hitārthaṃ parivarjayet | rajasvalāṃ prārasyā niyatātmanaḥ | dṛṣṭyāyustejasāṃ hāniradharmaś ca tato bhavet | liṅginīṃ gurupatnīñ ca sagotrām atha parvasu | vṛddhāṃ sandhyayoś cāpi garchato jīvitakṣayaḥ ca | upadaṃśas tathā vāyoḥ kopaḥ syād retasaḥ kṣayaḥ | uccārite mūtrite ca retasaś ca vidhāraṇe | uttāne ca bhavec chīghraṃ śukrārśmaryās tu sambhavaḥ | tasmāt sarvaṃ parihared etal lokadvayāhitaṃ | vayor ūpaguṇo py etāṃ kulya kulānvitāṃ | abhikāmoptikāmāṃś ca hṛṣṭo hṛṣṭām alaṅkṛtāṃ | seveta pramadān nityaṃ vyājīkaraṇapītavān | śarkaropahitāṃ bhakṣyāṃ kṣīrañ cāpi saśarkaraṃ | vyajanaṃ svapnasevā ca vyavāyānte hitāni tu | sukhamātraṃ samāsena sadvṛttasyetad īritaṃ | āyur ārogyam artho vā nāsadbhiḥ prāpyate tribhir iti ||

[Adhyāya 30] athāto nivṛttasantāpīyaṃ rasāyanaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ || yathā nivṛttasantāpā modantedivi devatāḥ | tathauṣadhyastvimāḥ prāpya modante bhuvi mānavāḥ || atha khalu saptavidhāḥ puruṣā rasāyanaṃ nopayuñjīran | tad yathā | anātmavānalaso daridraḥ pramādī vyasanī pāpiṣṭho bheṣajāpamānī ceti || saptabhiḥ kāraṇair na saṃpadyante | tad yathā | ajñānādarambhādasthiracittatvād dāridrādanāyatanādāyāsādauṣadhālābhācceti || athauṣadhīn vakṣyāmaḥ | tatrājagarī svetakāpotī gonasī kṛṣṇakāpotī vārāhī cchatrāticchatrā kanyā kareṇu ajā takrakād ity aparṇṇinī vrahmasuvarcalā mahāsrāvaṇī golāmī mahāvegavatī cetyaṣṭādaśa somasamavīryāmahauṣadhayo vyākhyāḥ || tatra tāsāṃ somavat kriyāsīstutatayaḥ śāstrebhihitāḥ | tāsāmagārebhihitānāṃ yāḥ kṣīravatyastāsāṃ kṣīrakuḍavaṃ sakṛdevopuyañjīta | yāstvakṣīrāmūlavatyastāsāṃ pradeśinī pramāṇānī trīṇi kāṇḍāni pramāṇam upayoge | svetakāpotī samūlavṛttā bhakṣayitavyā | gonasyājagarī kṛṣṇakāpotīnāṃ sanakhaṃ muṣṭiṃ kāṇḍasaḥ kalpayitvā kṣīreṇa visrāvya pratisāritamabhighāritamabhihutañ ca sakṛdevopayuñjīta | tatastāsāṃ yānyāpayasā sakṛdeva vrahmasuvarcalā saptarātram upayoktavyā | bhakṣakalpena | śeṣāṇāṃ pañca pañca palāni kṣīrāḍhakakathitāni prasthevaśiṣṭe parisrāvya sakṛdevopayuñjīta | somena cāhāravihārāḥ vyākhyātāḥ | kevalaṃ tu navanītamabhyaṃ gārthe | śeṣaṃ somavadānirgamāditi || bha || yuvānaṃ sihaṃvikrāntaṃ sakṛcchrubhanigāditaṃ | kuryuretāḥ krameṇaivaṃ dvisahasrāyuṣaṃ naraṃ || aṅgadī kuṇḍalī maulī divyasrakcandanāmvaraḥ caratyamoghasaṅkalpo nabhasyaṃrvudanirgame | vrajanti pakṣiṇo yena jalalamvāś ca toyadāḥ | gatistvauṣadhasiddhasya somasiddhigatiḥ parāḥ || > atha vakṣyāmi vijñānamauṣadhīnāṃ pṛthak pṛthak | maṇḍalaiḥ kapilaiścitrā sarpābhā pañcaparṇṇinī | pañcārannipramāṇā ca vijñeyājagarīrvudhaiḥ || niḥpatrāḥ kanakābhāśā mūlinyaṅguṣṭhasammitā | sarpākārā lohitākṣī svetakāpotir ucyate || dviparṇṇinī mūlabhavāmaruṇāṃ kṛṣṇamaṇḍalā | dvirannipramāṇāñjānīyād gonasīṃ gonasākṛtiṃ || sakṣīrāṃ romasāṃ mṛdvī rasecekṣurasopamāṃ | evaṃ rūparasāṃ cāpi kṛṣṇakāpotim ādiśet || kṛṣṇasarpasyarūpeṇa vārāhī kandasambhavā | ekapatryā mahāvīryā bhinnāñjanasamaprabhā | cchatrāticchatrike vidyādrakṣoghnā kandasambhave || jarāmṛtyunivāriṇyau svetakāpotisaṃsthite | kāntair dvādaśabhiḥ patrai mayūravarahopamaiḥ | kandajā kāñcanakṣīrī kanyā nāma mahauṣadhī | kareṇuḥ suvahukṣīrā kandena gajarūpiṇāṃ | hastikarṇṇapalāśasyāt tūlyapatrādviparṇṇinī | ajānanābhakandā tu sakṣīrākṣuparūpiṇī | ajā mahauṣadhī jñeyā śaṅkhakundendu pāṇḍurā | svetā vicitrakusumā kākādani samacchadāḥ takrakāmauṣadhīṃ vidyājjarāmṛtyuvināśanī | mūlinīṃ pañcabhiḥ patraiḥ suraktāṃśukakomalaiḥ | ādity aparṇṇinī jñeyā sadād ity ānuvarttinī | kanakābhā jalānteṣu sarvataḥ parisarpati | sakṣīrā padminīprakhyā devīvrahmasuvarcalā | rannipramāṇākṣupavat patrair dvyaṃgulasammitaiḥ | puṣpai nīlotpalākāraiḥ phalaiś cāñjanasaprabhai || srāvaṇī mahatī jñeyā kanakābhā payasvinī | srāvaṇīpāṇḍurā tu syāt mahāsrāvaṇilakṣaṇā | golomī cājalomī ca romaśe kandasambhave | haṃsapādī ca vicchinnaiḥ patrair mūlasamudbhavaiḥ | athavā śaṃkhapuṣpāyāḥ samānāḥ sarvarūpataḥ | vegena mahatāviṣṭā sarpanirmokasannibhā | eṣā vegavatī nāma jāyate hy amvudakṣaye | saptādau sarparūpiṇyau yastvauṣadhyaḥ prakīrttitā | tāsāmuddharaṇaṃ kāryaṃ mantreṇānena sarvadā || mahendararāmakṛṣṇānāṃ vrāvām api | tapasā tejasā caiva praśāmyadhvaṃ śivāya vai || anena mantreṇa sarva bheṣajāni parijapediti | aśraddadhānairalasaiḥ kṛtaghnaiḥ pāpakartṛbhiḥ | na śakyamāsādayituṃ somāḥ somāsamās tathā | pītāvaśeṣamamṛtaṃ devair vrahmapurogamaiḥ | nihitaṃ somavīryāsu some cātī || devasūtre hradavare tathā sindhu mahānade | dṛśyate ca jalānteṣu devī vrahmasurvarcalā | ādityaparṇṇinī caiva tathaiva himasaṃ kṣaye | dṛśyatejagarī nityaṃ gonasī cāmvudāgameḥ | kaśmīre tu sadā yantramānasaṃ nāmaviśrutaṃ | kareṇus tatra kanyā ca cchatrāticchatrike tathā | golomī cājalomī ca mahatī śrāvaṇī tathā | hemante kṛṣṇasarpābhā vasante cātra dṛśyate | nadīṃ kauśikīm uttīrya saṃjayantyās tu pūrvataḥ | kṣitipradeśo valmīkair āvṛto yojanatrayaṃ || vidheyā tatra kāpotī svetā valmīkamūdhasu | malaye nalasetau ca vegavatyauṣadhī dhruvā | kārttikyāṃ paurṇṇamāsyān tu dṛśyate nātra saṃśayaḥ | somavaccātra vartteta vidhirānirgamāditi || sarvā vidheyās tv auṣadhyaḥ somaś cāpy arvude girau | sa śṛṅgair devacaritair amvudānīkabhedibhiḥ | vyāptastīthaiś ca vikhyātaiḥ siddharṣisurasevitaiḥ | guhābhir bhīmarūpābhiḥ siṃhonnāditanādibhiḥ | gajāloḍitatoyābhir āpagābhiḥ samantataḥ | vividhair dhātubhiś citrais sarvatraivopaśobhitaḥ | nadīṣu śaileṣu sarassu cāpi puṇyeṣv araṇyeṣu tathāśrameṣu | sarvatra sarvāḥ parimārgitavyāḥ sarvatra bhūmir hi vasūn nidhatta iti || cila 0 || ❈ || śukraṃ mukhaṃ śophamanāgatañ ca miśran tathākṣīṇavalendriyañ ca | āvādhasarva pratiṣedhamedhā svabhāvantāpanivṛttakañ ca ||

[Adhyāya 31] athātaḥ snehopayogacikitsitaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ dviyoniścaturvikalpobhihitaḥ snehaḥ snehaguṇāś ca | tatra jaṅgamebhyo gavyaṃ snehaṃ pradhāṇatamaṃ sthāvarebhyas tilasneha iti || ata ūrdhvaṃ yathāprayojanato yathāpradhānataś ca | sthāvarasnehāṃ vakṣyāmaḥ | tatra tilvakairaṇḍakuśāmradantīpalāśaśaṅkhinīviṣāṇigavākṣīkampilyakaśampākanīlinīsnehā virecayanti |. jīmūtakakūṭajakṛtavedhanekṣvākumadanasnehā vāmayanti |. viḍaṅgasthū lamañjarīmadhuśigrusūryavallīpīlusiddhārthakajyotiṣmatīsnehāḥ śiro virecayanti | vibhītakapiṇḍītakabhallātakasnehāḥ kṛṣṇīkaraṇeṣu |. śravaṇakaṃgukasnehāḥ pāṇḍūkaraneṣu | saralāpītadāruśiṃśapāsanasārasnehāḥ dardrukiṭibheṣu | sarva eva snehā vātam upahanti | tailaguṇāḥ samāsena vyākhyātāḥ || ata ūrdhvaṃ kaṣāyapākakramam upadekṣyāmaḥ || tatra kecidāhus tvak patrapuṣpaphalādīnāṃ bhāgastaccaturguṇamudakaṃ caturthāṃśāvaśeṣitaṃ kvāthyāvatārayed ity eṣa kaṣāyakalpaḥ | tat tu na samyak kasmād āgamasiddhatvāt palakuḍavādīnām ity etac copadekṣyāmaḥ | tatra dvādaśadhānyamāṣā madhyamā suvarṇṇamāṣakaste śoḍaṣasuvarṇṇāḥ | ataścordhvaṃ caturguṇamabhivardhayataḥ palakuḍavaprasthāḍhakadroṇā abhiniṣpadyante | tulā punaḥ palaśataṃ tābhir viṃśatir bhāraḥ śuṣkāṇām ārdrāṇāṃ dravāṇāṃ ca dviguṇam iti | snehakukuḍavesāṇyakvāthyadravyadurvyaprastho vidheyas taccaturguṇamudakaṃ caturthāṅgāvaśeṣitaṃ kvāthyāvatārayed ity eṣa kaṣāyakalpaḥ | snehakuḍavesāṇya bheṣajapalaṃ kalkam iṣṭaṃ caturguṇañ ca kaṣāyam āvāpya vipaced ity eṣa snehapākakalpa iti || bha |. snehabheṣajatoyānāṃ mānaṃ yatra tu neritaṃ | tatrāyaṃ vidhir āstheyo nirdiṣṭe tadvad eva tu || anukte dravakārye tu sarvatra salilaṃ smṛtaṃ | kalkakvāthāvanirdeśe gaṇāt tasmāt samādhayet || ata ūrdhvaṃ snehapākakramam upadekṣyāmaḥ | sa tu pākas tṛvidho mṛduścikkanaḥ kharacikkaṇa iti | dhavivekamātraṃ yatra bheṣajaṃ sa mṛduḥ | madhūcchiṣṭamivalepayati yatra bheṣajaṃ sa cikkaṇaḥ | phenāni mātra vailasya śeṣaṃ ghṛtavadādiśet kṛṣṇamavasannamīṣadviśadaṃ cikkaṇaṃ ca yatra sa kharacikkaṇa iti |. ata ūrdhvaṃ pradagdhasneha bhavati | taṃ punaḥ sādhayet | tatra pānābhya va nasyābhyañjanīyaś cikkaṇaḥ | vastisnehāḥ kharacikkaṇa iti || śabdasyoparame prāpte phenasyoparame tathā |. gandhavarṇṇarasānāñ ca sampattau siddham ādiśet || ataḥ snehapānakramam upadekṣyāmaḥ | atha laghukoṣṭhāyāturāya kṛtamaṃgalāyodayagiriśikharaprasthite prataptakanakapītalohite savitari yathābalaṃ tailasya ghṛtasya vā mātraṃ prayacchet | kevalaṃ paittike sarpir vātike lavaṇānvitaṃ | deyaṃ vahukaphe tailaṃ savyoṣakṣārasaṃyutaṃ | snehasātmyaḥ kleśasaho dṛḍhaḥ kāle ca śītale acchamevapivet sneham acchapānaṃ hi śobhaṇaṃ | śīte kāle divāsnehamuṣṇe kāle pivenniśi | vātapittādhiko rātrau | vātaśleṣmādhiko divā | vātapitthādhikasyoṣṇe mūrcchonmāda tṛṣāvahaḥ | śīte vātakaphārttasya gauravāruca śūlakṛt | snehapītas tu tṛṣṇāyāṃ piveduṣṇodakannaraṃ | evañ cānupaśāmyantī snehamuṣṇāmbunoddharet | yā mātrā parijīryeta caturbhāgagate na hi sā mātrā dīpayatyagnim alpadoṣe ca pūjitā | yā mātrā parijīryeta tatrārdhadivase gate sā vṛṣyāvṛṃhaṇīyā ca madhyadoṣe ca pūjitā | yā mātrā parijīryeta caturbhāgāvaśeṣite snehanīyā ca sā mātrā vahudoṣe ca śasyate | yā snehamātrājīryeta jantoḥ pariṇatehani glānimūrcchāmadāṃ hitvā sā mātrā snehanī matā | ahorātrādasaṃduṣṭā yā mātrā parijīryati sā tu kuṣṭhaviṣonmādagrahāpasmāranāśanī | yathāgniṃ pratimāṃ mātrāṃ pāyayeta vicakṣaṇaḥ | pīto hy ativahusneho janayet prāṇasaṃśayaṃ | mithyācārādvahutvād vā yasya sneho na jīryati | viṣṭabhya vāpi jīryeta vāriṇauṣṇena vāmayet | tataḥ snehaṃ punardadyāllaghukoṣṭhāya dehine | jīrṇṇājīrṇṇaviśaṃkāyāṃ piveduṣṇodakaṃ naraḥ | tenodgāro bhavet chuddho ruciś cānnaṃ bhavet prati | pariṣicyādbhir uṣṇābhiḥ jīrṇṇasnehe tatonaraṃ | yavāgū pāyayed uṣṇāṃ suklinnāmalpataṇḍulāṃ | deyau yuṣaraso syātām akṛtau saindhavānvitau | kṛtau cāpy alpasarpiṣkau vilepītā vidhīyate | pived dvyahaṃ tryahaṃ vāpi pañcāhaṃ ṣaḍahāni vā | saptarātrāt paraṃ snehaḥ sātmībhāvāya kalpate | snehadviṣaḥ kṛṣāṃ vṛddhāṃ sukumāraṃ śiśūnapi | tṛṣṇālūñcoṣṇakāle ca saha bhaktena pāyayet || pippalyo lavaṇaṃ snehāś catvāro dadhimas tu ca | pītamekadhyametat tu sadya snehanamucyate | bhṛṣṭamāṃsarase snigdhā yavāgū sūpalpitā | sakṣaudrāḥ pīyamānā tu sadyasnehanamucyate || śarkarāghṛtasaṃsṛṣṭe duhyād gāṃkalaśetha tat | pāyayed ṛkṣametad hi sadya snehanamucyate || yavakolakulatthānāṃ kvātho māgadhikā yutāḥ | payo dadhi surā ceti ghṛtam apy aṣṭamaṃ bhavet | siddhametad ghṛtaṃ pītaṃ sadyasnehanamucyate |. nṛpāṇāṃ tat samānānāṃ deyametad ghṛtottamaṃ | balahīneṣu vṛddheṣu mṛdvagnistrī mahātmani | alpadoṣeṣu yojyā syu ye yogāḥ samyagīritāḥ || vivarjayet snehapānamajīrṇṇī taruṇajvarī | durvalārocakī sthūlo mūrcchārtto madapīḍitaḥ | chardyābhibhūtastṛṣitaḥ śrāntaḥ pānaklamānvitaḥ | vastidatto viriktaś ca vānto yaś cāpi mānavaḥ | akāle ca prasūtā strī snehapānaṃ vivarjayet | snehapānād bhaved nṝṇāṃ nānāvidhā gadāḥ | gadā vā kṛcchratāṃ yānti na sidhyantyatra vā yataḥ || rūkṣaṃ purīśaṃ grathitaṃ bhuktaṃ kṛcchreṇa pacyate | durvarṇṇo durbalaś caiva rūkṣo bhavati mānavaḥ || glāniḥ sadanamaṅgānām adhastāt snehadarśanaṃ | samyak snigdhasya liṅgāni snehodvegas tathaiva ca || bhaktadveṣo mukhāsrāvo gudadāha pravāhikā | purīśātipravṛttiś ca tadatisnigdhalakṣaṇaṃ || rūkṣasya snehanaṃ snehairatisnigdhasya rūkṣaṇaṃ | śyāmākakoradūṣānnatakrapiṇyākaśaktubhiḥ || dīptāntaragniḥ pariśuddhakoṣṭhaḥ pratyagradhāturbalavarṇṇayuktaḥ | dṛḍhendriyo mandarajāḥ śatāyuḥ snehopasevī puruṣo bhaved hi | sneho hito durbalavahnidehesandhukṣaṇe vyādhinipīḍitasya | valānvito bhojanadoṣajātaiḥ pramardituṃ tau sahasā na śakyāviti ||

[Adhyāya 32] athātaḥ svedāvacāraṇīyaṃ cikitsitaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ|| tatra caturvidhaḥ svedā bhavati |. tad yathā tāpasvedo bāṣpasvedaḥ |upanāhasvedo dravasvedaś ceti | tatra svedavikalpāvarodhaḥ | tatra tāpasvedo nāmapālikāṃ sakandaphalavāṃlikāvastraiḥ prayujyate śayānasya bāṣpatāpoṅgāraiḥ || bāṣpasvedas tu kapālapāṣāṇoṣṭakalohapiṇḍān agnivarṇān adbhir āsicyatairārdravastrapariveṣṭitaiḥ | svedayed aṅgapradeśā evaṃ māṃsarasapayodadhisnehadhānyāmvlavātaharapatrabhaṃgakvāthapūrṇṇam vā kumbhīm abhiprataptāṃ prāvṛtyoṣmāṇaṃ gṛhṇīyāt | pārśvacchidreṇa vā kumbhena tasyāḥ kumbhyāmukhena mukhamabhis andhāya tasminañchidrehastiśuṇḍākāraṃ nāḍīṃ praṇidhāya śayānaṃ svedayet sukhopaviṣṭaṃ svabhyaktaṃ prāvṛtam vā |. bha || hastiśuṇḍikayā nāḍyā svedayed vātarogiṇaṃ | sukhaṃ sarvānugā hyeṣā na ca saṃkleṣayen naraṃ || vyāmārdhamātratrivakrahastihastasamākṛtiḥ | svedanārthe hitā nāḍī kailiñjī hastiśuṇḍikā || puruṣāyāmamātram vā bhūmim utkīrya khādiraiḥ kāṣṭair avadāhyābhyukṣya vātahara patrabhaṅgairavacchādya śayānaṃ svedayet | śilātalamavadāhyāpohya bhasmaṃ ca pūrvavat | kuṭīm vā caturdvārāṃ kṛtvā tasyām upaviṣṭasyāntaś caturvāṃgārān anuparidhāya svedayet | kāśadhānyāni vā samyagusvedyāstīrya kiliñjenyasmiṃ vā tatpratirūpake śayānaṃ svedayed evaṃ pāṃśu gośakṛttuṣapa lāloṣmabhiḥ svedayed iti || upanāhasvedas tu vātaharadravyakalkair amvlapiṣṭair lavaṇapragāḍhaiḥ susnigdhaiḥ sukhoṣṇaiś ca pradihya svedayed evaṃ kākolyādirelāsu rasādim āhṛtya tilātasīsarṣapakalkair vā kṛsaraveśavārapāyasotkārikābhir vā etābhir eva vāyo dūlikāṃ vadhvā svedayet || dravasvedas tu vātaharadravyakvāthapūrṇṇakoṣṭakaṭāhe droṇyām vāvagāhya svedayet | evaṃ payomāṃsarasayūṣatailaghṛtadhānyāmvlamūtreṣvetair eva sukhoṣṇaiḥ pariṣiñcediti || tatra tāpoṣmāsvede viśeṣataḥ śleṣmaghnau | upanāhasvedo vātaghnaḥ | anyatarasmiṃ pittasaṃsṛṣṭadravasveda iti || caturvidho yo 'bhihito dvādhā svedaḥ prayujyate | svasminn eva dehe tu dehasyāvayave tathā | yeṣān nasyaṃ vidhātavyaṃ bastiś cāpi hi dehināṃ | śodhanīyāś ca ye kecit pūrvaṃ svedyās tu me matāḥ || paś cāt svedyāhṛte śalye mūḍhagarbhānupadravā | samyak prajātā kāle ca paś cāt svedyaiva jānatāṃ || pūrvāṃ svedyā paś cāc ca bhagandaryarśaśas tathā | aśmaryāṃ cāturo jantu śeṣāñcāstre pravakṣyate || nānabhyakte nāpi cā snigdhadehe yojyaḥ svedyaḥ svedavidbhiḥ kathañcit | dṛṣṭaṃ loke kāṣṭham asnigdhamāśur yāyāt bhaṅgaṃ svedayogair gṛhītaṃ || svedaklinnā dhātusaṃsthā tu doṣāḥ svasthānasthā ye ca mārgeṣu līnāḥ | samyak svedair yojitais te dravatvaṃ prāptāḥ koṣṭhaṃ śodhanair yātyaśeṣāḥ || agne dīptin mārdavaṃ tvakprasādaṃ bhaktaśraddhāṃ srotasāṃ nirmalatvaṃ | kuryāt svedas tandrīnidre ca hanyāt | sandhīm katvāṃśceṣṭayed āśuyuktaḥ | svedāsrāvo vyādhihānirlaghutvaṃ śītārthitvaṃ mārdavaṃ cāturasya | samyaksvinne lakṣaṇaṃ prāhuretat | mithyāsvinne viparītaṃ tad eva || sphoṭotpattiḥ pittaraktaprakopo madāmūrcchābhramadāho klamaś ca | atisvinne sandhipīḍā ca tṛṭca śītā kriyās tatra kuryād vidhijñaḥ || pāṇḍumehī raktapittī tṛṣārttaḥ kṣutakṣīṇo durvalo jīrṇṇabhaktaḥ || dakodarīgarbhiṇī pānapañca naite svedyā yaścamartyotisārī | svedād eṣā yāṃti dehāvināśaṃ asādhyatvaṃ yānti caiṣāṃ vikārāḥ | svedaiḥ sādhyo durvalojīrṇṇabhaktā yadi syātāṃ svedanīyau tatastau | sarvasvedāṃ nivāte tu jīrṇṇānne cāvacārayet | snehābhyaktaśarīrasya śītair ācchādya cakṣuṣī | atisvinnam athāsvābhya śītāṃbutrāsanaṃ hitaṃ | snānam uṣṇāmbunā caiva nivatañcālayayet | bhojayec cānabhiṣyandi sarvaṃ vācāram ādiśed iti ||

[Adhyāya 33] athāto vamanavirecanasādhyopakramacikitsitaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ doṣāḥ kṣīṇā bṛṃhayitavyāḥ calitāḥ praśamayitavyāḥ pravṛddhā nirhattavyāḥ svasthānasthārakṣyā iti siddhāntaḥ || prādhānyena vamanavirecanenirharaṇe varttate | tasmāt tayor vidhānam ucyamānam upadhārayasva | tad yathāturaṃ snigdhasvinnam anabhiṣyandibhir āhārair anavabaddhadoṣam ālocya svo vamanaṃ pāyayitāsmīti saṃbhojayet | saṃbhojyas tu tīkṣṇāgnir balavān bahudoṣo mahāvyādhiparigṛhīto vamanasātmyaś ca || peśalair vividhairannair doṣamutkliśya dehinaḥ | snigdhasvinnāya vamanaṃ dattaṃ samyak pravarttate | athāparedyuḥ pūrvāhṇe sādhāraṇe kāle vamanadravyakaṣāyakalkacūrṇṇasnehanānyatamasya mātrāṃ pāyayitvā vāmayet | asātmyabībhatsadudarśanadurgandhāni vāmanīyāni vidadhyād ato viparītāni |. tatra sukumārāṃ kṛśaṃ bālaṃ tatrāsthāpanam evāśu prayojyaṃ sānuvāsanaṃ || alpam bhuktavatolpāśaḥ sneho mandaguṇas tathā | datto naiti klamotkleśo bhṛśañ cāritam āvahet || tatrāpyāsthāpanaṃ kāryaṃ śodhanīyena bastinā | anuvāsanañ ca snehena śodhane naiva śasyate || ahorātrād api snehaḥ pratyāgacchan na duṣyati | kuryād bastiguṇām̐ś cāpi jīrṇṇasvalpaguṇo bhavet || anāyāntam ahorātrāt snehāṃ śaṃśodhanair haret | [Adhyāya 39] athāta āturopadravakitsitaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ || snehapīsya vāntasya viriktasyāśrutāsṛjaḥ | nirūḍhasya ca kāyāgnir mando bhavati dehinaḥ | so nnair atyarthagurubhir upayuktaiḥ praśāmyati | alpo mahadbhir bahudhā chādite gnir ivendhanaiḥ | sa cālpair laghubhiś cānnair upayuktair vivardhate | kāṣṭhair aṇubhir alpaiś ca sandhukṣita ivānalaḥ | hṛtadoṣapramāṇena sa cāhāravidhiḥ smṛtaḥ | trīṇi cātra pramāṇāni prastho rdhāḍhakam āḍhakam || tatrāvaraṃ prasthamātraṃ dve śeṣe madhyamottame | prasthe tv eke gate deyā yavāgūsvalpatāṇḍulā | dve caivārdhāḍhake deye tisraś cāpy āḍhake gate | vilepīmucitādbhaktāc caturthāṃśakṛtām bhiṣak | dadyāt klinnan tataḥ paścāt mudgayūṣeṇa bhojanaṃ | tribhāgakalitaṃ samyag akṛtenārddhasammitaṃ | tatas tu kṛtasaṃjñena hṛdyenendriyabodhinā | trīn aṅśād vitare bhoktum āturāyonaṃ prati | tato yathocitaṃ bhaktaṃ bhoktum asmai vicakṣaṇaḥ | lāvainahariṇādīnāṃ rasair dadyāt susaṃskṛtaiḥ | hīnamadhyottameṣv eṣu virekeṣu prakīrttitaḥ | ekadvitriguṇaḥ samyag āhārasya kramo hitaḥ | vedanālābhaniyam aśokavaicityahetubhiḥ | narān upoṣitaṃś cāpi viriktavad upācaret | āḍhakārdhāḍhakaprasthasaṃkhyā hy eṣā virecane | śleṣmānto hi virekaḥ syād etad icchanti kecana | eko virekaḥ śleṣmānto na dvitīyaḥ kadācana | balaṃ yat trividhaṃ proktam atas tatra kramas tridhā | tatrānukramam ekan tu balasthe sakṛd ācaret | madhyame dvau kramau kuryāt trīn vārān durbale tathā | kecid evaṃ kramaṃ prāhur mandamadhyottamāgniṣu kevalaṃ snehapītto vā vānto yaś cāpi kevalaṃ | sa saptarātraṃ manujo bhuñjīta laghu bhojanaṃ | sirāvedhakṛto yaś ca virikto yaś ca mānavaḥ | māsam parihared agnir yāvan na balavāṃ bhavet | tryahaṃ tryahaṃ parihared ekaikam bastim āturaḥ | tṛtīye parihāre tu yathāyogaṃ samācaret | tailapātrāmamṛdbhāṇḍasadharmāṇo vraṇāturāḥ | snigdhaśuddhāgnirogārttā jvarātīsāriṇaś ca ye | krudhyataḥ kupitaḥ pittaṃ kuryāns tāns tān upadravān | āyāsyataḥ śocato vā cittaṃ vibhramam arcchati | maithunopagamād ghorāṃ vyādhīn arcchati durmatiḥ | ākṣepakaṃ pakṣāghātam aṅgapragraham eva ca | guhyapradeśe śvayathuṃ kāśaśvāsau ca dāruṇau | śukravac cāsya rudhiraṃ sarujaṃ sampravarttate | divāsvapnāt tu labhate tāṃs tā vyādhīn kaphātmakāṃ | pratiśyāyaṃ jvaraṃ śophaṃ pāṇḍurogaṃ plihodaraṃ | mohaṃ sadanam aṅgānāṃ sāvipākam arocakaṃ | tamasā cābhibhūtaś ca svapnam evābhinandati | uccaiḥ sambhāṣaṇād vāyuḥ śirasy āpādayed rujaṃ | āndhyam vādhiryamaghratvaṃ mūkatā jaḍatām api | arditaṃ sahanum mokṣam adhīmantha dāruṇaṃ | labhate dantacālañ ca tāṃs tāṃś cānyān upadravān | yānayānāt tu labhate cchardiṃ mūrcchā bhramaṃ klamaṃ | tathāṅgapragrahaṃ ghoram indriyāṇāñ ca vibhramaṃ | cirāsanāt tathā sthānāc chroṇyāṃ bhavati vedanā || aticaṅkramaṇād vāyur jaṃghorvvoḥ kurute rujaḥ | sakthnoḥ praśoṣaṃ śopham vā pādaharṣam athāpi vā | śītasambhogatoyānāṃ sevā mārutavṛddhaye | vātātapābhyām vaivarṇyaṃ jvaraṃ vāpi nigacchati || viruddhādhyaśanān mṛtyuṃ vyādhiṃ vā ghoram arcchati | asātmyabhojanād dhanyād balavarṇṇāvasaṃśayaṃ | anātmavantaḥ paśuvad bhuñjate ye pramāṇataḥ | rogānīkasya te mūlam ajīrṇṇāt prāpnuvanti haḥ | vyāpadāṃ kāraṇaṃ vīkṣya vyāpatsv eteṣu buddhimān | prayatetāturārogyai pratyanīkena hetunā | viriktavāntair hariṇaiṇalāvakāḥ śaśāś ca sevyāḥ samayūratittirāḥ | saṣaṣṭikāś cāpi purāṇaśālayas tathaiva mudgā laghu yac ca kīrttitam iti ||

[Adhyāya 40] athāto dhūmanastaḥ kavalacikitsitaṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ || pañcavidho dhūmo bhavati | tad yathā | prāyogikaḥ snaihiko vairecanikaḥ kāsaghno vāmanīya iti || tatrailādinā kuṣṭhatagaravarjyena ślakṣṇapiṣṭena dvādaśāṅgulaṃ śarakāṇḍaṃ daśāṅgulagarbham aṅgula m aṅguṣṭhodara pariṇāhaṃ kṣaumeṇāṣṭāṅgulam pariveṣṭyālepayed eṣā varttiḥ prāyogikaḥ || snehaphalasāramadhūcchiṣṭasarjarasagugguluprabhṛtibhiś ca snehamiśraiḥ snaihikaiḥ || śirovirecanadravyair vairecanikaiḥ || bṛhatīkaṇṭakārikātrikaṭukakāsamardahiṃgviṅgudītvaṅmanaḥśilācchinnaruhākarkaṭakasṛṅgīprabhṛtibhiḥ kāsaharaiḥ kāsaghnaiḥ | snāyucarmakhuraśṛṅgakarkaṭāsthiśuṣkamatsyavallūrakrimibhir vāmanīyaiś ca vāmanīya iti || tatra bastinetravyavyair dūmanetradravyāni vyākhyātāni bhavanti || dhūmanetraṃ tu kanīnikāpariṇāham agre kalāyamātrasroto mūle ṅguṣṭhapariṇāhaṃ dhūmavarttipraveśasroto ṅgulāni catuścatvāriṃśat prāyogike | dvātriṃśat snaihike | caturviṃśati vairecanike | ṣoḍaśakāsaghne | daśa vāmanīya iti || atha sukhopaviṣṭaḥ sumanā ṛjvadhodṛṣṭir atandritaḥ | snehapradīptāgrām varttinetrasrotasi praṇidhāya dhūmam pibed iti || mukhena tam pibet pūrvaṃ nāsikābhyān tataḥ pibet | mukhapītaṃ mukhenaiva vamet pītañ ca nas tataḥ | yo vamen nastato dhūman nastapītaṃ mukhena vā | sa netrakarṇṇanāsāsyasaṃśrayāl labhate gadān || viśeṣatas tu prāyogikaṃ ghrāṇenādadyāt | snaihikaṃ mukhanāsābhyāṃ | nāsikābhyāṃ vairecanikaṃ | mukhenaivetarāv iti || tatra śramabhayāmarṣoṣṇaviṣaraktapittamadamūrcchāpipāsātāluśoṣamūrdhābhighātodgāratimiramehodarādhmānordhvavātontravṛddhibālavṛddhadurbalaviraktāsthāpitajāgaritagarbhiṇīrūkṣakṣatakṣīṇoraskāḥ madhughṛtadadhidugdhamadyayavāgūpītāḥ svalpakaphāś ca dhūman na severann iti || akālapīto bhramarī śirorogaṃ karoti ca | nāsāsrotokṣijihvānāṃm upaghātañ ca dāruṇaṃ || dhūmaḥ snaihiko vairecanikaḥ prāyogiko dvādaśasu kāleṣūpayogo bhavati || tad yathā kṣutadantaprakṣālananasyasnānabhojanādivāsvapnamaithunacchardanamūtroccārābhir uṣitaśastrakarmānteṣv iti || tasya vibhāgo mūtroccārakṣavathuruṣitamaithunānteṣu snaihikaḥ | divāsvapnacchardanāntayor vairecanikaḥ | dantaprakṣālanasya snānabhojanaśastrakarmānteṣu prāyogika iti || tatra snaihiko vātaṃ śamayati | snehād upalepitvāc ca | vairecanikaḥ śleṣmāṇam utkliśyāpakarṣati raukṣyāt taikṣṇyād auṣṇyād vaiṣadyāc ca | prāyogikaḥ śleṣmāṇam utkleśayaty utkliṣṭaṃ cāpakarṣayati śamayati vā sādhāraṇatvāt pūrvābhyām iti || dhūmaprayogāt puruṣaḥ prasannendriyavāṅmanā | dṛḍhakeśadvijaḥ śmaśrusugandhiviśadānanaḥ | tathā kāsaśvāsārocakāsyapralepasvarabhedamukhāsrāvakṣavathuvamathukrāthatandrīhanumanyāstambhapīnasaśirorogalocanaśūlāvātakaphanimittāś cāsya mukharogā na bhavanti | tasya yogāyogātiyogā vijñātavyā bhavanti | yogas tu dṛṣṭaphalārthaḥ | ayogo rogānirjayaḥ | atiyogas tāluśoṣaparidāhapipāsābhramamadamūrcchākarṇṇakṣveladṛṣṭirogādaurbalyayutam iti || tatra prāyogikas trīṃs trīn ucchvāsān ādadyāt paryāgatāns trīns trīṃś caturo veti || snaihikaṃ yāvad asrupravṛttiḥ || vairecanikam ādoṣadarśanāt || grāsāntareṣu kāsaharaṃ || vairecanikavat tilataṇḍulayavāgūpīto vāmanīyaṃ yathāyoga iti || tatra vraṇabastinetreṇa vraṇadhūmanetraṃ vyākhyātam bhavati || śarāvasampuṭayutaṃ vraṇadhūman nayed vraṇaṃ | dhūmanetreṇa matimān vedanāsrāvaśāntaye || vidhir eṣa samāsena dhūmasyābhihito mayā || nasyasyātaḥ pravakṣyāmi vidhiṃ kuśalasammitaṃ | auṣadhapakvo vā sneho nāsikābhyāṃ pradīyate | nasyan tatpañcavikalpam bhavati | tad yathā | nasyaṃ śirovirecanaṃ pratimarśo vapīḍaḥ pradhamanam iti | teṣān nasyam pradhāṇaṃ śirovirecanaṃ yena nasya vikalpaḥ pratimarśaḥ | śirovirecanavikalpo vapīḍaḥ pradhamanañ ceti | tato nastaśabdaḥ pañcavidhā ṇipatati | tatra yaḥ snehārthaṃ śūnyaśirasāṃ grīvāskandhorasāṃ balajananārthaṃ dṛṣṭiprasādajananārtham vā sneha upādīyate tasmin vaiśeṣike nastaśabdaḥ | tat tu deyam vātābhipanne śirasi tathā dantakeśaśmasruṇātadāruṇakarṇṇakṣvelatimirasvaropaghātanāsārogamukharogaśoṣāvabāhukākālajavalīpalitaprabodheṣu vātapaittikeṣu ca mukharogeṣu vātapittaharadravyasiddhena sneheneti || śirovirecanam api śleṣmaṇābhivyāptatālugataśirasāṃ tathā rocakaśirogauravaśūlapīnasāvabhedakakrimipratiśyāyāpasmāraghrāṇājñāneṣv anyeṣu cordhvajatrugateṣu vikāreṣu śirovirecanadravyasiddhena sneheneti | tat tv etad dvividham apy uktaṃ || tatroccāritavātamūtrapurīṣāya bhuktavate vyabhre kāle pāṇitāpopasveditagalakapolalalāṭapradeśāya vātātaparajohīne veśmany uttānaśāyine kiñcit pravilambitaśirase vastrāvacchāditanetrāya vāmahastapradeśinyagronnāmitanāsāgrāya viśuddhasrotase dakṣiṇahastena śuktyā picunā vā sukhoṣṇam adrutam avicchinnadhārām āsiñced iti | yathā ca netreṇa prāpnoti || snehe vasicyati śiro na kathañ cana kampayet | na bhāṣen na ca kupyec ca na kṣuyān na hased api | etair hi vihataḥ sneho na samyak pratipadyate | tataḥ kāsaḥ pratiśyāyaḥ śirokṣigadasambhavaḥ | tasya pramāṇan tv aṣṭau bindavaḥ pradeśinīparvadvayaniḥsrutāḥ | eṣā mātrā prathamā | dvitīyā śuktiḥ tṛtīyā pāṇiśuktir ity etās tisro mānāḥ yathābalam prayojyā bhavantīti || śṛṅgāṭakam abhiplāvya nireti vadanād yathā | kaphotkleśabhayāccainan niṣṭhīved avidhārayan || dante punar api saṃsvedya galakapolādīn dhūmam āseveta | bhojayec cainam anabhiṣyanti | athāsyācārikam upadiśet | krodhādim pariharec ca | rajodhūmamanastāpadravapānaśirasnānādīni | tasya yogāyogātiyogavijñānaṃ bhavati | lāghavaṃ śiraso yoge sukhasvapnaprabodhaṇaṃ | vikāropaśamaḥ śuddhir indriyāṇām paraṃ sukhaṃ || ayoge rogānirjayaḥ kaphaprasekaḥ śiraso gurutendriyavibhramaḥ | k> atiyoge tāluśoṣapipāsābhramamadamūrcchā ceti lakṣaṇam mūrdhny atisnigdhe rūkṣaṃ tatrāvacārayet | śirovirecanasyāpi catvāro bindavaḥ ṣaḍ vā tathāṣṭau vā yathābalam śirovicakasnehasya pramāṇam abhinirdiśet | tasya trīṇy abhivarṇṇyante lakṣaṇāni prayogataḥ | śuddhihīnātisañjñāni viśeṣāc chāstracintakaiḥ | lāghavaṃ śirasaḥ śuddhiḥ srotasāṃ vyādhinirjayaḥ | cittendriyaprasādaś ca śirasaḥ śuddhilakṣaṇaṃ || kaṇḍūpade gurutā srotasāṃ kaphasambhavaḥ | hīnāviśuddhe śirasi lakṣaṇam parikīrttitam || mastuluṅgāgamo vā tad dṛṣṭir indriyavibhramaḥ | śūnyatā śirasaś cāpi mūrdhni gāḍhavirecite || hīnātiśuddhe śirasi kaphavātaghnam ācaret | samyag virecite cāpi sarpir naste nuṣecayet || nasye tu parirharttavyā bhavanti | tad yathā bhuktavān apatarpitotyarthaṃ taruṇapratiśyāyī garbhinī madyadravapīḍito jīrṇṇīvastidantaḥ kruddho rāgārttaḥ tṛṣṇābhibhūto bālo vṛddhaḥ śrānto vegāvarodharataḥ śirasnātukāmaś ceti || nasye śirovireke ca vyāpado dvividhāḥ smṛtāḥ | doṣotkleśakṣayāc caiva vijñeyā ca yathākramaṃ | tatrotkleśanimittāsu yuñjyāc chamanaśodhaṇe | atha kṣayanimittāsu yathāsvaṃ bṛṃhaṇaṃ hitaṃ || pratimarśes tu caturdaśasu kāleṣūpadeyo bhavati | tad yathā | kālyotthitena | prakṣālitadantena | gṛhān nirgacchatā | vyāyāmavyavāyapariśrātena | mūtroccārakavalāñjanān te bhuktavatā | charditavatā | divāsvapnotthitena sāyañ ceti || tatra kālyotthitenāsevitaḥ pratimarśo rātrāv upacitaṃ nāsāsrotogataṃ malam apahanti | prakṣālitadantena dantānāṃ dṛḍhatā vadanasaugandhyañ cāpādayati | gṛhān nirgacchatā nāsāsrotaso snehaklinnatayā | rajodhūmo vā na prabādhate | vyāyāmavyavāyapariśrāntena śramam apahanti | mūtroccārānte dṛṣṭigurutvam apanayati | kavalāñjanānte dṛṣṭiṃ prasādayati | bhuktavatā sroto viśuddhiṃ laghutvaṃ cāpādayati | charditavatā srotovilagnaṃ śleṣmāṇam apohya bhaktacchaṃdaṃ kurute | divāsvapnotthitena nidrāśeṣaṃ gauravañ cāpahatya cittaikāgryaṃ janayati | sāyaṃ sukhanidrāprabodham āpādayatīti || īṣad ucchiṃghaṇāt sneho yadā vaktum prapadyate | naste niśiktaṃ taṃ vidyāt pratimarśaṃ pramāṇataḥ || tena rogāḥ praśāmyanti narāṇām ūrdhvajatrujāḥ | indriyāṇāñ ca vaimalyaṃ kuryād āsyasugandhi ca || hanudantaśirogrīvātrikabāhūrasāṃ balaṃ | valīpalitakhālityavyaṃgānāñ cāpy asambhavaḥ || tailaṃ kaphe ca vāte ca kevalaṃ pavane vasāṃ | dadyān nastaḥ sadā pitte sarpirmajjāsamārute || caturvidhasya snehasya vidhir eṣa prakīrttitaḥ | śleṣmasthānāvirodhitvāt teṣu tailaṃ viśiṣyate || avapīḍan tu śirovirecanavad abhiṣyaṇṇasarpadaṣṭamūrcchitavisaṃjñebhyo dadyāc chirovirecanadravyāṇām anyatamam āsādyāvapīḍam iṣyateti || cetovikārakrimiviṣād iti || śarkarekṣurasakṣīrā ghṛtamāṃsarasāṃ pṛthak kṣīṇānāṃ nastato dadyādd raktapittagadeṣu ca || ataḥ param pravakṣyāmi kavaḍagrahaṇe vidhiṃ | caturdhā kavaḍasnehī prasādī śodhiropaṇau | sngidhoṣṇaiḥ snaihiko vāte svāduśītaiḥ prasādanaḥ pitte kaṭvamblalavaṇai rūkṣaiḥ saṃśodhaṇaḥ kaphe | kaṣāyatiktamadhuraiḥ kaṭūṣṇo ropaṇo vraṇe | tatra trikaṭukāśitasarṣapasiddhārthakakalkam āloḍya tailamūtrakṣārasurāśuktamadhūnām anyatamena salavaṇam abhiprataptam upasvinnamṛditagalakapolalalāṭapradeśe dhārayet || sukhaṃ sañcāryate yā tu mātrā sā kavalaḥ smṛtāḥ | asañcāryā tu yā mātrā gaṇḍūṣaḥ sā prakīrttitāḥ || tāvac ca dhārayitavyo nanyamanasānunnatadehena yāvad doṣapratipūrṇṇagalakapolatvaṃ nāsāsrotonayanapariplavaś ca bhavati tadā vimoktavyaḥ | punaś cānyo grahītavyaḥ || evaṃ snehapayaḥkṣaudrarasamūtrāmblasambhṛtāḥ | kasāyoṣṇodakābhyāñ ca kavaḍā doṣato hitāḥ || vyādher apacayas tuṣṭir viṣadaṃ vaktralāghavaṃ | indriyāṇām prasādaś ca kavaḍe śuddhilakṣaṇaṃ | hīne jāḍyakaphotkleśā varasajñānam eva ca | atiyogāt mukhe pākaḥ śoṣas tṛṣṇāruciklamaḥ | śodhanīye viśeṣeṇa bhavaty etat tu lakṣaṇaṃ || tilāṃ nīlotpalaṃ sarpiḥ śarkarā kṣīram eva ca | sakṣaudro dagdhavarktrasya gaṇḍūṣo dāhanāśanaḥ | kavalasya samāsena vidhir eṣaḥ prakīrttitaḥ | vibhajya bheṣajaṃ budhyā kurvīta pratisāraṇaṃ || kalko rasakriyā kṣaudraṃ cūrṇṇañ ceti caturvidhaṃ || aṅgulyagrapraṇītan tu yathāsvam mukharogiṇāṃ || tasya yogam ayogañ ca kavaloktaṃ vibhāvayet | bhojayet cānabhiṣyandi doṣaghnam aśanaṃ naram iti || || ci 40 || 0 || sneha svedo
