It extends from the beginning until a few lines into the commentary on verse 51 (counted as 67 in the manuscript) of the Sādhanasamuddeśa. It is strongly correlated with the manuscript from the Bhau Dāji Memorial, which suggests that they descend from the same archetype. dyotyārthaṃ niṣṭhaṃ ca dyotakatvam iti tad api kriyāpadāprayogād atra nāsti na ca kriyāpadākṣepakatvaṃ yathā prādeśaṃ viparilikhatīty a ca lekhanakriyānupapater mimātikriyākṣepakatvaṃ kārakavibhaktir hi yatra prādeśam iti dvitīyeti yuktas tatsamucitakriyākṣepaḥ iha tu saṃhitām iti śaiṣikī vibhaktir iti kathaṃ kriyākṣepaḥ kriyākārakayor eva parasparam ākṣepyākṣepakabhāvasyāvinābhāve nyāyyatvāt_ tad yathā praviśa piṃḍīm ityādau nāpi saṃbaṃdhavācitvam atrāmoḥ vibhaktyaiva tadabhidhānād iti saṃbaṃdhāvachedasya pratyāyako nānyaḥ saṃbhavatīti pāriśeṣyād anor atra sāmarthyam adhyavavyate tad uktaṃ kriyāyā dyotako nāyaṃ saṃbaṃdhasya na vācakaḥ nāpi kriyāpadākṣepī saṃbaṃdhasya tu bhedaka iti bhedako viśeṣako dyotaka ity arthaḥ ayam atra bhāvaḥ yad anyathāsiddhaṃ tatrāno vyāpārakalpanā yuktā yat punar anyathārthamarthyādinā sidhyati na tatra tasya śaktiḥ kalpayituṃ pāryata iti padāntarāṇām arthāṃtaraniveśat saṃbaṃdhaviśeṣasya tato navagatasya karmapravacanīyaviṣayatā siddhā nanu yad atrādhikyaṃ vākyārthaḥ sa iti kriyāviśeṣajanitatvalakṣaṇaḥ saṃbaṃdhasyāvachedo vākyārthaḥ kim iti na kathyate anos tu paścādbhāvamātravṛtitvam eveti

atrocyate ihādhikyaṃ vākyārthatvenocyamāna padārthapṛṣṭhapātitvenānusaraṇīyam na tu padārthollaṃghanena tattadvākyopātasya hi sādhyasya vā viśeṣyasya copāttair eva sādhanair viśeṣaiś ca saṃsargas tatrādhikyam_ tad yathā gāṃ śuklām ānaya nīlotpalam iti ca ata evocyate āśrayāśrayiṇor vākyān niyamas tavatiṣṭhata iti itthaṃ cānupātasyaiva padārthasya vākyārthāt pratītir nāstīti na saṃbaṃdhāvachedo trāpadārtho vākyārthaḥ śakyate kalpayitum iti karmapravacanīyaviṣaya evāyaṃ yad vakṣyati nimitaniyamaḥ śabdāt saṃbaṃdhasya na gṛhyate karmapravacanīyais tu svaviśeṣe varudhyate iti atra ca darśanadvayaṃ svarūpeṇaiva saṃbaṃdhāṃtaralakṣaṇaḥ karmapravacanīyena saṃbaṃdho vachidyate kriyāviśeṣajanitatvena veti tatra svarūpeṇāvachede viśeṣakriyājanitatvapratītiḥ saṃbaṃdhiviśeṣatāparyālocanālabhyā tathā hi adhibrahmadatte paṃcālā ity atra ti svasvāmibhāvo yaṃ saṃbaṃdha ity adhinā vedyate brahmadattaś ca svāmīśvaraḥ paṃcālāś ca janapadaḥ svam iti tayoḥ saṃbaṃdhinoḥ paripālanakarādānādikriyāprabhāvita eva saṃbaṃdho nyāyya ity avagamyate evam abhimanyur arjjunaḥ pratīti pratinā sādṛśyalakṣaṇo vyaṃ saṃbaṃdha iti dyotyate saṃbaṃdhisvarūpaparyālocanayād atra saṃpraharaṇāvikriyākṛta ity avagamyate itthaṃ ca śākalyasya saṃhitām anu prāvarṣad ity atrāpi hetuphabhāvo nāmāyaṃ saṃbaṃdha ity etāvaty evāyam anur viśrāmyatiṭaviśeṣarūpatvāt saṃhitāyā niśamanakriyāvagatiḥ śabdaśravaṇena hi devo varṣad iti saṃbaṃdhamahimno viśiṣṭakriyāprabhāvitvam avasīyate kecid iyān anor eva vyāpāra ity āhuḥ

svarūpāvachede pi ca kriyāyāḥ kāryabhūtasaṃbaṃdhāpekṣayātītakarmatvāt karma proktavaṃta ity arthaḥ samaṃ nety eva vastunaḥ kriyāphalasyaiva saṃbaṃdhasya prakāśanāt_ yathā tu tatrabhavat_bhartṛhares tatra tatrābhiprāyo lakṣyate tathā nimitaviśeṣāvacheda eva karmapravacanīyakṛta iti rāddhān_taḥ adhibrahmadatte paṃcālā iti paripālanakriyātirohitatvaṃ svasvāmibhāvasyādhinā vyajyate abhimanyur arjjunataḥ pratīty atra parājayakṛto nukāryānukaraṇabhāvaḥ pratinā prakāśyata iti sarvatra yojyaṃ sustutam atistutam ityādau tu suḥ pūjāyām atir atikramaṇe cetyādinā karmapravacanīyasaṃjñādhikārakī svārthanirapekṣaivopasargasaṃjñā varttate bādhanāya pravarttate yathoktaṃ karmapravacanīyatvaṃ kriyāyoge vidhīyate ṣatvādivinivṛtyarthaṃ svatyādīnāṃ hi dharmmiṇām iti arthena tu rūpeṇa vibhāge prastute kriyāviśeṣāvadyotakatvād upasargapade svatyādir āṃtarbhavatīti nāvyāptiḥ tad eva vākyād apoddhriyamāṇasya padasyāpoddhārārthaḥ viśeṣāśrayeṇa yathāsaṃbhavaṃ bhedo niraṃśakavākyavyutpatyupāyabhūtaḥ pradarśitāaḥ ata eva svādipadaṃ vākyavyutpatyanaṃtaratvāc chāstre saṃketitaṃ subaṃtaṃ padaṃ vyutpatyupāyabhūtaṃ neha gaṇanārhaṃ prakṛtipratyayavad iti dṛṣṭāṃtapakṣanikṣiptam iti nāvyāptiḥ padāt kilāsāv apoddhāro na vākyāt_

tad itthaṃ padāpoddhāre pradarśite tadarthasyāpoddhṛtasya siddhasādhyarūpadvayayogino matabhedena svarūpopadarśanārtham āha

padārthānām apoddhāri jātir vā dravyam eva vā | padārthau sarvaśabdānāṃ nityāv evopavarṇitau || 2 ||

arthadvāreṇa padaṃ parīkṣyata iti darśanabhedena prathamam apoddhārapadārthavicāraḥ tathā hi sarveṣām api śabdānāṃ padarūpāṇāṃ nāmākhyātādisvabhāvānāṃ jātivādimate jātir evārtho na dravyam dravyavādimate tu dravyam eva na jātiḥ dvitīyena vāśabdena padārthāntaraṃ sūcitaṃ jātiviśiṣṭadravyābhidhānam iti jata eva tad eva saṃkalanārūpaṃ padārthāv iti sphuṭīkṛtam anyathā vārthe prakrānte vārthopasaṃhāro nopapadyate tadvad abhidhāne tu anabhidhānaṃ tāvad dvayor api samānaviramya vyāpārābhāvāc chabdasya ārthas tu jātidravyayor guṇabhāvaḥ yad vā prādhānyenaiva bhinnaviṣayatayā pāṇinidarśane jātidravye śabdenābhidhīyate ity ayam atra pakṣaḥ padārthāv ity uktaḥ tatra nāmadasya gaur ity ādeḥ gotvādijātir niyatakriyāviṣayasādhanaikārthasamavetasaṃkhyājātir viśeṣaṇabhāvam āpannābhidheyā anāśrayādy anupapatteḥ sāmarthyāt pratītaṃ dravyam

evam ākhyātapadasyāpi vibhinnakriyākṣaṇasamavetābhinnābhidhānapratyayahetukriyā jātiviṣayā sākṣād vācakaśaktiḥ kārakādijātis tv atra guṇabhūtā nāmapadagatavacakakārakajātyā kriyājātir ākhyātapadagatā vyaktidvāreṇa samanvayam eti dravyajātis vaikārthasamavāyāt sādhanaśaktidvāreṇa kriyāyogam anubhavatisaṃkhyājātir apyekārthasamavāyāt svavyaktyātmanā śaktidvāreṇa kriyāmukhenaiva kriyānvayam etīti sarvapadārthasamanvayopapattau kalpate vākyārthaḥyathā cotkṣepaṇādikṣaṇair asamasamayabhāvibhir apy āvṛtyotkṣepaṇādijātir abhivyajyatetathādhiśrayaṇādibhiḥ kriyākṣaṇaiḥ pacatyādikriyājātir iti vicārayiṣyatevyaktidvārakaṃ vāsyā nityāyā api sādhyatvam ucyate

upasargādir apy atra darśane nāmākhyātasahabhāvī tadarthasya viśeṣāvadyotakatvāj jātipadārthaka eva viśeṣasya viśiṣṭaviśrāṃtasyaivāvasāyāt karmapravacanīyopi saṃbandho jātiniṣṭha eva guṇaśabdānām api śuklādīnāṃ guṇajātir vācyāsaṃjñāśabdānām api ḍitpādiśabdānāṃ jātiśabdatvaṃ samarthayiṣyate

tad itthaṃ vājapyāyanācāryamatena sārvatrikījātipadārthavyavasthopapadyatevyāḍimate tu sarvaśabdānāṃ dravyam arthas tasyaiva sākṣāt kriyāsamanvayopapatter vākyārthantargatatayā codanāviṣayatvāt yathāha— ‘codanāsu ca tasyārambhāt’ iti(vā॰ 1|2|64) ekajātisamanvayavaśena cātra saṃketopapattiḥ anabhidhīyamānāpi jātirūpalakṣaṇīkriyate śabdārthe yathā gṛhādau kākādiḥ ākhyāte 'pi ca sādhanādhāradravyaprādhānyaṃvyāḍimate devadattaḥ pacatīti dravyeṇaiva sākṣāt saṃbandhopapateḥ kriyā tu guṇabhūtātra vyāpārāviśiṣṭaṃ hi dravyam ākhyātārthaḥ idaṃ tad iti sarvanāmapratyavamarśayogyaṃ cātra dravyam iti sārvatrikīyaṃ vyavasthā tathā ca vakṣyati— ‘dravyadharmā padārthe tu dravye sarvo 'rtha ucyata iti | vā॰ kā॰ 3 jāti॰ 14) ata eva śuklādīnāmapi dravyapadārthanā siddhā tattadupādhivyavacchinnaṃ vā brahma dravyaṃ śācyaṃ sarvaśabdānāṃ viṣaya iti vakṣyata eva vyaktiparyāyo vā dravyaśabda iti jātivyaktivikalpena sarvaśabdaviṣaya tathā ca sarvaśabdānām ity abhidhānāt padād apy apoddhāre pratyayarūpasyāpi śabdasya yathāyogyaṃ kriyākārakasaṃkhyādi apoddhārapadārtho jātivyaktibhedena samāmnātaḥ ubhayasyāpi vā śabdāt pratīter ubhayaṃ padārthaḥ guṇapradhānabhāvabhedāśrayas tu matavikalpaḥ nityatvopavarṇanaṃ ca— ‘siddhe śabdārthasaṃbandhe’ (ma॰ bhā॰ paspaśa॰ 1|6) ity atra bhāṣye— ‘yasmin tattvaṃ na vihanyata’ (ma॰ bhā॰ 1|7) iti dravyasyāpi nityatvam pravāhanityatayā śabdāt sadaiva vā pratīteḥ

tad evam etad anaṃtaraṃ kāṃṇḍe darthanadvayam upapāditam iti yathāsaṃbhavaṃ pratinidhiś ciṃtitaḥ | idānīṃ jātau śabdenābhidhīyamānānāṃ tatra jātyaṃtarābhāvān nirmitā śabdasya pravṛtir āyetety āśaṃkyopapādayitum āha

svā āsārāraṇī ātmīyā gośarvavyāśabdatvādikā na tu sakalaśabdasādhāraṇī śabdatvādiḥ evaṃ vāsādhāraṇītvena viśeṣaṇatayā saṃbaṃdhāvyabhicāraḥ gośabdasyārthajātyā saṃbaṃdhavyabhicāre pīti sva jātir eva mukhyam abhidheyam ity uktaṃ bhavati tathā ca vākyakāraḥ na vā śabdapūrbako hy arthe saṃprakṣyaya iti ata eva vyabhicāriṇyāḥ svarūpajāter arthajāter abhidhāne pi śabdasya nāṃtarīyakam abhidhāyanam iti prathamam ity āha yadabhedena yatpratipatiḥ tad avaśyaṃ tatra pratipatavyam ity etāvatā tatra prāthamyaṃ na tu krameṇābhidhānāt_ yad vā saṃbaṃdhavyutpatikālo pekṣayā prāthamyaṃ tathā hi saṃbaṃdhavyutpatikāle rthajātya nāsti saṃbaṃdhaḥ tathātve vācakatvena tatra viniyogo 'narthakaḥ syāt_ arthasya pratipannatvād iti so rthas tāvatena śabdena na pratipannaḥ yadi tv asyajātyabhidhānaṃ tadānīṃ na syāt_ tadānarthakatvād vibhaktiḥ yogo na syād iti prāk_ saṃjñino bhisaṃbaṃdhāt_ saṃjñā rūpapadārthikety uktaṃ bhavati svarūpasvajātir vā darśane bhedena kathyate sarvair iti svarūpair arthaparaiś ca tasyā eva svarūpaparatayā vyavahārā tathāvyutpannair api śabdair avinābhāvāchabdasvarūpeṇāvasthitā jātiḥ pratipadyate arthasya kṛdity eva cchabdasvarūpābhedenāvabodhe pi yathāpratipāditakrameṇa śrayeṇa tataḥ svajātipratyāyanād anaṃtaram arthajātīnāṃ gotvādīnām ātmasu tasyā śabdatvajāteḥ samāropasya kalpanā na paramārthaḥ śabdavivartatvenārthasya śabdā tatvato bhedābhāvāt_

yad vā saṃbaṃdhavyutpatikāle gaur ayam artha ity arthajātyā śabdajāter atyaṃtabhedāt sāmānādhikaraṇānyathānupapatyābhedādhyāropaḥ kalpate yathā gaur vāhika iti anyathā saketasyaiva karttuṃ tu śakyatvāt_ tathā cāyam anādir apauruṣeyo vācyavācakabhāvaḥ tathādhyāroyo pi anyathā vācyavācakabhāva eva na ghaṭeta yathā bauddhasya dṛśyavikalpārthekākāro bhedānadhyadhyavasāyalakṣaṇaḥ na tu yathā gaur vāhīka ity atra puruṣechāyādhyāropaḥ vyavahāraśabdārthayoḥ sadaivābhedāvasāyāt katham iyaṃ prativarṇabhivyaktāsādhāraṇa jātir asamasamayabhāvibhir varṇaibhivyajyata iti cet_ yathotkṣapaṇātvādijātir iti vrūmaḥ tathā hi pratyekaṃ karmakṣaṇānām upavyaṃjakatve pi yat prathamo kṣepakṣaṇakṣaṇaḥ sa paramāṇumātravadeśākrameṇa mātmarūpatvāt_ bhramaṇāsārūpyavaśād anavadhāryamāṇa ekaiko bheda ekaiko samartho niyatajātyabhivyaṃjana iti kṣaṇāṃtaram apekṣate na ca tasya bhramaṇakṣaṇād viśeṣo nāsti upakramadyokṣipāmity evaṃ prayatnajanitatvāt_ evaṃ gośabdam uccārayāmīty evaṃ prayatno yady api gānaṃ gaganaśabdajanakāt prayatnād anya eva hetur bhedādyo gakāraṇayor api bheda eva tathāpi sādṛśyād asau duravadhāra iti vyaṃjako pi san prathamo dhvanisphuṭam abhivyanaktīty āvarttamāno pi viśadatarasāmānyaviśeṣābhivyakto hetuḥ yadāvayavaprakramabaṃdhaḥ prakrameṇopalakṣaṇa bhavati atha śabdajātiviśeṣādhiyuktā vyavahārā avatiṣṭhaṃte tadānīm asāhacaryāt parasparāvachedavaśena vilakṣaṇatayā pratibhāsanāt_ yathā ca ślokaḥ sakṛt pavyamāno nāvadhāryate abhyāsena tu phuṭyavabhāsaḥ tathā caramacetasi cakāsti ratatva sphoṭatvaṃ prathamākṣareṇa hi jāter ābhāsamātraṃ janyate taduttarotaravarṇakālāpenu tu sphuṭatarasphuṭatamaparichaṃdādhānaṃ saṃsmāraviśeṣotpādena dvāreṇābhivyaktiviśeṣa rabhatatvādau dṛṣṭeḥ tasmāc chabdād arthaṃ pratipadyāmaha iti vyavahārād varṇānom arthāvasāyajanakatvānupapatteḥ prakriyānaṃgasya prathamakāṃḍa eva vihitasvān nirayayavakaṃ pratyāyakaṃ śabdatatvaṃ jātivyaktibhedena bhinnasphoṭasvabhāvam evāṃgīkāryaṃ gaur ayam artha iti ca vācakābhedena vāpratīteḥ tadanudhyāsacarcitavapu vyavavahāryo rthaḥ tatra ca svarūpasya vācyatā prathamakāṇḍa eva nirṇītā iha tu saṃbaṃdhasamuddeśe pi nirṇeṣyate

abhidhālakṣaṇavyāpāratvam eva vyaktayati

jātau padārthe jātir vā viśeṣo vāpi jātivat_ śabdair apekṣyate yasmād atas te jātivācinaḥ 11

p__tau padārthe iti pakṣāvachedaṃ karoti atra hi pakṣe sa eva śabdo jātivācity abhyupagaṃtavyaṃ bhavatu vā mā bhūj jātiṣu jātiśabdes tu jātivyatiriktayā jātyaikasvabhāvaivāpekṣyate pratyāyyatvenāṃgīkriyate svālakṣaṇyena hi vastūnāṃ bhedaḥ spraṣṭuṃ na śakyate satve pi rūpāveśena saṃbaṃdhavyutpattau śabdasya vācakatvāt_ tathā ca jātīnām itaretarabhedo vastu satvābhidhīyate api tv abhedakalpanena tā abhidhīyaṃte abhedaś ca sāmānyam iti siddham ekaśabdatvaṃ jātaya iti

sarvaśabdaviṣayatvem avābhivyanaktiḥ

tāṃ pratipadikārthac ca dhātvarthaj ja pracakṣate sā nityā sā mahān ātmā tām āhus tvatalādayaḥ 33

sarvabhāveṣu sadrūpaṃ sāmānyam anugataṃ abhāvasyāpi budhyākāreṇa nirūpaṇān mahāsatāyāvinayāviyogāt matipadikamātravācyā satā tad uktaṃ prātipadikārthaḥ sateti dhātor api sādhanādhīnalabdho janmasu kriyāvyaktiṣu samavetā yathāpādhyupagṛhītanānātvāt sataivābhidheyadhāyakam āpadyate siddhasādhyarūpārthadvayātmanā ca tasyā eva vṛttes tadapararāśyabhāvāt sarvaśabdāviṣayātvaṃ satāyāḥ pratyayabhāgenāpy atra yathāyathaṃ saṃkhyākārakādyupādhiviśiṣṭā sataivābhidhīyate sa codayavyayarahitaṃtvān nityā satpratyayāsya sarvadānuvṛteḥ

ete satāmātrasyātmano mahataḥ tad viśeṣapariṇāmā yāt paraṃ viśeṣebhyo liṃgamātramahattattvaṃ tasminn ete satāmātre mahaty ātmany avasthāya vivṛddhikāṣṭhām anubhavati pratisaṃsṛjyamānāś ca tasminn eva satāmātre mahaty ātmany avasthāya vṛddhikāṣṭām anubhavati pratisaṃsṛjyamānāś ca tasminn eva satāmātre mahatātmany avasthāya yan niḥsaktāsatā saddaśasadd avyaktam aliṃgaṃ tasmin pratiyaṃtīty evaṃ buddhimatvaṃ mahacchabdavācyam ādyaṃ jagatkāraṇaṃ nirdiṣṭam ity ato naṃtarasyāvikāraṇagrāmasya kāraṇarūpānugamāt satārūpatvam aviruddhasatārūpaṃ sarvajagadākhyātaṃ bhavatīti satādvaitavādaḥ sāṃkhyanayenāpy upavṛṃhitaḥ evaṃ sarvaśabdavācyā satā śabdapravṛtinimitabhūteti yathāyathaṃ bhinnopādhibhāvapratyayābhidheyā saiva nanv evaṃ gotvam iti pratyayor ekārthatāprasaktāḥ naitat_ upādhibhedena satāyā bhedāt_ prātipadikena gavāśraye nayās tasyā abhidhānaṃ pratyayena tu niṣkṛṣṭāśrayasya sāmānyasyābhidhety adoṣaḥ prakṛtyarthanimitaś ca bhāvapratyayabheda iti na sāṃkarye prasaṃgaḥ
