ||
strīṇāmapaprajātānāṃ prajātānāṃ tathā 'hitaiḥ |
dāhajvarakaro ghoro jāyate raktavidradhiḥ ||
api samyakprajātānāmasṛk kāyādaniḥsṛtam | raktajaṃ
vidradhiṃ kuryāt kuksau makkallasaṃjñitam ||
saptāhānnopaśāntaścettato 'sau saṃprapacyate |
viśeṣamatha vakṣyāmi spaṣṭaṃ vidradhigulmayoḥ ||
gulmadoṣasamutthānadvidradhergulmakasya ca | kasmānna
pacyate gulmo vidradhiḥ pākameti ca ||
na nibandho 'sti gulmānāṃ vidradhiḥ sanibandhanaḥ |
gulmākārāḥ svayaṃ doṣā vidradhirmāṃsaśoṇite ||
vivarānucaro granthirapsu budbudako yathā | evaṃprakāro
gulmas tu tasmāt pākaṃ na gacchati ||
māṃsaśoṇitavāhulyāt pākaṃ gacchati vidradhiḥ |
māṃsaśoṇitahīnatvād gulmaḥ pākaṃ na gacchati ||
gulmastiṣṭhati doṣe sve vidradhirmāṃsaśoṇite | vidradhiḥ
pacyate tasmād gulmaś cāpina pacyate ||
hṛnnābhibastijaḥ pakvo varjyo yaś ca tridoṣajaḥ | atha
majjaparīpāko ghoraḥ samupajāyate ||
so 'sthimāṃsanirodhena dvāraṃ na labhate yadā | tataḥ sa
vyādhinā tena jvalaneneva dahyate ||
asthi(tha) majjoṣmaṇā tena śīryate dahyamānavat | vikāraḥ
śalyabhūto 'yaṃ kleśayed āturaṃ ciram ||
athāsya karmaṇā vyādhirdvāraṃ tu labhate yadā | tato
medaḥpramaṃ snigdhaṃ śuklaṃ śītamatho guru ||
bhinne 'sthni niḥsravet pūyametadasthigataṃ viduḥ |
vidradhiṃ śāstrakuśalāḥ sarvadoṣarujāvaham ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne vidradhinidānaṃ nāma navamo
'dhyāyaḥ ||9 ||

athāto visarpanāḍīstanaroganidānaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ ||

ihāsthitam ātmaliṅgam |
kurvanti vistṛtam anunnatam āśu śophaṃ taṃ sarvato visaraṇāc ca visarpam āhuḥ

vātātmako 'sitamṛduḥ paruṣo
'ṅgamardasaṃbhedatodapavanajvaraliṅgayuktaḥ |
gaṇḍair yadā tu viṣamair atidūṣitatvād yuktaḥ sa eva kathitaḥ khalu
varjanīyaḥ ||
pittātmako drutagatirjvaradāhapākasphoṭaprabhedabahulaḥ
kṣatajaprakāśaḥ |
doṣapravṛddhihatamāṃsasiro yadā syāt srotojakardamanibho na tadā sa sidhyet

śleṣmātmakaḥ sarati mandamaśīghrapākaḥ snigdhaḥ
sitaśvayathuralparugugrahaṇḍuḥ |
sarvātmakastrividhavarṇarujo 'vagāḍhaḥ pakvo na sidhyati ca māṃsasirāpraśātāt

sadyaḥkṣatavraṇam upetya narasya pittaṃ raktaṃ ca
doṣabahulasya karoti śoham |
śyāvaṃ salohitamatijvaradāhapākaṃ sphoṭaiḥ kulatthasadṛśair asitaiś ca kīrṇam
||
sidhyanti vātakaphapittakṛtā visarpāḥ sarvātmakaḥ
kṣatakṛtaś ca na siddhimeti |
paittānilāvapi ca darśitapūrvaliṅgau sarve ca marmasu bhavanti hi
kṛcchrasādhyāḥ ||
śophaṃ na pakvam iti pakvamupekṣate yo yo vā vraṇaṃ
pracurapūyamasādhuvṛttaḥ |
abhyantaraṃ praviśati pravidārya tasya sthānāni pūrvavihitāni tataḥ sa pūyaḥ

tasyātimātragamanād gatir ity ataś ca nāḍīva yadvahati
tena matā tu nāḍī |
doṣais tribir bhavati sā pṛthagekaśaś ca saṃmūrcchitair api ca śalyanimittato
'nyā ||
tatrānilāt paruṣasūkṣmamukhī saśūlā
phenānuviddhamadhikaṃ sravati kṣapāyām |
tṛṭtāpatodasadanajvarabhedahetuḥ pītaṃ sravatyadhikamuṣṇamahaḥsu pittāt ||
jñeyā kaphādbahughanārjunapicchilāsrā rātrisrutiḥ
stimitarukkaṭhinā sakaṇḍūḥ |
doṣadvayābhihitalakṣaṇadarśanena tisro gatīrvyatikaraprabhavās tu vidyāt ||
dāhajvaraśvasanamūrcchanavaktraśoṣā yasyāṃ
bhavantyabhihitāni ca lakṣaṇāni |
tām ādiśet pavanapittakaphaprakopād ghorāmasu kṣayakarīm iva kālarātrim ||
naṣṭaṃ kathaṃcidanumārgamudīriteṣu sthāneṣu
śalyamacireṇa gatiṃ karoti |
sā phenilaṃ mathitamacchamasṛgvimiśramuṣṇaṃ sraveta sahasā sarujā ca nityam
||
yāvatyo gatayo yaiś ca kāraṇaiḥ saṃbhavanti hi |
tāvantaḥ stanarogāḥ syuḥ strīṇāṃ tair eva hetubhiḥ ||
dhamanyaḥ saṃvṛtadvārāḥ kanyānāṃ stanasaṃśritāḥ|
doṣāvisaraṇāttāsāṃ na bhavanti stanāmayāḥ ||
tāsām eva prajātānāṃ garbhiṇīnāṃ ca tāḥ punaḥ |
svabhāvād evavivṛtā jāyante saṃbhavantyataḥ ||
rasaprasādo madhuraḥ pakvāhāranimittajaḥ |
kṛtsnadehāt stanau prāptaḥ stanyam ity abhidhīyate ||
viśasteṣv api gātreṣu yathā śukraṃ na dṛśyate |
sarvadehāśritatvāc ca śukralakṣaṇamucyate ||
tad eva ceṣṭayuvaterdarśanāt smaraṇād api |
śabdasaṃśravaṇāt sparśāt saṃharṣāc ca pravartate ||
suprasannaṃ manas tatra harṣaṇe hetur ucyate |
āhārarasayonitvād evaṃ stanyam api striyāḥ ||
tad evāpatyasaṃsparśād darśanāt smaraṇād api |
grahaṇāc ca śarīrasya śukravat saṃpravartate ||
sneho nirantaras tatra prasrave hetur ucyate |
tat kaṣāyaṃ bhaved vātāt kṣiptaṃ ca plavate 'mbhasi ||
pittād amlaṃ sakaṭukaṃ rājyo 'mbhasi ca pītikāḥ |
kaphād ghanaṃ picchilaṃ ca jale cāpy avasīdati | sarvair duṣṭaiḥ sarvaliṅgam
abhighātāc ca duṣyati ||
yat kṣīram udake kṣiptam ekībhavati pāṇḍuram |
madhuraṃ cāvivarṇaṃ ca prasannaṃ tad vinirdiśet ||
sakṣīrau vā 'pyadugdhau vā prāpya doṣaḥ stanau striyāḥ |
raktaṃ māṃsaṃ ca sandūṣya stanarogāya kalpate ||
pañcānām api teṣāṃ tu hitvā śoṇitavidradhim |
lakṣaṇāni samānāni bāhyavidradhilakṣaṇaiḥ ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne visarpanāḍīstanaroganidānaṃ
nāma daśamo 'dhyāyaḥ ||10 ||

athāto granthapacyarbudagalagaṇḍānāṃ nidānaṃ
vyākhyāsyāmaḥ ||
yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ ||
vātādayo māṃsamasṛk ca duṣṭāḥ saṃdūṣya medaś ca
kaphānuviddham | vṛttonnataṃ vigrathitaṃ tu śophaṃ kurvantyato granthiriti
pradiṣṭaḥ ||
āyamyate vyathyata eti todaṃ pratyasyate kṛtyata eti
bhedam | kṛṣṇo 'mṛdurbastir ivātataś ca binnaḥ sravec cānilajo 'sramaccham ||
dandahyate dhūpyati cūṣyate ca pāpacyate prajvalatīva
cāpi | raktaḥ sapīto 'pyathavā 'pi pittādbhinnaḥ sraved uṣṇam atīva cāsram ||
śīto 'vivarṇo 'lparujo 'tikaṇḍūḥ pāṣāṇavat
saṃhananopapannaḥ | cirābhivṛddhiś ca kaphaprakopādbhinnaḥ sravec chuklaghanaṃ
ca pūyam ||
śarīravṛddhikṣayavṛddhihāniḥ snigdho mahānalparujo
'tikaṇḍūḥ | medaḥkṛto gacchati cātra bhinne piṇyākasarpiḥpratimaṃ tu medaḥ ||
vyāyāmajātair abalasya tais tair ākṣipya vāyurhi
sirāpratānam | saṃpīḍya saṅkocya viśoṣya cāpi granthiṃ karoty unnatam āśu
vṛttam ||
granthiḥ sirājaḥ sa tu kṛcchrasādhyo bhaved yadi syāt
sarujaś calaś ca | aruk sa evāpy acalo mahāṃś ca marmotthitaś cāpivivarjanīyaḥ
||
hanvasthikakṣākṣakabāhusandhimanyāgaleṣūpacitaṃ tu medaḥ
| granthiṃ sthiraṃ vṛttam athāyataṃ vā snigdhaṃ kaphaś cālparujaṃ karoti ||
taṃ granthibhis tv āmalakāsthimātrair
matsyāṇḍajālapratimais tathā 'nyaiḥ | ananyavarṇair upacīyamānaṃ
cayaprakarṣādapacīṃ vadanti ||
kaṇḍūyutāste 'lparujaḥ prabhinnāḥ sravanti naśyanti
bhavanti cānye | medaḥkaphābhyāṃ khalu roga eṣa sudustaro varṣagaṇānubandhī ||
gātrapradeśe kvacideva doṣāḥ saṃmūrcchitā māṃsam
abhipradūṣya | vṛttaṃ sthiraṃ mandarujaṃ mahāntam analpamūlaṃ ciravṛddhyapākam
||
kurvanti māṃsopacayaṃ tu śophaṃ tam arbudaṃ śāstravido
vadanti | vātena pittena kaphena cāpi raktena māṃsena ca medasā ca ||
tajjāyate tasya ca lakṣaṇāni grantheḥ samānāni sadā
bhavanti | doṣaḥ praduṣṭo rudhiraṃ sirās tu saṃpīḍya saṅkocya gatas tv apākam
||
sāsrāvam unnahyati māṃsapiṇḍaṃ māṃsāṅkurair ācitam
āśuvṛddhim | sravaty ajasraṃ rudhiraṃ praduṣṭam asādhyam etad rudhirātmakaṃ
syāt ||
raktakṣayopadravapīḍitatvāt pāṇḍur bhavet so
'rbudapīḍitas tu | muṣṭiprahārādibhir ardite 'ṅge māṃsaṃ praduṣṭaṃ prakaroti
śopham ||
avedanaṃ snigdham ananyavarṇam apākam aśmopamam
apracālyam | praduṣṭamāṃsasya narasya bāḍham etad bhaven māṃsaparāyaṇasya ||
māṃsārbudaṃ tv etad asādhyam uktaṃ sādhyeṣv apīmāni
vivarjayet tu | saṃprasrutaṃ marmaṇi yac ca jātaṃ srotaḥsu vā yac ca bhaved
acālyam ||
yajjāyate 'nyat khalu pūrvajāte jñeyaṃ tad adhyarbudam
arbudajñaiḥ | yad dvandvajātaṃ yugapat kramād vā dvir arbudaṃ tac ca bhaved
asādhyam ||
na pākam āyānti kaphādhikatvān medobahutvāc ca viśeṣatas
tu | doṣasthiratvād grathanāc ca teṣāṃ sarvārbudāny eva nisargatas tu ||
vātaḥ kaphaś caiva gale pravṛddhau manye tu saṃsṛtya
tathaiva medaḥ | kurvanti gaṇḍaṃ kramaśaḥ svaliṅgaiḥ samanvitaṃ taṃ galagaṇḍam
āhuḥ ||
todānvitaḥ kṛṣṇasirāvanaddhaḥ kṛṣṇo 'ruṇo vā
pavanātmakas tu | medonvitaś copacitaś ca kālād bhaved atisnigdhataro 'rujaś
ca ||
pāruṣyayuktaś ciravṛddhyapāko yadṛcchayā pākamiyāt
kadācit vairasyam āsyasya ca tasya jantor bhavet tathā tālugalapraśoṣaḥ ||
sthiraḥ savarṇo 'lparugugrakaṇḍūḥ śīto mahāṃś
cāpikaphātmakas tu | cirābhivṛddhiṃ kurute cirāc ca prapacyate mandarujaḥ
kadācit ||
mādhuryam āsyasya ca tasya jantor bhavet tathā
tālugalapralepaḥ | snigdho mṛduḥ pāṇḍuraniṣṭagandho medaḥkṛto
nīrugathātikaṇḍūḥ ||
pralambate 'lābuvadalpamūlo dehānurūpakṣayavṛddhiyuktaḥ
| snigdhāsyatā tasya bhavec ca jantorgale+anuśabdaṃ kurute ca nityam ||
kṛcchrācchvasantaṃ mṛdusarvagātraṃ saṃvatsarātītam
arocakārtam | kṣīṇaṃ ca vaidyo galagaṇḍinaṃ tu bhinnasvaraṃ caiva vivarjayet
tu ||
nibaddhaḥ śvayathuryasya muṣkaval lambate gale | mahān
vā yadi vā hrasvo galagaṇḍaṃ tam ādiśet ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne
galagaṇḍagaṇḍamālāpacyarbudanidānaṃ nāmaikādaśo 'dhyāyaḥ ||11 ||

athāto vṛddhyupadaṃśaślīpadānāṃ nidānaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ ||
yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ ||
vātapittaśleṣmaśoṇitamedomūtrāntranimittāḥ sapta vṛddhayo
bhavanti | tāsāṃ mūtrāntranimitte vṛddhī vātasamutthe kevalam utpattihetur
anyatamaḥ ||
adhaḥ prakupito 'nyatamo hi doṣaḥ phalakośavāhinīr
abhiprapadya dhamanīḥ phalakoṣayor vṛddhiṃ janayati tāṃ vṛddhim ity ācakṣate
||
tāsāṃ bhaviṣyatīnāṃ pūrvarūpāṇi bastikaṭīmuṣkameḍhreṣu
vedanā mārutanigrahaḥ phalakośaśophaś ceti ||
tatrānilaparipūrṇāṃ bastim ivātatāṃ paruṣām
animittānilarujāṃ vātavṛddhim ācakṣate; pakvodumbarasaṅkāśāṃ jvaradāhoṣmavatīṃ
cāśusam utthānapākāṃ pittavṛddhiṃ; kaṭhinām alpavedanāṃ śītāṃ kaṇḍūmatīṃ
śleṣmavṛddhiṃ; kṛṣṇasphoṭāvṛtāṃ pittavṛddhiliṅgāṃ raktavṛddhiṃ, mṛdusnigdhāṃ
kaṇḍūmatīm alpavedanāṃ tālaphalaprakāśāṃ medovṛddhiṃ; mūtrasaṃdhāraṇaśīlasya
mūtravṛddhir bhavati, sā gacchato 'mbupūrṇā dṛtir iva kṣubhyati
mūtrakṛcchravedanāṃ vṛṣaṇayoḥ śvayathuṃ kośayoś cāpādayati, tāṃ mūtravṛddhiṃ
vidyāt; bhāraharaṇabalavadvigrahavṛkṣaprapatanādibhir āyāsaviśeṣair vāyur
abhipravṛddhaḥ prakupitaś ca sthūlāntrasyetarasya caikadeśaṃ viguṇam ādāyādho
gatvā vaṅkṣaṇasandhim upetya granthirūpeṇa sthitvā 'pratikriyamāṇe ca
kālāntareṇa phalakośaṃ praviśya muṣkaśopham āpādayati, ādhmāto bastir ivātataḥ
pradīrghaḥ sa śopho bhavati, saśabdamavapīḍitaścordhvam upaiti, vimuktaś ca
punar ādhmāyate, tām antravṛddhim asādhyām ity ācakṣate ||
tatrātimaithunād atibrahmacaryād vā tathā
'tibrahmacāriṇīṃ cirotsṛṣṭāṃ rajasvalāṃ dīrgharomāṃ karkaśaromāṃ saṅkīrṇaromāṃ
nigūḍharomām alpadvārāṃ mahādvārām apriyām akāmām acaukṣasalilaprakṣālitayonim
aprakṣālitayoniṃ yonirogopasṛṣṭāṃ svabhāvato vā duṣṭayoniṃ viyoniṃ vā nārīm
atyartham upasevamānasya tathā
karajadaśanaviṣaśūkanipātanādbandhanāddhastābhighātāc catuṣpadīgamanād
acaukṣasalilaprakṣālanādavapīḍanācchrukravegavighāraṇānmaithunānte
vā+aprakṣālanādibhir meḍhramāgamya prakupitā doṣāḥ kṣate 'kṣate vā śvayathum
upajanayanti, tam upadaṃśam ity ācakṣate ||
sa pañcavidhas tribhir doṣaiḥ pṛthak samastair asṛjā ceti
||
tatra vātike pāruṣyaṃ tvakparipuṭanaṃ stabdhameḍhratā
paruṣaśophatā vividhāś ca vātavedanāḥ; paittike jvaraḥ śvayathuḥ
pakvoḍumbarasaṅkāśastīvradāhaḥ kṣiprapākaḥ pittavedanāś ca; ślaiṣmike
śvayathuḥ kaṇḍūmān kaṭhinaḥ snigdhaḥ śleṣmavedanāś ca; raktaje
kṛṣṇasphoṭaprādurbhāvo 'tyartham asṛkpravṛttiḥ pittaliṅgāny atyarthaṃ
jvaradāhau śoṣaś ca, yāpyaś caiva kadācit; sarvaje sarvaliṅgadarśanam
avadaraṇaṃ ca śephasaḥ kṛmiprādurbhāvo maraṇaṃ ceti ||
kupitās tu doṣā vātapittaśleṣmāṇo 'dhaḥprapannā
vaṅkṣaṇorujānujaṅghāsv avatiṣṭhamānāḥ kālāntareṇa pādam āśrity a śanaiḥ śophaṃ
janayanti, taṃ ślīpadam ity ācakṣate | tattrividhaṃ vātapittakaphanimittam iti
||
tatra vātajaṃ kharaṃ kṛṣṇaṃ paruṣamanimittānilarujaṃ
parisphuṭati ca bahuśaḥ; pittajaṃ tu pītāvabhāsamīṣanmṛdu jvaradāhaprāyaṃ ca;
śleṣmajaṃ tu śvetaṃ snigdhāvabhāsaṃ mandavedānaṃ bhārikaṃ mahāgranthikaṃ
kaṇṭakair upacitaṃ ca ||
tatra saṃvatsarātītamatimahadvalmīkajātaṃ prasṛtam iti
varjanīyāni ||
bhavanti cātra trīṇy apy etāni jānīyāc chlīpadāni
kaphocchrayāt |
gurutvaṃ ca mahattvaṃ ca yasmān nāsti vinā kaphāt ||
purāṇodakabhūyiṣṭhāḥ sarvartuṣu ca śītalāḥ |
ye deśās teṣu jāyante ślīpadāni viśeṣataḥ ||
pādavaddhas tayoś cāpi ślīpadaṃ jāyate nṛṇām |
karṇākṣināsikauṣṭheṣu kecid icchanti tadvidaḥ ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne vṛddhyupadaṃśaślīpadanidānaṃ
nāma dvādaśo 'dhyāyaḥ ||12 ||
trayodaśo 'dhyāyaḥ |
athātaḥ kṣudrarogāṇāṃ nidānaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ ||
yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ ||
samāsena catuścatvāriṃśat kṣudrarogā bhavanti | tad yathā
ajagallikā yavaprakhyā andhālajī vivṛtā kacchapikā valmīakaṃ indravṛddhā
panasikā pāṣāṇagardabhaḥ jālagardabhaḥ kakṣā visphoṭakaḥ agnirohiṇī cippaṃ
kunakhaḥ anuśayī vidārikā śarkarārbudaṃ pāmā vicarcikā rakasā pādadārikā
kadaraṃ alasendraluptau dāruṇakaḥ aruṃṣikā palitaṃ masūrikā yauvanapiḍakā
padminīkaṇṭakaḥ jatumaṇiḥ maśakaḥ carmakīlaḥ tilakālakaḥ nyacchaṃ vyaṅgaḥ
parivartikā avapāṭikā niruddhaprakaśaḥ saṃniruddhagudaḥ ahipūtanaṃ
vṛṣaṇakacchraḥ gudabhraṃśaś ceti ||
snigdhā savarṇā grathitā nīrujāa mudrasannibhā |
kaphavātotthitā jñeyā bālānāmajagallikā ||
yavākārā sukaṭhinā grathitā māṃsasaṃśritā | piḍakā
śleṣmavātābhyāṃ yavaprakhyeti socyate ||
ghanamavaktrāṃ piḍakāmunnatāṃ parimaṇḍalām |
andhālajīmalpapūyāṃ tāṃ vidyāt kaphavātajām ||
vivṛtāsyāṃ mahādāhāṃ pakvodumbarasannibhām | vivṛtām iti
tāṃ vidyāt pittotthāṃ parimaṇḍalām ||
grathitāḥ pañca vā ṣaḍvā dāruṇāḥ kacchaponnatāḥ |
kaphānilābhyāṃ piḍakā jñeyā kacchapikā budhaiḥ ||
pāṇipādatale sandhau grīvāyāmūrdhvajatruṇi |
granthirvalmīkavadyas tu śanaiḥ samupacīyate ||
todakledaparīdāhakaṇḍūmadbhir mukhair vṛtaḥ | vyādhir
valmīka ity eṣa kaphapittānilidbhavaḥ ||
padmāpuṣkaravanmadhye piḍakābhiḥ samācitām |
indravṛddhāṃ tu tāṃ vidyādvātapittotthitāṃ bhiṣak ||
maṇḍalaṃ vṛttamutsannaṃ saraktaṃ piḍakācitam | rujākarīṃ
gadarbhikāṃ tāṃ vidyādvātapittajām | karṇau pari samantādvā pṛṣṭhe vā
piḍakograruk | śālūkavatpanasikāṃ tāṃ vidyācchleṣmavātajām ||
hanusandhau samudbhūtaṃ śophamalparujaṃ sthiram |
pāṣāṇagardabhaṃ vidyādbalāsapavanātmakam ||
visarpavat sarpati yo dāhajvarakarastanuḥ | apākaḥ
śvayathuḥ pittāt sa jñeyo jālagardabhaḥ ||
piḍikāmuttamāṅgasthāṃ vṛttāmugrarujājvarām | sarvātmakāṃ
sarvaliṅgāṃ jānīyādirivellikām ||
bāhupārśvāṃsakakṣāsu kṛṣṇasphoṭāṃ savedanām |
pittaprakopasaṃbhūtāṃ kakṣām iti vinirdiśet ||
ekāmevaṃvidhāṃ dṛṣṭvā piṭikāṃ sphoṭasannibhām |
tvaggatāṃ pittakopena gandhanāmāṃ pracakṣate ||
agnidagdhanibhāḥ sphoṭāḥ sajvarāḥ pittaraktataḥ | kvacit
sarvatra vā dehe smṛtā visphoṭakā iti ||
kakṣābhāgeṣu ye sphoṭā jāyante māṃsadāru(ra)ṇāḥ |
antardāhajvarakarā dīptapāvakasannibhāḥ ||
saptāhādvā daśāhādvā pakṣādvā ghnanti mānavam |
tāmagnirohiṇīṃ vidyādasādhyāṃ sannipātataḥ ||
nakhamāṃsamadhiṣṭhāya pittaṃ vātaś ca vedanām | karoti
dāhapākau ca taṃ vyādhiṃ cippam ādiśet ||
tadevākṣatarogākhyaṃ tathopanakham ity api | abhighātāt
praduṣṭo yo nakho rūkṣo 'sitaḥ kharaḥ ||
bhavet taṃ kunakhaṃ vidyāt kulīnam iti saṃjñitam |
gambhīrāmalpasaṃrambhāṃ savarṇām uparisthitām ||
kaphādantaḥprapākāṃ tāṃ vidyādanuśayīṃ bhiṣak |
vidārīkandavadvṛttāṃ kakṣāvaṅkṣaṇasandhiṣu ||
raktāṃ vidārikāṃ vidyāt sarvajāṃ sarvalakṣaṇām | prāpya
māṃsasirāsnāyu śleṣmā medas tathā 'nilaḥ ||
granthiṃ kurvanti bhinno 'sau madhusarpirvasānimam |
sravatyāsrāvamatyarthaṃ tatra vṛddhiṃ gato 'nilaḥ ||
māṃsaṃ viśoṣya grathitāṃ śarkarāṃ janayet punaḥ |
durgandhaṃ klinnamatyrthaṃ nānāvarṇaṃ tataḥ sirāḥ ||
sravanti sahasā raktaṃ tadvidyāccharkarārbudam |
pāmāvicarcyau kuṣṭheṣu rakasā ca prakīrtitā ||
parikramaṇaśīlasya vāyuratyartharūkṣayoḥ | pādayoḥ
kurute dārīṃ sarujāṃ talasaṃśritaḥ ||
śarkaronmathite pāde kṣate vā kaṇṭakādibhiḥ |
medoraktānugaiś caiva doṣair vā jāyate nṛṇām ||
sakīlakaṭhino granthirnimnamadhyonnato 'pi vā |
kolamātraḥ saruk srāvī jāyate kadaras tu saḥ ||
klinnāṅgulyantarau pādau kaṇḍūdāharuganvitau |
duṣṭakardamasaṃsparśādalasaṃ taṃ vinirdiśet ||
romakūpānugaṃ pittaṃ vātena saha mūrcchitam |
pracyāvayati romāṇi tataḥ śleṣmā saśoṇitaḥ ||
ruṇaddhi romakūpāṃs tu tato 'nyeṣāmasaṃbhavaḥ |
tadindraluptaṃ khālity aṃ rujyeti ca vibhāvyate ||
dāruṇā kaṇḍurā rūkṣā keśabhūmiḥ prapāṭyate |
kaphavātaprakopeṇa vidyāddāruṇakaṃ tu tam ||
arūṃṣi bahuvaktrāṇi bahukledīni mūrdhani |
kaphāsṛkkṛmikopena nṛṇāṃ vidyādaruṃṣikām ||
krodhaśokaśramakṛtaḥ śarīroṣmā śirogataḥ | pittaṃ ca
keśān pacati palitaṃ tena jāyate ||
dāhajvararujāvantastāmrāḥ sphoṭāḥ sapītakāḥ | gātreṣu
vadane cāntarvijñeyāstā masūrikāḥ ||
śālmalīkaṇṭakaprakhyāḥ kaphamārutaśoṇitaiḥ | jāyante
piḍakā yūnaṃ vaktre yā mukhadūṣikāḥ ||
kaṇṭakairācitaṃ vṛttaṃ kaṇḍūmat pāṇḍumaṇḍalam |
padminīkaṇṭakaprakhyais tadākhyaṃ kaphavātajam ||
nīrujaṃ samamutsannaṃ maṇḍalaṃ kapharaktajam | sahajaṃ
raktamīṣac ca ślakṣṇaṃ jatumaṇiṃ viduḥ ||
avedanaṃ sthiraṃ caiva yasya gātreṣu dṛśyate |
māṣavatkṛṣṇamutsannamanilānmaṣakaṃ vadet ||
kṛṣṇāni tilamātrāṇi nīrujāni samāni ca |
vātapittakaphocchoṣāttān vidyāttilakālakān ||
maṇḍalaṃ mahadalpaṃ vā yadi vā sitam | sahajaṃ nīrujaṃ
gātre nyaccham ity abhidhīyate ||
samutthānanidānābhyāṃ carmakīlaṃ prakīrtitam |
krodhāyāsaprakupito vāyuḥ pittena saṃyutaḥ ||
sahasā mukhamāgatya maṇḍalaṃ visṛjaty ataḥ | nīrujaṃ
tanukaṃ śyāvaṃ mukhe vyaṅgaṃ tam ādiśet ||
kṛṣṇamevaṃguṇaṃ gātre mukhe vā nīlikāṃ viduḥ | mardanāt
pīḍanāccāti tathaivāpyabhighātataḥ | meḍhracarma yadā vāyur bhajate sarvataś
caraḥ ||
tadā vātopasṛṣṭaṃ tu carma pratinivartate |
maṇeradhastāt kośaś ca granthirūpeṇa lambate ||
savedanaḥ sadāhaś ca pākaṃ ca vrajati kvacit |
mārutāgantusaṃbhūtāṃ vidyāt tāṃ parivartikām ||
sakaṇḍūḥ kaṭhinā cāpi saiva śleṣmasamutthitā |
alpīyaḥkhāṃ yadā harṣād bālāṃ gacchet striyaṃ naraḥ ||
hastābhighātādathavā carmaṇy udvartite balāt |
mardanātpīḍanādvā 'pi śukravegavighātataḥ ||
yasyāvapāṭhyate carma tāṃ vidyād avapāṭikām |
vātopasṛṣṭam evaṃ tu carma saṃśrayate maṇim ||
maṇiś carmopanaddhas tu mūtrasroto ruṇaddhi ca |
niruddhaprakaśe tasmin mandaghāram avedanam ||
mūtraṃ pravartate jantormaṇirna ca vidīryate |
niruddhaprakaśaṃ vidyāddurūḍhāṃ cāvapāṭikām ||
vegasaṃghāraṇādvāyur vihato gudamāśritaḥ | niruṇaddhi
mahatsrotaḥ sūkṣmadvāraṃ karoti ca ||
mārgasya saukṣmyāt kṛcchreṇa purīṣaṃ tasya gacchati |
sanniruddhagudaṃ vyādhim enaṃ vidyāt sudustaram ||
śakṛnmūtrasamāyukte 'dhaute 'pāne śiśor bhavet |
svinnasyāsnāpyamānasya kaṇḍū raktakaphodbhavā ||
kaṇḍūyanāttataḥ kṣipraṃ sphoṭāḥ srāvaś ca jāyate |
ekībhūtaṃ vraṇair ghoraṃ taṃ vidyād ahipūtanam ||
snānotsādanahīnasya malo vṛṣṇasaṃśritaḥ | yadā
praklidyate svedāt kaṇḍūṃ saṃjanayet tadā ||
tatra kaṇḍūyanāt kṣipraṃ sphoṭāḥ srāvaś ca jāyate |
prāhurvṛṣaṇakacchūṃ tāṃ śleṣmaraktaprakopajām ||
pravāhaṇātisārābhyāṃ nirgacchati gudaṃ bahiḥ |
rūkṣadurbaladehasya taṃ gudabhraṃśam ādiśet ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne kṣudraroganidānaṃ
nāma trayodaśo 'dhyāyaḥ ||13 ||

athātaḥ śūkadoṣanidānaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ ||
yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ ||
liṅgavṛddhimicchatāmakramapravṛttānāṃ śūkadoṣanimittā
daśa cāṣṭau ca vyādhayo jāyante | tad yathā sarṣapikā aṣṭhīlikā grathitaṃ
kumbhīkā alajī mṛditaṃ saṃmūḍhapiḍakā avamanthaḥ puṣkarikā sparśahāniḥ uttamā
śataponakaḥ tvakpākaḥ śoṇitārbudaṃ māṃsārbudaṃ māṃsapākaḥ vidradhiḥ
tilakālakaś ceti ||
gaurasarṣapatulyā tu śūkadurbhagnahetukā |
piḍakā kapharaktābhyāṃ jñeyā sarṣapikā budhaiḥ ||
kaṭhinā viṣamair antair mārutasya prakopataḥ |
śūkais tu viṣasaṃbhugnaiḥ piḍakā 'ṣṭhīlikā bhavet ||
śūkair yat pūritaṃ śaśvadgrathitaṃ tat kaphotthitam |
kumbhīkā raktapittotthā jāmbavāsthinibhā 'śubhā ||
alajīlakṣaṇair yuktāmalajīṃ ca vitarkayet | mṛditaṃ
pīḍitaṃ yat tu saṃrabdhaṃ vāyukopataḥ ||
pāṇibhyāṃ bhṛśasaṃmūḍhe saṃmūḍhapiḍakā bhavet |
dīrghā bahvyaś ca piḍakā dīryante madhyatas tu yāḥ ||
so 'vamanthaḥ kaphāsṛgbhyāṃ vedanāromaharṣakṛt |
pittaśoṇitasaṃbhūtā piḍakā piḍakācitā ||
padmapuṣkarasṃsthānā jñeyā puṣkariketi sā |
janayet sparśahāniṃ tu śoṇitaṃ śūkadūpitam ||
mudgamāṣopamā raktā piḍakā raktapittajā |
uttamaiṣā tu vijñeyā śūkājīrṇanimittajā ||
chidrair aṇumukhair vastucitaṃ yasya samantataḥ |
vātaśoṇitajo vyādhirvijñeyaḥ śataponakaḥ ||
pittaraktakṛto jñeyastvakpāko jvaradāhavān |
kṛṣṇaiḥ sphoṭaiḥ saraktaiś ca piḍakābhiś ca pīḍitam |
yasya vas tu rujaścogrā jñeyaṃ tacchoṇitārbudam ||
māṃsadoṣeṇa jānīyādarbudaṃ māṃsasaṃbhavam |
śīryante yasya māṃsāni yatra sarvāś ca vedanāḥ ||
vidyāttaṃ māṃsapākaṃ tu sarvadoṣakṛtaṃ bhiṣak |
vidradhiṃ sannipātena yathoktamabhinirdiśet ||
kṛṣṇāni citrāṇyathavā śūkāni saviṣāṇi ca |
pātitāni pacantyāśu meḍhraṃ niravaśeṣataḥ ||
kālāni bhūtvā māṃsāni śīryante yasya dehinaḥ |
sannipātasamutthānaṃ taṃ vidyāttilakālakam ||
tatra māṃsārbudaḥ yac ca māṃsapākaś ca yaḥ smṛtaḥ |
vidradhiś ca na sidhyanti ye ca syustilakālakāḥ ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne śūkadoṣanidānaṃ nāma
caturdaśo 'dhyāyaḥ ||14 ||

athāto bhagnānāṃ nidānaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ ||
yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ ||
patanapīḍanaprahārakṣepaṇavyālamṛgadaśanaprabhṛtibhir
abhighātaviśeṣair anekavidhamasthnāṃ bhaṅgam upadiśanti ||
tatra bhaṅga(gna)jātamanekavidhamanusāryamāṇaṃ
dvividhamevopapadyate sandhimukataṃ kāṇḍabhagnaṃ ca | tatra ṣaḍvidhaṃ
sandhimuktaṃ dvādaśavidhaṃ kāṇḍabhagnaṃ bhavati ||
tatra sandhimuktam utpiṣṭaṃ viśliṣṭaṃ vivartitam
avakṣiptam atikṣiptaṃ tiryakkṣiptam iti ṣaḍvidham ||
tatra prasāraṇākuñcanavivartanākṣepaṇāśaktirugrarujatvaṃ
sparśāsahatvaṃ ceti sāmānyaṃ sandhimuktalakṣaṇamuktam ||
vaiśeṣikaṃ tūtpiṣṭe sandhāvumayataḥ śopho
vedanāprādurbhāvo viśeṣataś ca nānāprakārā vedanā rātrau prādurbhavanti;
viśliṣṭe 'lpaḥ śopho vedanāsātatyaṃ sandhivikriyā ca; vivartite tu
sandhipārśvāpagamanādviṣamāṅgatā vedanā ca; avakṣipte
sandhiviśleṣastīvrarujatvaṃ ca; atikṣipte dvayoḥ sandhyasthnoratikrāntatā
vedanā ca; tiryakkṣipte tv ekāsthipārśvāpagamanamatyarthaṃ vedanā ceti ||
kāṇḍabhagnamata ūrdhvaṃ vakṣyāmaḥ karkaṭakam aśvakarṇaṃ
cūrṇitaṃ piccitam asthicchallitaṃ kāṇḍabhagnaṃ majjānugatam atipātitaṃ vakraṃ
chinnaṃ pāṭitaṃ sphuṭitam iti dvādaśavidham ||
śvayathubāhulyaṃ
spandanavivartanasparśāsahiṣṇutvamavapīḍyamāne śabdaḥ srastāṅgatā
vividhavedanāprādurbhāvaḥ sarvāsvavasthāsu na śarmalābha iti samāsena
kāṇḍabhagnalakṣaṇamuktam ||
viśeṣas tu saṃmūḍhamubhayato 'sthi madhye bha(la)gnaṃ
granthirivonnataṃ karkaṭakam aśvakarṇavadudgatamaśvakarṇakaṃ, spṛśyamānaṃ
śabdavaccūrṇitamavagacchet, piccitaṃ pṛthutāṃ gatamanalpaśophaṃ, pārśvayor
asthi hīnodgatamasthicchalitaṃ, vellate prakampamānaṃ kāṇḍabhagnam,
asthyavayavo 'sthimadhyamanupraviśya majjānamunnahyatīti majjānugatam, asthi
niḥśeṣataśchinnamatipātitam, ābhugnamavimuktāsthi vakram,
anyatarapārśvāvaśiṣṭaṃ chinnaṃ, pāṭitamaṇubahuvidāritaṃ vedanāvacca,
śūkapūrṇamivādhmātaṃ vipulaṃ visphuṭitaṃ sphuṭitam iti ||
teṣu cūrṇitacchinnātipātitamajjānugatāni kṛcchrasādhyāni
kṛśavṛddhabālānāṃ kṣatakṣīṇakuṣṭhiśvāsināṃ sandhyupagataṃ ceti ||
bhavanti cātra bhinnaṃ kapālaṃ kaṭhyāṃ tu sandhimuktaṃ
tathā cyutam | jaghanaṃ prati piṣṭaṃ ca varjayettaccikitsakaḥ ||
asaṃśliṣṭaṃ kapālaṃ tu lalāṭe cūrṇitaṃ ca yat | bhagnaṃ
stanāntare śaṅkhe pṛṣṭhe mūrdhni ca varjayet ||
ādito yac ca durjātamasthi sandhirathāpi vā |
samyagyamitamapyasthi durnyāsāddurnibandhanāt ||
saṅkhobhādvā 'pi yadgacchedvikriyāṃ tac ca varjayet |
madhyasya vayaso 'vasthāstisro yāḥ parikīrtitāḥ ||
tatra sthiro bhavejjanturupakrānto vijānatā |
taruṇāsthīni namyante bhajyante nalakāni tu ||
kapālān vibhidyante sphuṭanti rucakāni ca ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne bhagnanidānaṃ nāma pañcadaśo
'dhyāyaḥ ||15 ||

tatrāyatanāni oṣṭhau, dantamūlāni, dantāḥ, jihvā, tālu, kaṇṭhaḥ, sarvāṇi ceti
| tatrāṣṭāvoṣṭhayoḥ, pañcadaśa dantamūleṣu, aṣṭau danteṣu, pañca jihvāyāṃ,
nava tāluni, saptadaśa kaṇṭhe, trayaḥ sarveṣvāyataneṣu ||
tatrauṣṭhaprakopā
vātapittaśleṣmasannipātaraktamāṃsamedobhighātanimittāḥ ||
karkaśau paruṣau stabdhau kṛṣṇau tīvraruganvitau |
dālyete paripāṭhyete hyoṣṭhau mārutakopataḥ ||
ācitau piḍākābhis tu sarṣapākṛtibhir bhṛśam |
sadāhapākasaṃsrāvau nīlau pītau ca pittataḥ ||
savarṇābhis tu cīyete piḍakābhir avedanau | kaṇḍūmantau
kaphācchūnau picchilau śītalau gurū ||
sakṛt kṛṣṇau sakṛt pītau sakṛcchvetau tathaiva ca |
sannipātena vijñeyāvanekapiḍikācitau ||
kharjūraphalavarṇābhiḥ piḍakābhiḥ samācitau |
raktopasṛṣṭau rudhiraṃ sravataḥ śoṇitaprabhau ||
māsaduṣṭau gurū sthūlau māṃsapiṇḍavadudgatau | jantavaś
cātra mūrcchanti sṛkkasyobhayato mukhāt ||
medasā ghṛtamaṇḍābhau kaṇḍūmantau sthirau mṛdū || acchaṃ
sphaṭikasaṅkāśamāsrāvaṃ sravayo gurū ||
kṣatajābhau vidīryete pāṭhyete cābhighātataḥ | grathitau
ca samākhyātāvoṣṭhau kaṇḍūsamanvitau ||
dantamūlagatās tu śītādo, dantapuppuṭako, dantaveṣṭakaḥ,
śauṣiro, mahāśauṣiraḥ, paridara, upakuśo, dantavaidarbho, vardhanaḥ,
adhimāṃso, nāḍyaḥ pañceti ||
śoṇitaṃ dantaveṣṭebhyo yasyākasmāt pravartate |
durgandhīni sakṛṣṇāni prakledīni mṛdūni ca ||
dantamāṃsāni śīryante pacanti ca parasparam | śītādo
nāma sa vyādhiḥ kaphaśoṇitasaṃbhavaḥ ||
dantayostriṣu vā yasya śvayathuḥ sarujo mahān |
dantapuppuṭako jñeyaḥ kapharaktanimittajaḥ ||
sravanti pūyarudhiraṃ calā dantā bhavanti ca |
dantaveṣṭaḥ sa vijñeyo duṣṭaśoṇitasaṃbhavaḥ ||
śvayathurdantamūleṣu rujāvān kapharaktajaḥ | lālāsrāvī
sa vijñeyaḥ kaṇḍūmāñ śauṣiro gadaḥ ||
dantāś calanti veṣṭebhyastālu cāpy avadīryate |
dantamāṃsāni pacyante mukhaṃ ca paripīḍyate ||
yasmin sa sarvajo vyādhirmahāśauṣirasaṃjñakaḥ |
dantamāṃsāni śīryante yasmin ṣṭhīvati cāpy asṛk ||
pittāsṛkkaphajo vyādhirjñeyaḥ paridaro hi saḥ | ceṣṭeṣu
dāhaḥ pākaś ca tebhyo dantāś calanti ca ||
āghaṭṭitāḥ prasravanti śoṇitaṃ mandavedanāḥ | ādhmāyante
srute rakte mukhaṃ pūti ca jāyate ||
yasminnupakuśaḥ sa syāt pittaraktakṛto gadaḥ | ghṛṣṭeṣu
dantamūleṣu saṃrambho jāyate mahān ||
bhavanti ca calā dantāḥ sa vaidarbho 'bhighātajaḥ |
mārutenādhiko danto jāyate tīvravedanaḥ ||
vardhanaḥ sa mato vyādhirjāte ruk ca praśāmyati |
hānavye paścime dante mahāñ chotho mahārujaḥ ||
lālāsrāvī kaphakṛto vijñeyaḥ so 'dhimāṃsakaḥ |
dantamūlagatā nāḍyaḥ pañca jñeyā yatheritāḥ ||
dantagatās tu dālanaḥ, krimidantako, dantaharṣo,
bhañjanakaḥ, dantaśarkarā, kapālikā, śyāvadantako, hanumokṣaś ceti ||
dālyante bahudhā dantā yasmiṃstīvraruganvitāḥ | dālanaḥ
sa iti jñeyaḥ sadāgatinimittajaḥ ||
kṛṣṇaścchidrī calaḥ srāvī sasṃrambho mahārujaḥ |
animittarujo vātādvijñeyaḥ kṛmidantakaḥ ||
śītamuṣṇaṃ ca daśanāḥ sahante sparśanaṃ na ca | yasya
taṃ dantaharṣaṃ tu vyādhiṃ vidyāt samīraṇāt ||
vaktraṃ vakraṃ bhaved yasmin dantabhaṅgaś ca tīvraruk |
kaphavātakṛto vyādhiḥ sa bhañjanakasaṃjñitaḥ ||
śarkareva sthirībhūto malo danateṣu yasya vai | sā
dantānāṃ guṇaharī vijñeyā dantaśarkarā ||
dalanti dantavalkāni yadā śarkarayā saha | jñeyā
kapālikā saiva daśanānāṃ vināśinī ||
yo 'sṛṅniśreṇa pittena dagdho dantas tv aśeṣataḥ |
śyāvatāṃ nīlatāṃ vā 'pi gataḥ sa śyāvadantakaḥ ||
vātena tais tair bhāvais tu hanusandhirvidaṃhataḥ |
hanumokṣa iti jñeyo vyādhir arditalakṣaṇaḥ ||
jihvāgatāstu kaṇṭakāstrividhās tribhir doṣaiḥ, alāsa,
upajihvikā ceti ||
jihvā 'nilena sphuṭitā prasuptā bhavec ca
śākacchadanaprakāśā | pittena pītā paridahyate ca citā saraktair api kaṇṭakaiś
ca | kaphena gurvī bahalā citā ca māṃsodgamaiḥ śālmalikaṇṭakābhaiḥ ||
jihvātale yaḥ śvayathuḥ pragāḍhaḥ so 'lāsasaṃjñaḥ
kapharaktamūrtiḥ | jihvāṃ sa tu stambhayati pravṛddho mūle tu jihvā bhṛśam eti
pākam ||
jihvāgrarūpaḥ śvayathur hi jihvām unnamya jātaḥ
kapharaktayoniḥ | prasekakaṇḍūparidāhayuktā prakathyate 'sāv upajihviketi ||
tālugatās tu galaśuṇḍikā, tuṇḍikerī, adhruṣaḥ,
kacchapaḥ, arbudaṃ, māṃsasaṅghātaḥ, tālupuppuṭaḥ, tāluśoṣaḥ, tālupāka iti ||
śleṣmāsṛgbhyāṃ tālumūlāt pravṛddho dīrghaḥ śopho
dhmātabastiprakāśaḥ | tṛṣṇākāsaśvāsakṛt saṃpradiṣṭo vyādhir vaidyaiḥ
kaṇṭhaśuṇḍīti nāmnā ||
śophaḥ stabdho lohiṃtastāludeśe raktājñeyaḥ so 'dhruṣo
rugjvarāḍhyaḥ ||
kūrmotsanno 'vedano 'śīghrajanmā 'rakto jñeyaḥ kacchapaḥ
śleṣmaṇā syāt | padmākāraṃ tālumadhye tu śophaṃ vidyād raktād arbudaṃ
proktaliṅgam ||
duṣṭaṃ māṃsaṃ śleṣmaṇā nīrujaṃ ca tālvantaḥsthaṃ
māṃsasaṅghātam āhuḥ | nīruk sthāyī kolamātraḥ kaphāt syān medoyuktāt
puppuṭastāludeśe ||
śoso 'tyarthaṃ dīryate cāpi tāluḥ śvāso vātāttāluśoṣaḥ
sapittāt | pittaṃ kuryāt pākam atyarthaghoraṃ tāluny enaṃ tālupākaṃ vadanti ||
kaṇṭhagatās tu rohiṇyaḥ pañca, kaṇṭhaśālūkam, adhijihvo,
balayo, balāsa, ekavṛndo, vṛndaḥ, śataghnī, gilāyuḥ, galavidradhiḥ, galaughaḥ,
svaraghno, māṃsatāno, vidārī ceti ||
gale 'nilaḥ pittakaphau ca mūrcchitau pṛthak samastāś ca
tathaiva śoṇitam | pradūṣya māṃsaṃ galarodhino 'ṅkurān sṛjanti yān sā 'suharā
hi rohiṇī ||
jihvāṃ samantād bhṛśavedanā ye māṃsāṅkurāḥ
kaṇṭhanirodhinaḥ syuḥ | tāṃ rohiṇīṃ vātakṛtāṃ vadanti vātātm
akopadravagāḍhayuktām ||
kṣiprodgamā kṣipravidāhapākā tīvrajvarā pittanimittajā
syāt | srotonirodhiny api mandapākā gurvī sthirā sā kaphasaṃbhavā vai ||
gambhīrapākā 'prativāravīryā tridoṣaliṅgā trayasaṃbhavā
syāt | sphoṭācitā pittasamānaliṅgā 'sādhyā pradiṣṭā rudhirātmikeyam ||
kolāsthimātraḥ kaphasṃbhavo yo granthir gale
kaṇṭakaśūkabhūtaḥ | kharaḥ sthiraḥ śastranipātasādhyas taṃ kaṇṭhaśālūkam iti
bruvanti ||
jihvāgrarūpaḥ śvayathuḥ kaphāttu jihvāprabandhopari
raktamiśrāt | jñeyo 'dhijihvaḥ khalu roga eṣa vivarjayed āgatapākam enam ||
balāsa evāyatamunnataṃ ca śophaṃ karotyannagatiṃ nivārya
| taṃ sarvathaivāprativāravīryaṃ vivarjanīyaṃ valayaṃ vadanti ||
gale tu śophaṃ kurutaḥ pravṛddhau śleṣmānilau
śvāsarujopapannam | marmacchidaṃ dustaram etad āhur balāsasṃjñaṃ nipuṇā
vikāram ||
vṛttonnato yaḥ śvayathuḥ sadāhaḥ kaṇḍvanvito
'pākyamṛdurguruś ca | nāmnaikavṛndaḥ parikīrtito 'sau vyādhir
balāsakṣatajaprasūtaḥ ||
samunnataṃ vṛttam amandadāhaṃ tīvrajvaraṃ
vṛndamudāharanti | taṃ cāpi pittakṣatajaprakopādvidyāt satodaṃ pavanāsrajaṃ tu

vartir ghanā kaṇṭhanirodhinī yā citā 'timātraṃ
piśitaprarohaiḥ | nānārujocchrāyakarī tridoṣājjñeyā śataghnīva śataghny
asādhyā ||
granthirgale tvāmalakāsthimātraḥ sthiro 'lparuk syāt
kapharaktamūrtiḥ | saṃlakṣyate saktam ivāśanaṃ ca sa śastrasādhyas tu
gilāyusaṃjñaḥ ||
sarvaṃ galaṃ vyāpya samutthito yaḥ śopho rujo yatra ca
santi sarvāḥ | sa sarvadoṣo galavidradhis tu tasyaiva tulyaḥ khalu sarvajasya

śopho mahānannajalāvarodhī tīvrajvaro vātagaternihantā |
kaphena jāto rudhirānvitena gale galaughaḥ parikīrtyate 'sau ||
yo 'tipratāmyan śvasiti prasaktaṃ bhinnasvaraḥ
śuṣkavimuktakaṇṭhaḥ | kaphopadigdheṣv anilāyaneṣu jñeyaḥ sa rogaḥ śvasanāt
svaraghnaḥ ||
pratānavān yaḥ śvayathuḥ sukaṣṭo galoparodhaṃ kurute
krameṇa | sa māṃsatānaḥ kathito 'valambī prāṇapraṇut sarvakṛto vikāraḥ ||
sadāhatodaṃ śvayathuṃ saraktam antargale
pūtiviśīrṇamāṃsam | pittena vidyād vadane vidārīṃ pārśve viśeṣāt sa tu yena
śete ||
sarvasarās tu vātapittakaphaśoṇitanimittāḥ ||
sphoṭaiḥ satodair vadanaṃ samantād yasyācitaṃ sarvasaraḥ
sa vātāt |
raktaiḥ sadāhais tanubhiḥ sapītair yasyācitaṃ cāpi sa pittakopāt ||
kaṇḍūyutair alparujaiḥ sarvaṇair yasyācitaṃ cāpi sa vai
kaphena |
raktena pittodita eka eva kaiś cit pradiṣṭo mukhapākasaṃjñaḥ ||
iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ nidānasthāne mukharoganidānaṃ nāma ṣoḍaśo
'dhyāyaḥ ||16 ||
