siddhārthābhidhāyi nāmapadam iti tadarthagataṃ viśeṣaṃ dyotayannipātaḥ
daḥ svarādayas tu kecit satvapradhānā eveti te pi nāmapadam eva ye tu hirugāda
yaḥ kriyāpradhānāḥ teṣām ākhyāte ṃtarbhāvaḥ | na hi tiṅaṃtam evākhyātaṃ kriyāpradhā
nasya sarvasyaiva tallakṣaṇatvāt | ata evopasargakarmapravacanīyapadāny apy ākhyā
tapadam eva sādhyārthaviśeṣadyotanāt_ evaṃ nipāto pi tadgatabhedāṃtaravivakṣāyāṃ tu
nipātopasargayor api kaiścit pṛthakkaraṇaṃ tathā hi asty evāpoddhāre rthamātrāviśe
ṣo nayor na hy etau sākṣād arthaṃ vadataḥ api u tadgataviśeṣadyotakāv iti vācakā
bhyāṃ nāmākhyātābhyāṃ pravibhaktau | siddhasādhyārthaviṣayaviśeṣadyotakatvān nipā
kriyāviśeṣopajanitasaṃbaṃdhāvachedahetava iti saṃbaṃdhaviśeṣadyotanadvāre
ṇa kriyāviśeṣaprakāśanāt_ upasargeṣv evāṃta

sākṣāt kriyāviśeṣaprakāśanābhāvāt tad api paṃcamaṃ padam iti kaiścit_
tathā hi | karma proktavaṃtaḥ karmapravacanīyā iti atikrāṃtakriyākhyānalakṣaṇa
sya vyāpārasyātra saṃbhavo na tu varttamānasyety upasargebhyo bhedaḥ kriyāgataviśe
ṣadyotanapūrvakaṃ hi saṃbaṃdhāvachedanam atra varttamānaṃ tathā hi sarvaḥ saṃbaṃdhaḥ kri
yākṛta upakārakriyovitatvāt tasya kriyām aṃtareṇa upakārābhāvāt_ tatra kva
yaḥ tad yathā mātuḥ smarati mātuḥ smṛtaṃ sarppiṣo jānīta ityādau kriyādi svabhāvād eva kri
yāṃtaravyavadhānam aṃtareṇa dravyaiḥ saṃyujyate yasmān mātāpitṛviṣaye pravarttate vatiṣṭhate
vā tasmān mātāpitṛsaṃbaṃdhīdaṃ smaraṇam iti kriyākārakabhāvapūrvaka evāyam api saṃbaṃ
dha iti varṇayaṃti
aśrute tu kriyāpade dvayī gatiḥ | kvacit saṃbaṃdhisvarūpamahimnaiva kri
yāpekṣasiddheḥ pratiniyatakriyākārakabhāvapūrvakatvaṃ śeṣasaṃbaṃdhasya vinaiva karmapra
vacanīyam avagamyate | tad yathā upagor apatyaṃ vṛkṣasya śākhetyādāv apatyāpatyavatsaṃbaṃ
dho janikriyānimitto vayavāsya visaṃbaṃdha avaschitikriyānimitta ityādi
kvacit tu saṃbaṃdhānāṃ pratiniyatakriyāpūrvakatvāvadhāraṇe nāsti sāmarthyaṃ tad yathā
kriyāviśeṣo
rbhiḥ prakārair bhavati bharaṇād apaharaṇāt krayaṇād yāścayeti dānādīnāṃ tv ananyata
vinābhāvāt kriyānumīyata eva kvacit svavinābhāvinī kriyāpi na pratīyate tathā
caivaṃ jātī
ṣam avagamayati | tad uktaṃ | janayitvā kriyāṃ kāṃcit saṃbaṃdhaṃ vinivarttate | śrūyamāṇe kri
yāśabde prabaṃdho jñāyate kvacit | sa copajātaḥ saṃbaṃdho vinivṛtte kriyāpade | karma
pravacanīyena yatra tatra niyamyate iti | niyamas tasya niyatakriyājanitatvaṃ |
tumadbhāvalakṣaṇaḥ saṃbaṃdhaḥ sa niyatakriyājanita ity anunā vedyate | anuniśa
myety atrātor niśamayatikriyāsāhacaryopalabdher iha saṃpātarūpatvāt saṃhitāyās tada
numānasyaucityāt tatra kriyāvacanatvam asyānyatra dṛṣṭaśakter na kalpyaṃ
dyotyārthaniṣṭhaṃ ca
dyotakatvam iti | tad api kriyāpadāprayogād atra nāsti na ca kriyāpadākṣepakatvaṃ ya
thā pradeśaṃ viparilikhatīty atra ca lekhanāsamatvayānupapatter pi mātikriyākṣe
pakatvaṃ | kārakavibhaktir yatra prādeśam iti dvitīye niyuktas tatsamuccitakriyākṣepaḥ
iha tu saṃhitām iti śaiṣikīyaṃ vibhaktir iti kathaṃ kriyākṣepaḥ kriyākārakayor e
va parasparam ākṣepyākṣepakabhāvasyāvinābhāvena nyāyyatvāt | tad yathā praviśa
chedakasya pratyāyako nānyaḥ saṃbhavatīti pāriśeṣyād anor atra sāmarthyām adhyavasīyate |
tad uktaṃ | kriyāyā dyotako nāyaṃ saṃbaṃdhasya na vācakaḥ | nāpi kriyāpadākṣepī saṃbaṃdha
sya tu bhedaka iti | bhedako viśeṣako dyotaka ity arthaḥ | ayam atra bhāvaḥ | yad ananyathāsi
ddhaṃ tatrānor vyāpārakalpanā yuktā | yat punar anyathārthasāmarthyādinā sidhyati na tatra
tasya śaktiḥ kalpayituṃ pāryate iti padāṃtarāṇām arthāṃtaraniveśāt saṃbaṃdhaviśeṣasya
tato navagatasya karmapravacanīyaviṣayatā siddhā | nanu ca yad atrādhikyaṃ vākyārthaḥ sa
iti kriyāviśeṣajanitatvalakṣaṇaḥ saṃbaṃdhasyāvachedo vākyārthaḥ kim iti na kathyate |
anos tu paścāt_bhāvamātravṛttitvam eveti |
atrocyate | ihādhikyaṃ vākyārthatvenocya
hi sādhyasya vā viśeṣyasya vaupāttair eva sādhanair viśeṣaiś ca saṃsargas tatrādhikyaṃ | tad yathā |
gāṃ śuklām ānaya | nīlotpalam iti ca ata evocyate | āśrayāśrayiṇor vākyāt_ ni
yamas tv avatiṣṭhate iti | iyaṃ cānupātrasyaiva padārthasya vākyārthāt pratītir nāstīti na saṃ
baṃdhāvachedo trāpadārtho vākyārtha śakyate kalpayitum iti karmapravacanīyaviṣaya evā
yaṃ | yad vakṣyati | nimittaniyamaḥ śabdāt saṃbaṃdhasya na gṛhyate karmapravacanīyais tu svaviśeṣe
varudhyate iti | atra ca darśanadvayaṃ svarūpeṇaiva saṃbaṃdhāṃtaravilakṣaṇa karmapravacanīyena
saṃbaṃdho schiyate kriyāviśeṣajanitatvena veti tatra | svarūpeṇāvachedeśe viṣayakriyā
janitatvapratītiḥ saṃbaṃdhiviśeṣaparyābhāvenālabhyā | tathā hi | adhibrahmadatte yaṃdhā
ś ca janapada svam iti tayoḥ saṃbaṃdhinoḥ paripālanakarādānādikriyāprabhāvita eva saṃ
baṃdho nyāyya ity avagamyate | evam abhimanyur arjunataḥ pratīti prasinā sāṃdṛśyalakṣaṇo yaṃ
saṃbaṃdha iti dyotyate | sa punaḥ saṃbaṃdhisvarūpaparyālocanād atra saṃpraharaṇādikriyākṛta
ity avagamyate | itthaṃ va śākalyasaṃhitām anu prāvarṣad ity atrāpi hetuphala
dha ity etāpaty evām anur viśrāmyati pāṭha
tiḥ śabdaśravaṇena hi devo varṣad iti saṃbaṃdhimahimno viśiṣṭhe kriyāprabhāvitatvam avasī
svarūpāvachede pi va kriyāyāḥ kāryābhūta
saṃbaṃdhāpekṣayātītatāt karma proktavaṃta ity arthaḥ | samaṃ nety eva castutaḥ kriyāphalasyaiva
nimittaviśeṣāvacheda eva karmapravacanīyakṛta iti gaddhāṃtaḥ | adhibrahmadatte paṃcālā
iti paripālanakriyāhitatvaṃ svasvāmibhāvasyādhinā vyajyate | abhimanyur arjunataḥ
pratīty an_ parājayādikṛto nukāryānukaraṇabhāvaḥ pratinā prakāśyata ityādi sarvatra yo
jyaṃ | sustutam atistutam ityādau tu suḥ majāyām atir atikramaṇetyādinā karmapravacanīya
saṃjñādhikārikāṃ svārthanirapekṣaivopasargasaṃjñābādhanāya pravartate | yathoktaṃ karmapravaca
nīyatvaṃ kriyāyoge vidhīyate | ṣatvād iti nivṛtyartha svātyādīnāṃ hi dharmiṇām iti | arthe
na tu rūpe vibhāge prastute kriyāviśeṣāvadyotakatvād upasargapade svatyādir aṃtarbhavati nā
vyāptiḥ | tad ekaṃ vākyād ayodhriyamāṇasya vadasyāpoddhārārthaviśeṣāśrayeṇa yathāsaṃbhavaṃ bhe
chāstre saṃketitaṃ suvaṃtaṃ padaṃ cyutyatyupāyabhūtaṃ nehar gaṇanārhaṃ prakṛtipratyavad iti dṛṣṭāṃ
tapakṣanikṣiptam iti nāvyāpti na padān kilāsāv apoddhāro na vākyāt_
tad itthaṃ padāpoddhā
re pradarśite tadarthasyāpobhūtasya siddhasādhyarūpadvayayogino matabhedena sarūpopadarśanārtha
m āha
arthadvāreṇa padaṃ pararīkṣyata iti darśanabhedenam prathamam apoddhārapadārthavicāraḥ |
tathā hi | sarveṣām api śabdānāṃ padarūpāṇāṃ nāmākhyātādisvabhāvānāṃ jātibādimate
jātir evārtho na dravyam | dravyavādimate tu dravyam eva na jātiḥ| dvitīyena vāśabdena padārthāṃ
taraṃ sūcitaṃ jātiviśiṣṭadravyābhidhānam iti | ata eva tad eva saṃkalanārūpaṃ padārthānāṃ iti vi
tāvad dvayor api samānam tāvad dvayor api samānam viramya vyāpārābhāvāc chabdasya kāryāstṛ tu jātidravyayor guṇapradhānyabhā
vaḥ | yad vā prādhādhānyenaiva abhinupapdyate tathā pāṇiniabhidarśane jātidravye śabdenābhidhīyete i
ty ayam atra pakṣaḥ padārthāv ity uktaḥ tatra nāmapadasya gaur ity āder gotvādijātiniyatakriyāvi
ṣayasādhanaikārthasamavetasaṃkhyājātiviśeṣanabhāṣatām āpannabhidheyā anāśrayāyā jāte
r anupapatteḥ sāmarthyaḥ pratītaṃ dravyam |
evam ākhyātasyāpi vibhinnakriyālakṣaṇaḥ samavetābhi
nnābhidhānapratyayahetukriyājātiviṣayā sākṣād vācakaśaktiḥ | kārakādijātis tv atra
guṇabhūtā nāmapadagatayā
manvayam eti dravyajātis tv ekārthasamavāyāt
bhir apy āvṛttyotkṣepaṇādijātir abhivyajyate tathādhiśrayaṇādibhiḥ kriyākṣaṇaiḥ pacatyā
dikriyājātir iti vicārayiṣyate | vyakti dvārakaṃ cāsya nityāyā api sādhyatvam upa
padyate |
upasargādir apy atra darśane nāmākhyātasahabhāvī tad arthasya viśeṣāvadyotakatvā
j jātipadārtha eva viśeṣasya viśiṣṭaviśrāntasyaikāvasāyāt karmapravacanīyo 'pi saṃ
bandhajātiniṣṭha eva guṇaśabdānām api śuklādīnāṃ guṇajātir vācyā saṃjñāśabdā
nām api ḍitthādiśabdānāṃ jātivācitvaṃ samarthayiṣyate |

tasyaiva sākṣāt kriyāsamanyatropapatter vākyārthovagatayā codanāviṣayatvāt yathāha |

te 'pi ca
sādhanādhāradravya prādhānyaṃ vyāḍimate devadattaḥ pacatīti dravyeṇaiva sākṣā
t sāmānādhikaraṇyopapatteḥ kriyā anuguṇabhūtātra vyāpārāviṣṭaṃ hi dravyam ākhyā
tārthaḥ idaṃ tad iti sarvanāmapratyavamarśayogyaṃ vā dravyam iti sārvatrikīyaṃ vyavasthā
tathā ca vakṣyati | dravyadharmā padārthe tu dravye sarvo 'rtha ucyate iti ata eva ca śu
klādīnām api dravyapadārthatā siddhāṃ tat tadupādhivyavacchinnaṃ vā brahma dravyaśabda
vācyaṃ sarvaśabdānāṃ viṣaya iti vakṣyata eva vyaktiparyāṃ vā dravyaśabda iti |jā
tivyaktivikalpena sarvaśabdaviṣayaḥ | tathā ca sarvaśabdānām ity abhidhānāt padād
dārtho jātivyaktibhedena samāmnātaḥ | ubhayasyāpi vā śabdāt pratīter ubhayaṃ padārthaḥ
guṇapradhānabhāvabhedānvayas tu matavikalpaḥ nityatvopavarṇanaṃ ca siddhe śabdārthasaṃbandha
ity atra bhāṣye yasmiṃs tattvaṃ na vihanyate iti dravyasyāpi nityatvaṃ pravāhanityatayā śabdā
t sadaiva pratīteḥ |
