It is designated as "D" in Subramania Iyer's edition. It extends from the beginning of the Jātisamuddeśa to the end of the Kriyāsamuddeśa. In the manuscript, "va" and "ba" are not distinguished, and "ī" is often mistaken as "ā". The consonant cluster "dbha" is often written as "bhda". This manuscript is very closely correlated with the manuscript from the Asiatic Society of Bengal (K); in fact, in one place, it omits one full line from K, which may indicate that this manuscript was copied directly from K. However, it also has some readings which are more correct than K, namely "vākyapadīye" where K has "vokyapadīye". atrocyate ihādhikyaṃ vākyārthatvenocyamānaṃ padārthapṛṣṭapātitvenaivānusaraṇīyaṃ na tu padārthollaṃghanema tattadvākyopāttasya hi sādhyasya vā viśeṣyasya vopāttair eva sādhanair viśeṣaṇaiś ca saṃsargas tatrādhikyaṃ tad yathā gāṃ śuklām ānaya nīlotpalam iti ca ata evocyate āśrayāśrayiṇor vākyān niyamas tv avatiṣṭate iti iyaṃ cānupāttasyaiva padārthasya vākyārthāt pratītir nāstīti na saṃbaṃdhāvachedo trāpadārtho vākyārthaḥ śakyate kalpayitum iti karmapravacanīyavipraya evāyaṃ yad vakṣyati nimittaniyamaḥ śabdāt saṃbaṃdhasya na gṛhyate karmapravacanīyena saṃbaṃdho vichidyate kriyāviśeṣajanitatvena veti tatra svarūpeṇāvacchede viśiṣṭakriyājanitatvapratītiḥ saṃbaṃdhiviśeṣaparyālocanālabhyā tathā hi adhibrahmadatte paṃcālā iti svasvāmibhāvo yaṃ saṃbaṃdha ity adhinā vedyate brahmadattaś ca svāmīśvara paṃcālāś ca janapadaḥ svam iti tayoḥ saṃbaṃdhinoḥ paripālanakarādānādikriyāprabhāvita eva saṃbaṃdho nyāyya ity avagamyate evam abhimanyur arjunata atīti pratinā sādṛśyakakṣaṇo yaṃ saṃbaṃdha iti dyotyate sa punaḥ saṃbaṃdhisvarūpaparyālocanād atra saṃpraharaṇādikri¦yākṛta ity avagamyate itthaṃ ca śākalyasaṃhitām anu prāvarṣad ity atrāpi hetuphalabhāvo nāmāyaṃ saṃbaṃdha ity etāvaty evāyam anur viśrāmyati pāṭhaviśeṣarūpatvāt saṃhitāyā niśamanakriyāvagatiḥ śabdaśravaṇena hi devo varṣad iti saṃbaṃdhamahimnā viśiṣṭakriyāprabhāvitatvam avasīyate kecid iyān anor eva vyāpāra ity āhuḥ

svarūpāvachede pi ca kriyāyāḥ kāryabhūtasaṃbaṃdhāpekṣayātītatvāt karma proktavaṃta ity arthaḥs tamanvety eva vastutaḥ kriyāphalasyaiva saṃbaṃdhasya prakāśanāt_ yathā tu tatrabhavat_bhartṛhares tatra tatrābhiprāyo lakṣyate tathā nimitaviśeṣāvacheda eva karmapravacanīyakṛta iti rāddhāṃtaḥ adhibrahmadatte paṃcālā iti paripālanakriyāhiṃtatvaṃ svasvāmibhāvasyādhinā vyajyate abhimanyur arjunataḥ pratīty atra parājayādikṛto nukāryānukaraṇabhāvaḥ pratinā arjunaprakāśyata ityādi sarvatra yojyaṃ sustutam atistutam ityādau tu suḥ pūjāyām ati itikramaṇe cetyādinā karmapravacanīyasaṃjñādhikārikī svārthanirapekṣaivopasargasaṃjñābādhanāya pravartate yathoktaṃ karmapravacanīyatvaṃ kriyāyoge vidhīyate ṣatvādivinivṛtyarthaṃ svatyādīnāṃ hi dharmiṇām iti artho na tu rūpeṇa vibhāvo prastute kriyāviśeṣāvadyotakatvād upasargapade svatyādir aṃtarbhavatīti nāvyāptiḥ tad evaṃ vākyād apoddhriyamāṇasya padasyāpoddhārārthaviśeṣāśrayeṇa yathāsaṃbhavaṃ bhedo niraṃśakavākyavyutpatyupāyabhūtaḥ pradarśitaḥ ata eva svādipadaṃ vākyavyutpatyanaṃgatvāchāstre saṃketitā sṛtaṃ padavyutpatyupāyabhūtaṃ neha gaṇanārhaṃ prakṛtipratyayavad iti dṛṣṭāṃtapakṣanikṣiptam iti nāvyāptiḥ padāt kilāsāv apoddhāro na vākyāt_

tad itthaṃ padāpoddhāre pradarśite tadarthasyāpoddhṛtasya siddhasādhyarūpadvayayogino matabhedena svarūpena darśanārtham āha

padārthānām apoddhāro jātir vā dravyam eva vā padārthau sarvaśabdānāṃ nityāv evopavarṇitau ||

tad itthaṃ vājapyāyanācāryamatena sārvatrikī jātipadārthavyavasthopapadyate vyāḍimate tu sarvaśabdānāṃ dravyam arthaḥ tasyaiva sākṣāt kriyāsamanvayopapatter vākyārthāṅgatayā codanāviṣayatvātyathāhacodanāsu ca tasyāraṃbhād iti ekabrahmasattājātisamanvayavaśena cātra saṃketopapattiḥ anabhidhīyamānāpi jātir upalakṣaṇākriyate śabdārtheyathā gṛhādau kākādiḥākhyāte 'pi ca sādhanādhāradravyaprādhānyaṃ vyāḍimate devadattaḥ pacatīti dravyeṇaiva sākṣāt sāmānādhikaraṇyopapatteḥ kriyā tu guṇabhūtātra vyāpārāviṣṭaṃ hi dravyam ākhyātārthaḥ idaṃ tad iti sarvanāmapratyavamarśayogyaṃ cātra dravyam iti sārvatrikīyaṃ vyavasthā tathā ca vakṣyatidravyadharmā padārthe tu dravye sarvo 'rtha ucyate itiata eva śuklādīnām api dravyapadārthatā sirddhātattadupādhivyavacchinnaṃ vā brahma dravyaśabdavācyaṃ sarvaśabdānāṃ viṣaya iti vakṣyata eva vyaktiparyāyo vā dravyaśabda iti jātivyaktivikalpena sarvaśabdaviṣayaḥ tathā ca sarvaśabdānām ity abhidhānāt padād apy apoddhāre prakṛtipratyayarūpasyāpi śabdasya yathāyogaṃ kriyākārakasaṃkhyādir apoddhārapadārtho jātivyaktibhedena samāmnātaḥ ubhayasyāpi vā śabdāt pratīter ubhayaṃ padārthaḥguṇapradhānabhāvabhedāśra yas tu matavikalpaḥ nityatvopavarṇanaṃ ‘ca siddhe ārthasaṃbandha ity atra bhāṣye yasmiṃs tattvaṃ na vihanyate iti dravyasyāpi nityatvaṃ pravāhanityatayā śabdāt sadaiva pratīteḥ

tad evam etad anaṃtarakāṃḍe darśanadvayam upapāditam iti yathāsaṃbhavaṃ pratinidhiś ca ciṃtitaḥ idānīṃ jātau śabdenābhidhāyamānāyāṃ tatra jātyaṃtarābhāvān nirnimittā śabdasya pravṛttir āyatety āśaṃkyopapādayitum āha

svā jātiḥ prathamaṃ śabdaiḥ sarver evābhidhīyate tato rthajātirūpeṣu tadadhyāropakalpanā

svā trasādhāraṇā ātmīyā gośabdatvādikā na tu śakalaśabdasādhāraṇī śabdatvādiḥ evaṃ cāsādhāraṇatvena viśeṣaṇāt tayā saṃvaṃdhāvyabhicāra śabdasyārthajātyā saṃvaṃdhavyabhicāraḥ śabdasyārthajātyā saṃvaṃdhavyabhicāre pīti svā jātir eva mukhyam abhidheyam ity uktaṃ bhavati tathā ca vākyakāraḥ na vā śabdapūrvako hy arthe saṃpratyaya iti ata evāvyabhicāriṇyā svarūpajāter arthajātyabhidhāne śabdasya nāṃtarīyakam abhidhānam iti prathamam ity āha yadabhedena yatpratipattiḥ tad avaśyaṃ tatra pratipattavyam ity etāvatātra prāthamyaṃ na tu krameṇābhidhānaṃ yad vā saṃvaṃdhavyutpattikālāpekṣaṃ prāthamyaṃ tathā hi saṃvaṃdhavyutpattikāle rthajātyā nāsti saṃvaṃdhaḥ tathātve vācakatvena tatra viniyogo narthakaḥ syāt_ arthasya pratipannatvād vibhaktiyogo na syād iti prāk saṃjñinābhisaṃvaṃdhāt saṃjñā rūpapadārthikety uktaṃ rūpaṃ hi svarūpaṃ svājātir vā darśanabhedena kathyate sarvair iti svarūpaparair arthadyaraiś ca tasyā eva svarūpatayā vyavahārāchabdasvarūpeṇāvasthitā jātiḥ pratipadyate arthasya jhaṭity eva śabdasvarūpābhedenāvavodhe pi yathāpratipāditakramāśrayeṇa tataḥ svajātipratyāyanād anaṃtaraṃ arthajātīnāṃ gotvādīnām ātmasu tasyāḥ śabdajāte | samāropasya kalpanā na paramārthaḥ śabdavivartatenārthasya śabdāt tatvato bhedābhāvāt_

yad vā saṃvaṃdhavyutpatikāle gaur ayam artha ity arthajātyā śabdajāter atyaṃtabhedāt sāmānādhikaraṇyānyathānupapattyā'bhedādhyāropaḥ kalpyate yathā gaur vāhīka iti anyathā saṃketasyaiva kartum aśakyatvāt_ yathā cāyam anādir apauruṣeyo vācyavācakabhāvaḥ tathādhyāropo pi anyathā vācyavācakabhāva eva na ghaṭeta yathau vauddhasya dṛśyavikalpārthaikīkāro bhedānadhyavasāyalakṣaṇaḥ nanu yathā gaur vāhīka ity atra puruṣechayā dhyāropaḥ vyavahāre śabdārthayoḥ sadaivābhedāvasāyāt katham iyaṃ prativarṇaṃm anabhivyaktā sādhāraṇī jātir asamasamayabhāvavibhir varṇer abhivyajyate iti cet_ yathotkṣepaṇatvādijātir iti vrūmaḥ tathā hi pratyekaṃ karmakṣaṇānām upavyaṃjakatve pi ya prathama utkṣepaṇakṣaṇaḥ sa paramāṇumātradeśākramaṇamātrarūpatvāt_ bhramaṇakṣaṇāt_ sārūpyavaśād anavadhāvaryamāṇabheda ekaiko samartho niyatajātyabhivyaṃjana iti kṣaṇāṃtaram apekṣate na ca tasya bhramaṇakṣaṇāt_ d viśeṣo nās upakrama evokṣipāmīty evaṃ prayatnajanitatvāt_ evaṃ gośabdam uccārayāmīty ayaṃ prayatno yady api gānagaganaśabdajanakāt prayatnād anya eva hetubhedāc ca gakārayor api bheda eva tathāpi sādṛśyād asau duravadhāra iti vyaṃjako pi san_ prathamo dhvanir asphuṭam abhivyanaktīty āvartamāno pi na viśadatarasāmānyaviśeṣābhivyaktau hetuḥ yatvādā tv aravayavapravaṃdhaḥ krameṇopalabdho bhavati atha śabdajātiviśeṣopādhiyuktā vyavahārā avatiṣṭhaṃte tadānīṃ sāhacaryāt parasparāvachedavaśena vilakṣaṇatayā pratibhāsanāt_ yathā ca ślokaḥ sakṛt pavyamāno nāvadhāryate abhyāsena tu sphuṭāvabhāsaḥ tathā caramatvena sicakāsti ratnatatvava sphoṭatatva prathamākṣareṇa hi jāter ābhāsamātraṃ janyate taduttarottaravarṇakalāpena tu sphuṭatarasphuṭatamaparichedādhāna saṃskāraviśeṣotpādanadvāreṇābhivyativiśeṣasya ratnamatvādau dṛme tasmāchabdād arthaṃ pratipadyāmaha iti vyavahārād varṇānām arthāvasāyajanakatvānupapateḥ prakriyābhaṃgasya prathamakāṃḍa eva vihitatvān niravayavaṃ pratyāyakaṃ śabdatatvaṃ jātivyaktibhedena bhinnaṃ sphoṭasvabhāvam evāṃgīkāryaṃ gaur ayam artha iti ca vācakābhedena vācyapratīteḥ tadadhyāsakhacitavapur vyavavahāryo rthaḥ tatra ca svarūpasya vācyatā prathamakāṃḍa eva nirṇītā iha tu saṃvaṃdhasamuddeśe pi nirṇeṣyate

sarvaśabdaviṣayatvam evābhivyanakti

tāṃ prātipadikārthaṃ ca dhātvarthaṃ ca pracakṣate sā nityā sā mahān ātmā tām āhus tvatalādayaḥ

sarvabhāveṣu sadrūpaṃ sāmānyam anugataṃ abhāva¦syāpi bud_dhyākāreṇa nirūpaṇāt_ mahāsattayā'nayāviyogāt_ prātipadikamātravācyā sattā tad uktaṃ prātipadikārthaḥ satteti dhātubhir api sādhanādhīnalabdhajanmasu kriyāvyaktiṣu samavetā yathopādhyupagṛhītanānātvā sattaivābhidheyakam āpadyate siddhasādhyarūpārthadvayātmanā ca tasyā eva vyāvṛttes tadaparaṇayabhāvāt_ sarvaśabdaviṣayatvaṃ sattāyāḥ pratyayabhāgenāpy atra yathāyathaṃ saṃkhyākārakādyupādhiviśiṣṭā sattaivābhidhāyate sā caudayavyayarahitatvān nityā satpratyayasya sarvadānuvṛtteḥ

ete sattāmātrasyātmano mahataḥ ṣabh diśeṣapariṇāmāḥ yataḥ paraṃ viśeṣebhyo liṃgamātraṃ mahattatvaṃ tasminn ete sattāmātre mahaty ātmany avasthāya vivṛddhikāṣṭhām anubhavaṃti pratisaṃsṛjyamānāś ca tasmiṃś ca samātre mahaty ātmany avasthāya yat tan niḥsattāsattaṃ niḥsadasad avyaktam aliṃgaṃ tasmin pratiyaṃtīty evaṃ sāṃkhye buddhitatvaṃ mahachabdavācyam ādyaṃ jagatkāraṇaṃ nirdiṣṭam ity ato naṃtarasya vikāragrāmasya kāraṇarūpānugamāt sattārūpatvam aviruddham iti sattārūpaṃ sarvajagadākhyātaṃ bhavatīti sattādvaitavādaḥ sāṃkhyanayenābhyupavṛṃhitaḥ evaṃ ca sarvaśabdavācyā sattā śabdapravṛttinimittabhūteti yathāyathaṃ bhinnopādhibhāvapratyayābhidheyā saiva nanv evaṃ gotvam iti prakṛtipratyayayor ekārthatāprasaṃgaḥ naitat | upādhibhedena sattāyā bhedāt_ prātipadikena gavāśrayāyās tasyā abhidhānaṃ pratyayena tu niṣkṛṣṭāśrayasya sāmānyasyābhidhety adoṣaḥ prakṛtyarthanimittaś ca bhāvapratyayabheda iti na sāṃkaryaprasaṃgaḥ
