dāmadyasya siddhatvāt || guṇahīṇaniṣedhasya latvāt punarvacanaṃ niyamārthaṃ viparītaguṇaṃ
nopanayed eva| śūdram api kṛtaguṇasaṃmpannam anupanītam adhyāyayed ity eke||
saṃpannaśabdaḥ kulaguṇān pratyekaṃ saṃbadhyate| guṇā vayaḥśaudhecādedhaḥśiśruguṇasaṃpannā uktāḥ| kulam
atrāyurvedādhyāyikulaṃ | yad āha carakaḥ|| rogabhijitiye vinā na
śiṣyādhyāyanavidhautavidyakulajagadvavātadridyaḥ| sā vidyā eṣāṃte ta dvidyaḥ| āyurvedādhyāyino
brāhmaṇakṣatriyavaiśyāḥ teṣāṃ kula jejātaṃ| adyavātadvidhād evāvṛttaṃ
tam āyurvedādhyayanajām ity arthaḥ|
yeṣv eva hi brāhmaṇādīnāṃ kaścidd eva kaṃ cid eva kaṃcideva viśiṣṭaṃ svakulani nānya iti| yapi śūdram api kulaguṇasampannasanupanītatīnyādikaṃ
athamaprārthavarṇavatti| te punar āyuvedodhyāyikulaja sa śūdrayāsarvajanā na ca gītena nirākṛtāḥ| tatprāsa
śūdravaiśya vidhyati| deśahāritāṃyārthāgrattilalakṣaṇālyām api śiṣyaguṇasaṃpadasatimabhidhyāyodhāya
upanayanavidhiṃ vaktum āha||
upanayanīyaṃ brāhmaṇam ityādi| upanayanīyam ity arhe kṛtyaḥ upanayanārhaṃ
pūrvāditaḥ guṇasampanna| praśasteṣu ditidithikaraṇamuhūrttanakṣatreṣu tatra
tithayaḥ prati padādayaḥ| karavāṇāni vālavādini muhūrtās triṃśaccivādyā aniplaaparyaṃtā|
nakṣastrāṇi aśvinīprabhṛtīni| teṣāṃ praśastatvaṃ
jyotiḥśāstrādidaṃ vacanādunneyaṃ| praśastāyāṃ diśi
prācyām vā udīcyāṃ vā|| sthaṇḍilaṃ vratasādhanapiṇḍikāṃ| agnim
upasamādhyāya saṃnnidhāne āropya kṣavihomikena vidhineti dārvīhomaproktena
kalpeta| tarta dārvīhomiko vidhiḥ brāhmaṇānāṃ chandovidāṃ prasiddhaḥ|
pratidaivatam ṛṣīś ceti cakāreṇa ṛṣīś cety atrāpi pratir apakṛṣyate
tena prati daivataṃ pratiṛṣīn ity arthaḥ tatra prīto bhuvatīti| brahmaṇe
svāhā| prajāpataye svāhā| agnībhyāṃ svāhā| iṃdrāya svāhā| pratyūṣati
iti dhanvaṃtaraye svāhā| bharaṣṭādvāthijāya svāhā ātreyāya svāhetyādi ya taṃ dvedaṃ prādhānyena gavikiṃ cavam āyurvedam api tahe saṃ
brāhmaṇādīnām api ta akulajānām eva
bhyupagamāt| bhūḍalya punar etad vidyā kulaja kasya kaḥ pāṭhā
vakā detasau śruteti pramayana
anekaśākhāśreyaṃ hy ekām ava karmmeti| carako śūdro vaiśyavidhyati|daśenābhyupagatāḥ| evam
āyurvedapāṭho pi tadyā cākaraṇoādyagninsamibhis tu
sarve śūdrapāṭhātiprasaṃgabhuyād vāyurvedapāṭhasākṣāt pāṭho tye| tadā
vyākaraṇādy api ṛṣibhis tu sarvaśūdrapāṭhān niprasaṃgabhayād
vāyurvedapāṭhe sākṣāt śūdragrahaṇaṃ na kṛtāṃcaitrayavidhyatideśam
anulabhate| tena mardamac chūdrapāṭhātiprasaṃgadoṣo vivekāśa eva| tathā
teṣva kulajasya pāṭho bhyupagamyate| ata duḥkulīnaṃ tyajediṣvānasahaṃ ca palaśaṭham ityādau vidho trijaṃ
śūdrajātim ity āha||
palakṣaṇenālajaśūdrasya niṣedhaḥ| yadi hiṇamānyena
śūdrajātiniṣedhatvāt|| tadā śūdrajatim ity āha| tena hārite pi śūdrapāṭhātimaṃgaḥ carake tiachidyakulajam athavā tadvidyavṛittiḥ m ity ukter
anekaśākhāśrayam ekam eva karmma saṃmato tatra brasuśru śaṇāṃ varṇānām iti
ke cit paṭhati| anye tu kṣatriyavaiśyayor adhyāpanenādhikāro daṣīvīti varṇayaṃti sthāpagaṃti āsamāpnoti pa jātiṃ sa vā jātir ucyata iti|
tasmād vijāti cādadhyāpanādhikāraḥ tan no āyurvedapāṭhahotiyaṃ na
sākṣād vijātitvaṃ asādhāraṇaprathamya
ṛtvijaṃ homadarśanāt|| anupanayanapūrvakaṃ ca dhāpanam uktaguṇasya
śūdrasyāpyati|
tato gnitriguṇa kṣīṇikṛtya triśabdāt kriyābhyāṃ vṛttiguṇaje
dvitricaturthāsu jātisu ca agnisākṣīdhām iti| kriyāviśeṣaṇaṃ śiṣyati|
śeṣaṇaṃvān na ca prādhānyaṃ prāpnuyād vihoti
saṃbaṃdhaḥ kāmādīn hi kṣetre tatra kāmo viṣṭastriviṣayasparśaḥ prakalpaḥ athavā śabdādiṣu grahapratahir vā kāmo
diṣva grahapravṛttisu vidyākūlaṃ kovaḥ parasyatyakārapūrvikā haravitejaḥ
lātetharadhagrahā mohas tu tavajñāne mūḍhatā sā vṛttadribhiḥ kāraṇorat
jñānāsaṃśayāṣiṣyāṃ jñānātveti| mānasmarvaproktarṣeṇotmajño jñānaṃ
kāryaḥ| pratipravṛttiḥ hakṣāḥ iṣṭāpi
rasambāho prārāṣṭyaṃ vātyūkṣaṇā
paikubhyaṃ avadātā| pravṛttam asatyaṃ|| asaha| ativānyata jñakāni satyādipahapaṇeti tat pratyekam abhimaṃdrasyatetiṣya pravṛttim ātmani
samya śiṣyeṣū prabhṛtiniyann āha
ahaṃvetyādi anyaprakāradarśī bhaveyaṃprakāradaṇīyāṣṭāsyā| enobhgbhaveyaṃ
tayacodā

bhavāmītyarthaḥ
enaḥ pāpaṃ bhavartār vidho liṅ||tyādi|| ana śiṣyasyāture pravṛttiṃ
niṣayamayann āha||kidvijaguruvadaaridretyādi|ṣu
satyam arthalābhena pratikartavyaṃ vyāśūdeṣu jāhasādayaḥ| kuniṣāḥ pakṣiṇā
hantāsī patitāḥ bhṛevaṃ kṛte kiṃ yaḥ
sam ity āha vidyā prakāśaka svaṃyaṃ prakāśaṃ yātīti karmakarttari
prayogaḥ mitrātīś cādyijātipadhasupanījanadhiṣṭho na
śāstradhyeta|
tat kasamin kāle dhyeyam iti nidedha sukhena vidhiṃ prati pādayaṃnn
āha kṛṣṇāṣṭamītyādi| athavā naikastāhisādipravāhaṇaḥ dvādho di
parihārādri prakāśyate
tatphalavāptiś ca| api dveṣu ca kāleṣv adhyayanaparihārādibhiḥ darkayitum
ahā kṛṣṇe patneḥ 'ṣṭamī tannidhane kṛṣṇapakṣanidhane vasānna dve hamī
caturdasī| paurṇamāsīṣu nādhyeyam itinu nādhyeyam alyaṣu ca yeṣu
viprānādhīyata iti ānenāpagṛhīta vyenyena pratipado viprā nādhīyate hy
ābhyanupratipādāv anyec ca pragṛhīmṛ śākhāvidhana iti| kṛṣṇanidhane hani nādhyayaṃ || teno māvāsyā gṛhītā
eṣāhanī dve anyakṛtakṛtye ca sutī dve asakāpāṃtanidhana iti sāmīpya antam anuvarttanīyaṃ tana tanidhanasamīpe
hi na dvavaṃ tat punaś caturdaśī pratipad iti nyadvimokṣa nidhanasamīpaṃ dināṃtarātītatasmiti| aho niniharadravyaḥ yasmin niyantum āha| ahardvisandhyaṃhayoḥ
saṃ dhyayoḥ samāhāraḥ dvisaṃdhyaṃty ekalavidyutatajjayitnughoṣa ity
akālanidyuti| akālastanayiituṣodho
akālavidyut| avidyudgrahaṇavarṣopalakṣaṇaṃ| tenākīāliki
vṛṣṭirgṛhyate akālavṛṣṭir anṛtuvṛṣṭiḥ| nā tu
hemantaśirahyana taduktaṃ| pauṣādicaturo māsān smṛtā
vṛṣṭiḥ kālikīti| akālakarihadhoś ca ke cit saṃdhamameghadhvanim
ācakṣate| ke cid anārtavaṃ|ghūnayintur meghaḥ
svataṃtrarāṣṭrakṣitipaṭhyasvāsvitiśca| pratyekam abhisaṃbaṃdhyate| tatra balarāṣṭramaṃdalaṃ
teṣāṃ vakṣaḥpīḍāḥ ṣṭyān amṛtam
artyadāhasthānāṃ yānaṃ hastyādi| ādyatanaṃ vadhasthānaṃ ahaśca ||
prāṇino sminn iti kṛ cāa mahotsavaḥ
śakrotsavādi| utpatiḥ prāṇinā niṣṭāniś ca śrūvadhāḥ| paṃca mahābhūtānāṃ
pariṇāmaviśeṣaḥ anye tu vividhaḥ
cakṣate bheṣaḥbhariktadivyam iti| utpātay
evotpāditatvadi cayāditvāt rthe vañ anuktasaṃgrahārtham āha| nādhyayam
anyeṣu cetyādi| te ca kālavisasaḥviśeṣāḥchaṃdogānāṃ
vacanād evāvagaṃtavyāḥ| anye dataṃtrāṃtatāṃmatrāmrisyajīyajuṣṭo sukhaḥ| lapuktvā āddarūpake yo 'pi
drivittapra
striyāṃ sācaṃḍrayoḥ dāraṇe
pūtigaṃdhavaparideti datisvate| rājaś caśruvāyāte jasthahvādīnāṃrohāt paṭhati yo naraḥ| sārvatraṃ
samahāṃtvaṃ hi labhatetyājariḍrivāyoṣiṣyāyaṃ upanīyo dhyāyaḥ||
