dṛśapadadvārakaṃ tadupapattir ity arthaḥ
ubhayor api cāpoddhatasyāsatyatvaṃ samānaṃ
ko yathārthaṃ kalpitānvayavyatirekanibaṃdhano vākyavādināṃ padāpoddhāraḥ evaṃ pa
yavyatirekanimitārthāpoddhāravaśaprakṛtipratyayādyapoddhāraḥ yad āha vākyakāraḥ siddhaṃ tv atvayavyatirekā¦

sa va sāmānyasya bhedako viśeṣaḥ prakāras sādṛśyam eva sarvatra prakāraḥ kaiścid iṣyata ity ekīyaṃ mataṃ kaiścid i
dhārthaḥ jñānapratibiṃbitasya hi bāhyānukāritvena sādṛśyaṃ sarvatra prakārthaḥ saṃkalpitasadṛśasyābāhyasyānirva

vākyārthaś ca schitalakṣaṇo niraṃśaḥ kārakotkalitaśarīrakriyāsvabhāvaḥ

dvividhaḥ nāmā

syaiva prādhānyaṃ siddharūpasya saṃkhyākārakaśaṃktīnāṃ tadāśrayasād anayor eva ca nāmākhyātayor viśeṣatvāṃn ni
tathā hi siddhārthābhidhāyi nāmapadam iti tadartha
gataṃ viśeṣaṃ dyotayaṃnnipāta tatraivāṃtarbhavati tathā hi siṃddhāṃrthaṃ sākṣād vābhidadhātu ta
yatu nneyatā bhedaḥ svarādayas tu keci
neṣām ākhyāte ṃtartāḥ na hi tiṅaṃtam evākhyātaṃ kriyāpradhānasya sarvasyaiva tallakṣaṇatvāt_ ata evopasargaka
rmapravavanīyapadāny apy ākhyātapadam eva sādhyārthaviśeṣadyotanāt_ evaṃ nipāto pi ta
yāṃ tu ripāhopasargayor api kaiścit pṛthakkaraṇaṃ
kṣād arthaṃ vadanaḥ api tu ta
rthaviṣayaviśeṣadyotakatvān nipātāṃnā sādhyaikaniyatatvā dyotakāsargāyagaṃ parasparato bhedaḥ karmapravacanī
yās tu kriyāviśeṣopajanitasaṃbaṃdhāvachedahetava iti saṃbaṃdhaviśeṣadyotatadvāreṇa krayāviśeṣaprakāśa
sākṣāt kriyāviśeṣaprakāśanābhāvāt tad api paṃcamaṃ
padam iti kaiścita tathā hi karma proktavaṃtaḥ karmapravacanīyā iti atikrāṃtakriyākhyānalakṣasya vyāyāpāda
sa saṃbhavo bha tu vartamānasyety upasargebhyo bhedaḥ kriyāgataviśeṣadyotatapūrvakaṃ hi saṃbaṃdhāvachedanam atra varta
mānaṃ tathā hi sarva
yāśa
rpiṣo jānīta ityādau kriyā hi bhāsvavād eva kriyāṃtaravyavadhānam aṃtareṇa dravyaiḥ sayujyate yasmān mātāpitṛ
viṣaye pravartate vatiṣṭate vā tasmāhan mātāpitṛsaṃbaṃdhīdaṃ smāṇam iti kriyākārakabhāvapūrvaka evāyam api
saṃbaṃdha iti varṇayaṃti
aśrute tu kriyāpade dvaya gatiḥ kvacit saṃbaṃdhasvarūpamahimno va kriyākṣapasiddheḥ prati
niyatakriyākārakabhāvapūrvakatvaṃ śeṣasaṃbaṃdhasya vinaiva karmapravacanīyam avagamyate tad yathā upagor apatyaṃ vṛkṣa
tyādi kvacit tu saṃbaṃdhānāṃ pratiniyatakriyāpūrvakatvāvadhāraṇe nāsti sāmarthyaṃ tad yathā rājapuruṣa ity utra sva
svāmibhāvo bharaṇādyanekakriyānimitta ity evāvagamyate kriyāviśeṣo nāvadhāryate tannimittabhūtaḥ tathā
ca tāṣyaṃ
nanyatamāvinābhārvāt kriyānumīyata eva kvacic avinābhāvinī kriyāpi na pratīyate tathā caivaṃ jātīyake
viṣaye karmapravacanīyo niyataviśiṣṭakriyākv_tatvasaṃbaṃdhasya viśeṣam avagamathati tad uktaṃ
kiyā kāvit saṃbaṃdhaṃ vinivartate śrūyamāṇe

kalyasya sahitām anu varṣat_ iti yo yaṃ saṃhitāpravaṣyaṇayo hertuhetumabhdāvalakṣaṇaḥ saṃbaṃdhaḥ sa ripatakriyā
tāyās tadanumānasyaucityāt tatra kriyāvacanatvam asyānyatra dṛṣṭaśakter na kalpyaṃ
dyotyārthaniṣṭaṃ ca dyojakatvaa
ti tad api kriyāpadāprayogād atra nāsti na va kriyāpadākṣepakatvaṃ yathā prādeśaṃ vipaśilikhatīty atra ver lekha
nāsama
ty atra va lekhanāsama

va parasparam ākṣepyākṣepakabhāvasyāvināvena tyāpyatvāt_ tad yathā praviśa pi
tvas atrānoḥ vibhaktaiva tadabhidhānād iti saṃbaṃdhāvachedasya pratyāyako nānyaḥ saṃbhavatīti pāriśeṣyād ano
r atra sāmarthyām adhyavasīyate
yat punar anyathārthasāmarthyāṃdenā sidhyati na tatra tasya śaktiḥ kalpayituṃ pāryate iti padāta
t saṃbaṃdhaviśeṣasya tato navagatasya karmapravacanīyaviṣayatā siddhā nanu va yad atrācikyaṃ vākyārthaḥ sa iti kriyāvi
śeṣajanitatvalakṣaṇaḥ saṃbaṃdhasyāvachedo vākyārthaḥ kim iti na kathyate anos tu paścāt_bhāvamātravṛttitvam eveti
atrovyate
tradvākyopāttasya hi sādhyasya vā viśeṣyasya vopātrair eva sādhanair viśeṣaṇaiś ca saṃsargas tatrādhikyaṃ
śuklām ānayā nīlotpalam iti va ata sa vovyate
vā
m iti karmapravacanīyaviṣaya savāyaṃ yad vakṣyati
vachidyate kriyāvi
viśeṣaparyālocanālabhyā tathā hi adhibrahmadatre paṃcālād atisvasyāślibhāvo yaṃ saṃbaṃdha ity adhi
brahmadatraś ca svāmīśvaraḥ paṃcālaś ca janapadaḥ svam iti tayo saṃbaṃdhino paripālanakāradānādikriyāpra¦
bhāvita ya saṃbaṃdho nyāyya ity avagamyate savam abhimatyu irjunata pratīti pratinā sīḍaśyalakṣaṇo yaṃ saṃbaṃdha
iti dyotyate sa punaḥ saṃbaṃdhiśvarūpaparyālocanād atra sa
kalyasaṃhitām anu pāvarṣad ity atrāpi hetuphalabhāvo nāmāyaṃ saṃbaṃdha ity etāvaty evāyam anur viśrāmyati pāvi
śeṣarūpa
yāpranāvitatvam avasīyate kecid iṣānanor eva vyāpāra ity ā
svade 'pi va kriyāyāḥ kāryabhūtasaṃbaṃdhāpekṣasā¦
vat_bhṛtrehares tatra
acibrahmadatte paṃcālā iti paripālanakriyāhitatvaṃ svasvāmibhāvasyādhinā vyajyate
pratīty atra parājayādikṛto nukāryānukaraṇabhāvaḥ pratinā prakāśyata ityādi sarvatre yojya sustutam ati¦

kṣaivopasargasaṃjñāvācanāya pravartate yathāktaṃ karmapravavanīyatvaṃ kriyāyoge vidhīyate dyatvādivinitya
rthaṃ svatyādānāṃ hi dharmmiṇām iti
sargapade svatyādir aṃtarbhabhavātīti nāvyāptiḥ
śrayeṇa yathāsaṃbhavaṃ bhedo niraṃśakavākyavyutpatyupāyyabhūtaḥ pradarśitaḥ ata sava svādipadaṃ vākyavyutpa¦
ptam iti nāvyāptiḥ
tad ittha padāpoddhāre pradarśite tadarthaḥsyāpoddhatasya ¦
siddhasākaparūpadvayayogino matabhedena svaśahapedarśanārtham āha
arthadvāreṇa padaṃ parīkṣyatar ati darśanedena prathamam apoddhārapadārtha
vivāraḥ tathā hi sarveṣām api śabdānāṃ padarūpāṇāṃ nāmākhyātādisvabhāvānāṃ jātivādimate jātir evā

bhidhānam iti
nopapadyate tadvad abhidhāne tu abhidhānaṃ tāvad api samānam viramya vyāpārābhāvāc chadisya vārthas tu jātivyayor gu
ṇapradhānabhāvaḥ yad vā prādhānyavanaiva bhinnaviṣayatayā pāṇinidarśane jātidravye śabdenābhidhayaite i
dhanaikāryasamavetasaṃkhyājātiviśeṣaṇabhāvam āpannā abhidheyā anāśrayāyā jāter anupapatteḥ | sāmarthyāt pratī
taṃ dravyam |
evam ākhyātapadasyāpi vibhi | vakriyākṣaṇasamavetāmannāninānapratyayahetukriyājāti viṣa¦
yā sākṣād vācakaśaktiḥ kārakādijātis tv atra guṇabhūtā nāmapagatayā ca kārakajātyā ¦ kriyājāti
r ākhyātapadagatā vyaktidvāreṇa samanvayam eti dravyajātis tv ekārthasamavāyāt prādhanaśaktidvāreṇa kriyā
yogam anubhavati | saṃkhyājātir apy ekārthasamavāyāt svavyattātmanā śaktimukhenaiva kriyānvayayam etīti sarva
padārthasamanvayopapattau kalpate vākyārthaḥ yathā yotkṣepaṇādikṣaṇair asamasamayabhāvibhir apy āvṛttyatkṣa
paṇatvādijātir abhivyajyate tathā adhiśrayaṇādibhiḥ kriyākṣaṇaiḥ pavatyādikriyājātir iti vicārayi
ṣyate | vyakte dvārakaṃ cāsyā nityāyā api sādhyatvam upapadyate
upasargādir apy atra darśane nāmākhyātasahabhāvī
'pi saṃbandhajātiniṣṭha eva guṇaśabdānām api śuklādīnāṃ guṇajātir vācyā | saṃjñāśabdānām api ḍitthādiśa
bdānāṃ jātivācitvaṃ samarthayiṣyate
tad itthaṃ vājapyāyanācāryamatena sārvatrikī jātipadārthavyavastho
papadyate vyāḍimate tu sarvaśabdānāṃ dravyam arthaḥ, tasyaiva sākṣāt kriyāsamanvayopapatter vākyāṃrthātargatayā
codanāviṣayatvāt yathāha dhodanāsu ca tasyārambhāt iti ekajātisamanvayavaśena vātra saṃketopapa
ttiḥ anabhidhīyamānāpi jātir upalakṣaṇīkriyate śabdārthe yathā ghṛhīdaukādi
dhanādhāradravyaprādhānyaṃ vyāḍimate devadattaḥ pacatīti dravyeṇaiva sākṣāsāmānādhikarasthopapatteḥ kri
yā tu guṇabhūtātra, vyāpārāviṣṭaṃ hi dravyam ākhyātārthaḥ idaṃ tad iti sarvanāmapratyavamarśayogyaṃ cātra dravya
m iti sārvatrikīyaṃ vyavasthā tathā ca vakṣyati dravyadharmā padārthe tu dravye sarvo 'rtha ucyate iti ata eva śu
iti vakṣyata eva vyaktiparyāyo vā dravyaśabda iti jātivyaktivikalpena sarvaśabdaviṣayaḥ | tathā ca sarva
śabdānām ity anidhānāt padād apy apoddhāre prakṛtipratyayarūpasyāpi śabdasya yathāyogaṃ kriyākārakasaṃkhyā
dir apoddhārapadārtho jātivyaktibhedena samāmnātaḥ utayasyāpi vā śabdāt pratīter utayaṃ padārthaḥ guṇapradhā
nabhāvabhedāśrayas tu matavikalpaḥ nityatvopavarṇanaṃ ca siddhe śabdārthasaṃbandheity atra bhāṣye yasmiṃ sattvaṃ na
vihanyate iti dravyasyāpi nityatvam, pravāhanityatayā śabdāt praadaiva vā pratīteḥ
tad evam etad anaṃtarakāṃḍe darśanadvayam upapāditam iti yathāsaṃbhavaṃ pratini
dhiś ca ciṃtitaḥ idānīṃ jātau śabdenābhidhīyamānāyāṃ tatra jātyaṃtarābhāgan nirnimittā śabdasya prakṛttir ā
yātety āśaṃkyopapādayitum āha ||
svā asādhāraṇī ātmīyā gośabdatvādikā na tu sakalaśabdasādhāraṇī śabdatvādi evaṃ cā
sādhāraṇatvena viśeṣaṇāt tadyā saṃvadhāvyabhicāraḥ śabdasyārthajātyā saṃvaṃdhavyabhicāraḥ śabdasyārthajātyā saṃ
vaṃdhavyabhicāre pīti svajātir eva mukhyam abhidheyam ity uktaṃ bhavati tathā ca vākyakāraḥ na vā śabdapūrvako hy a
rthe saṃpratyaya iti ata evāvyabhicāriṇyā svarūpajāter arthajātyabhidhāne śatvasya nāṃtarīyakam abhidhānam idhati prathamam ity āha yadabhedena yatprattipattiḥ tad avaśyaṃ tatra pratipattavyam ity etāvatātra prāthamyaṃ na tu krame¦
ṇābhidhānaṃ yad vā saṃvaṃdhavyutpattikālāpekṣaṃ prāthamyaṃ tithā hi saṃvaṃdhavyutpattikāle rthajātyā nāsti savaṃdhaḥ¦
tathātve vācakatvena tatra viniyogo narthakaḥ syāt_ arthasya pratipannatvād iti so rthas tāvat tena śavenu na pra¦
tipannaḥ yadi ca svajātyabhidhānaṃ tadīnīṃ na syāt_ tadānarthakatvād vibhaktiyogo na syād iti prāk saṃjñinā¦
rthaparaiś ca tasyā eva svarūpatayā vyavahārāchadṛsvarūpeṇāvasthitā jātiḥ pratipadyate arthasya sariny eva śa
bdasvarūpamidenāvavodhe pi yathāpratipāditakramāśrayeṇa tataḥ svajātipratyādyanād anaṃtaraṃ arthajātī
nāṃ gotvādīnām ātmamu tasyā śabdajāteḥ samāropasya kalpanā na paramārthaḥ śabdavivartatvenārthasya śabdā¦
t tattato bhedābhāvāt_
yad vā saṃvaṃdhavyatpattikāle gaur ayam artha ity arthajātyā śabdajāte ity aṃtabhedāt sāmānā
dhikaraṇyātyathānupapattyā'bhedādhyāropa kalpyate yathā gaur vāhīka iti anyathā saṃkatasyaiva kartum aśakya
tvāt_ yathā cāyam anādir apauhaṣeau
na ghaṭeta yathā vauddhasya dṛśyavikalpārthaikīkāro bhedānadhyavasāyalakṣaṇaḥ nanu yathā gaur vāhīka ity atra pu
ruṣechayādhyāropaḥ vyavahāre śabdārthayoḥ sadaivābhedāvasāyāt katham iyaṃ prativarṇam anabhivyaktā sādhāraṇī¦
karmakṣaṇānām upavyaṃjakatve pi yaḥ prathama utkṣepaṇasyaṇaḥ mu paramāṇḍamātradeśākramaṇamātrarūpatvāt_
bhramaṇakṣaṇāt_ sārūpyavaśād anavadhāryamāṇabheda ekaiko samartho niyatajātyabhivyaṃjana iti kṣaṇāṃta
ram apekṣate na va tasya bhramaṇakṣaṇād diśeyo nāsti upakrama evo|tkṣipāmīty evaṃ prayatnajanitatvāt_ evaṃ go
śabdam uccārayāmīty ayaṃ prayatno dy api gaganaśabdajanakāt pradyatnād anya eva hetubhedāc ca gakārayor api bheda eva
tathāpi sādaśyād asau ṭuravadhāra iti vyaṃjako pi san_ prathamo dhanir asphuṭam abhivyanaktīty āvartamāno pi na vi
śadanarasāmānyaviśeṣābhivyaktau hetuḥ yadā tv avadyavapravaṃdhaḥ krameṇopala
ṣopādhiyuktā vyavahārā avatiṣṭhaṃte tadānāṃ sāhacaryāt parasparāvachedavaśena vilakṣaṇatayā pratibhāsanāt_
yathā ca ślokaḥ sakṛt pamāno nāvadhāryate abhyāsena tu sphuṭāvabhāsaḥ tathā caramacenasi cakāsti ratnatattva
chedādhānaṃ saṃskāraviśeṣotpādanaddāreṇābhivyaktiviśeṣasya ratnatatvādau daṣṭeḥ tasmāchavdād arthaṃ pratipadyāmahe¦
iti vyavahārād varṇānām arthāvasāyajanakatvānupapatteḥ prakriyābhaṃgasya prathamakāṃḍa eva vihitatvān niravaya
tyāyakaṃ śavdatatvaṃ jātivyaktiḥ bhedena bhinnaṃ sphoṭasvabhāvam evāṃgīkāryaṃ gaur ayam artha iti ca vācakābhedena vācya
pratīteḥ tadadhyāsakhacitavapur vyavavahāryo rthaḥ | tatra ca svarūpasya vācyatā prathamakāṃḍa eva vaniṇītā iha tu saṃvaṃ
dhasamuddeśe pi niṇeṣyite
abhidhāvyāpāralakṣa¦
ṇatvam eva vyaktayati ||॰
jātau padārthe iti pakṣāvachedaṃ karoti
pagaṃtavyaṃ bhavatu mā vā bhūj jātiṣu jātiśabdais tu jātir vyatiriktayā jātyaikasvabhāvaivāpekṣyate pratyāyyatve
bdasya vācakatvāt tathā ca jātīnām itarebhedo vastu san nābhidhīyate api tv abhedakalpena tā abhidhīyaṃ
te abhedaś ca sāmānyam iti siddham ekaśabdatvaṃ jātaya iti
sarvaśabdaviṣayatvam evābhivyanakti
sarvabhāveṣu sadrūpaṃ sāmānyam anugataṃ abhāvasyāpi bu
paṇāt_ mahāsattayānayāviyogāt_ prātipadikamātravācyā sattā | tad uktaṃ prātipadikārthaḥ satteti dhātubhir a
pi sādhanādhīnalabdhajanmasu
te siddhasādhyarūpārthadvayātmanā ca tasyā eva vyāvṛttes tadapararāśyabhāvāt_ sarvaśabdaviṣayatvaṃ sattāyāḥ pratya
yabhāgenāpy atra yathāyathaṃ saṃkhyākārakādyupādhiviśiṣṭā sattaivābhidhīyate sā codayavyayarahitatvān ni¦
tyā satpratyayasya sarvadānuvṛtteḥ
ete sattāmātrasyātmano mahataḥ ṣa
tasmiṃś ca sattāmātre mahaty ātmany avasthāya yat tan niḥsattāsattaṃ niḥsadasad avyaktam aliṃgaṃ tasmin pratiyaṃtīty evaṃ |
sāṃkhye buddhitatvaṃ mahachabdavācyam ādyaṃ jagatkāraṇaṃ nirdiṣṭam ity ato naṃtarasya vikārānām asya kāraṇarūpānugamā
t sattārūpatvam aviruddham iti sattārūpaṃ saṃrva jagadākhyātaṃ bhavatīti sattādvaitavādaḥ sāṅkhyanayenāpy upavṛṃhitaḥ
evaṃ ca sarvaśabdavācyā sattā śabdapravṛttinimittabhūteti yathāyathaṃ bhinnopādhibhāvapratyayābhidheyā saiva na tv e
vaṃ gotvam iti prakṛtipratyayayor ekārthatāprasaṃgaḥ naitat_
vāśrayāyās tasyā abhidhānaṃ pratyayena tu niṣvaṣṭāśrayasya sāmānyasyābhidhety adoṣaḥ
