dvitīyo 'dhyāyaḥ | athātaḥ śukraśoṇitaśuddhiṃ śārīraṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ || yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ || vāta pitta śleṣma śoṇita kuṇapa granthi pūti pūya kṣīṇa mūtra purīṣa retasaḥ prajotpādane na samarthā bhavanti || teṣu vātavarṇavedanaṃ vātena, pittavarṇavedanaṃ pittena, śleṣmavarṇavedanaṃ śleṣmaṇā, śoṇitavarṇavedanaṃ kuṇapagandhyanalpaṃ ca raktena, granthibhūtaṃ śleṣmavātābhyāṃ, pūtipūyanibhaṃ pittaśleṣmabhyāṃ, kṣīṇaṃ prāg uktaṃ pittamārutābhyāṃ, mūtrapurīṣagandhi sannipāteneti | teṣu kuṇapa granthi pūti pūya kṣīṇa retasaḥ kṛcchrasādhyāh, mūtrapurīṣaretasas tv asādhyāḥ iti || ārtavam api tribhir doṣaiḥ śoṇitacaturthaih pṛthagdvandvaiḥ samastaiś copasṛṣṭam abījaṃ bhavati; tad api doṣavarṇavedanādibhir vijñeyam | teṣu kuṇapagranthi pūtipūya kṣīṇamūtrapurīṣa prakāśam asādhyaṃ sādhyam anyac ceti || bhavanti cātra | teṣv ādyān śukradoṣāṃs trīn snehasvedādibhir jayet || kriyāviśeṣair matimāṃs tathā cottarabastibhiḥ || pāyayeta naraṃ sarpir bhiṣak kuṇapa retasi || dhātakīpuṣpakhadira dāḍimārjuna sādhitam || pāyayed athavā sarpiḥ śālasārādisādhitam || granthibhūte śaṭīsaiddhaṃ pālāśe vā'pi bhasmani || parūṣakavaṭādibhyāṃ pūyaprakhye ca sādhitam || prāguktaṃ vakṣyate yac ca tat kāryaṃ kṣīṇaretasi || viṭprabhe pāyayet siddhaṃ citrakośīrahiṅgubhiḥ || snigdhaṃ vāntaṃ viriktaṃ ca nirūḍham anuvāsitam || yojayec chukradoṣārtaṃ samyag uttarabastinā || sphaṭikābhaṃ dravaṃ snigdhaṃ madhuraṃ madhugandhi ca || śukram icchanti kecit tu tailakṣaudranibhaṃ tathā || vidhim uttarabastyantaṃ kuryād ārtavaśuddhaye || strīṇāṃ snehādiyuktānāṃ catasṛṣv ārtavārtiṣu || kuryāt kalkān picūṃś cāpi pathyāny ācamanāni ca || granthibhūte pibet pāṭhāṃ tryūṣaṇaṃ vṛkṣakāṇi ca || durgandhipūyasaṅkāśe majjatulye tathā 'rtave || pibed bhadraśriyaḥ kvāthaṃ candanakvātham eva ca || śukradoṣaharāṇāṃ ca yathāsvam avacāraṇam || yogānāṃ śuddhikaraṇaṃ śeṣāsv apy ārtavārtiṣu || anne(nnaṃ) śāliyavaṃ madyaṃ hitaṃ māṃsaṃ ca pittalam || śaśāsṛkpratimaṃ yat tu yad vā lākṣārasopamam || tad ārtavaṃ praśaṃsanti yad vāso na virañjayet || tad evātiprasaṅgena pranṛttamanṛtāv api || asṛgdaraṃ vijānīyād ayo 'nyad raktalakṣaṇāt || asṛgdaro bhavet sarvaḥ sāṅgamardaḥ savedanaḥ || tasyātivṛttau daurbalyaṃ bhramo mūrcchā tamas tṛṣā || dāhaḥ pralāpaḥ pāṇḍutvaṃ tandrā rogāś ca vātajāḥ || taruṇyā hitasevinyās tam alpopadravaṃ bhiṣak || raktapittavidhānena yathāvat samupācaret || doṣair āvṛtamārgatvād ārtavaṃ naśyati striyāḥ || tatra matsya kulatthāmla tilamāṣasurā hitāḥ || pāne mūtram udaśvic ca dadhiśuktaṃ ca bhojane || kṣīṇaṃ prāgīritaṃ raktaṃ salakṣaṇacikitsitam || tathā'py atra vidhātavyaṃ vidhānaṃ naṣṭaraktavat || evam aduṣṭaśukraḥ śuddhārtavā ca || ṛtau prathama divasāt prabhṛti brahmacāriṇī divāsvapnāñjanāśru pāta snānānulepanābhyaṅga nakha cchedana pradhāvana hasana kathanātiśabda śravaṇāvalekhanānilāyāsān pariharet | kiṃ kāraṇaṃ? divā svapantyāḥ svāpaśīlaḥ, añjanād andhaḥ, rodanād vikṛtadṛṣṭiḥ, snānānulepanā duḥkhaśīlaḥ, tailābhyaṅgāt kuṣṭhī, nakhāpakartanāt kunakhī pradhāvanāc cañcalaḥ, hasanāc chyāvadantauṣṭhatālujihvāḥ, pralāpī cātikathanāt, atiśabdaśravaṇād badhiraḥ, avalekhanāt khalatiḥ, mārutāyāsasevanād unmatto garbho bhavatīty evam etān pariharet | darbha saṃstara śāyinīṃ karatala śarāva parṇānyatama bhojinīṃ haniṣyaṃ, tryahaṃ ca bhartuḥ saṃrakṣet | tataḥ śuddhasnātāṃ caturthe 'hany ahata vāsāṃ samalaṅkṛtāṃ kṛtamaṅgalasvasti vācanāṃ bhartāraṃ darśayet | tat kasya hetoḥ? || pūrvaṃ paśyed ṛtusnātā yādṛśaṃ naram aṅganā || tādṛśaṃ janayet putraṃ bhartāraṃ darśayed ataḥ || tato vidhānaṃ purtīyam upādhyāyaḥ samācaret || karmānte ca kramaṃ hy enam ārabheta vicakṣaṇaḥ || tato 'parāhṇe pumān māsaṃ brahmacārī sarpiḥsnigdhaḥ sarpiḥkṣīrābhyāṃ śālyodanaṃ bhuktvā māsaṃ brahmacāriṇīṃ tailasnigdhāṃ tailamāṣottarāhārāṃ nārīm upeyād rātrau sāmādibhir abhiviśvāsya; vikalpyaivaṃ caturthyāṃ ṣaṣṭhyām aṣṭamyāṃ daśamyāṃ dvādaśyāṃ copeyād iti putrakāmaḥ || eṣūttarottaraṃ vidyād āyur ārogyam eva ca || prajāsaubhāgyam aiśvaryaṃ balaṃ ca divaseṣu vai || ataḥ paraṃ pañcamyāṃ saptamyāṃ navamyām ekādaśyāṃ ca strīkāmaḥ; trayodaśīprabhṛtayo nindyāḥ || tatra prathame divase ṛtumatyāṃ maithunagama(nama?)nāyuṣyaṃ puṃsāṃ bhavati, yaś ca tatrādhīyate garbhaḥ sa prasavamāno vimucyate; dvitīye 'py evaṃ sūtikāgṛhe vā; tṛtīye 'py evam asaṃpūrṇāṅgo 'lpāyur vā bhavati; caturthe tu saṃpūrṇāṅgo dīrghāyuś ca bhavati | na ca pravartamāne rakte bījaṃ praviṣṭaṃ guṇakaraṃ bhavati, yathā nadyāṃ pratisrotaḥ plāvidravyaṃ prakṣiptaṃ pratinivartate nordhnaṃ gacchati tadvad eva draṣṭavyam | tasmān niyamavatīṃ trirātraṃ pariharet | ataḥ paraṃ māsād upeyāt || labdha garbhā yāś caiteṣv ahaḥsu lakṣmaṇā vaṭa śuṅgā sahadevā viśva devānām anyatamaṃ kṣīreṇābhiṣutya trīṃś caturo vā bindūn dadyād dakṣiṇe nāsāpuṭe putrakāmāyai na ca tān niṣṭhīvet || dhruvaṃ caturṇāṃ sānnidhyād garbhaḥ syād vidhipūrvakaḥ || ṛtukṣetrāmbubījānāṃ sāmagryād aṅkuro yathā || evaṃ jātā rūpavantaḥ sattvavantaś cirāyuṣaḥ || bhavanty ṛṇasya moktāraḥ satputrāḥ putriṇe(ṇo) hitāḥ || tatra tejodhātuḥ sarvavarṇānāṃ prabhavaḥ, sa yadā garbhotpattāv abdhātuprāyo bhavati tadā garbhaṃ gauraṃ karoti, pṛthivīdhātuprāyaḥ kṛṣṇaṃ, pṛthivyākāśadhātuprāyaḥ kṛṣṇaśyāmaṃ, toyākāśadhātuprāyo gauraśyāmam | yādṛgvarṇam āhāram upasevate garbhiṇī tādṛgvarṇaprasavā bhavatīty eke bhāṣante | tatra dṛṣṭibhāgam apratipannaṃ tejo jātyandhaṃ karoti, tad eva raktānugataṃ raktākṣaṃ, pittānugataṃ piṅgākṣaṃ, śleṣmānugataṃ śuklākṣaṃ, vātānugataṃ vikṛtākṣam iti || bhavanti cātra | ghṛtapiṇḍo yathaivāgnim āśritaḥ pranilīyate || visarpaty ārtavaṃ nāryās tathā puṃsāṃ samāgame || bīje 'ntarvāyunā bhinne dvau jīvau kukṣim āgatau || yamāv ity abhidhīyete dharmetarapuraḥsarau || pitror atyalpabījatvād āsekyaḥ puruṣo bhavet || sa śukraṃ prāśya labhate dhvajocchrāyam asaṃśayam || yaḥ pūtiyonau jāyeta sa saugandhikasaṃjñitaḥ || sa yoniśephasor gandham āghrāya labhate balam || sve gude 'brahmacaryād yaḥ strīṣu puṃvat pravartate || kumbhīkaḥ sa ca vijñeya, īrṣyakaṃ śṛṇu cāparam || dṛṣṭvā vyavāyam anyeṣāṃ vyavāye yaḥ pravartate || īrṣyakaḥ sa ca vijñeyaḥ, ṣaṇḍakaṃ śṛṇu pañcamam || yo bhāryāyām ṛtau mohād aṅganeva pravartate || tataḥ strīceṣṭitākāro jāyate ṣaṇḍasaṃjñitaḥ || ṛtau puruṣavad vāpi pravartetāṅganā yadi || tatra kanyā yadi bhavet sā bhaven naraceṣṭitā || āsekyaś ca sugandhī ca kumbhīkaś cerṣyakas tathā || saretasas tv amī jñeyā aśukraḥ ṣaṇḍa(ṇḍha)saṃjñitaḥ || anayā viprakṛtyā tu teṣāṃ śukravahāḥ sirāḥ || harṣāt sphuṭatvam āyānti dhvajocchrāyas tato bhavet || āhārācāraceṣṭābhir yādṛśībhiḥ samanvitau || strīpuṃsau samupeyātāṃ tayoḥ putro 'pi tādṛśaḥ || yadā nāryāv upeyātāṃ vṛṣasyantyau kathaṃcana || muñcantyau śukram anyonyam anasthis tatra jāyate || ṛtusnātā tu yā nārī svapne maithunam āvahet || ārtavaṃ vāyur ādāya kukṣau garbhaṃ karoti hi || māsi māsi vivardheta garbhiṇyā garbhalakṣaṇam || kalalaṃ jāyate tasyā varjitaṃ paitṛkair guṇaiḥ || sarpa vṛścika kūṣmāṇḍa vikṛtākṛtayaś ca ye || garbhās tv ete striyāś caiva jñeyāḥ pāpakṛtā bhṛśam || garbho vātaprakopeṇa dauhṛde vāvamānite || bhavet kubjaḥ kuṇiḥ paṅgur mūko minmina eva vā || mātāpitros tu nāstikyād aśubhaiś ca purākṛtaiḥ || vātādīnāṃ ca kopena garbho vikṛtim āpnuyāt || malālpatvād ayogāc ca vāyoḥ pakvāśayasya ca || vātamūtrapurīṣāṇi na garbhasthaḥ karoti hi || jarāyuṇā mukhe cchanne kaṇṭhe ca kaphaveṣṭite || vāyor mārganirodhāc ca na garbhasthaḥ praroditi || niḥśvāsocchvāsa saṅkṣobha svapnān garbho 'dhigacchati || mātur niśvasitocchvāsasaṅkṣobhasvapnasaṃbhavān || sanniveśaḥ śarīrāṇāṃ dantānāṃ patanodbhavau || taleṣv asaṃbhavo yaś ca romṇām etat svabhāvataḥ || bhāvitāḥ pūrvadeheṣu satataṃ śāstrabuddhayaḥ || bhavanti sattva bhūyiṣṭhāḥ pūrvajātismarā narāḥ || karmaṇā codito yena tad āpnoti punarbhave || abhyastāḥ pūrvadehe ye tān eva bhajate guṇān ||

tṛtīyo 'dhyāyaḥ | athāto garbhāvakrānti śārīraṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ || yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ || saumyaṃ śukram ārtavam āgneyam itareṣām apy atra bhūtānāṃ sānnidhyamastyaṇunā viśeṣeṇa, parasparopakārāt parasparānugrahāt parasparānupraveśāc ca || tatra strīpuṃsayoḥ saṃyoge tejaḥ śarīrādvāyurudīrayati, tatastejonilasannipātacchukraṃ cyutaṃ yonimabhipratipadyate saṃsṛjyate cārtavena, tato 'gnīṣomasaṃyogāt (garbho?) saṃsṛjyamāno (garbho?) garbhāśayamanupratipadyate kṣetrajño vedayitā spraṣṭā ghrātā draṣṭā śrotā rasayitā puruṣaḥ sraṣṭā gantā sākṣī dhātā vaktā yaḥ ko 'sāvityevam ādibhiḥ paryāyavācakairnāmabhir abhidhīyate dainasaṃ(yo?)gādakṣayo 'cintyo bhūtātmanā sahānvakṣaṃ sattvarajastamobhir daivāsurair aparaiś ca bhāvair vāyunā'bhipreryamāṇaḥ, garbhāśayamanupraniśyāvatiṣṭhate || tatra śukrabāhulyāt pumān, ārtavabāhulyāt strī, sāmyādubhayor napuṃsakam iti || ṛtus tu dvādaśarātraṃ bhavati dṛṣṭārtavaḥ; adṛṣṭārtavā'py astīty eke bhāṣante || bhavanti cātra | pīnaprasannavadanāṃ praklinnātmamukhadvijām || narakāmāṃ priyakathāṃ srastakukṣyakṣimūrdhajām || sphuradbhujakucaśroṇinābhyūrujaghanasphicam || harśautsukyaparāṃ cāpi vidyādṛtumatīm iti || niyataṃ divase 'tīte saṅkucatyambujaṃ yathā || ṛtau vyatīte nāryās tu yoniḥ saṃvriyate tathā || māsenopacitaṃ kāle dhamanībhyāṃ tadārtavam || īṣatkṛṣṇaṃ vigandhaṃ ca vāyuryonimukhaṃ nayet || tadvarṣāddvādaśāt kāle vartamānamasṛk punaḥ || jarāpakvaśarīrāṇāṃ yāti pañcāśataḥ kṣayam || yugmeṣu tu pumān prokto divaseṣv anyathā'balā || puṣpakāle śucistasmād apatyārthī striyaṃ vrajet || tatra sadyogṛhītagarbhāyā liṅgāni---śramo glāniḥ pipāsā sakthisadanaṃ śukraśoṇitayor avabandhaḥ sphuraṇaṃ ca yoneḥ || stanayoḥ kṛṣṇamukhatā romarājyudgamas tathā || akṣipakṣmāṇi cāpyasyāḥ saṃmīlyante viśeṣataḥ || akāmataśchardayati gandhādudvijate śubhāt || prasekaḥ sadanaṃ cāpi garbhiṇyā liṅgam ucyate || tadā prabhṛti vyavāyaṃ vyāyāmamatitarpaṇamatikarśanaṃ divāsvapnaṃ rātrijāgaraṇaṃ śokaṃ yānārohaṇaṃ bhayamutkaṭukāsanaṃ caikāntataḥ snehādikriyāṃ śoṇitamokṣaṇaṃ cākāle vegavidhāraṇaṃ ca na seveta || doṣābhighātairgarbhiṇyā yo yo bhāgaḥ prapīḍyate || sa sa bhāgaḥ śiśostasya garbhasthasya prapīḍyate || tatra prathame māsi kalalaṃ jāyate; dvitīye śītoṣmānilairabhiprapacyamānānāṃ mahābhūtānāṃ saṃghāto ghanaḥ saṃjāyate yadi piṇḍaḥ pumān, strī cet peśī, napuṃsakaṃ cedarbudamiti; tṛtīye hastapādaśirasāṃ pañca piṇḍakā nirvartante 'ṅgapratyaṅgavibhāgaś ca sūkṣmo bhavati; caturthe sarvāṅgapratyaṅgavibhāgaḥ pravyakto bhavati, garbhahṛdayapravyaktibhāvāc cetanādhātur abhivyakto bhavati, kasmāt? tatsthānatvāt ; tasmād garbhaś caturthe māsy abhiprāyam indriyārtheṣu karoti, dvihṛdayāṃ ca nārīṃ dauhṛdinīm ācakṣate, dauhṛdavimānanāt kubjaṃ kuṇiṃ khañjaṃ jaḍaṃ vāmanaṃ vikṛtākṣamanakṣaṃ vā nārī sutaṃ janayati, tasmāt sā yad yad icchet tat tat tasyai dāpayet, labdhadauhṛdā hi vīryavantaṃ cirāyuṣaṃ ca putraṃ janayati || bhavati cātra | indriyārthāṃs tu yān yān sā bhoktumicchati garbhiṇī garbhābādhabhayāt tāṃs tān bhiṣag āhṛtya dāpayet || sā prāptadauhṛdā putraṃ janayeta guṇānvitam || alabdhadauhṛdā garbhe labhetātmani vā bhayam || yeṣu yeṣv indriyārtheṣu dauhṛde vai vimānanā || prajāyeta sutasyārtistasmiṃstasmiṃstathendriye || rājasandarśane yasyā daurhṛdaṃ jāyate striyāḥ || arthavantaṃ mahābhāgaṃ kumāraṃ sā prasūyate || dukūlapaṭṭakauśeyabhūṣaṇādiṣu dauhṛdāt || alaṅkāraiṣiṇaṃ putraṃ lalitaṃ sā prasūyate || āśrame saṃyatātmānaṃ dharmaśīlaṃ prasūyate || devatāpratimāyāṃ tu prasūte pārṣadopamam || darśane vyālajātīnāṃ hiṃsāśīlaṃ prasūyate || godhāmāṃsāśane putraṃ suṣupsuṃ dhāraṇātmakam | gavāṃ māṃse tu balinaṃ sarvakleśasahaṃ tathā || māhiṣe daurhṛdācchūraṃ raktākṣaṃ lomasaṃyutam || varāhamāṃsāt svapnāluṃ śūraṃ saṃjanayet sutam || mārgādvikrāntajaṅghālaṃ sadā vanacaraṃ sutam || sṛmarādvignimanasaṃ nityabhītaṃ ca taittirāt || ato 'nukteṣu yā nārī samabhidhyāti daurhṛdam || śarīrācāraśīlaiḥ sā samānaṃ janayiṣyati || karmaṇā coditaṃ jantor bhavitavyaṃ punar bhavet || yathā tathā daivayogād daurhṛdaṃ janayed dhṛdi || pañcame manaḥpratibuddhataraṃ bhavati, ṣaṣṭhe buddhiḥ, saptame sarvāṅgapratyaṅgavibhāgaḥ pravyaktataraḥ, aṣṭame+asthirībhavaty ojaḥ, tatra jātaś cen na jīven nirojastvān- nairṛtabhāgatvāc ca , tato baliṃ māṃsaudanamasmai dāpayet? navamadaśamaikādaśadvādaśānām anyatamasmin jāyate, ato 'nyathā vikārī bhavati || mātus tu khalu rasavahāyāṃ nāḍyāṃ garbhanābhināḍī pratibaddhā, sā'sya mātur āhārarasavīryam abhivahati | tenopasnehenāsyābhivṛddhir bhavati | asaṃjātāṅgapratyaṅgapravibhāgamāniṣekāt prabhṛti sarvaśarīrāvayavānusāriṇīnāṃ rasavahānāṃ tiryaggatānāṃ dhamanīnām upasneho jīvayati || garbhasya khalu saṃbhavataḥ pūrvaṃ śiraḥ saṃbhavatītyāha śaunakaḥ, śiromūlatvāt -pradhānendriyāṇāṃ; hṛdayam iti kṛtavīryo, buddhermanasaś ca sthānatvāt ; nābhir iti pārāśaryaḥ, tato hi vardhate deho dehinaḥ; pāṇipādam iti mārkaṇḍeyaḥ, tanmūlatvācceṣṭāyā garbhasya; madhyaśarīram iti subhūtirgautamaḥ, tannibaddhatvāt sarvagātrasaṃbhavasya | tat tu na samyak, sarvāṇy aṅgapratyaṅgāni yugapat saṃbhavantīty āha dhanvantariḥ, garbhasya sūkṣmatvānnopalabhyante vaṃśāṅkuravac cūtaphalavac ca; tadyathā---cūtaphale paripakve keśaramāṃsāsthimajjānaḥ pṛthak pṛthag dṛśyante, kālaprakarṣāt; tāny eva taruṇe nopalabhyante, sūkṣmatvāt ; teṣāṃ sūkṣmāṇāṃ keśarādīnāṃ kālaḥ pravyaktatāṃ karoti; etenaiva vaṃśāṅkuro 'pi vyākhyātaḥ | evaṃ garbhasya tāruṇye sarveṣv aṅgapratyaṅgeṣu satsv api saukṣmyādanupalabdhiḥ, tānyeva kālaprakarṣāt pravyaktāni bhavanti || tatra garbhasya pitṛjamātṛjarasajātmajasattvajasātmyajāni śarīralakṣaṇāni vyākhyāsyāmaḥ | garbhasya, keśaśmaśrulomāsthinakhadantasirāsnāyudhamanīretaḥprabhṛtīni sthirāṇi pitṛjāni, māṃsaśoṇitamedomajjahṛnnābhiyakṛtplīhāntragudaprabhṛtīni mṛdūni mātṛjāni, śarīropacayo balaṃ varṇaḥ sthitir hāniś ca rasajāni, indriyāṇi jñānaṃ vijñānamāyuḥ sukhaduḥkhādikaṃ cātmajāni, sattvajānyuttaratra vakṣyāmaḥ, vīryamārogyaṃ balavarṇau medhā ca sātmyajāni || tatra yasyā dakṣiṇe stane prāk payodarśanaṃ bhavati dakṣiṇākṣimahattvaṃ ca pūrvaṃ ca dakṣiṇaṃ sakthyutkarṣati vāhulyāc ca punnāmadheyeṣu dravyeṣu daurhṛdamabhidhyāyati svapneṣu copalabhate padmotpalakumudāmrātakādīni punnāmanyeva prasannamukhavarṇā ca bhavati tāṃ brūyāt putramiyaṃ janayiṣyatīti, tadviparyaye kanyāṃ, yasyāḥ pārśvadvayamunnataṃ purastānnirgatamudaraṃ prāgabhihitalakṣaṇaṃ ca tasyā napuṃsakam iti vidyāt, yasyā madhye nimnaṃ droṇībhūtamudaraṃ sā yugmaṃ prasūyata iti || bhavanti cātra devatābrāhmaṇaparāḥ śaucācārahite ratāḥ || mahāguṇān prasūyante viparītās tu nirguṇān || aṅgapratyaṅganirvṛttiḥ svabhāvād eva jāyate || aṅgapratyaṅganirvṛttau ye bhavanti guṇāguṇāḥ || te te garbhasya vijñeyā dharmādharmanimittajāḥ ||

carmadalājagallīmaśakādhiṣṭhānā; carurthī tāmrā nāma vrīheraṣṭabhāgapramāṇā, vividhakilāsakuṣṭhādhiṣṭhānā; pañcamī vedinī nāma, vrīhipañcabhāgapramāṇā, kuṣṭhavisarpādhiṣṭhānā; ṣaṣṭhī rohiṇī nāma, vrīhipramāṇā, granthyapacyarbudaślīpadagalagaṇḍādhiṣṭhānā; saptamī māṃsadharā nāma, vrīhidvayapramāṇā, bhagandaravidradhyarśo 'dhiṣṭhānā | yadetat pramāṇaṃ nirdiṣṭaṃ tanmāṃsaleṣv avakāśeṣu, na lalāṭe sūkṣmāṅgulyādiṣu; yato vakṣyatyudareṣu---vrīhimukhenāṅguṣṭhodarapramāṇamavagāḍhaṃ vidhyediti || kalāḥ khalvapi sapta saṃbhavanti dhātvāśayāntaramaryādāḥ || bhavataś cātra | yathā hi sāraḥ kāṣṭheṣu chidyamāneṣu dṛśyate || tathā dhāturhi māṃseṣu chidyamāneṣu dṛśyate || snāyubhiś ca praticchannān santatāṃś ca jarāyuṇā || śleṣmaṇā veṣṭitāṃś cāpi kalābhāgāṃs tu tān viduḥ || tāsaṃ prathamā māṃsadhārā māṃsasyābhyantarataḥ, tasyāṃ śoṇitaṃ viśeṣataś ca sirāsu yakṛtplīhnoś ca bhavati || bhavati cātra | vṛkṣādyathābhiprahatāt kṣīriṇaḥ kṣīramāvahet || māṃsādevaṃ kṣatāt kṣipraṃ śoṇitaṃ saṃprasicyate || tṛtīyā medodharā nāma; medo hi sarvabhūtānāmudarasthamaṇvasthiṣu ca, mahatsu ca majjā bhavati || bhavati cātra | sthūlāsthiṣu viśeṣeṇa majjā tvabhyantarāśritaḥ || athetareṣu sarveṣu saraktaṃ meda ucyate || śuddhamāṃsasya yaḥ snehaḥ sā vasā parikīrtitā || caturthī śleṣmadharā nāma; sarvasandhiṣu prāṇabhṛtāṃ bhavati || bhavati cātra | snehābhyakte yathā hy akṣe cakraṃ sādhu pravartate || sandhayaḥ sādhu vartante saṃśliṣṭāḥ śleṣmaṇā tathā || pañcamī purīṣadharā nāma; yā'vtaḥkoṣṭhe malamabhivibhajate pakvāśayasthā || bhavati cātra | yakṛtsamantāt koṣṭhaṃ ca tathā'ntrāṇi samāśritā || uṇḍukasthaṃ vibhajate malaṃ maladharā kalā || ṣaṣṭhī pittadharā nāma; yā caturvidhamannapānam upabhu(yu)ktamāmāśayāt pracyutaṃ pakvāśayopasthitaṃ dhārayati || bhavati cātra | aśitaṃ khāditaṃ pītaṃ koṣṭhagataṃ nṛṇām || tajjīryati yathākālaṃ śoṣitaṃ pittatejasā || saptamī śukradharā nāma; yā sarvaprāṇināṃ sarvaśarīravyāpinī || bhavanti cātra | yathā payasi sarpis tu gūḍhaścekṣau raso yathā || śarīreṣu tathā śukraṃ nṛṇāṃ vidyādbhiṣagvaraḥ || dvyaṅgule dakṣiṇe pārśve bastidvārasya cāpyadhaḥ || mūtrasrotaḥpathāccgukraṃ puruṣasya pravartate || kṛtsnadehāśritaṃ śukraṃ prasannamanasas tathā || strīṣu vyāyacchataś cāpi harśāttat saṃpravartate || gṛhītagarbhāṇāmārtavavahānāṃ srotasāṃ vartmānyavarudhyanta garbheṇa, tasmād gṛhītagarbhāṇāmārtavaṃ na dṛśyate; tatastadadhaḥ pratihatamūrdhvamāgatamaparaṃ copacīyamānamaparāîtyabhidhīyate; śeṣaṃ cordhvataramāgataṃ payodharāvabhipratipadyate, tasmād garbhiṇyaḥ pīnonnatapayodharā bhavanti || garbhasya yakṛtplīhānau śoṇitajau, śoṇitaphenaprabhabhavaḥ phupphusaḥ, śoṇitāṃkaṭṭaprabhabhva uṇḍukaḥ || asṛjaḥ śleṣmaṇaś cāpi yaḥ prasādaḥ paro mataḥ || taṃ pacyamānaṃ pittena vāyuś cāpyanudhāvati || tato 'syāntrāṇi jāyante gudaṃ bastiś ca dehinaḥ || udare pacyamānānāmādhmānādrukmasāravat || kaphaśoṇitamāṃsānāṃ sāro jihvā prajāyate || yathārthamūṣmaṇā yukto vāyuḥ srotāṃsi dārayet || anupraviśya piśitaṃ peśīrvibhajate tathā || medasaḥ snehamādāya sirāsnāyutvamāpnuyāt || sirāṇāṃ tu mṛduḥ pākaḥ snāyūnāṃ ca tataḥ kharaḥ || āśayyābhyāsayogena karotyāśayasaṃbhavam || raktamedaḥprasādādvṛkkau; māṃsāsṛkkalhamedaḥprasādādvṛṣaṇau; śoṇitakaphaprasādajaṃ hṛdayaṃ, yadāśrayā hi dhamanyaḥ prāṇavahāḥ; tasyādho vāmataḥ plīhā phupphusaśca, dakṣiṇato yakṛt kloma ca; taddhṛdayaṃ viśeṣeṇa cetanāsthānam, atastasmiṃstamasā 'vṛte sarvaprāṇinaḥ svapanti || bhavati cātra | puṇḍarīkeṇa sadṛśaṃ hṛdayaṃ syādadhomukham || jāgratastadvikasati svapataś ca nimīlati || nidrāṃ tu vaiṣṇavīṃ pāpmānam upadiśanti, sā svabhāvata eva sarvaprāṇino 'bhis pṛśati | tatra yadā saṃjñāvahāni srotāṃsi tamobhūyiṣṭhaḥ śleṣmā pratipadyate tadā tāmasī nāma nidrā bhavatyanavabodhinī, sā pralayakāle; tamobhūyiṣṭhānāmahaḥsu niśāsu ca bhavati, rajobhūyiṣṭhānāmanimittaṃ, sattvabhūyiṣṭhānāmardharātre; kṣīṇaśleṣmanilabahulānāṃ manaḥśarīrābhitāpavatāṃ ca naiva, sā vaikārikī bhavati || bhavanti cātra | hṛdayaṃ cetanāsthānamuktaṃ suśruta! dehinām || tamobhibhūte tasmiṃs tu nidrā viśati dehinam || nidrāhetustamaḥ, sattvaṃ bodhane heturucyate || svabhāva eva vā heturgarīyān parikīrtyate || pūrvadehānubhūtāṃs tu bhūtātmā svapataḥ prabhuḥ || rajoyuktena manasā gṛhṇātyarthān śubhāśubhān || karaṇānāṃ tu vaikalye tamasā'bhipravardhite || asvapannapi bhūtātmā prasupta iva cocyate || sarvartuṣu divāsvāpaḥ pratiṣiddho 'nyatra grīṣmāt, pratiṣiddheṣv api tu bālavṛddhastrīkarśitakṣatakṣīṇamadyanityayānavāhanādhvakarmapariśrāntānāmabhuktavatāṃ medaḥsvedakapharasaraktakṣīṇānāmajīrṇināṃ ca muhūrtaṃ divāsvapanamapratiṣiddham | rātrāvapi jāgaritavatāṃ jāgaritakālādardhamiṣyate divāsvapanam | vikṛtirhi divāsvapno nāma; tatra svapatāmadharmaḥ sarvadoṣaprakopaśca, tatprakopācca kāsaśvāsapratiśyāyaśiro-gauravāṅgamardārocakajvarāgnidaurbalyāni bhavanti; rātrāvapi jāgaritavatāṃ vātapittanimittāsta evopadravā bhavanti || bhavanti cātra | tasmānna jāgṛyādrātrau divāsvapnaṃ ca varjayet || jñātvā doṣakarāvetau budhaḥ svapnaṃ mitaṃ caret || arogaḥ sumanā hyevaṃ balavarṇānvito vṛṣaḥ || nātisthūlakṛśaḥ śrīmān naro jīvet samāḥ śatam || nidrā sātmyīkṛtā yais tu rātrau ca yadi vā divā || (divārātrau ca ye nityaṃ svapnajāgaraṇocitāḥ |) na teṣāṃ svapatāṃ doṣo jāgratāṃ vā'pi jāyate || nidrānāśo 'nilāt pittānmanastāpāt kṣayādapi || saṃbhavatyabhighātāc ca pratyanīkaiḥ praśāmyati || nidrānāśe 'bhyaṅgayogo mūrdhni tailaniṣevaṇam || gātrasyodvartanaṃ caiva hitaṃ saṃvāhanāni ca || śāligodhūmapiṣṭānnabhakṣyairaikṣavasaṃskṛtaiḥ || bhojanaṃ madhuraṃ snigdhaṃ kṣīramāṃsarasādibhiḥ || rasairbileśayānāṃ ca viṣkirāṇāṃ tathaiva ca || drākṣāsitekṣudravyāṇām upayogo bhavenniśi || śayanāsanayānāni manojñāni mṛduni ca || nidrānāśe tu kurvīta tathā'nyānyapi buddhimān || nidrātiyoge vamanaṃ hitaṃ saṃśodhanāni ca || laṅghanaṃ raktamokṣaś ca manovyākulanāni ca || kaphamedoviṣārtānāṃ rātrau jāgaraṇaṃ hitam || divāsvapnaś ca tṛṭśūlahikkājīrṇātisāriṇām || indriyārtheṣv asaṃprāptirgauravaṃ jṛmbhaṇaṃ klamaḥ || nidrārtasyeva yasyehā tasya tandrāṃ vinirdiśet || pītvaikamanilocchvāsamudveṣṭan vivṛtānanaḥ || yaṃ muñcati sanetrāsraṃ sa jṛmbha iti saṃjñitaḥ || yo 'nāyāsaḥ śramo dehe pravṛddhaḥ śvāsavarjitaḥ || klamaḥ sa iti vijñeya indriyārthaprabādhakaḥ || sukhasparśaprasaṅgitvaṃ duḥkhadveṣaṇalolatā || śaktasya cāpyanutsāhaḥ karmasvālasyamucyate || utkliśyānnaṃ na nirgacchet prasekaṣṭhīvaneritam || hṛdayaṃ pīḍyate cāsya tamutkleśaṃ vinirdiśet || vaktre madhuratā tandrā hṛdayodveṣṭanaṃ bhramaḥ || na cānnamabhikāṅkṣeta glāniṃ tasya vinirdiśet || ārdracarbhāvanaddhaṃ vā(hi)yo gātramabhimanyate || tathā guru śiro 'tyarthaṃ gauravaṃ tadvinirdiśet || mūrcchā pittatamaḥprāyā, rajaḥpittānilādbhramaḥ || tamovātakaphāttandrā, nidrā śleṣmatamobhavā || garbhasya khalu rasanimittā mārutādhmānanimittā ca parivṛddhir bhavati || bhavanti cātra | tasyāntareṇa nābhes tu jyotiḥsthānaṃ dhruvaṃ smṛtam || tadādhamati vātas tu dehastenāsya vardhate || ūṣmaṇā sahitaś cāpi dārayatyasya mārutaḥ || ūrdhvaṃ tiryagadhastāc ca srotāṃsyapi yathā tathā || dṛṣṭiś ca romakūpāś ca na vardhante kadācana || dhruvāṇyetāni martyānām iti dhanvantarermatam || śarīre kṣīyamāṇe 'pi vardhete dvāvimau sadā || svabhāvaṃ prakṛtiṃ kṛtvā nakhakeśāviti sthitiḥ || sapta prakṛtayo bhavanti---doṣaiḥ pṛthak, dviśaḥ, samastaiś ca || śukraśoṇitasaṃyoge yo bhaveddoṣa utkaṭaḥ || prakṛtirjāyate tena tasyā me lakṣaṇaṃ śṛṇu || tatra yaḥ prajāgarūkaḥ śītadveṣī durbhagaḥ steno matsaryanāryo gāndharvacittaḥ sphuṭitakaracaraṇo 'lparūkṣaśmaśrunakhakeśaḥ krāthī dantanakhakhādī ca bhavati || adhṛtiradṛḍhasauhṛdaḥ kṛtaghnaḥ kṛśaparuṣo dhamanītataḥ pralāpī || drutagatiraṭano 'navasthitātmā viyati ca gacchati saṃbhrameṇa suptaḥ || avyavasthitamatiścaladṛṣṭirmandaratnadhanasaṃcayamitraḥ || kiṃcideva vilapatyanibaddhaṃ mārutaprakṛtireṣa manuṣyaḥ || vātikāś cājagomāyuśaśākhūṣṭraśunāṃ tathā || gṛghrakākakharādīnāmanūkaiḥ kīrtitā narāḥ || svedano durgandhaḥ pītaśithilāṅgastāmranakhanayanatālujihvauṣṭhapāṇipādatalo durbhago valipalitakhālityajuṣṭo bahubhuguṣṇadveṣī kṣiprakopaprasādo madhyamaṣolo madhyamāyuś ca bhavati || medhāvī nipuṇamatirvigṛhya vaktā tejasvī samitiṣu durnivāravīryaḥ || suptaḥ san kanakapalāśakarṇikārān saṃpaśyed api ca hutāśavidyudulkāḥ || na bhayāt praṇamed anateṣv amṛduḥ praṇateṣv api sāntvanadānaruciḥ || bhavatīha sadā vyathitāsya gatiḥ sa bhaved iha pittakṛtaprakṛtiḥ || bhujaṅgolūkagandharvayakṣamārjāravānaraiḥ || vyāghrarkṣanakulānūkaiḥ paittikās tu narāḥ smṛtāḥ || dūrvendīvaranistriṃśārdrāriṣṭakaśarakāṇḍānām anyatamavarṇaḥ subhagaḥ priyadarśano madhurapriyaḥ kṛtajño dhṛtimān sahiṣṇuralolupo balavāṃściragrāhī dṛḍhavairaś ca bhavati || śuklākṣaḥ sthirakuṭilāli(ti)nīlakeśo lakṣmīvān jaladamṛdaṅgasiṃhaghoṣaḥ || suptaḥ san sakamalahaṃsacakravākān saṃpaśyedapi ca jalāśayān manojñān || raktāntanetraḥ suvibhaktagātraḥ snigdhacchaviḥ sattvaguṇopapannaḥ || kleśakṣamo mānayitā gurūṇāṃ jñeyo balāsaprakṛtirmanuṣyaḥ || dṛḍhaśāstramatiḥ sthiramitradhanaḥ parigaṇya cirāt pradadāti bahu || pariniścitavākyapadaḥ satataṃ gurumānakaraś ca bhavetsa sadā || brahmarudrendravaruṇaiḥ siṃhāśvagajagovṛṣaiḥ || tārkṣyahaṃsasamānūkāḥ śleṣmaprakṛtayo narāḥ || dvayor vā tisṛṇāṃ vā'pi prakṛtīnāṃ tu lakṣaṇaiḥ || jñātvā saṃsargajā vaidyaḥ prakṛtīrabhinirdiśet || prakopo vā'nyabhāvo vā kṣayo vā nopajāyate || prakṛtīnāṃ svabhāvena jāyate tu gatāyuṣaḥ || viṣajāto yathā kīṭo na viṣeṇa vipadyate || tadvatprakṛtayo martyaṃ śaknuvanti na bādhitum || prakṛtimiha narāṇāṃ bhautikīṃ kecidāhuḥ pavanadahanatoyaiḥ kīrtitāstās tu tisraḥ || sthiravipulaśarīraḥ pārthivaś ca kṣamāvān śuciratha cirajīvī nābhasaḥ khairmahadbhiḥ || śaucamāstikyamabhyāso vedeṣu gurupūjanam || priyātithitvamijyā ca brahmakāyasya lakṣaṇam || māhātmyaṃ śauryamājñā ca satataṃ śāstrabuddhitā || bhṛtyānāṃ bharaṇaṃ cāpi māhendraṃ kāyalakṣaṇam || śītasevā sahiṣṇutvaṃ paiṅgalyaṃ harikeśatā || priyavāditvamityetaddāruṇaṃ kāyalakṣaṇam || madhyasthatā sahiṣṇutvamarthasyāgamasaṃcayau || mahāprasavaśaktitvaṃ kauberaṃ kāyalakṣaṇam || gandhamālyapriyatvaṃ ca nṛtyavāditrakāmitā || vihāraśīlatā caiva gāndharvaṃ kāyalakṣaṇam || prāptakārī dṛḍhotthāno nirbhayaḥ smṛtimān śuciḥ || rāgamohamadaddeṣairvarjito yāmyasattvavān || |japavratabrahmacaryahomādhyayanasevinam || jñānavijñānasaṃpannamṛṣisattvaṃ naraṃ viduḥ || saptaite sāttvikāḥ kāyā rajasāṃs tu nibodhame || aiśvaryavantaṃ raudraṃ ca śūraṃ caṇḍamasūyakam || ekāśinaṃ caudarikamāsuraṃ sattvamīdṛśam || tīkṣṇamāyāsinaṃ bhīruṃ caṇḍaṃ māyānvitaṃ tathā || vihārācāracapalaṃ sarpasattvaṃ vidurnaram || pravṛddhakāmasevī cāpyajasrāhāra eva ca || amarṣaṇo 'navasthāyī śākunaṃ kāyalakṣaṇam || ekāntagrāhitā raudramasūyā dharmabāhyatā || bhṛśam ātmastavaś cāpi rākṣasaṃ kāyalakṣaṇam || ucchiṣṭāhāratā taikṣṇyaṃ sāhasapriyatā tathā || strīlolupatvaṃ nairlajjyaṃ paiśācaṃ kāyalakṣaṇam || asaṃvibhāgam alasaṃ duḥkhaśīlam asūyakam || lolupaṃ cāpy adātāraṃ pretasattvaṃ vidurnaram || ṣaḍ ete rājasāḥ kāyāḥ, tāmasāṃs tu nibodha me || durmedhastvaṃ mandatā ca svapne maithunanityatā || nirākariṣṇutā caiva vijñeyāḥ pāśavā guṇāḥ || anavasthitatā maurkhyaṃ bhīrutvaṃ salilārthitā || parasparābhimardaś ca matsyasattvasya lakṣaṇam || ekasthānaratir nityam āhāre kevale rataḥ || vānaspatyo naraḥ sattvadharmakāmārthavarjitaḥ || ity ete trividhāḥ kāyāḥ proktā vai tāmasās tathā || kāyānāṃ prakṛtīrjñātvā tv anurūpāṃ kriyāṃ caret || mahāprakṛtayastvetā rajaḥsattvatamaḥkṛtāḥ || proktā lakṣaṇataḥ samyag bhiṣak tāś ca vibhāvayet ||

pañcamo 'dhyāyaḥ | athātaḥ śarīrasaṃkhyāvyākaraṇaṃ śārīraṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ || yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ || śukraśoṇitaṃ garbhāśayastham ātmaprakṛtivikārasaṃmūrcchitaṃ 'garbha' ity ucyate | taṃ cetanāvasthitaṃ vāyur vibhajati, teja enaṃ pacati, āpaḥ kledayanti, pṛthivīsaṃhanti, ākāśaṃ vivardhayati; evaṃ vivardhitaḥ sa yadā hastapādajihvāghrāṇakarṇanitambādibhir aṅgair upetas tadā 'śarīraṃ' iti saṃjñāṃ labhate | tac ca ṣaḍaṅgaṃ---śākhāś catasro, madhyaṃ pañcamaṃ, ṣaṣṭhaṃ śira iti || ataḥ paraṃ pratyaṅgāni vakṣyante---mastakodarapṛṣṭhanābhilalāṭanāsācibukabastigrīvā ity etā ekaikāḥ, karṇanetrabhrūśaṅkhāṃsagaṇḍakakṣastanavṛṣaṇapārśvasphigjānubāhūruprabhṛtayo dve dve, viṃśatir aṅgulayaḥ, srotāṃsi vakṣyamāṇāni , eṣa pratyaṅgavibhāga uktaḥ || tasya punaḥ saṃkhyānaṃ---tvacaḥ kalā dhātavo malā doṣā yakṛtplīhānau phupphusa uṇḍuko hṛdayamāśayā antrāṇi vṛkkau srotāṃsi kaṇḍarā jālāni kūrcā rajjavaḥ sevanyaḥ saṅghātāḥ sīmantā asthīni sandhayaḥ snāyavaḥ peśyo marmāṇi sairā dhamanyo yogavahāni srotāṃsi ca || tvacaḥ sapta, kalāḥ sapta, āśayāḥ sapta, dhātavaḥ sapta, sapta sirāśatāni, pañca peśīśatāni, nava snāyuśatāni, trīṇyasthiśatāni, dve daśottare saṃdhiśate, saptottaraṃ marmaśataṃ, caturviṃśatirdhamanyaḥ, trayo doṣāḥ, trayo malāḥ, nava srotāṃsi,(ṣoḍaśa kaṇḍarāḥ, ṣoḍaśa jālāni, ṣaṭ kūrcāḥ, catasro rajjavaḥ, sapta sevanyaḥ, caturdaśa saṅghātāḥ, caturdaśa sīmantāḥ, dvāviṃśatiryogavahāni srotāṃsi, dvikānyantrāṇi ) ceti samāsaḥ || vistāro 'ta ūrdhvaṃ---tvaco 'bhihitāḥ kalā dhātavo malā doṣā yakṛtplīhānau phupphusa uṇḍuko hṛdayaṃ vṛkkau ca || āśayās tu vātāśayaḥ, pittāśayaḥ, śleṣmāśayo, raktāśaya, āmāśayaḥ, pakvāśayo, mūtrāśayaḥ, strīṇāṃ garbhāśayo 'ṣṭama iti || sārdhatrivyāmānyantrāṇi puṃsāṃ, strīṇāmardhavyāmahīnāni || śravaṇanavadanaghrāṇagudameḍhrāṇi nava srotāṃsi narāṇāṃ bahirmukhāni, etānyeva strīṇāmaparāṇi ca trīṇi dve stanayor adhastādraktavahaṃ ca || ṣoḍaśa kaṇḍarāḥ---tāsāṃ catasraḥ pādayoḥ, tāvatyo hastagrīvāpṛṣṭheṣu; hastayor dvau, pādayor dvau, grīvāmeḍhrayor ekaikaḥ || mahatyo māṃsarajjavaścatasraḥ---pṛṣṭhavaṃśamubhayataḥ peśīnibandhanārthaṃ dve bāhye, ābhyantare ca dve || sapta sevanyaḥ; sirasi vibhaktāḥ pañca, jihvāśephasorekaikā; tāḥ parihartavyāḥ śastreṇa || caturdaśāsthnāṃ saṃghātāḥ; teṣāṃ trayo gulphajānuvaṅkṣaṇeṣu, etenetarasakthi bāhū ca vyākhyātau, trikaśirasorekaikaḥ || caturdaśaiva sīmantāḥ; te cāsthisaṅghātavadgaṇanīyāḥ, yatastairyuktā asthisaṃghātāḥ; ye hyuktāḥ saṃghātāste khalvaṣṭādaśaikeṣām || trīṇi saṣaṣṭīnyasthiśatāni vedavādino bhāṣante; śalyatantre tu trīṇyeva śatāni | teṣāṃ saviṃśamasthiśataṃ śākhāsu, saptadaśottaraṃ śataṃ śroṇipārśvapṛṣṭhoraḥsu, grīvāṃ pratyūrdhvaṃ triṣaṣṭiḥ, evamasthnāṃ trīṇi śatāni pūryante || ekaikasyāṃ tu pādāṅgulyāṃ trīṇi trīṇi tāni pañcadaśa, talakūrcagulphasaṃśritāni daśa, pārṣṇyāmekaṃ, jaṅghāyāṃ dve, jānunyekaṃ, ekamūrāviti, triṃśadevam ekasmin sakthni bhavanti, etenetarasakthi bāhū ca vyākhyātau; śroṇyāṃ pañca, teṣāṃ gudabhaganitambeṣu catvāri, trikasaṃśritamekaṃ, pārśve ṣaṭtriṃśadekasmin , dvitīye 'pyevaṃ, pṛṣṭhe triṃśat, aṣṭāvurasi , dve aṃśaphalake , grīvāyāṃ nava, kaṇṭhanāḍyāṃ catvāri, dve hanvoḥ, dantā dvātriṃśat, nāsāyāṃ trīṇi, ekaṃ tāluni, gaṇḍakarṇaśaṅkheṣvekaikaṃ, ṣaṭ śirasīti || etāni pañcavidhāni bhavanti; tadyathā---kapālarucakataruṇavalayanalakasaṃjñāni | teṣāṃ jānunitanbāṃsagaṇḍatāluśaṅkhaśiraḥsu kapālāni, daśanās tu rucakāni, ghrāṇakarṇagrīvākṣikoṣeṣu taruṇāni, pārśvapṛṣṭhoraḥsu valayāni, śeṣāṇi nalakasaṃjñāni || bhavanti cātra | abhyantaragataiḥ sārairyathā tiṣṭhanti bhūruhāḥ || asthisārais tathā dehā dhriyante dehināṃ dhruvam || tasmācciravinaṣṭeṣu tvaṅgāṃseṣu śarīriṇām || asthīni na vinaśyanti sārāṇy etāni dehinām || māṃsānyatra nibaddhāni sirābhiḥ snāyubhis tathā || asthīnyālambanaṃ kṛtvā na śīryante patanti vā || sandhayas tu dvividhāśceṣṭāvantaḥ, sthirāś ca || śākhāsu hanvo kaṭyāṃ ca ceṣṭāvantas tu sandhayaḥ || śeṣās tu sandhayaḥ sarve vijñeyā hi sthirā budhaiḥ || saṅkhyātas tu daśottare dve śate; teṣāṃ śākhāsvaṣṭaṣaṣṭiḥ, ekonaṣaṣṭiḥ koṣṭhe, grīvāṃ pratyūrdhvaṃ tryaśītiḥ | ekaikasyāṃ pādāṅgulyāṃ tryastrayaḥ, dvāvaṅguṣṭhe, te caturdaśa; jānugulphavaṅkṣaṇeṣvekaikaḥ, evaṃ saptadaśaikasmin sakthni bhavanti; etenetarasakthi bāhū ca vyākhyātau; trayaḥ kaṭīkapāleṣu, caturviṃśatiḥ pṛṣṭhavaṃśe, tāvanta eva pārśvayoḥ, urasyāṣṭau; tāvanta eva grīvāyāṃ, trayaḥ kaṇṭhe, nāḍīṣu hṛdayaklomanibaddhāsvaṣṭādaśa, dantaparimāṇā dantamūleṣu, ekaḥ kākalake nāsāyāṃ ca, dvau vartmamaṇḍalajau netrāśrayau, gaṇḍakarṇaśaṅkheṣvekaikaḥ, dvau hanusandhī, dvāvupariṣṭādbhruvoḥ śaṅkhayośca, pañca śiraḥkapāleṣu, eko mūrdhni || ta ete sandhayo 'ṣṭavidhāḥ---korolūkhalasāmudgaprataratunnasevanīvāyasatuṇḍamaṇḍalaśaṅkhāvartāḥ | teṣām aṅgulimaṇibandhagulphajānukūrpareṣu korāḥ sandhayaḥ, kakṣāvaṅkṣaṇadaśaneṣūlūkhalāḥ, aṃsapīṭhagudabhaganitambeṣu sāmudgāḥ, grīvāpṛṣṭhavaṃśayoḥ pratarāḥ, śiraḥkaṭīkapāleṣu tunnasevanyaḥ, hanor ubhayatastu vāyasatuṇḍaḥ, kaṇṭhahṛdayanetraklomanāḍīṣu maṇḍalāḥ, śrotraśṛṅgāṭakeṣu śaṅkhāvartāḥ | teṣāṃ nāmabhir evākṛtayaḥ prāyeṇa vyākhyātāḥ || asthnāṃ tu sandhayo hyete kevalāḥ parikīrtitāḥ || peśīsnāyusirāṇāṃ tu sandhisaṅkhyā na vidyate || nava snāyuśatāni | tāsāṃ śākhāsu ṣaṭśatāni, dve śate triṃśac ca koṣṭhe, grīvāṃ pratyūrdhvaṃ saptatiḥ | ekaikasyāṃ tu pādāṅgulyāṃ ṣaṭ nicitāḥ, tāstriṃśat, tāvatya eva talakūrcagulpheṣu, tāvatya eva jaṅghāyāṃ, daśa jānuni, catvāriṃśadūrau, daśa vaṅkṣaṇe, śatamadhyardhamevam ekasmin sakthni bhavanti, etenetarasakthi bāhū ca vyākhyātau; ṣaṣṭiḥ kaṭyāṃ, pṛṣṭe 'śītiḥ, pārśvayoḥ ṣaṣṭiḥ, urasi triṃśat; ṣaṭtriṃśadgrīvāyāṃ, mūrdhni catustriṃśat; evaṃ nava snāyuśatāni vyākhyātāni (bhavanti) || bhavanti cātra | snāyūścaturvidhā vidyāttās tu sarvā nibodha me || pratānavatyo vṛttāś ca pṛthvyaś ca śuṣirās tathā || pratānavatyaḥ śākhāsu sarvasandhiṣu cāpyatha || vṛttās tu kaṇḍarāḥ sarvā bijñeyāḥ kuśalairiha || āmapakvāśayānteṣu bastau ca śuṣirāḥ khalu || pārśvorasi tathā pṛthulāś ca śirasyatha || nauryathā phalakāstīrṇā bandhanairbahubhir yutā || bhārakṣamā bhavedapsu nṛyuktā susamāhitā || evam eva śarīre 'smin yāvantaḥ sandhayaḥ smṛtāḥ | snāyubhir bahubhir baddhāstena bhārasahā narāḥ || na hy asthīni na vā peśyo na sirā na ca sandhayaḥ || vyāpāditās tathā hanyuryathā snāyuḥ śarīriṇam || yaḥ snāyūḥ pravijānāti bāhyāś cābhyantarās tathā || sa gūḍhaṃ śalyamāhartuṃ dehācchaknoti dehinām || pañca peśīśatāni bhavanti | tāsāṃ catvāri śatāni śākhāsu, koṣṭhe ṣaṭṣaṣṭiḥ, grīvāṃ pratyūrdhvaṃ catustriṃśat | ekaikasyāṃ tu pādāṅgulyāṃ tisrastisrastāḥ pañcadaśa, daśa prapade, pādopari kūrcasanniviṣṭāstāvatya eva, daśa gulphatalayoḥ, gulphajānvantare viṃśatiḥ, vañ ca jānuni, viṃśatirūrau, daśa vaṅkṣaṇe, śatamevam ekasmin sakthni bhavanti, etenetarasakthi bāhū ca vyākhyātau; tisraḥ pāyau, ekā meḍhre, sevanyāṃ cāparā, dve vṛṣaṇayoḥ, sphicoḥ pañca pañca, dve bastiśirasi, pañcodare, nābhyāmekā, pṛṣṭhordhvasanniviṣṭāḥ pañca pañca dīrghāḥ, ṣaṭ pārśvayoḥ, daśa vakṣasi, akṣakāṃsau prati samantāt sapta, dve hṛdayāmāśayayoḥ, ṣaṭ yakṛtplīhoṇḍukeṣu; grīvāyāṃ catasraḥ, aṣṭau hanvoḥ, ekaikā kākalakagalayoḥ, dve tāluni, ekā jihvāyāṃ, oṣṭhayor dve, nāsāyāṃ dve, dve netrayoḥ, gaṇḍayoścatasraḥ, karṇayor dve, catasro lalāṭe, ekā śirasīti; evam etāni pañca peśīśatāni || bhavati cātra | sirāsnāyvasthiparvāṇi sandhayaś ca śarīriṇām || peśībhiḥ saṃvṛtānyatra balavanti bhavantyataḥ || strīṇāṃ tu viṃśatiradhikā | daśa tāsāṃ stanayor ekaikasmin pañca pañceti, yauvane tāsāṃ parivṛddhiḥ; apatyapathe catasraḥ---tāsāṃ prasṛte 'bhyantarato dve, mukhāśrite bāhye ca vṛtte dve, garbhacchidrasaṃśritāstisraḥ, śukrārtavapraveśinyastisra eva | pittakvāśayayor madhye garbhaśayyā, yatra garbhastiṣṭhati || tāsāṃ bahalapelavasthūlāṇupṛthuvṛttahrasvadīrghāsthiramṛduślakṣṇakarkaśabhāvāḥ sandhyasthisirāsnāyupracchādakā yathāpradeśaṃ svabhāvata eva bhavanti || bhavati cātra | puṃsāṃ peśyaḥ purastādyāḥ proktā lakṣaṇamuṣkajāḥ || strīṇāmāvṛtya tiṣṭhanti phalamantargataṃ hi tāḥ || marmasirādhamanīsrotasāmanyatra pravibhāgaḥ || śaṅkhanābhyākṛtiryonistryāvartā sā prakīrtitā || tasyāstṛtīye tvāvarte garbhaśayyā pratiṣṭhitā || yathā rohitamatsyasya mukhaṃ bhavati rūpataḥ || tatsaṃsthānāṃ tathārūpāṃ garbhaśayyāṃ vidurbudhāḥ || ābhugno 'bhimukhaḥ śete garbho garbhāśaye striyāḥ || sa yoniṃ śirasā yāti svabhāvāt prasavaṃ prati || tvakparyantasya dehasya yo 'yamaṅgaviniścayaḥ || śalyajñānādṛte naiśa varṇyate 'ṅgeṣu keṣucit || tasmānniḥsaṃśayaṃ jñānaṃ hartrā śalyasya vāñchatā || śodhayitvā mṛtaṃ samyagdraṣṭavyayo 'ṅgaviniścayaḥ || pratyakṣato hi yaddṛṣṭaṃ śāstradṛṣṭaṃ ca yadbhavet || samāsatastadubhayaṃ bhūyo jñānavivardhanam || tasmāt samastagātramaviṣopahatamadīrghavyādhipīḍitamavarṣaśatikaṃ niḥsṛṣṭāntrapurīṣaṃ puruṣamavahantyāmāpagāyāṃ nibaddhaṃ pañjarasthaṃ muñjavalkalakuśaśaṇādīnāmanyatamenāveṣṭitāṅgapratyaṅgamaprakāśe deśe kothayet, samyakprakuthitaṃ coddhṛtya tato dehaṃ saptarātrāduśīrabālaveṇuvalkalakūrcānām anyatamena śanaiḥ śanairavagharṣayaṃstvagādīn sarvāneva bāhyābhyantarānaṅgapratyaṅgaviśeṣān yathoktān lakṣayeccakṣuṣā || (ślokau cātra bhavataḥ |) na śakyaś cakṣuṣā draṣṭuṃ dehe sūkṣmatamo vibhuḥ | dṛśyate jñānacakṣurbhis tapaścakṣurbhir eva ca || śarīre caiva śāstre ca dṛṣṭārthaḥ syādviśāradaḥ || dṛṣṭaśrutābhayāṃ sandehamavāpohyācaret kriyāḥ ||

ṣaṣṭho 'dhyāyaḥ | athātaḥ pratyekamarmanirdeśaṃ śārīraṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ || yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ || saptottaraṃ marmaśatam | tāni marmāṇi pañcātmakāni bhavanti, tad yathā---māṃsamarmāṇi, sirāmarmāṇi, snāyumarmāṇi, asthimarmāṇi; sandhimarmāṇi ceti; na khalu māṃsasirāsnāyvasthisandhivyatirekeṇānyāni marmāṇi bhavanti, yasmān nopalabhyante || tatraikādaśa māṃsamarmāṇi, ekacatvāriṃśat sirāmarmāṇi, saptaviṃśatiḥ snāyumarmāṇi, aṣṭāv asthimarmāṇi, viṃśatiḥ sandhimarmāṇi ceti | tad etat saptottaraṃ marmaśatam || teṣām ekādaśaikasmin sakthni bhavanti, etenetarasakthi bāhū ca vyākhyātau, udarorasor dvādaśa, caturdaśa pṛṣṭhe, grīvāṃ pratyūrdhvaṃ saptatriṃśat || tatra sakthimarmāṇi kṣipratalahṛdayakūrcakūrcaśirogulphendrabastijānvāṇyūrvīlohitākṣāṇi viṭapaṃ ceti, etenetaratsakthi vyākhyātam | udarorasos tu gudabastinābhihṛdayastanamūla-stanarohitāpalāpānyapastambhau ceti | pṛṣṭhamarmāṇi tu kaṭīkataruṇakukundaranitambapārśvasandhibṛhatyaṃsaphalakānyaṃsau ceti | bāhumarmāṇi tu kṣipratalahṛdayakūrcakūrcaśiromaṇibandhendrabastikūrparāṇyūrvīlohitākṣaṇi kakṣadharaṃ ceti; etenetaro bāhurvyākhyātaḥ | jatruṇa ūrdhvaṃ (marmāṇi) catasro dhamanyo 'ṣṭau mātṛkā dve kṛkāṭike dve vidhure dve phaṇe dvāv apāṅgau dvāv āvartau dvāv utkṣepau dvau śaṅkhāv ekā sthapanī pañca sīmantāś catvāri śṛṅgāṭakānyeko 'dhipatiriti || tatra talahṛdayendrabastigudastanarohitāni māṃsamarmāṇi, nīladhamanīmātṛkāśṛṅgāṭakāpāṅgasthapanīphaṇastanamūlāpalāpāpastambhahṛdayanābhipārśvasandhibṛhatīlohitākṣorvyaḥ sirāmarmāṇi, āṇīviṭapakakṣadharakūrcakūrcaśirobastikṣiprāṃsavidhurotkṣepāḥ snāyumarmāṇi, kaṭīkataruṇanitambāṃsaphalakaśaṅkhāstvasthimarmāṇi, jānukūrparasīmantādhipatigulphamaṇibandhakukundarānartakṛkāṭikāś ceti sandhimarmāṇi || tāny etāni pañcavikalpāni marmāṇi bhavanti | tad yathā---sadyaḥprāṇaharāṇi, kālāntaraprāṇaharāṇi, viśalyaghnāni, vaikalyakarāṇi, rujākarāṇīti | tatra sadyaḥprāṇaharāṇy ekonaviṃśatiḥ, kālāntaraprāṇaharāṇi trayastriṃśat, trīṇi viśalyaghnāni, catuścatvāriṃśad vaikalyakarāṇi, aṣṭau rujākarāṇīti || bhavanti cātra | śṛṅgāṭakāny adhipatiḥ śaṅkhau kaṇṭhasirā gudam || hṛdayaṃ bastinābhī ca ghnanti sadyo hatāni tu || vakṣomarmāṇi sīmantatalakṣiprendrabastayaḥ || kaṭīkataruṇe sandhī pārśvajau bṛhatī ca yā || nitambāv iti caitāni kālāntaraharāṇi tu || utkṣepau sthapanī caiva viśalyaghnāni nirdiśet || lohitākṣāṇi jānūrvīkūrcaniṭapakūrparāḥ || kukundare kakṣadhare vidhure sakṛkāṭike || aṃsāṃsaphalakāpāṅgā nīle manye phaṇe tathā || vaikalyakaraṇāny āhur āvartau dvau tathaiva ca || gulphau dvau maṇibandhau dvau dve dve kūrcaśirāṃsi ca || rujākarāṇi jānīyād aṣṭāv etāni buddhimān || kṣiprāṇi viddhamātrāṇi ghnanti kālāntareṇa ca || marmāṇi nāma māṃsasirāsnāyvasthisandhisannipātāḥ; teṣu svabhāvata eva viśeṣeṇa prāṇās tiṣṭhanti; tasmān marmasv abhihatās tāṃs tān bhāvan āpadyante || tatra sadyaḥprāṇaharāṇyāgneyāni, agniguṇeṣvāśu kṣīṇeṣu kṣapayanti; kālāntaraprāṇaharāṇi saumyāgneyāni, agniguṇeṣvāśu kṣīṇeṣu krameṇa ca somaguṇeṣu kālāntareṇa kṣapayanti; viśalyaprāṇaharāṇi vāyvyāni, śalyamukhāvaruddho yāvad antarvāyus tiṣṭhati tāvaj jīvati, uddhṛtamātre tu śalye marmasthānāśrito vāyurniṣkrāmati, tasmāt saśalyo jīvaty uddhṛtaśalyo mriyate (pākātpatitaśalyo vā jīvati) ; vaikalyakarāṇi saumyāni, somo hi sthiratvāc chaityāc ca trāṇāvalambanaṃ karoti; rujākarāṇyagnivāyuguṇabhūyiṣṭhāni, viśeṣataśca tau rujākarau, pāñcabhautikīṃ ca rujām āhur eke || kecid āhur māṃsādīnāṃ pañcānāmapi samastānāṃ vivṛddhānāṃ ca samavāyāt sadyaḥprāṇaharāṇi, ekahīnānām alpānāṃ vā kālāntaraprāṇaharāṇi, dvihīnānāṃ viśalyaprāṇaharāṇi, trihīnānāṃ vaikalyakarāṇi, ekasminn eva rujākarāṇīti | naivaṃ, yato 'sthimarmasvapyabhihateṣu śoṇitāamanaṃ bhavati || bhavanti cātra | caturvidhā yās tu sirāḥ śarīre prāyeṇa tā marmasu sanniviṣṭāḥ || snāyvasthimāṃsāni tathaiva sandhīn santarpya dehaṃ pratipālayanti || tataḥ kṣte marmaṇi tāḥ pravṛddhaḥ samantato vāyur abhistṛṇoti ||vivardhamānas tu sa mātariśvā rujaḥ sutīvrāḥ pratanoti kāye || rujābhibhūtaṃ tu tataḥ śarīraṃ pralīyate naśyati cāsya saṃjñā || ato hi śalyaṃ vinihartumicchanmarmāṇi yatnena parīkṣya karṣet || etenaśeṣaṃ vyākhyātam || tatra sadyaḥprāṇaharam ante viddhaṃ kālāntareṇa mārayati, kālāntaraprāṇaharam ante viddhaṃ vaikalyamāpādayati viśalyaprāṇaharaṃ ca, vaikalyakaraṃ kālāntaraṃ kleśayati rujāṃ ca karoti, rujākaramatīvravedanaṃ bhavati || tatra sadyaḥprāṇaharāṇi saptarātrābhyantarān mārayati, kālāntaraprāṇaharāṇi pakṣān māsād vā, teṣv api kṣiprāṇi kadācid āśu mārayanti, viśalyaprāṇaharāṇi vaikalyakarāṇi ca kadācid atyabhihatāni mārayanti || uta ūrdhvaṃ pratyekaśo marmasthānāni vyākhyāsyāmaḥ---tatra pādasyāṅguṣṭhāṅgulyor madhye kṣipraṃ nāma marma, tatra viddhasyākṣepakeṇa maraṇaṃ; madhyamāṅgulīm anupūrvaṇa madhye pādatalasya talahṛdayaṃ nāma , tatrāpi rujābhir maraṇaṃ; kṣipratyopariṣṭādubhayataḥ kūrco nāma, tatra pādasya bhramaṇavepane bhavataḥ; gulphasandher adha ubhayataḥ kūrcaśiro nāma, tatra rujāśophau; pādajaṅghayoḥ sandhāne gulpho nāma, tatra rujaḥ stabdhapādatā khañjatā vā; pārṣṇiṃ prati jaṅghāmadhye indribastir nāma, tatra śoṇitakṣayeṇa maraṇaṃ; jaṅghorvoḥ sandhāne jānu nāma, tatra khañjatā; jānuna ūrdhvam ubhayatas tryaṅgulamāṇī nāma, tatra śophābhivṛddhiḥ stabdhasakthitā ca; ūrumadhye ūrvī nāma, tatra śoṇitakṣayāt sakthiśoṣaḥ; ūrvyā ūrdhvam adho vaṅkṣaṇasaṃdher-ūrumūle lohitākṣaṃ nāma, tatra lohitakṣayeṇa pakṣāghātaḥ sakthiśoṣo vā; vaṅkṣaṇavṛṣaṇayor antare niṭapaṃ nāma, tatra ṣāṇḍhyam alpaśukratā vā bhavati; evam etāny ekādaśa sakthimarmāṇi vyākhyātāni | etenetarasakthi bāhū ca vyākhyātau | viśeṣatas tu yāni sakthni gulphajānuviṭapāni tāni bāhau maṇibandhakūrparakakṣadharāṇi; yathā vaṅkṣaṇavṛṣaṇayor antare viṭapamevaṃ vakṣaḥkakṣayor madhye kakṣadharaṃ, tasmin viddhe ta evopadravāḥ; viśeṣatas tu maṇibandhe kuṇṭhatā, kūrparākhye kuṇiḥ, kakṣadhare pakṣāghātaḥ | evam etāni catuścatvāriṃśacchākhāsu marmāṇi vyākhyātāni || ata ūrdhvam udarorasor-marmāṇy anuvyākhyāsyāmaḥ ---tatra vātavarconirasanaṃ sthūlāntraprativaddhaṃ gudaṃ nāma marma, tatra sadyomaraṇaṃ; alpamāṃsaśoṇito+bhyantarataḥ kṭyāṃ mutrāśayo bastirnāma, tatrāpi sadyomaraṃam aśmarīvraṇād ṛte, tatrāpy ubhayato bhinne na jāvati, ekato bhinne mūtrasrāvī vraṇo bhavati, sa tu yatnenopakrānto rohati; pakvāmāśayayor madhye sirāprabhāvā nābhir nāma, tatrāpi sadyo maraṇaṃ; stanayor madhyamadhiṣṭhāyor asyāmāśayadvāraṃ sattvarajastamasām adhiṣṭhānaṃ hṛdayaṃ nāma, tatrāpi sadya eva maraṇaṃ; stanayor adhastād dvyaṅgulam ubhayataḥ stanamūle nāma (marmaṇī), tatra kaphapūrṇakoṣṭhatayā kasaśvāsābhyāṃ mriyate; stanacūcukayor ūrdhvaṃ dvaṅgulamubhayataḥ stanarohitau nāma, tatra lohitapūrṇakoṣṭhatayā kāsaśvāsābhyāṃ ca mriyate; aṃsakūṭayor adhastāt pārśboparibhāgayor apalāpau nāma, tatra raktena pūyabhāvaṃ gatena maraṇaṃ; ubhayatroraso nāḍyau vātavahe apastambhau nāma, tatra vātapūrṇakoṣṭhatayā kāsaśvāsābhyāṃ ca maraṇaṃ; e am etāny udarorasor dvādaśa marmāṇi vyākhyātāni || ata ūrdhvaṃ pṛṣṭhamarmāṇi vyākhyāsyāmaḥ---tatra pṛṣṭhavaṃśam ubhayataḥ pratiśroṇikāṇḍamasthinī kaṭīkataruṇe nāma marmāṇī, tatra śoṇitakṣayāt pāṇḍurvivarṇo hīnarūpaśca mriyate, pārśvajaghanabahirbhāge pṛṣṭhavaṃśam ubhayato (nātinimne) kukundare nāma marmāṇi, tatra sparśājñānam adhaḥkāye ceṣṭopaghātaś ca; śroṇīkāṇḍayor upary āśayāc chādanau pārśvāntarapratibaddhau nitambau nāma, tatrādhaḥkāyaśoṣo daurbalyāc ca maraṇaṃ; adhaḥpārśvāntarapratibaddhau jaghanapārśvamadhyayos tiryag ūrdhvaṃ ca jaghanāt pārśvasandhī nāma, tatra lohitapūrṇakoṣṭhatayā mriyate; stanamūlādṛjūbhayateḥ pṛṣṭhavaṃśasya bṛhatyau nāma, tatra śoṇitātipravṛttinimittair upadravair mriyate; pṛṣṭhopari pṛṣṭhavaṃśam ubhayatas trikasaṃbaddhe aṃsaphalake nāma, tatra bāhvoḥ svāpaśoṣau; bāhumūrdhagrīvāmadhye 'sapīṭhasakandhanibandhanāvaṃsau nāma, tatra stabdhabāhutā; evam etāni caturdaśa pṛṣṭhamarmāṇi vyākhyātāni || ata ūrdhvamūrdhvajatrugatāni vyākhyāsyāmaḥ---tatra kaṇṭhanāḍīm ubhayataś catasro dhamanyo dve nīle dve ca manye vyatyāsena, tatra mūkatā svaravaikṛtamarasagrāhitā ca; grīvāyām ubhayataś-catasraḥ sirā mātṛkāḥ, tatra sadyomaraṇaṃ; śirogrīvayoḥ sandhāne kṛkāṭike nāma, tatra calamūrdhatā; karṇapṛṣṭhato 'dhaḥsaṃśrite vidhure nāma, tatra bādhiryaṃ; ghrāṇamārgam ubhayataḥ srotomārgapratibaddhe abhyantarataḥ phaṇe nāma, tatra gandhājñānaṃ; bhrūpucchāntayor adho 'kṣṇorbāhyato 'pāṅgau nāma, tatrāndhyaṃ dṛṣṭyupaghāto vā; bhruvor upari nimnayor āvartau nāma, tatrāpyāndhyaṃ dṛṣṭyupaghāto vā; bhruvoḥ pucchāntayor upari karṇalalāṭayor madhye śaṅkhau nāma, tatra sadyomaraṇaṃ; śaṅkhayor upari keśānta utkṣepau nāma, tatra saśalyo jīvati pākāt patitaśalyo vā noddhṛtaśalyaḥ; bhruvor madhye sthapanī nāma, tatrotkṣepavat; pañca sandhayaḥ śirasi vibhaktāḥ sīmantā nāma, tatronmādabhayacittamāśairmaraṇaṃ; ghrāṇaśrotrākṣijihvāsantarpaṇīnāṃ sirāṇāṃ madhye sirāsannipātaḥ śṛṅgāṭakāni, tāni catvāri marmāṇi, tatrāpi sadyo maraṇaṃ; mastakābhyantarata upariṣṭāt sirāsandhisannipāto romāvarto 'dhipatiḥ, tatrāpi sadya eva | evam etāni saptatriṃśad ūrdhvajatrugatāni marmāṇi vyākhyātāni || bhavanti cātra | ūrdhyaḥ śirāṃsi viṭape ca sakakṣapārśve ekaikamaṅgulamitaṃ stanapūrvamūlam || viddhyaṅguladvayamitaṃ maṇibandhagulphaṃ trīṇy eva jānu saparaṃ saha kūrparābhyām || hṛdbastikūrcagudanābhi vadanti mūrdhni catvāri pañca ca gale daśa yāni ca dve || tāni svapāṇitalakuñcitasaṃmitāni śeṣāṇyavehi parivistarato 'ṅgulārdhām || etatpramāṇamabhivīkṣya vadanti tajjñāḥ śastreṇa karmakaraṇaṃ parihṛtya kāryam || pārśvābhighātitamapīha nihanti marma tasmād dhi marmasadanaṃ parivarjanīyam || cchinneṣu pāṇicaraṇeṣu sirā narāṇāṃ saṅkocamīyurasṛgalpamato nireti || prāpyāmitavyasanamugramato manuṣyāḥ saṃcchinniśākhataruvannidhanaṃ na yānti || kṣipreṣu tatra sataleṣu hateṣu raktaṃ gacchatyatīva pavanaś ca rujaṃ karoti || evaṃ vināśam upayānti hi tatra viddhā vṛkṣā ivāyudhavighātanikṛttamūlāḥ || tasmāt tayor abhihatasya tu pāṇipādaṃ chettavyamāśu maṇibandhanagulphadeśe || marmāṇi śalyaviṣayārdham udāharanti yasmāc ca marmasu hatā na bhavanti sadyaḥ || jīvanti tatra yadi vaidyaguṇena ke cit te prāpnuvanti vikalatvamasaṃśayaṃ hi || saṃbhinnajarjaritakoṣṭhaśiraḥkapālā jīvanti śastravi(ni)hataiś ca śarīradeśaiḥ || chinnaiś ca sakthibhujapādakarair-aśeṣairyeṣāṃ na marmapatitā vividhāḥ prahārāḥ || somamārutatejāṃsi rajaḥsattvatamāṃsi ca || marmasu prāyaśaḥ puṃsāṃ bhūtātmā cāvatiṣṭhate || marmasv abhihatās tasmān na jīvanti śarīriṇaḥ || indriyārtheṣv asaṃprāptir manobuddhiviparyayaḥ || rujaś ca vividhās tīvrā bhavanty āśuhare hate || hate kālāntaraghne tu dhruvo dhātukṣayo nṛṇām || tato dhātukṣayāj jantur vedanābhiś ca naśyati || hate vaikalyajanane kevalaṃ vaidyanaipuṇāt || śarīraṃ kriyayā yuktaṃ vikalatvam avāpnuyāt || viśalyaghneṣu vijñeyaṃ pūrvoktaṃ yac ca kāraṇam || rujākarāṇi marmāṇi kṣatāni vividhā rujaḥ || kurvanty ante ca vaikalyaṃ kuvaidyavaśago yadi || chedabhedābhighātebhyo dahanād dāraṇā dapi || upaghātaṃ vijānīyān marmaṇāṃ tulyalakṣaṇam || marmābhighātas tu ca kaś cid asti yo 'lpātyayo vā'pi niratyayo vā || prāyeṇa marmasv abhitāḍitās tu vaikalyam ṛcchanty atha vā mriyante || marmāṇ yadhiṣṭhāya hi ye vikārā mūrcchanti kāye vividhā narāṇām || prāyeṇa te kṛcchratamā bhavanti narasya yatnair api sādhyamānāḥ ||

iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ śārīrasthāne pratyekamarmanirdeśaśārīraṃ nāma ṣaṣṭho 'dhyāyaḥ ||6 ||

saptamo 'dhyāyaḥ | athātaḥ sirāvarṇavibhaktiṃ nāma śārīraṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ || yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ || sapta sirāśatāni bhavanti; yābhir idaṃ śarīram ārāma iva jalahāriṇībhiḥ kedāra iva ca kulyābhir upasnihyate 'nugṛhyate cākuñcanaprasāraṇādibhir viśeṣaiḥ; drumapatrasevanīnām iva ca tāsāṃ pratānāḥ; tāsāṃ nābhir mūlaṃ, tataś ca prasaranty ūrdhvam adhas tiryak ca || bhavataś cātra yāvatyas tu sirāḥ kāye saṃbhavanti śarīriṇām || nābhyāṃ sarvā nibaddhāstāḥ pratanvanti samantataḥ || nābhisthāḥ prāṇināṃ prāṇāḥ prāṇān nābhir vyupāśritā || sirābhir āvṛtā nābhiś cakranābhir ivārakaiḥ || tāsāṃ mūlasirāś catvāriṃśat; tāsāṃ vātavāhinyo daśa, pittavāhinyo daśa, kaphavāhinyo daśa, daśa raktavāhinyaḥ | tāsāṃ tu vātavāhinīnāṃ vātasthānagatānāṃ pañcasaptatiśataṃ bhavati, tāvatya eva pittavāhinyaḥ pittasthāne, kaphavāhinyaś ca kaphasthāne, raktavāhinyaś ca yakṛtplīhnoḥ, evam etāni sapta sirāśatāni || tatra vātavāhinyaḥ sirā ekasmin sakthni pañcaviṃśatiḥ, etenetarasakthi bāhū ca vyākhyātau | viśeṣatastu koṣṭhe caturstriṃśat; tāsāṃ gudameḍhrāśritāḥ śroṇyāmaṣṭau, dve dve pārśvayoḥ, ṣaṭ pṛṣṭhe, tāvatya eva codare, daśa vakṣasi | ekacatvāriṃśajjatruṇa ūrdhvaṃ, tāsāṃ caturdaśa grīvāyāṃ, karṇayoścatasraḥ, nava jihvāyāṃ, ṣaṭ nāsikāyāṃ, aṣṭau netrayoḥ, evam etat pañcasaptatiśataṃ vātavahānāṃ sirāṇāṃ vyākhyātaṃ bhavati | eṣa eva vibhāgaḥ śeṣāṇām api | viśeṣatas tu pittavāhinyo netrayor daśa, karṇayor dve; evaṃ raktavāhāḥ kaphavahāś ca | evam etāni sapta sirāśatāni savibhāgāni vyākhyātāni || bhavanti cātra | kriyāṇāmapratīghātamamohaṃ buddhikarmaṇām || karotyanyān guṇāṃś cāpi sirāḥ pavanaścaran || yadā tu kupito vāyuḥ svāḥ sirāḥ pratipadyate || tadā'sya vividhā rogā jāyante vātasaṃbhavāḥ || bhrājiṣṇutāmannarucimagnidīptimarogatām || saṃsarpatsvāḥ sirāḥ pittaṃ kuryāc cānyānguṇūnapi || yadā prakutitaṃ pittaṃ sevate svavahāḥ sirāḥ || tadā'sya vividhā rogā jāyante pittasaṃbhavāḥ || snehamaṅgeṣu sandhīnāṃ sthairyaṃ balamudīrṇatām || karotyanyān guṇāṃś cāpi balāsaḥ svāḥ sirāścaran || yadā tu kupitaḥ śleṣmā svāḥ sirāḥ pratipadyate || tadā'sya vividhā rogā jāyante śleṣmasaṃbhavāḥ || dhātūnāṃ pūraṇaṃ sparśajñānamasaṃśayam || svāḥ sirāḥ saṃcaradraktaṃ kuryāc cānyān guṇānapi || yadā tu kupitaṃ raktaṃ sevate svavahāḥ sirāḥ || tadā'sya vividhā rogā jāyante raktasaṃbhavāḥ || na hi vātaṃ sirāḥ kāścinna pittaṃ kevalaṃ tathā || śleṣmāṇāṃ vā vahantyetā ataḥ sarvavahāḥ smṛtāḥ || praduṣṭānāṃ hi doṣāṇāṃ mūrcchitānāṃ pradhāvatām || dhruvamunmāragagamanamataḥ sarvavahāḥ smṛtāḥ || tatrāruṇā vātavahāḥ pūryante vāyunā sirāḥ || pittāduṣṇāś ca nīlāśca, śītā gauryaḥ sthirāḥ kaphāt || asṛgvahās tu rohiṇyaḥ sirā nātyuṣṇaśītalāḥ || ata ūrdhvaṃ pravakṣyāmi na vidhyedāḥ sirā bhiṣak || vaikslyaṃ maraṇaṃ cāpi vyadhāttāsāṃ djrivaṃ bhavet || sirāśatāni catvāri vidyācchākhāsu buddhimān || ṣaṭtriṃśac ca śataṃ koṣṭhe catuḥṣaṣṭiṃ ca mūrdhani || śākhāsu ṣoḍaśa sirāḥ koṣṭhe dvātriṃśadeva tu || pañcāśajjatruṇaścordhvamavyadhyāḥ parikīrtitāḥ || tatra sirāśatamekasmin sakthni bhavati; tāsāṃ jāladharā tvekā, tisraś cābhyantarāḥ---tatrorvīsaṃjñe dve, lohitākṣasaṃjñā caikā, etāstvavyadhyāḥ; etenetarasakthi bāhū ca vyākhyātau; evamaśastrakṛtyāḥ ṣoḍaśa śākhāsu | dvātriṃśacchroṇyāṃ, tāsāmaṣṭāvaśastrakṛtyāḥ---dve dve viṭapayoḥ, kaṭīkataruṇayośca; aṣṭāvaṣṭāvekaikasmin pārśve, tāsāmekaikāmūrdhvagāṃ pariharet, pārśvasandhigate ca dve; catasro viṃśatiś ca pṛṣṭhe pṛṣṭhavaṃśamubhayataḥ, tāsāmūrdhvagāminyau dve dve pariharedbṛhatīsire; tāvatya evodare, tāsāṃ meḍhopari romarājīmubhayato dve dve pariharet; catvāriṃśadvakṣasi, tāsāṃ caturdaśāśastrakṛtyāḥ---hṛdaye dve, dve dve stanamūle, stanarohitāpalāpastambheṣūbhayato 'ṣṭau; evaṃ dvātriṃśadaśastrakṛtyāḥ pṛṣṭhodaroraḥsu bhavanti | catuḥṣaṣṭisirāśataṃ jatruṇa ūrdhvaṃ bhavati; tatra ṣaṭpañcāśacchirodharāyāṃ, tāsāmaṣṭau catasraś ca marmasaṃjñāḥ pariharet, dve kṛkāṭikayoḥ, dve vidhurayoḥ, evaṃ grīvāyāṃ ṣoḍaśāvyadhyāḥ; hanvor ubhayato 'ṣṭāv aṣṭau, tāsāṃ tu sandhidhamanyau dve dve pariharet; ṣaṭtriṃśajjihvāyāṃ, tāsāmadhaḥ ṣoḍaśāśastrakṛtyāḥ, rasavahe dve, vāgvahe ca dve; dvirdvādaśa nāsāyāṃ, tāsāmaupanāsikyaścatasraḥ pariharet, tāsām eva ca tālunyekāṃ mṛdāvuddeśe; aṣṭatriṃśadubhayor netrayoḥ, tāsāmekāmapāṅgayoḥ pariharet; karṇayor daśa, tāsāṃ śabdavāhinīmekaikāṃ pariharet; nāsānetragatās tu lalāṭe ṣaṣṭiḥ, tāsāṃ keśāntānugatāścatasraḥ (pariharet), āvartayor ekaikā, sthapanyāṃ caikā, parihartavyā; śaṅkhayor daśa, tāsāṃ śaṅkhasandhigatāmekaikāṃ pariharet; (ityetā nāsānetragatā boddhavyāḥ) dvādaśa mūrdhni, tāsām utkṣepayor dve pariharet, sīmanteṣv ekaikāṃ, ekām adhipatāv iti; evam aśastrakṛtyāḥ pañcāśaj jatruṇa ūrdhvam iti || bhavati cātra | vyāpnuvantyabhito dehaṃ nābhitaḥ prasṛtāḥ sirāḥ || pratānāḥ padminīkandādbisādīnāṃ yathā jalam ||

iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ śārīrasthāne sirāvrṇavibhaktiśārīraṃ nāma saptamo 'dhyāyaḥ ||7 ||

aṣṭamo 'dhyāyaḥ | athātaḥ sirāvyadhavidhiśārīraṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ || yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ || bālasthavirarūkṣakṣatakṣīṇabhīrupariśrāntamadyādhvastrīkarṣitavamitaviriktāsthāpitānuvāsitajāgaritaklībakṛśagārbhiṇīnāṃ kāsaśvāsaśoṣapravṛddhajvarākṣepakapakṣāghātopavāsapipāsāmūrcchāprapīḍitānāṃ ca sirāṃ na vidhyet, yāś cāvyadhyāḥ, vyadhyāś cādṛṣṭāḥ, dṛṣṭāś cāyantritāḥ, yantritāś cānutthitā iti || śoṇitāvasekasādhyāś ca ye vikārāḥ prāgabhihitāsteṣu cāpakveṣv anyeṣu cānukteṣu yathābhyāsaṃ yathānyāyaṃ ca sirāṃ vidhyet || pratiṣiddhānām api ca viṣopasargātyayikeṣu sirāvyadhanamapratiṣiddham || tatra snigdhasvinnamāturaṃ yathādoṣapratyanīkaṃ dravaprāyamannaṃ bhuktavantaṃ yavāgūṃ pītavantaṃ vā yathākālam upasthāpyāsīnaṃ sthitaṃ cā prāṇānabādhamāno vastrapaṭṭacarmāntarvalkalalatānām anyatamena yantrayitvā nātigāḍhaṃ nātiśithilaṃ śarīrapradeśamāsādya prāptaṃ śastramādāya sirāṃ vidhyet || naivātiśīte nātyuṣṇe na pravāte na cābhrite || sirāṇāṃ vyadhanaṃ kāryamaroge vā kadācana || tatra vyadhyasiraṃ puruṣaṃ pratyādityamukhamaratnimātrocchrite upaveśyāsane sakthnorākuñcitayor niveśya kūrparau sandhidvayasyopari hastāvantargūḍhāṅguṣṭhakṛtamuṣṭīmanyayoḥ sthāpayitvā yantraṇaśāṭakaṃ grīvāmuṣṭyor upari parikṣipyānyena puruṣeṇa paś cātsthitena vāmahastenottānena śāṭakāntadvayaṃ grāhayitvā tato vaidyo brūyāt---dakṣiṇahastena sirotthāpanārthaṃ ca yantraṃ pṛṣṭhamadhye pīḍayeti, karmapuruṣaṃ ca vāyupūrṇamukhaṃ sthāpayet; eṣauttamāṅgagatānāmantarmukhavarjānāṃ sirāṇāṃ nyadhane yantraṇavidhiḥ | tatra pādamīṣatsaṃkucitamuccaiḥ kṛtvā vyadhyasirapādaṃ jānusandheradhaḥ śāṭakenāveṣṭya hastābhyāṃ prapīḍyāgulphaṃ vyadhyapradeśasyopari caturaṅgule plotādīnāmanyatamena baddhvā vā pādasirāṃ vidhyet | athopariṣṭāddhastau gūḍhāṅguṣṭhakṛtamuṣṭī samyagāsane sthāpayitvā sukhopaviṣṭasya pūrvavadyantraṃ baddhvā hastasirāṃ vidhyet | gṛdhrasīviśvācyoḥ saṅkucitajānukūrparasya | śroṇīpṛṣṭhaskandheṣūnnāmitapṛṣṭhasyāvākśiraskasyopaviṣṭasya visphūrjitapṛṣṭhasya vidhyet | udarorasoḥ prasāritoraskasyonnāmitaśiraskasya visphūrjitadehasya | bāhubhyāmavalambamānadehasya pārśvayoḥ | avanāmitameḍhrasya meḍhre | unnamitavidaṣṭajihvāgrasyādhojihvāyām | ativyātānanasya tāluni dantamūleṣu ca | evaṃ yantropāyānanyāṃśca sirotthāpanahetūn buddhyā'vekṣya śarīravaśena vyādhivaśena ca vidadhyāt || māṃsaleṣv avakāśeṣu yavamātraṃ śastraṃ nidadhyāt, ato 'nyeṣv ardhayavamātraṃ vrīhimātraṃ vā vrīhimukhena, asthnām upari kuṭhārikayā vidhyedardhayavamātram || bhavanti cātra | vyabhre varṣāsu vidhyeta(ttu) grīṣmakāle tu śītale || hemantakāle madhyāhne śastrakālāstrayaḥ smṛtāḥ || samyakśastranipātena dhārayā yā sravedasṛk || muhūrtaṃ ruddhā tiṣṭhec ca suviddhāṃ tāṃ vinirdiśet || yathā kusumbhapuṣpebhayaḥ pūrvaṃ sravati pītikā || tathā sirāsu viddhāsu duṣṭamagre pravartate || mūrcchitasyātibhītasya śrāntasya tṛṣitasya ca || na vahanti sirā viddhāstathā'nutthitayantritāḥ || kṣīṇasya bahudoṣasya mūrcchayā+abhihatasya ca || bhūyo 'parāhṇe visrāvyā sā'paredyustryahe 'pi vā || raktaṃ saśeṣadoṣaṃ tu kuryād api vicakṣaṇaḥ || na cātiprasrūtaṃ kuryāc cheṣaṃ saṃśamanairjayet || balino bahudoṣasya vayaḥsthasya śarīriṇaḥ || paraṃ pramāṇamicchanti prasthaṃ śoṇitamokṣaṇe || tatra pādadāhapādaharṣāvabāhukacippavisarpavātaśoṇitavātakaṇṭakavicarcikāpādadārīprabhṛtiṣu kṣipramarmaṇa upariṣṭād dvyaṅgule vrīhimukhena sirāṃ vidhyet, , ślīpade taccikitsite yathā vakṣyate, kroṣṭukaśiraḥkhañjapaṅulavātavedanāsu jaṅghāyāṃ gulphasyopari caturaṅgule, apacyāmindrabasteradhastād dvyaṅgule, jānusandheruparyadho vā caturaṅgule gṛdhrasyāṃ, ūrumūlasaṃśritāṃ galagaṇḍe, etenetarasakthi bāhū ca vyākhyātau; viśeṣatas tu vāmabāhau kūrparasandherabhyantarato bāhūmadhye plīhni kaniṣṭhikānāmikayor madhye vā, evaṃ dakṣiṇabāhau yakṛdākhye(kaphodare ca, ) etām eva ca kāsaśvāsayor apyādiśanti, gṛdhrasyāmiva viśvācyāṃ, śroṇiṃ prati samantād dvyaṅgule pravāhikāyāṃ śūlinyāṃ, parivartikopadaṃśaśūkadoṣaśukravyāpatsu meḍhramadhye, (vṛṣaṇayoḥ pārśve mūtravṛddhyāṃ, nābheradhaścaturaṅgule sevanyāṃ vāmapārśve dakodare, ) vāmapārśve kakṣāstanayor antare 'ntarvidradhau pārśvaśūle ca , bāhuśoṣāvabāhukayor apyeke vadantyaṃsayor antare, trikasandhimadhyagatāṃ tṛtīyake, adhaḥskandhasandhigatāmanyatarapārśvasaṃsthitāṃ caturthake, hanusandhimadhyagatāmapasmāre, śaṅkhakeśāntasandhigatāmuro 'pāṅgalalāṭeṣu conmāde, jihvārogeṣv adhojihvāyāṃ dantavyādhiṣu ca, tāluni tālvyeṣu, karṇayor upari samantāt karṇaśūle tadrogeṣu ca, gandhāgrahaṇe vāsārogeṣu ca nāsāgre, timirākṣipākaprabhṛtiṣvakṣyāmayeṣūpanāsike lālāṭyāmapāṅgyāṃ vā, etā eva ca śirorogādhimanthaprabhṛtiṣu rogeṣviti || ata ūrdhvaṃ duṣṭavyadhanamanuvyākhyāsyāmaḥ, tatra durviddhā'tividhā kuñcitā piccitā kuṭṭitā'prasrutā'tyudīrṇā+ante 'bhihatā pariśuṣkā kūṇitāvepitā'nutthitaviddhā śastrahatā tiryagviddhā'paviddhā'vyadhyā vidrutā dhenukā punaḥ punarviddhā māṃsasirāsnāyvasthisandhimarmasu ceti viṃśatirduṣṭavyadhāḥ || tatra yā sūkṣmaśastraviddhā+avyaktamasṛk sravatirujāśophavatī ca sā durviddhā, pramāṇātiriktaviddhāyāmantaḥ praviśati śoṇitaṃ śoṇitātipravṛttirvā sā'tividdhā, kuñcitāyāmapyevaṃ, kuṇṭhaśastrapramathitā pṛthulībhāvamāpannā piccitā, anāsāditā punaḥ punarantayoś ca bahuśaḥ śastrābhihatā kuṭṭitā, śītabhayamūrcchābhir apravṛttaśoṇitā'prasrutā, tīkṣṇamahāmukhaśastraviddhā'tyudīrṇā, alparaktasrāviṇyanteviddhā ante 'bhihatā kṣīṇaśoṇitasyānilapūrṇā pariśuṣkā, caturbhāgā(ca)sāditā kiṃcitpravṛttaśoṇitā kūṇitā, duḥsthānabandhanādvepamānāyāḥ śoṇitasaṃmoho bhavati sā vepitā, anutthitaviddhāyāmapyevaṃ, chinnā'tipravṛttaśoṇitā kriyāsaṅgakarī śastrahatā, tiryakpraṇihitaśastrā kiṃciccheṣā tiryagviddhā, bahuśaḥ kṣatā hīnaśastrapraṇidhānenāpaviddhā, aśastrakṛtyā avyadhyā, anavasthitaviddhā vidrutā, pradeśasya bahuśo 'vaghaṭṭanādārohadvyadhā muhurmuhurḥ śoṇitasrāvā dhenukā, su kṣmaśastravyadhanādbahuśo bhinnā punaḥ punarviddhā, māṃsasnāyvasthisirāsandhimarmasu viddhā rujāṃ śophaṃ vaikalyaṃ maraṇaṃ cāpādayati || bhavanti cātra | sirāsu śikṣito nāsti calā hyetāḥ svabhāvataḥ || matsyavat parivartante tasmād yatnena tāḍayet || ajānatā gṛhīte tu śastre kāyanipātite || bhavanti vyāpadaścaitā bahavaś cāpy upadravāḥ || snehādibhiḥ kriyāyogairna tathā lepanair api || yāntyāśu vyādhayaḥ śāntiṃ yathā samyak sirāvyadhāt || sirāvyadhaścikitsārdhaṃ śalyatantre prakīrtitaḥ || yathā praṇihitaḥ samyagbastiḥ kāyacikitsate || tatra snigdhasvinnavāntaviriktāsthāpitānuvāsitasirāviddhaiḥ parihartavyāni---krodhāyāsamaithuna-divāsvapnavāgvyāyāmayānādhyayavasthānāsanacaṅkramaṇaśītavātātapaviruddhāsātmyājīrṇānyābalalābhāt , māsameke manyante | eteśāṃ vistaram upariṣṭādvakṣyāmaḥ || bhavataś cātra | sirāviṣāṇatumbais tu jalaukābhiḥ padais tathā || avagāḍhaṃ yathāpūrvaṃ nirharedduṣṭaśoṇitam || avagāḍhe jalaukāḥ syāt pracchānaṃ piṇḍite hitam || sirā'ṅgavyāpake rakte śṛṅgālābū tvaci sthite ||

iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ śārīrasthāne sirāvyadhavidhiśārīraṃ nāmāṣṭame 'dhyāyaḥ ||8 ||

navamo 'dhyāyaḥ | athāto dhamanīvyākaraṇaṃ śārīraṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ || yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ || caturviṃśatirdhamanyo nābhiprabhavā abhihitāḥ | tatra kecidāhuḥ---sirādhamanīsrotasāmavibhāgaḥ, sirāvikārā eva hi dhamanyaḥ srotāṃsi ceti | tat tu na samyak, anyā eva hi dhamanyaḥ srotāṃsi ca sirābhyaḥ; kasmāt? vyañjanānyatvānmūlasanniyamāt karmavaiśeṣyādāgamācca; kevalaṃ tu parasparasannikarṣāt sadṛśāgamakarmatvāt saukṣmyācca vibhaktakarmaṇāmapyavibhāga iva karmasu bhavati || tāsāṃ tu khalu nābhiprabhavāṇāṃ dhamanīnāmūrdhvagā daśa, daśa cādhogāminyaḥ, catasrastiryaggāḥ || ūrdhvagāḥ śabdasparśarūparasagandhapraśvāsocchvāsajṛmbhitakṣuddhasitakathitaruditādīnviśeṣānabhivahantyaḥ śarīraṃ dhārayanti |tās tu hṛdayamabhiprapannāstridhā jāyante, tāstriṃśat | tāsāṃ tu vātapittakaphaśoṇitarasān dve dve vahatastā daśa, śabdarūparasagandhānaṣṭābhir gṛhṇīte, dvābhyāṃ bhāṣate, dvābhyāṃ ghoṣaṃ karoti, dvābhyāṃ svapiti, dvābhyāṃ pratibudhyate, dve cāśruvāhiṇyau, dve stanyaṃ striyā vahataḥ stanasaṃśrite, te eva śukraṃ narasya stanābhyāmabhivahataḥ, tāstvetāstriṃśat savibhāgā vyākhyātāḥ | etābhir ūrdhvaṃ nābherudarapārśvapṛṣṭhoraḥskandhagrīvābāhavo dhāryante yāpyante ca || bhavati cātra | ūrdhvaṃgamā(tā)stu kurvanti karmāṇy etāni sarvaśaḥ || adhogamās tu vakṣyāmi karma tāsāṃ yathāyatham || adhogamāstu vātamūtrapurīṣaśukrārtavādīnyadho vahanti | tāstu pittāśayamabhipra(ti)pannāstatrasthamevānnapānarasaṃ vipakvamauṣṇyādvive(re)cayantyo 'bhivahantyaḥ śarīraṃ tarpayanti, arpayanti cordhvagānāṃ tiryaggāṇāṃ ca, rasasthānaṃ cābhipūrayanti, mūtrapurīṣasvedāṃś ca vive(re)cayanti; āmapakvāśayāntare ca tridhā jāyante, tāstriṃśat; tāsāṃ tu vātapittakaphaśoṇitarasān dve dve vahatastā daśa, dve 'nnavāhinyāvantrāśrite, toyavahe dve, mūtrabastimabhiprapanne mūtravahe dve, śukravahe dve śukraprādurbhāvāya, dve visargāya, te eva raktamabhivahato (visṛjataśca) nārīṇāmārtavasaṃjñaṃ, dve varconirasanyau sthūlāntrapratibaddhe, aṣṭāvanyāstiryaggāṇāṃ dhamanīnāṃ svedamarpayanti; tāstvetāstriṃśat savibhāgā vyākhyātāḥ | etābhir adhovābheḥ pakvāśayakaṭīmūtrapurīṣagudabastimeḍhrasakthīni dhāryante yāpyante ca || bhavati cātra | adhogamās tu kurvanti karmaṇy etāni sarvaśaḥ || tiryaggāḥ saṃpravakṣyāmi karma cāsāṃ yathāyatham || tiryaggāṇāṃ tu catasṛṇāṃ dhamanīnāmekaikā śatadhā sahasradhā cottarottaraṃ vibhajyante, tāstvasaṅkhyeyāḥ, tābhir idaṃ śarīraṃ gavākṣitaṃ vibaddhamātataṃ ca, tāsāṃ mukhāni romakūpapratibaddhāni, yaiḥ svedamabhivahanti rasaṃ cābhitarpayantyantarbahiśca , tair eva cābhyaṅgapariṣekāvagāhālepanavīryāṇyantaḥśarīramabhipratipadyante tvaci vipakvāni, tair eva ca sparśaṃ sukhamasukhaṃ vā gṛhṇāti; tāstvetāścatasro dhamanyaḥ sarvāṅgagatāḥ savibhāgā vyākhyātāḥ || bhavataś cātra | yathā svabhāvataḥ khāni mṛṇāleṣu biseṣu ca || dhamanīnāṃ tathā svāni raso yair upacīyate || pañcābhibhūtāstvatha pañcakṛtvaḥ pañcendriyaṃ pañcasu bhāvayanti || pañcendriyaṃ pañcasu bhāvayitvā pañcatvamāyānti vināśakāle || ata ūrdhvaṃ srotasāṃ mūlaviddhalakṣaṇam upadekṣyāmaḥ | tāni tu prāṇānnodakarasaraktamāṃsamedomūtrapurīṣaśukrārtavavahāni, yeṣv avikāraḥ; ekeṣāṃ bahūni; eteṣāṃ viśeṣā bahavaḥ | tatra prāṇavahe dve, tayor mūlaṃ hṛdayaṃ rasavāhinyaśca dhamanyaḥ, tatra viddhyasya krośanavinamanamohanabhramaṇavepanāni maraṇaṃ vā bhavati; annavahe dve, tayor mūlamāmāśayo 'nnavāhinyś ca dhamanyaḥ, tatra viddhasyādhmānaṃ śūlānnadveṣau chardiḥpipāsā 'ndhyaṃ maraṇaṃ ca; udakavahe dve, tayor mūlaṃ tālu kloma ca, tatra viddhasya pipasā sadyomaraṇaṃ ca; rasavahe dve, tayor mūlaṃ hṛdayaṃ rasavāhinyaś ca dhamanyaḥ, tatra viddhasya śoṣaḥ prāṇavahaviddhavac ca maraṇaṃ talliṅgāni ca; raktavahe dve, tayor mūlaṃ yakṛtplīhānau raktavāhinyaś ca dhamanyaḥ, tatra viddhasya śyāvāṅgatā jvaro dāhaḥ pāṇḍutā śoṇitāgamanaṃ raktanetratā ca; māṃsavahe dve, tayor mūlaṃ snāyutvacaṃ raktavahāś ca dhamanyaḥ, tatra viddhasya śvayathurmāṃsaśoṣaḥ sirāgranthayo maraṇaṃ ca; medovahe dve, tayor mūlaṃ kaṭī vṛkkau ca, tatra viddhasya svedāgamanaṃ snigdhāṅgatā tāluśoṣaḥ sthūlaśophatā pipāsā ca; mūtravahe dve, tayor mūlaṃ bastirmeḍhraṃ ca, tatra viddhasyānaddhabastitā mūtranirodhaḥ stabdhamiḍhratā ca; purīṣavahe dve, tayor mūlaṃ pakvāśayo gudaṃ ca, tatra viddhasyānāho durgandhatā grathitāntratā ca; śukravahe dve, tayor mūlaṃ stanau vṛṣaṇau ca, tatra viddhasya klībatā cirāt praseko raktaśukratā ca; ārtavavahe dve, tayor mūlaṃ garbhāśaya ārtavavāhinyaś ca dhamanyaḥ, tatra viddhāyā vandhyātvaṃ maithunāsahiṣṇutvamārtavanāśaśca; sevanīcchedādrujāprādurbhāvaḥ; bastigudaviddhalakṣaṇaṃ prāguktam iti | srotoviddhaṃ tu pratyākhyāyopacaret, uddhṛtaśalyaṃ tu kṣatavidhānenopacaret || bhavati cātra | mūlāt khādantaraṃ dehe prasṛtaṃ tv abhivāhi yat || srotas tad iti vijñeyaṃ sirādhamanivarjitam ||

daśamo 'dhyāyaḥ | athāto garbhiṇīvyākaraṇaṃ śārīraṃ vyākhyāsyāmaḥ || yathovāca bhagavān dhanvantariḥ || garbhiṇī prathamadivasāt prabhṛti nityaṃ prahṛṣṭā śuvyalaṅkṛtā śuklavasanā śāntimaṅgaladevatābrāhmaṇaguruparā ca bhavet, malinavikṛtahīnagātrāṇi na spṛśet, durgandhadurdarśanāni pariharet, udvejanīyāś ca kathāḥ, śuṣkaṃ paryuṣitaṃ kuthitaṃ klinnaṃ cānnaṃ nopabhuñjīta, bahirniṣkramaṇaṃ śūnyāgāracaityaśmaśānavṛkṣāśrayān krodhabhayasaṅkarāṃś ca bhāvān uccair bhāṣyādikaṃ ca parihared yāni ca garbhaṃ vyāpādayanti, na cābhīkṣṇaṃ tailābhyaṅgotsādanādīni niṣeveta, na cāyāsayeccharīraṃ, pūrvoktāni ca pariharet, śayanāsanaṃ mṛdv āstaraṇaṃ nātyuccam apāśrayopetam asaṃbādhaṃ ca vidadhyāt, hṛdyaṃ dravae madhuraprāyaṃ snigdhaṃ dīpanīyasaṃskṛtaṃ ca bhojanaṃ bhojayet , sāmānyam etad āprasavāt || viśeṣatas tu garbhiṇī prathamadvitīyatṛtīyamāseṣu madhuraśītadravaprāyamāhāram upaseveta, viśeṣatas tu tṛtīye ṣaṣṭikaudanaṃ payasā bhojayeccaturthe dadhnā pañcame payasā ṣaṣṭhe sarpiṣā cetyeke, caturthe payonavanītasaṃsṛṣṭamāhārayejjāṅgalamāṃsasahitaṃ hṛdyam annaṃ bhojayet , pañcame kṣīrasarpiḥsaṃsṛṣṭaṃ , ṣaṣṭhe śvaśvadaṃṣṭrāsiddhasya sarpiṣo mātrāṃ pāyayed yavāgūṃ vā, saptame sarpiḥ pṛthakparṇyādisiddham, evam āpyāyate garbhaḥ; aṣṭame badarodakena balātibalāśatapuṣpāpalalapayodadhimastutailalavaṇamadanaphalamadhughṛtamiśreṇāsthāpayet purāṇapurīṣaśuddhyartham anulomanārthaṃ ca vāyoḥ, tataḥ payomadhurakaṣāyasiddhena tailenānuvāsayet, anulome hi vāyau sukhaṃ prasūyate nirupadravā ca bhavati, ata ūrdhvaṃ snigdhābhir yavāgbhir jāṅgalarasaiścopakramedāprasavakālāt; evam upakrāntā snigdhā balavatī sukhamanupadravā prasūyate || navame māsi sūtikāgāramenāṃ praveśayet praśastatithyādau, tatrāriṣṭaṃ brāhmaṇakṣatriyavaiśyaśūdrāṇāṃ śvetaraktapītakṛṣṇeṣu bhūmipradeśeṣu bilvanyagrodhatindukabhallātaka-nirmitaṃ sarvāgāraṃ yathāsaṅkhyaṃ tanmayaparyaṅkam upaliptabhittiṃ suvibhaktaparicchadaṃ prāgdvāraṃ kakṣiṇadvāraṃ vā 'ṣṭahastāyataṃ caturhastavistṛtaṃ rakṣāmaṅgalasaṃpannaṃ vidheyam || jāte hi śithile kukṣau mukte hṛdayabandhane || saśūle jaghane vārī jñeyā sā tu prajāyinī || tatropasthitaprasavāyāḥ kaṭīpṛṣṭhaṃ prati samantād vedanā bhavaty abhīkṣṇaṃ purīṣapravṛttir mūtraṃ prasicyate yonimukhāc chleṣmā ca || prajanayiṣyamāṇāṃ kṛtamaṅgalasvastivācanāṃ kumāraparivṛtāṃ punnāmaphalahastāṃ svabhyaktāmuṣṇodakapariṣiktāmathaināṃ sambhṛtāṃ yavāgūmākaṇṭhāt pāyayet, tataḥ kṛtopadhāne mṛduni vistīrṇe śayane sthitāmābhugnasakthīmuttānāmaśaṅkanīyāścatasraḥ striyaḥ pariṇatavayasaḥ prajananakuśalāḥ kartitanakhāḥ paricareyur iti || athāsyā viśikhāntaramanulomam-asunukhamabhyajyānubrūyāc caināmikā ---subhage pravāhasveti, nacāprāptāvī pravāhasva, tato vimukte garbhanāḍīprabandhe saśūleṣu śroṇivaṅkṣaṇabastiśiraḥsu ca pravāhethāḥ śanaiḥ śanaiḥ (pūrvaṃ ), tato garbhanirgame pragāḍhaṃ, tato garbhe yonimukhaṃ prapanne gāḍhataramāviśalyabhāvāt; akālapravāhaṇādbadhiraṃ mūkaṃ kubjaṃ vyastahanumūrdhvābhighātinaṃ kāsaśvāsaśoṣopadrutaṃ vikaṭaṃ vā janayati || tatra pratilomam anulomayet || garbhasaṅge tu yoniṃ dhūpayet kṛṣṇasarpanirmokeṇa piṇḍītakena vā, badhnīyād dhiraṇyapuṣpīmūlaṃ hastapādayoḥ, dhārayet suvarcalāṃ viśalyāṃ vā || atha jātasyolbamapanīya , mukhaṃ ca saindhavasarpiṣā viśodhya, ghṛtāktaṃ mūrdhni picuṃ dadyāt; tato nābhivāḍīmaṣṭāṅgulam āyamya sūtreṇa baddhvā chedayet, tat sūtraikadeśaṃ ca kumārasya grīvāyāṃ samyag badhnīyāt || atha kumāraṃ śītābhir adbhir āśvāsya jātakarmaṇi kṛte madhusarpiranantacūrṇam aṅgulyā 'nāmikayā lehayet; tato balātailenābhyajya, kṣīravṛkṣakaṣāyeṇa sarvagandhodakena vā rūpyahemaprataptena vā vāriṇā snāpayed enaṃ kapitthapatrakaṣāyeṇa vā koṣṇena yathākālaṃ yathādoṣaṃ yathāvibhavaṃ ca || dhamanīnāṃ hṛdisthānāṃ vivṛtatvād anantaram || catūrātrāt trirātrād vā strīṇāṃ stanyaṃ pravartate || tasmāt prathame 'hni madhusarpir-anantamiśraṃ mantrapūtaṃ trikālaṃ pāyayet, dvitīye lakṣmaṇāsiddhaṃ sarpiḥ, tṛtīye ca; tataḥ prāṅgivāritastanyaṃ madhusarpiḥ svapāṇitalasaṃmitaṃ dvikālaṃ pāyayet || atha sūtikāṃ balātailābhyaktāṃ vātaharauṣadhaniṣkvāthenopacaret | saśeṣadoṣāṃ tu tad ahaḥ pippalīpippalīmūlahastipippalīcitrakaśṛṅgaveracūrṇaṃ guḍodakenoṣṇena pāyayet, evaṃ dvirātraṃ trirātraṃ vā kuryād āduṣṭaśoṇitāt | viśuddhe tato vidārigandhādisiddhāṃ snehayavāgūṃ kṣīrayavāgūṃ vā pāyayet trirātram | tato yavakolakulatthasiddhena śālyodanaṃ bhojayed balam agnibalaṃ cāvekṣya | anena vidhinā 'dhyardhamāsam upasaṃskṛtā vimuktāhārācārā vigatasūtikābhidhānā syāt, punar ārtavadarśanād ity eke || dhavvabhūmijātāṃ tu sūtikāṃ ghṛtatailayor anyatarasya mātrāṃ pāyayet pippalyādikaṣāyānupānāṃ, snehan ity ā ca syāt trirātraṃ pañcarātraṃ vā (balavatī ;) abalāṃ yavāgūṃ pāyayet trirātraṃ pañcarātraṃ vā | ata ūrdhvaṃ snigdhenānnasaṃsargeṇopacaret || prāyaśaś caināṃ prabhūtenoṣṇodakena pariṣiñcet, krodhāyāsamaithunādīn pariharet || bhavataś cātra | mithyācārāt sūtikāyā yo vyādhirupajāyate || sa kṛcchrasādhyo 'sādhyo vā bhaved atyapatarpaṇāt || tasmāt tāṃ deśakālau ca vyādhisātmyena karmaṇā || parīkṣyopacaren nityam evaṃ nātyayam āpnuyāt || athāparā 'patanty ānāhādhmānau kurute, tasmāt kaṇṭhamasyāḥ keśaveṣṭitayā 'ṅgulyā pramṛjet, kaṭukālābukṛtavedhanasarṣapasarpanirmokair vā kaṭutailavimiśrair yonimukhaṃ dhūpayet, lāṅgalīmūlakalkena vā 'syāḥ pāṇipādatalam ālimpet, mūrdhni vā 'syā mahāvṛkṣakṣīram anusecayet, kuṣṭhalāṅgalīmūlakalkaṃ vā madyamūtrayor anyatareṇa pāyayet, śālamūlakalkaṃ vā pippalyādiṃ vā madyena, siddhārthakakuṣṭhalāṅgalīmahāvṛkṣakṣīramiśreṇa surāmaṇḍena vā 'sthāpayet, etair eva siddhena siddhārthakatailenottarabastiṃ dadyāt, snigdhena vā kṛttanakhena hastenāpaharet || prajātāyāś ca nāryā rukṣaśarīrāyāstīkṣṇair-aviśodhitaṃ raktaṃ vāyunā taddeśagatenātisaṃruddhaṃ nābheradhaḥ pārśvayor bastau bastiśirasi vā granthiṃ karoti; tataś ca nābhibastyudaraśūlāni bhavanti, sūcībhir iva nistudyate bhidyate dīryata iva ca pakvāśayaḥ, samantādādhmānamudare mūtrasaṅgaś ca bhavatīti makkallalakṣaṇam | tatra (sarpiṣā sukhoṣṇena lavaṇacūrṇena vā) vīratarvādisiddhaṃ jalamuṣakādipratīvāpaṃ pāyayet, yavakṣāracūrṇaṃ vā pippalyādikvāthena, pippalyādicūrṇaṃ vā surāmaṇḍena, varuṇādikvāthaṃ vā pañcakolailāpratīvāpaṃ, pṛthakparṇyādikvāthaṃ vā bhadradārumaricasaṃsṛṣṭaṃ, purāṇaguḍaṃ vā trikaṭukacaturjātakakustumburumuśraṃ khādet, acchaṃ vā pibed ariṣṭam iti || atha bālaṃ kṣaumaparivṛtaṃ kṣaumavastrāstṛtāyāṃ śayyāyāṃ śāyayet, pīlubadarīnimbaparūṣakaśākhābhiś cainaṃ parivījayet, mūrdhni cāsyāharahastailapicum avacārayet, dhūpayec cainaṃ rakṣoghnair dhūpaiḥ, rakṣoghnāni cāsya pāṇipādaśirogrīvāsv avasṛjet, tilātasīsarṣapakaṇāṃś cātra prakiret, adhiṣṭhāne cāgniṃ prajvālayet, vraṇitopāsanīyaṃ cāvekṣeta || tato daśame 'hani mātāpitarau kṛtamaṅgalakautukau svastivācanaṃ kṛtvā nāma kuryāt āṃ yad abhipretaṃ nakṣatranāma vā || tato yathāvarṇaṃ dhātrīm upeyān madhyamapramāṇāṃ madhyamavayaskām arogāṃ śīlavatīm acapalām alolupām akṛśām asthūlāṃ prasannakṣīrām alambauṣṭhīm alambordhvastanīm avyaṅgām avyasaninīṃ jīvadvatsāṃ dogdhrīṃ vatsalām akṣudrakarmiṇīṃ kule jātāmato bhūyiṣṭhaiś ca guṇair anvitāṃ śyāmām ārogyabalavṛddhaye bālasya | tatrordhvastanī karālaṃ kuryāt , lambastanī nāsikāmukhaṃ chādayitvā maraṇam āpādayet | tataḥ praśastāyāṃ tithau śiraḥsnātam ahatavāsasam udaṅmukhaṃ śiśum upaveśya dhātrīṃ prāṅmukhīm upaveśya dakṣiṇaṃ stanaṃ dhautam īṣatparisrutam abhimantrya mantreṇānena pāyayet || `catvāraḥ sāgarās tubhyaṃ stanayoḥ kṣīravāhiṇaḥ | bhavantu subhage nityaṃ bālasya balavṛddhaye || payo 'mṛtarasaṃpītvā kumāras te śubhānane | dīrgham āyur avāpnotu devāḥ prāśyāmṛtaṃ yathā ||' ato 'nyathā nānāstanyopayogasyāsātmyād vyādhijanma bhavati || aparisrute 'py atistabdhastanyapūrṇastanapānādutsuhitasrotasaḥ śiśoḥ kāsaśvāsavamī prādurbhāvaḥ | tasmād evaṃ vidhānāṃ stanyaṃ na pāyayet || krodhaśokāvātsalyādibhiś ca striyāḥ stanyanāśo bhavati | athāsyāḥ kṣīrajananārthaṃ saumanasyam utpādya yavagodhūmaśāliṣaṣṭikamāṃsarasasurāsauvīrakapiṇyākalaśunamatsyakaśerukaśṛṅgāṭakabisavidārikandamadhukaśatāvarīnalikālābūkālaśākaprabhṛtīni vidadhyāt || athāsyāḥ stanyam apsu parīkṣeta, tac cecchītalam amalaṃ tanu śaṅkhāvabhāsam apsu nyastam ekībhāvaṃ gacchaty aphenilam atantum annotplavate 'vasīdati vā tac chuddham iti vidyāt, tena kumārasyārogyaṃ śarīropacayo balavṛddhiś ca bhavati | na ca kṣudhitaśokārtaśrāntapraduṣṭadhātugarbhiṇījvaritātikṣīṇātisthūlavidagdhabhaktaviruddhāhāratarpitāyāḥ stanyaṃ pāyayet; nājīrṇauṣadhaṃ ca bālaṃ, doṣauṣadhamalānāṃ tīvravegotpattibhayāt || bhavanti cātra | dhātryās tu gurubhir bhojyair viṣamair doṣalais tathā || doṣā dehe prakupyanti tataḥ stanyaṃ praduṣyati || mithyāhāravihāriṇya duṣṭā vātādayaḥ striyāḥ || dūṣayanti payas tena śārīrā vyādhayaḥ śiśoḥ || bhavanti kuśalas tāṃś ca bhiṣak samyag vibhāvayet || aṅgapratyaṅgadeśe tu rujā yatrāsya jāyate || muhurmuhuḥ spṛśati taṃ spṛśyamāne ca roditi || nimīlitākṣo mūrdhasthe śiro roge na dhārayet || bastis the mūtrasaṅgārto rujā tṛṣyati mūrcchati || viṇmūtrasaṅgavaivarṇyacchardyādhmānāntrakūjanaiḥ || koṣṭhe doṣān vijānīyāt sarvatrasthāṃś ca rodanaiḥ || teṣu ca yathābhihitaṃ mṛdv acchedanīyam auṣadhaṃ mātrayā kṣīrapasya kṣīrasarpiṣā dhātryāś ca vidadhyāt, kṣīrānnād asyātmani dhātryāś ca, annādasya kaṣāyādīn ātmany eva na dhātryāḥ || tatra māsādūrdhvaṃ kṣīrapāyāṅguliparvadvayagraha(ṇa)saṃmitāmauṣadhamātrāṃ vidadhyāt, kolāsthisaṃmitāṃ kalkamātrāṃ kṣīrānnādāya, kolasaṃmitāmannādāyeti || yeṣāṃ gadānāṃ ye yogāḥ pravakṣyante 'gadaṅkarāḥ || teṣu tat kalkasaṃliptau pāyayeta śiśuṃ stanau || ekaṃ dve trīṇi cāhāni vātapittakaphajvare || stanyapāyāhitaṃ sarpiritarābhyāṃ yathārthataḥ || na ca tṛṣṇābhayād atra pāyayeta śiśuṃ stanau || virekabastivamanānyṛte kuryāc ca nātyayāt || mastuluṅgakṣayād yasya vāyus tālv asthi nāmayet || tasya tṛḍdainyayuktasya sarpirmadhurakaiḥ śṛtam || pānābhyañjanayor yojyaṃ śītāmbūdvejanaṃ tathā || vātenādhmāpitāṃ nābhiṃ sarujāṃ tuṇḍisaṃjñitām || mārutaghnaiḥ praśamayet snehasvedopanāhanaiḥ || gudapāke tu bālānāṃ pittaghnīṃ kārayet kriyām || rasāñjanaṃ viśeṣeṇa pānālepanayor hitam || kṣīrāhārāya sarpiḥ pāyayet siddhārthakavacāmāṃsīpayasyāpāmārgaśatāvarīsārivābrāhmīpippapīharidrākuṣṭhasaindhavasiddhaṃ, kṣīrānnādāya madhukavacāpippalīcitrakatriphalāsiddham, annādāya dvipañcamūlīkṣīratagarabhadradārumaricamadhukaviḍaṅga-drākṣādvibrāhmīsiddaṃ ; tenārogyabalamedhāyūṃṣi śiśorbhavanti || bālaṃ punar gātrasukhaṃ gṛhṇīyāt, na cainaṃ tarjayet, sahasā na pratibodhayed vitrāsabhayāt, sahasā nāpahared utkṣiped vā vātādivighātabhayāt, nopaveśayet kaubjyabhayāt, nityaṃ cainam anuvarteta priyśatair ajighāṃsuḥ; evam anabhihatamanās tv abhivardhate nityam udagrasat tv asaṃpanno nīrogaḥ suprasannamanāś ca bhavati | vātātapavidyutprabhāpādapalatāśūnyāgāranimnasthānagra(gṛ?)hacchāyādibhyo durgrahopasargataś ca bālaṃ rakṣet || nāśucau visṛjed bālaṃ nākāśe viṣame na ca || noṣmamārutavarṣeṣu rajodhūmodakeṣu ca || kṣīrasātmyatayā kṣīramājaṃ gavyam athāpi vā || dadyād āstanyaparyāpter bālānāṃ vīkṣya mātrayā || ṣaṇmāsaṃ cainamannaṃ prāśayel laghu hitaṃ ca || nityam avarodharataś ca syāt kṛtarakṣa upasargabhayāt; prayatnataś ca grahopasargebhyo rakṣyā bālā bhavanti || atha kumāra udvijate trasyati roditi naṣṭasaṃjño bhavati nakhadaśanairghātrīmātmānaṃ ca pariṇudati dantān khādati kūjati jṛmbhate bhruvau vikṣipaty ūrdhvaṃ nirīkṣate phenam udvamati sandaṣṭauṣṭhaḥ kūro bhinnāmavarcā dīnārtasvaro niśi jāgarti durbalo mlānāṅgo matsyaccahucchrundarimatkuṇagandho yathā purā dhātryāḥ stanyam abhilaṣati tathā nābhilaṣatīti sāmānyena grahopasṛṣṭalakṣaṇam uktaṃ, vistareṇottare vakṣyāmaḥ || śaktimantaṃ cainaṃ jñātvā yathāvarṇaṃ vidyāṃ grāhayet || athāsmai pañcaviṃśativarṣāya dvādaśavarṣāṃ patnīm āvahet pitryadharmārthakāmaprajāḥ prāpsyatīti || ūnaṣoḍaśavarṣāyām aprāptaḥ pañcaviṃśatim || yady ādhatte umān garbhaṃ kukṣisthaḥ sa vipadyate || jāto vā na ciraṃ jīvej jīved vā durbalendriyaḥ || tasmād atyantabālāyāṃ garbhādhānaṃ na kārayet || ativṛddhāyāṃ dīrgharogiṇyām anyena vā vikāreṇopasṛṣṭāyāṃ garbhādhānaṃ naiva kurvīta | puruṣasyāpy evaṃvidhasya ta eva doṣāḥ saṃbhavanti || tatra pūrvoktaiḥ patiṣyati garbhe garbhāśayakaṭīvaṅkṣaṇabastiśūlāni raktadarśanaṃ ca, tatra śītaiḥ pariṣekāvagāhapradehādibhir upacarejjīvanīyaśṛtakṣīrapānaiś ca; garbhasphuraṇe muhurmuhus tat sandhāraṇārthaṃ kṣīram utpalādisiddhaṃ pāyayet; prasraṃsamāne sadāhapārśvapṛṣṭhaśūlāsṛgdarānāhamūtrasaṅgāḥ, sthānāt sthānaṃ copakrāmati garbhe koṣṭhe saṃrambhaḥ, tatra snigdhaśītāḥ kriyāḥ; vedanāyāṃ mahāsahākṣudrasahāmadhukaśvadaṃṣṭrākaṇṭakārikāsiddhaṃ payaḥ śarkarākṣaudramiśraṃ pāyayet; mūtrasaṅge darbhādisiddhaṃ; ānāhe hiṅgusauvarcalalaśunavacāsiddhaṃ; atyarthaṃ sravati rakte koṣṭhāgārikāgāramṛtpiṇḍasamaṅgādhātakīkusumanavamālikāgairikasarjarasarasāñjanacūrṇaṃ madhunā 'valihyāt, yathālābhaṃ nyagrodhāditvakpravālakalkaṃ vā payasā pāyayet, utpalādikalkaṃ vā kaśeruśṛṅgāṭakaśālūkakalkaṃ vā śṛtena payasā, udumbaraphalaudakakandakvāthena vā śarkarābhadhumadhureṇa śālipiṣṭaṃ, nyagrodhādisvarasaparipītaṃ vā vastrāvayavaṃ yonyāṃ dhārayet; athādṛṣṭaśoṇitavedanāyāṃ madhukadevadārumañjiṣṭhāpayasyāsiddhaṃ payaḥ pāyayet, tad evāśmantakaśatāvarīpayasyāsiddhaṃ vidārigandhādisiddhaṃ vā, bṛhatīdvayotpalaśatāvarīsārivāpayasyāmadhukasiddhaṃ vā, evaṃ kṣipram upakrāntāyā upāvartante rujo garbhaś cāpy āyate; vyavasthite ca garbhe gavyenoḍumbaraśalāṭusiddhena payasā bhojayet ; atīte lavaṇasnehavarjyābhir yavāgūbhir uddālakādīnāṃ pācanīyopasaṃskṛtābhir upakrameta yāvanto māsā garbhasya tāvanty ahāni; bastyudaraśūleṣu purāṇaguḍaṃ dīpanīyasaṃyuktaṃ pāyayed ariṣṭaṃ vā; vātopadravagṛhītatvāt srotasāṃ līyate garbhaḥ, so 'tikālam avatiṣṭhamāno vyāpadyate, tāṃ mṛdunā snehādikrameṇopacaret, utkrośarasasaṃśsiddhām analpasnehāṃ yavāgūṃ pāyayet, māṣatilabilvaśalāṭusiddhān vā kulmāṣān bhakṣayen madhumādhvīkaṃ cānupibet saptarātraṃ; kālātītasthāyini garbhe viśeṣataḥ sadhānyam udūkhalaṃ musalenābhihanyād viṣame vā yān āsane seveta; vātābhipanna eva śuṣyati garbhaḥ, sa mātuḥ kukṣiṃ na pūrayati mandaṃ spandate ca, taṃ bṛṃhaṇīyaiḥ payobhir māṃsarasaiś copacaret; śukraśoṇitaṃ vāyunā 'bhiprapannam avakrāntajīvam ādhmāpayaty udaraṃ, taṃ kadācid yadṛcchayopaśāntaṃ naigameṣāpahṛtam iti bhāṣante, tam eva kadācit pralīyamānaṃ nāgodaram ity āhuḥ; tatrāpi līnavat pratīkāraḥ || ata ūrdhvaṃ māsānumāsikaṃ vakṣyāmaḥ || madhukaṃ śākabījaṃ ca payasyā suradāru ca || aśmantakas tilāḥ kṛṣṇās tāmravallī śatāvarī || vṛkṣādanī payasyā ca latā sotpalasārivā || anantā sārivā rāsnā padmā madhukam eva ca || bṛhatyau kāśmarī cāpi kṣīriśuṅgās tvaco ghṛtam || pṛśniparṇī balā śigru śvadaṃṣṭrā madhuparṇikā || śṛṅgāṭakaṃ bisaṃ drākṣā kaśeru madhukaṃ sitā || vatsaite sapta yogāḥ syur ardhaślokasamāpanāḥ || yathāsaṃkhyaṃ prayoktavyā garbhasrāve payoyutāḥ || kapitthabṛhatībilvapaṭolekṣunidigdhikā- || mūlāni kṣīrasiddhāni pāyayed bhiṣag aṣṭame || navame madhukānantāpayasyāsārivāḥ pibet || kṣīraṃ śuṇṭhīpayasyābhyāṃ siddhaṃ syād daśame hitam || sakṣīrā vā hitā śuṇṭhī madhukaṃ suradāru ca || evam āpyāyate garbhas tīvrā ruk copaśāmyati || nivṛttaprasavāyās tu punaḥ ṣaḍbhyo varṣebhya ūrdhvaṃ prasavam ānāyā nāryāḥ kumāro 'lpāyur bhavati || atha garbhiṇīṃ vyādhyutpattāv atyaye chardayen madhurāmlenānnopahitenānulomayec ca, saṃśamanīyaṃ ca mṛdu vidadhyād annapānayoḥ, aśnīyāc ca madhuraprāyaṃ garbhāviruddhaṃ ca, garbhāviruddhāś ca yathāyogaṃ vidadhīta mṛdu prāyāḥ || bhavanti cātra | sauvarṇaṃ sukṛtaṃ cūrṇaṃ kuṣṭhaṃ madhu ghṛtaṃ vacā || matsyākṣakaḥ śaṅkhapuṣpī madhu sarpiḥ sakāñcanam || arkapuṣpī madhughṛtaṃ cūrṇitaṃ kanakaṃ vacā || hemacūrṇāni kaiḍaryaḥ śvetā dūrvā ghṛtaṃ madhu || catvāro 'bhihitāḥ prāśāḥ ślokārdheṣu caturṣv api || kumārāṇāṃ vapurmedhā balabuddhivivardhanāḥ ||

iti suśrutasaṃhitāyāṃ śārīrasthāne garbhiṇīvyākaraṇaṃ śārīraṃ nāma daśamo 'dhyāyaḥ ||10 ||
