daḥ vicāraḥ prakramyate
vākyasyaiva niraṃśasya vācakatvād aṃtarā padapratipattir vibhrama i
ti kim asatyapadavyutpādanenety āśaṃkāpoddhṛtyaiva vākyebhya ity āha
tpattāv upāyaḥ padavyutpattir vākyavādināṃ akhaṃḍapadavyutpattā|padavādināṃr ity arthaḥ

pi cāpoddhṛtasyāsatyatvaṃ samānaṃ
evaṃ padavādināṃ śāstre py anvayavyatirekanimittārthāpoddhāravaśaḥ prakṛtipratyayāpoddhāraḥ
kābhyām iti
dakī viśeṣaḥ prakāraḥ sādṛśyam eva sarvatra prakāraḥ kaiścid iṣyata ity ekīyamataṃ
pagamyata iti coktaṃ

kyārthaś ca schitalakṣaṇo niraṃśaḥ kārakotkalitaśarīrakriyāsvabhāvataḥ tatra cāṃśāṃśikalpanayāpoddhāre kārakātmā kriyātmā ca pravi
rakātmā siddharūpo ṃśaḥ yady api ca nāmapadānāṃ pratyayārthasya saṃkhyādeḥ śābdaṃ prādhānyaṃ tathāpy arthataḥ prātipadikārthasya jātyādyaṃkuri¦
tasya dravyasyaiva prādhānyaṃ siddharūpasya saṃkhyākārakaśaktīnāṃ tadāśrayatvād anayor eva ca nāmākhyātayor viśeṣatvān nipātopasargaka
rmapravacanīyalakṣaṇaḥ padabhedo ṃtarbhavati
tathā hi siddhārthābhidhāyi nāmapadam iti tadarthagataṃ viśeṣaṃ dyotayannipātaḥ tatraivāṃta
rbhavati siddhaṃ hy arthaṃ sākṣād vābhidadhātu tad_gataṃ viśeṣaṃ vā prakāśayatu neyatā bheda
dam eva ye tu hirugādayaḥ kriyāpradhānāḥ teṣām ākhyāte ṃtarbhāvaḥ na hi tiṅaṃtam evākhyātaṃ kriyāpradhānasya sarvasyaiva tallakṣaṇatvāt_ ata
evopasargakarmapravacanīyapadāny avyākhyātapadam eva sādhyārthaviśeṣadyotanāt_
pātopasargayor api kaiścit pṛthakkaraṇaṃ tathā hi asty evāpoddhāre rthamātrāviśeṣo 'nayoḥ na hy etau sākṣād arthaṃ vadataḥ api tu tadgata
viśeṣadyotakāv iti vācakābhyāṃ nāmākhyātābhyāṃ pravibhaktau siddhasādhyārthaviṣayaviśeṣadyotakatvān nipātānāṃ sādhyaikaniyata
reṇa kriyāviśeṣaprakāśanā upasargeṣv evāṃtarbhavatīti caturdhaiva kaiścit padaṃ bhinnaṃ
sākṣāt kriyāviśeṣaprakāśanābhāvāt tad api
paṃcamaṃ padam iti kaiścit_ tathā hi karma proktavaṃtaḥ karmapravacanīyā iti atikrāṃtakriyākhyānalakṣaṇasya vyāpārasyātra saṃbhavo na
tu vartamānasyety upasargebhyo bhedaḥ kriyāgataviśeṣadyotanapūrvakaṃ hi saṃbaṃdhāvachedanam atra vartamānaṃ
taḥ upakārakriyocitatvā tasya kriyām aṃtareṇa upakārābhāvāt_ tatra kvacit kriyāśabdaḥ śrūyate kvacin na yatra śrūyate tatra śrauta eva saṃbaṃ
dhaviśeṣāvasāyaḥ tad yathā mātuḥ smarati mātuḥ smṛtaṃ sarpiṣo jānīta ityādau kriyā hi svabhāvād eva kriyāṃtaravyavadhānam aṃtareṇa dra
vyaiḥ saṃyujyate ya anye tu smān mātāpitṛviṣaye pravartate vatiṣṭate vā tasmān mātāpitṛsaṃbaṃdhīdaṃ smaraṇam iti kriyākārakabhāvapūrvaka
evāyam api saṃbaṃdha iti varṇayaṃti
aśrute tu kriyāpade dvayī gatiḥ kvacit saṃbaṃdhisvarūpamahimnaiva kriyākṣepasiddheḥ pratiniyatakriyākā
rakabhāvapūrvakatvaṃ śeṣasaṃbaṃdhasya vinaiva karmapravacanīyam avagamyate tad yathā upagor apatyaṃ vṛkṣasya śākhetyādāv apatyāpatyavatsaṃbaṃdho
nāsti sāmarthyaṃ tad yathā rājaḥ puruṣa ity atra svasvāmibhāvo bharaṇādyanekakriyānimitta ity evāvagamyate
tannimittabhūtaḥ tathā ca bhāṣyaṃ yad etat svaṃ nāma tac caturbhiḥ prakārair bhavati bharaṇād apaharaṇāt krayaṇād yācñayeti dānādīnāṃ tv anyata
māvinābhāvāt kriyā numīyata eva kvacit tv avinābhāvinī kriyāpi na pratīyate
taviśiṣṭakriyākṛtatvasaṃbaṃdhasya viśeṣam avagamayati
de saṃbaṃdho jāyate kvacit_
kriyājanitatvaṃ tathā hi
yataniśamanakriyājanita ity anumā vedyate
tāyās tadanumānasyaucityāt tatra kriyāvacanatvam asyānya duṣṭaśaktanā kalpyaṃ
dyotyārthaniṣṭaṃ va dyotakatvam iti tad api kriyāpadāpra¦
yogād atra nāsti
kārakavibhaktir hy atra prādeśam iti dvitīyeti yuktas tatsamuccitakriyākṣepaḥ iha tu saṃhitām iti śaiṣikīyaṃ vibhaktir iti kathaṃ kriyā
kṣepaḥ kriyākārakayor eva parasparam ākṣepyākṣepakabhāvasyāvinābhāvena nyāyyatvāt_ tad yathā
citvam atrānoḥ vibhaktyaiva tadabhidhānād iti saṃbaṃdhāvachedasya pratyāyako nānyaḥ saṃbhavatīti pāriśeṣyād anor atra sāmarthyām adhyavasī
yate
ayam atra bhāvaḥ yad ananyathāsiddhaṃ tatrānor vyāpārakalpanā muktā yat punar anyathārthasāmarthyādinā sidhyati na tatra tasya śaktiḥ kalpayituṃ
pāryate iti padāṃtarāṇām arthāṃtaraniveśāt saṃbaṃdhaviśeṣasya tato navagatasya karmapravacanīyaviṣayatā siddhā nanu ca yad atrādhikyaṃ vā
kyārthaḥ sadatikriyāviśeṣajanitatvalakṣaṇaḥ saṃbaṃdhasyāvachedo vākyārthaḥ kim iti na kathyate anos tu paścāt_

trāpadārtho vākyārthaḥ śakyate kalpayitum iti karmapravacanīyavipraya evāyaṃ
pravacanīyena saṃbaṃdho vichidyate kriyāviśeṣajanitatvena veti tatra svarūpeṇāvacchede viśiṣṭakriyājanitatvapratītiḥ saṃbaṃdhiviśe
ṣaparyālocanālabhyā tathā hi adhibrahmadatte paṃcālā iti svasvāmibhāvo yaṃ saṃbaṃdha ity adhinā vedyate brahmadattaś ca svāmīśvara paṃcā
lāś ca janapadaḥ svam iti tayoḥ saṃbaṃdhinoḥ paripālanakarādānādikriyāprabhāvita eva saṃbaṃdho nyāyya ity avagamyate evam abhima
nyur arjunata
yākṛta ity avagamyate itthaṃ ca śākalyasaṃhitām anu prāvarṣad ity atrāpi hetuphalabhāvo nāmāyaṃ saṃbaṃdha ity etāvaty evāyam anur viśrāmya
ti pāṭhaviśeṣarūpatvāt saṃhitāyā niśamanakriyāvagatiḥ śabdaśravaṇena hi devo varṣad iti saṃbaṃdhamahimnā viśiṣṭakriyā
svarūpāvachede pi ca kriyāyāḥ kāryabhūtasaṃbaṃdhāpekṣayātītatvāt karma proktavaṃta ity arthaḥs ta
manvety eva vastutaḥ kriyāphalasyaiva saṃbaṃdhasya prakāśanāt_ yathā tu tatrabhavat_bhartṛhares tatra tatrābhiprāyo lakṣyate tathā nimitaviśeṣā
vacheda eva karmapravacanīyakṛta iti rāddhāṃtaḥ adhibrahmadatte paṃcālā iti paripālanakriyāhiṃtatvaṃ svasvāmibhāvasyādhinā vyajyate
abhimanyur arjunataḥ pratīty atra parājayādikṛto nukāryānukaraṇabhāvaḥ pratinā prakāśyata ityādi sarvatra yojyaṃ
stutam ityādau tu suḥ pūjāyām ati itikramaṇe cetyādinā karmapravacanīyasaṃjñādhikārikī svārthanirapekṣaivopasargasaṃjñābādhanāya
pravartate yathoktaṃ karmapravacanīyatvaṃ kriyāyoge vidhīyate
vibhāvo prastute kriyāviśeṣāvadyotakatvād upasargapade svatyādir aṃtarbhavatīti nāvyā
ddhārārthaviśeṣāśrayeṇa yathāsaṃbhavaṃ bhedo niraṃśakavākyavyutpatyupāyabhū
stre saṃketitā
tad itthaṃ padāpoddhāre pradarśite tadarthasyāpoddhṛtasya siddhasādhyarūpadvayayogino matabhedena svarūpena darśanārtham āha
arthadvāreṇa padaṃ parīkṣyata iti darśanabhedenam atha
apoddhārapadārthavicāraḥ
vyavādimate tu dravyam eva na jātiḥ dvitīyena vāśabdena padārthāṃtaraṃ sūcitaṃ jātiviśiyad avyābhidhānam iti ata eva tad eva saṃkalanā
rūpaṃ padārthāv iti sphuṭīkṛtamdyate
nam tāvad dvayor api samānam viramya vyāpārābhāvāc chabdasya vārthas tu jātidravyayor guṇapradhānabhāvaḥ yad vā prādhādhānyenaiva bhinnaviṣayata
yā pāṇinidarśane jātidravye śabdenābhidhī
niyatakriyāviṣayasādhanaikārthasamavetasaṃkhyājātiviśeṣanabhāvam āpannā abhidheyā anāśrayāyā jāter anupapatteḥ sāmarthyāt pratītaṃ dravyam
evam ākhyātapadasyāpi vibhinnakriyākṣaṇasamavetābhinnābhidhānapratyayahetukriyājātiviṣayā sākṣād vācakaśaktiḥ kārakā
rthasamavāyāt sādhanaśaktidvāreṇa kriyāyogam anubhavati saṃkhyājātir apy ekārthasamavāyāt svavyaktyātmanā
m etīti sarvapadārthasamanvayopapattau kalpate vākyārthaḥ

tvam upapadyate
upasargādir apy atra darśane nāmākhyātasahabhāvī tad arthasya viśeṣāvadyotakatvāj jātipadārtha eva viśeṣasya viśiṣṭa
viśrāntasyaivāvasāyāt karmapravacanīyo 'pi saṃbandhajātiniṣṭha eva guṇaśabdānām api śuklādīnāṃ guṇajātir vācyā saṃjñāśabdānām
api ḍitthādiśabdānāṃ jātivācitvaṃ samarthayiṣyate
tad itthaṃ vājapyāyanācāryamatena sārvatrikī
jātipadārthavyavasthopapadyate vyā
ḍimate tu sarvaśabdānāṃ
dravyam arthaḥ tasyaiva sākṣāt kriyāsamanvayopapatter vākyārthāṅgatayā codanāviṣayatvāt
syāraṃbhād iti ekabrahmasattājātisamanvayavaśena cātra
saṃketopapattiḥ anabhidhīyamānāpi jātir upalakṣaṇākriyate śabdārthe
papatteḥ kriyā tu guṇabhūtātra vyāpārāviṣṭaṃ hi dravyam ākhyātārthaḥ idaṃ tad iti sarvanāmapratyavamarśayogyaṃ cātra dravyam iti sārvatri
kīyaṃ vyavasthā tathā ca vakṣyati
dupādhivyavacchinnaṃ vā brahma dravyaśabdavācyaṃ sarvaśabdānāṃ viṣaya iti vakṣyata eva vyaktiparyāyo vā dravyaśabda iti jātivyakti
vikalpena sarvaśabdaviṣayaḥ tathā ca sarvaśabdānām ity abhidhānāt padād apy apoddhāre prakṛtipratyayarūpasyāpi śabdasya yathā
yogaṃ kriyākārakasaṃkhyādir apoddhārapadārtho jātivyaktibhedena samāmnātaḥ ubhayasyāpi vā śabdāt pratīter ubhayaṃ padārthaḥ
vabhedāśra
tyatvaṃ pravāhanityatayā śabdāt sadaiva pratīteḥ
tad evam etad anaṃtarakāṃḍe darśanadvayam upapāditam iti yathāsaṃbhavaṃ pratinidhiś ca ciṃtitaḥ idānīṃ jātau śabdenābhidhā
yamānāyāṃ tatra jātyaṃtarābhāvān nirnimittā śabdasya pravṛttir āyatety āśaṃkyopapādayitum āha
svā trasādhāraṇā ātmīyā gośabdatvādikā na tu śakalaśabdasādhāraṇī śabdatvādiḥ evaṃ cāsādhā
raṇatvena viśeṣaṇāt tayā saṃvaṃdhāvyabhicāra śabdasyārthajātyā saṃvaṃdhavyabhicāraḥ śabdasyārthajātyā saṃvaṃdhavyabhicāre pīti svā jā
tir eva mukhyam abhidheyam ity uktaṃ bhavati tathā ca vākyakāraḥ na vā śabdapūrvako hy arthe saṃpratyaya iti ata evāvyabhicāriṇyā svarūpajā
ter arthajātyabhidhāne śabdasya nāṃtarīyakam abhidhānam iti prathamam ity āha yadabhedena yatpratipattiḥ tad avaśyaṃ tatra pratipattavyam i
ty etāvatātra prāthamyaṃ na tu krameṇābhidhānaṃ yad vā saṃvaṃdhavyutpattikālāpekṣaṃ prāthamyaṃ tathā hi saṃvaṃdhavyutpattikāle rthajātyā nā
dhāt saṃjñā rūpapadārthikety uktaṃ rūpaṃ hi svarūpaṃ svājātir vā darśanabhedena kathyate sarvair iti svarūpaparair arthadyaraiś ca tasyā eva svarūpa
tayā vyavahārāchabdasvarūpeṇāvasthitā jātiḥ pratipadyate arthasya
māśrayeṇa tataḥ svajātipratyāyanād anaṃtaraṃ arthajātīnāṃ gotvādīnām ātmasu tasyāḥ śabdajāte | samāropasya kalpanā na paramārthaḥ śa
bdavivartatenārthasya śabdāt tatvato bhedābhāvāt_
yad vā saṃvaṃdhavyutpatikāle gaur ayam artha ity arthajātyā śabdajāter atyaṃtabhedāt sāmānā
dhikaraṇyānyathānupapattyā'bhedādhyāropaḥ kalpyate yathā gaur vāhīka iti anyathā saṃketasyaiva kartum aśakyatvāt_ yathā cāyam anā
dir apauruṣeyo vācyavācakabhāvaḥ tathādhyāropo pi anyathā vācyavācakabhāva eva na ghaṭeta yathau vauddhasya dṛśyavikalpārthaikīkā
ro bhedānadhyavasāyalakṣaṇaḥ nanu yathā gaur vāhīka ity atra puruṣechayā dhyāropaḥ vyavahāre śabdārthayoḥ sadaivābhedāvasāyāt katha
m iyaṃ prativarṇaṃm anabhivyaktā sādhāraṇī jātir asamasamayabhāvavibhir varṇer abhivyajyate iti cet_ yathotkṣepaṇatvādijātir iti
t_ sārūpyavaśād anavadhāvaryamāṇabheda ekaiko samartho niyatajātyabhivyaṃjana iti kṣaṇāṃtaram apekṣate na ca tasya bhramaṇakṣaṇāt_
d viśeṣo nās upakrama evokṣipāmīty evaṃ prayatnajanitatvāt_ evaṃ gośabdam uccārayāmīty ayaṃ prayatno yady api gānagaganaśabdajanakā
t prayatnād anya eva hetubhedāc ca gakārayor api bheda eva tathāpi sādṛśyād asau duravadhāra iti vyaṃjako pi san_ prathamo dhvanir asphuṭam abhivyana
ktīty āvartamāno pi na viśadatarasāmānyaviśeṣābhivyaktau hetuḥ ya
ṣopādhiyuktā vyavahārā avatiṣṭhaṃte tadānīṃ sāhacaryāt parasparāvachedavaśena vilakṣaṇatayā pratibhāsanāt_ yathā ca ślokaḥ sakṛt pavya
māno nāvadhāryate abhyāsena tu sphuṭāvabhāsaḥ tathā caramatvena sicakāsti ratnatatvava sphoṭatatva prathamākṣareṇa hi jāter ābhāsamātraṃ janya
te taduttarottaravarṇakalāpena tu sphuṭatarasphuṭatamaparichedādhāna saṃskāraviśeṣotpādanadvāreṇābhivyativiśeṣasya ratnamatvādau dṛ
me tasmāchabdād arthaṃ pratipadyāmaha iti vyavahārād varṇānām arthāvasāyajanakatvānupapateḥ prakriyābhaṃgasya prathamakāṃḍa eva vihitatvā
sakhacitavapur vyavavahāryo rthaḥ tatra ca svarūpasya vācyatā prathamakāṃḍa eva nirṇītā iha tu saṃvaṃdhasamuddeśe pi nirṇeṣyate
sarvaśabdaviṣayatvam evābhi

sarvabhāveṣu sadrūpaṃ sāmānyam anugataṃ abhāva¦
syāpi bud_dhyākāreṇa nirūpaṇāt_ mahāsattayā'nayāviyogāt_ prātipadikamātravācyā sattā
bhir api sādhanādhīnalabdhajanmasu kriyāvyaktiṣu samavetā yathopādhyupagṛhītanānātvā sattaivābhidheyakam āpadyate siddhasādhyarū
dyupādhiviśiṣṭā sattaivābhidhāyate sā caudayavyayarahitatvān nityā satpratyayasya sarvadānuvṛtteḥ
ete sattāmātrasyātmano mahataḥ ṣa
bh diśeṣapariṇāmāḥ yataḥ paraṃ viśeṣebhyo liṃgamātraṃ mahattatvaṃ tasminn ete sattāmātre mahaty ātmany avasthāya vivṛddhikāṣṭhām anubhavaṃti
pratisaṃsṛjyamānāś ca tasmiṃś ca sa
khye buddhitatvaṃ
ti sattārūpaṃ sarvajagadākhyātaṃ bhavatīti sattādvaitavādaḥ sāṃkhyanayenābhyupavṛṃhitaḥ evaṃ ca sarvaśabdavācyā sattā śabdapravṛttinimittabhū
teti yathāyathaṃ bhinnopādhibhāvapratyayābhidheyā saiva
yā bhedāt_ prātipadikena gavāśrayāyās tasyā abhidhānaṃ pratyayena tu niṣkṛṣṭāśrayasya sāmānyasyābhidhety adoṣaḥ prakṛtyarthanimitta
