It formed part of the library of the Mahārāja of Alwar, which was catalogued by Peter Peterson in the late 19th century. As Peterson notes, the collection originated with Banni Singh (Peterson 1884, 3), who ruled Alwar in the first half of the 19th century. The manuscript extends from the beginning of the Jātisamuddeśa until near the end of the commentary on the Kriyāsamuddeśa, breaking off just a few sentences before the end. The manuscript does not seem to be complete. There are a few peculiarities to this scribal hand – ma is often written as nya, and as śa. These have been noted with the <g> tag. rucakakuṃḍalādyākāraviśeṣopādhīyamānarūpābhedam api suvarṇam ity eva sarvatropādhirūpaṃ satyam ity upādhibhiḥ ākāraviśeṣais tatsādhyārthakriyākaraṇān na tatraiva rucakādiśabdāḥ kṛtapadasaṃbaṃdhāḥ kiṃ tu datiricyamānam arthavastv abhidhāyakatvena samāviśaṃti tadvat prakṛtisaṃbaṃdhād āropāhitanānātvam api paratatvaṃ śabdagocara ity arthaḥ tatra cāpāyibhir iti hetunirdeśaḥ śākyasamakakṣyatayā kṛtaḥ tataś copādhīnām avācyatvam asatyatvaṃ ca sidhyati asatyatvād ecārthakriyākaraṇāt tadarthaṃ ca śabdavyavahād avācyatvaṃ teṣām ity arthaḥ

ghaṭākāropadhānapuraḥsaraṃ ghaṭaśabdena brahmadravyam abhimukhīkriyate paṭākāropadhānena tu paṭhaśabdenetyādy upādhirūpopahitavivekitvam abhidhānīyaṃ tad yathā nāḍikāśuyi_ivartmanihitanayanās tadavakāśāvasthitam evārthabhāgaṃ paśyaṃti tathāvidyāvacchinnapṛthak_śaktibhir ākāramedair eva vastūpalakṣyate tathaiva ca yathādhyavasāyaṃ śabdaniveśāchabdair abhidhīyata ity arthaḥ

ye tarhy ākāramātranirdeśataḥ saṃtiveśādiśabdāḥ te dharmatram abhidadhyuḥ iti sārvatrikī dravyapadārthavyavasthā viśīryetety āśaṃkyāha ||

|| teṣv ākāreṣu yaḥ śabdas tathābhūteṣu vartate tatvātmakatvāt tenāpi nityem evābhidhīyate

|| upādhimātraśvabhāveṣv api saṃniveśādyākāreṣu saṃniveśādiśabdā vartabhānāḥ paparamārthatas tatvād avyatirekād upādhīnāṃ tanniṣkarṣe svarūpasyāsvarūpatvād ātmanaiva satvā tad eva nityam upādhimallīnatā tadā dravyam evam apy abhidhāne bhihitaṃ bhavati tatvam ā¦tmā hy upādhīnāṃ na tu kevalasyātmāna iti vyāpakatvāt sarva evopādhayas tadātmanā saṃtas tathaivābhidhīyaṃte yadā hy upādhimallīnatā tadopādheya upādhayo na bhavaṃti tatas tu niṣkarṣe dharmāṃtarāśrayatayā svātaṃtryād upādhimatvam eva nopādhitvam ity āśayaḥ

yady evaṃ dharmāṇām avasthāṃtare dharmirūpatvān nityatve satyatve cākārāṇām asatyatvaṃ dravyasya tu satyatvam ity etasya niyamasyānupapattir ity āśaṃkyāha ||

|| na tatvātatvayor bheda iti vṛddhebhya āgamaḥ atatvam iti manyaṃte tatvam evā'vicāritaṃ

ayam atrārthaḥ nehādvaitanaye satyāsatye dve rūpe staḥ advaitahāniprasaṃgāt_ kiṃ tu pāramārthikam ekam evādvayaṃ tac cānādisiddhāvidyāvilasitasahapramāpramātaviṣayatayā yathātatvam anavabhāsamānam anekavikalpaparighaṭitākārarūpatayā vyavahāram avatarati tathā ca tad evākāranānātvonnīyamānasvarūpabhedaṃ cakāsti nānyat_ tadvyatiriktasyānyasyābhāvāt_

tatra cayor ya prakāśaḥ sa vidhā aprakāśas tu tamo vidhā na ca prakāśābhāvo prakāṃśe vichedo vidyā tatra ca vinānya kaścit pramāṇasiddho nirūpya tataś ca yo yaṃ bhedaprakāśaḥ saivaikaghanaprakāśābhāvaḥ prakāśavichedo vidyā tatra ca vichinnācayo vachedo vadhāryate iti vichinnaprakāśaḥ satyo vidyaiva vichedamātraṃ tv apradhānasvabhāvaṃ na kiṃcid avidyeti paramārthatvavicāre kiṃcid atattvaṃ vyavatiṣṭate tatvam eva yathāpratibhāsaṃ bhedena cakāsad avicāritaramaṇīyaṃ prapaṃco tatvam iti vyavahriyata iti brahmavidaḥ tathā cāvicāritaramaṇīyaṃ parokṣyayā vyavasthitaṃ tatvam evābhinnaṃ tīrthikā bhedadarśanavyavasthitā bhedātmakam atatvaṃ manyaṃta iti vicāreṇa vidyāvilaye brahmaikaniṣṭatād adarśanaṃ tad uktaṃ satyā viśuddhisūtroktā vidyaivityādi

evaṃ tena tena rūpeṇa vatyaiva vikalpitaṃ bhavatīti sarvavidyānāṃ tadupādhimukhaṃ tad eva viṣayaḥ siddha ity āha ||

vikalparūpa bhajate tatvam evāvikalpitaṃ na cātra kālabhedo sti kālabhedaś ca gṛhyate

paramārthato vikalpitaṃ vikalpānām aviṣayo yat tattvaṃ tad eva vyavahāre nyasyābhāvād vikalpamānaṃ vikalparūpaṃ nānāvidhabhedāvabhāsamānādisiddhāvidyāvaśāt samavalaṃbate jīvātmabhedenāvatiṣṭamānaṃ ta atatveneti mūrttivivarttān mayarik_śaktivibhaktadeśanānātvaṃ nimittapaurvāparyāvalaṃbanasahaṃ || evam akālakalitam api tatvam anādinidhanaṃ kālākhyasvataṃtraśaktiviniveśitapratibaṃdhābhyanujñācaśāj janmādibhāvavikābhidhīyamānapaurvāparyaṃ cakāstīty arthaḥ

na ca vidyamānasya tatve pratibhānam ayuktam ity āśaṃkya dṛṣṭāṃtenopapādayati

tathā viṣayadharmāṇāṃ jñāne lyaṃtam asuṃbhavaḥ tadātmeva ca tat siddham atyaṃtam atadātmakaṃ ||

vijñānavāde viṣayākārasya tāvato satyatvān nīlādis tahuto dharmo jaḍo jaḍe jñāne saṃbhavo 'tyaṃtam iti jaḍājaḍayor na vyenacid aṃśena sārūpyam ity āha || tathā coktaṃ ekadeśena sārūpye sarvaṃ syāt sarvavedanaṃ sarvātmanā tu sārūpye jñānam ajñānatāṃ vrated iti

athaṃvā saṃbhavidharmākṣuritaṃ vijñānaṃ viśuddhabodhasvabhāvam apy anujñāyā vyavahāre vabhāsata iti itthaṃ nidarśanāṃtaram āha ||

tathāpi kārarūpāṇāṃ tatve tyaṃtam asaṃbhavaḥ tadātmeva ca ttat tatvam atyaṃtam atatadātmakaṃ

sāṃkhyāvikṛtaṃ pradhānatatvaṃ sarvavikāragraṃthi bījāvastham abhinnam anupasṛṣṭam eva mahadādivikārarūpaiḥ pararthataḥ tad dhi mahadādivikāraśaktiyuktaṃ guṇasāmyāvasthātmakaṃ guṇavaiṣamyavimardavaśopajāyamānavikāranānātvād vilakṣaṇam eva ayaṃ ca vyavahāre mahadādivikārarūpāvadhāraṇena pinā tadupalaṃbhāsaṃbhava iti sarvadeśeṣv avidyā ca vinā evam asatyākāro pradhānena tatvapratibhāsaḥ siddha iti sādhyācayo gṛhītaḥ

kathaṃ punar etad avagamyate ākārā asatyās tato nyat satyam ity āha ||

satyam āttyatisaṃhāre yad aṃte vyavatiṣṭate tan nityaṃ śabdavācyaṃ tachabdātatvaṃ na bhidyate

tad eva hi tityaṃ yasmis tatvaṃ na vihanyate iti bhāṣyānusāreṇaṃta ucyate tathā hy atroktaṃ kanakam ity eva saṃtya sanar aparayākṛtyā yuktaṃ ravadirāṃgāraḥ suvarṇakuṃḍale bhavaṃta ity anenaiva dṛṣṭāṃtena vikārāpekṣayā bhinnasya brahmaṇa satyatocyate tathā hi || tatra hacakādyākāropamarddena suvarṇam ity eva satyaṃ evam anaṃtavikāragrāmāpāye sarvāṃte vatiṣṭamānam anapāyi brahmarūpaṃ satyaṃ tad eva ca bhāvato nityaṃ āpekṣyaṃ tu jātyādīnā sarvavyavahāre nityatvam ucyate tathā hi vyaktyapāye jātir avatiṣṭamānā gotvādikā nityā tatrāpy aśvatvādibhedatyāge pṛthivīty eva satyaṃ tatrāpy aptvādibhedāpāye castv ity eva satyaṃ sarvanāmapratyāyyāṃ tatrāpi saṃvidrūpasyānapāyino nugad aviṣayākāraviveke tad eva pāramārthikaṃ satyakṣiti neti nety upāsīteti bhāvanayā codyate saṃvic ca paśyaṃtīrūpā parā vāk_ śabdabrahmamayīti brahmatatvaṃ śabdāt pāramārthikān na bhidyate virvarttadaśāyāṃ tu vaikharyātmanā bhedaḥ tatra ca tad eva nityaṃ jātyādirūpeṇa śabdavācyaṃ tatrāṃtare pādānaviśrāṃtyā vācakatvasya vyavatsthāpanāt svarūpāṃtargatasyārthasya vācyatvād vācyavācakayor avibhāgaḥ siddhaḥ iti prathamakāṃḍe nittaṃ ata evānāṃtaram ihābhidhāsyati tasya śabdārthasaṃbaṃdhaṃ rūpam ekasya dṛśyata iti

yad uktaṃ tadātmeva ca tat tatvam atyaṃtam ajadātmakam iti tatrātyaṃtam adātmakatāṃ tāva¦d vyācaṣṭe

na tad asti na tan nāsti na tatrād ekaṃ na tat pṛthak_ na saṃsṛṣṭaṃ vibhaktaṃ na vā vikṛtaṃ na ca nānyathā

nāpi saṃsargopādhiṃkaṃ vibhāgopādhikaṃ vā tato dvitīyasya pramāṇenānupapatteḥ kuto bhinnaṃ vibhaktaṃ ca kena vā saṃsṛṣṭaṃ syāt

pariṇāmaniṣedhena vivarttābhyupagamān na vikṛtaṃ anekabhāvagrāmarūpatayā cādbhutayā vṛttyā vivarttanād avikṛtam ityay api na śakyate vyavahartum iti sarvavyapadaṃśātītaṃ tvaṃ paraṃ brahma |

atha ca tadātmaivāvidyāyām avadhāryata ity āha ||

tan nāsti vidyate tac ca tad ekaṃ tat pathak_ pṛthak_ saṃsṛṣṭaṃ ca vibhaktaṃ dha vikṛtaṃ tat tad anyathā

bhāvābhāvavikārāvabhāsatananaśakti tad evāsti ca sattāsattopādhikavyavahāram ahaṃbhāvas tu niḥsattāsattaṃ niḥsadasat paraṃ brahma vyavahārikaṃ caikānekavyavahāraṃ jātivya|ktyātmanā tad eva vartayati saṃkhyopādhikam api ca evaṃ saṃyogopādhikam api anyasaṃsargitayā ca bhaāsanāt_ evaṃ vicekācasāyas tatra tathā samastavikārātmanā tasya mānam ivā¦kāśādyātmanā kūṭasthatayā tad evāvabhāsa iti tadātmaiva tatvam ity uktaṃ

eva ca kṛtvā sarvasya tanmayatvād virodhino pi vyavahārās tatraivopalīyaṃla ity āha ||

tasya śabdārthasaṃbaṃdharūpam ekasya dṛśyate tad dṛśyaṃ darśanaṃ draṣṭā darśane ca prayojanaṃ

vāyyavācakasaṃbaṃdhā bhāvato dvayarūpatā tatra hy āṃtare tatvaśrutyarthaśaktī saṃsṛjyete iti vivartadaśāyāṃ śrutyarthaśākhātmanā tasyaiva vikāsād vācyavācakarūpatayā bhedāvabhāsau | jñānajñeyaivāvidyeti brahmakāṃḍa eva prapaṃcenāyam artho smābhir nerṇota iti tata evāvadhāryaṃ

dathyarūpatayā ca tasyaiva vivartaḥ tathā hi || dṛśyaṃ tāvad bhāvajātaṃ saṃcidrūpārūṭhaṃ vedyamānaṃ vedyatvād eva vedam anekam aparthaprakāśasya prakāśamānatāyogād iti pūrvakāṃḍe dvitīyasiddhau ca vitatya vicāritaṃ draṣṭāpi jīvātmā avidyākṛtāvachedo niyataḥ satvaṃ sārī bhoktā brahmaiva cetanatvād bhāvato bhedānupapatter iti tatraivāveditaṃ anena ca pradhānakartṛkarmarūpakārakaniścayena kārakāṃtarasyāpekṣaṇāt siddharūpo vivarttaḥ pratipāditaḥ

darśanaśabdena ca pradhānakriyānirddeśakaṃ na kripṭāṃtarasyāpekṣāṃt sādhyasvabhāvakriyāvivartau py uktaḥ kālaśaktyavachinnā hi kriyāvivarttaḥ dik_śaktyavachinnasya mūrttivivartta iti mūrttikriyāvivarttarūpaṃ viśvaṃ pratipāditaṃ

prayojanaśabdena ca saṃmatikriyāphala iti nidarśa iti sādhyasādhanaphalarūpatayā viśvasaṃkalānāyān aśeṣavivartānuguṇyaṃ brahmaṇaḥ pratipāditaṃ ekasya saṃrvabījasya¦ ceyam anekabhoktṛbhoktavyarūpeṇa bhogarūpeṇa sthitir iti brahmakāṃḍe pratipāditaṃ tatraiva ca satatvanirṇayo smābhi vyavadhāyi prācyopākhyātmakatvāt_ ca vyavahārasya dvitve śabdārthasaṃbaṃdharūpaṃ ta dṛśyadarśanaṃ ceti bhedenātra nirddeśaḥ etaj jāvidyāmayaṃ rūpaṃ kathyate pāramārthikaṃ tu prakāśītaprapaṃcarūpaṃ vakṣyati yatra draṣṭā ca dṛśyaṃ ta darśanaṃ cāvikalpitaṃ tasyaivārthasya satyatvaṃ śritās trayyetavedina iti

yuktam idaṃ ākṛtisaṃhāre te yad avatiṣṭatte tat satyam iti tatraitat syād atte na kiṃcid avatiṣṭate asaddam apadam evaitad viśvam āvirbhavatīty āśaṃkyāpi hetunā'bhinnakāraṇapūrvakatvam anvayamukhena dṛṣṭāntopakramaṃ sādhayitum āha ||

vikāpagame satyaṃ kṣuvarṇaṃ kuṃḍale yathā vikāpagame saṃtyāṃ tathāhuḥ prakṛtiṃ parāṃ

kuṃḍalasvātmakavikārāpāye dve kuṃḍale suvarṇam ekaṃ satyam avatiṣṭate yathā tathā pṛthivyādivikāravigame cayinī prakṛtir abhinnā saty avatiṣṭata ity upeyaṃ āhuḥr iti āgamapramāṇasiddhatāṃ dhvanayati brahmaṇaḥ tathā coktaṃ ekam eva yad āśrātam iti ātmevedaṃ satyam iti hi śrutiḥ upoddalamātraṃ cānubhānaṃ tathā hi nirūpākhyād asato parāt prādurbhāvo na yuktaḥ abhāvasya bhāvarūpatvavirodhān na hi śaśaśṛṃgāt kasyavid udbhavo pṛśyate asti ca vijñānarūpatayā jagaty acaya iti tatpūrvam evaitat_ tathā ca vakṣyati nābhāvo¦ jāyate bhāvo naikabhāvo nupākhyatam iti tasya cidrūpasya cichaktir apariṇāminīti vikārābhāvān nedaṃ sāṃkhyanayavatpariṇāmadarśanaṃ api tu vivarttapakṣaḥ viśeṣaś cānayor vākyapadīye smābhir vyā¦khyātam iti tata evāvidhāryaṃ ihāpi saṃbaṃdhasamuddeśa vakṣyate | kāraṇāṃtaravyudāsaś cādvayasiddhau abhihita iti saty arthitve tata evāvagaṃtavyaḥ

tad evam ātmaśabdābhidheyasya brahmaṇa padārthaparamārtharūpatvād adravyarūpatvam upapādya sarvaśabdavācyatvaṃ tasyaiva nigamayitum āha ||

vidyā sā sarvaśabdānāṃ śabdāś ca na pṛthak_ tataḥ apṛthaktve ca saṃbaṃdhas tayor nānātmanor iva

tattadupādhiparikalpitabhedabahutayā vyavatārasyāpi vidyābhūyastve pratiniyatākāro sthīyamānarūpabhedaṃ brahmaiva sarvaśabdaviṣaya ity ukto rtha ātmā brahma tatvam ity udayer hi pi śabdāḥ samavalaṃbitopādhayo py ātmānam anu parivarttaṃte nirupādhito vāgviṣayātītatvād vā manasātītaṃ hi tatvam ity upadiśaṃti brahmaviddaḥ yadi śabdāpekṣayā tv ātdiśabdāḥ pratyāsannāḥ sarvasya ca tanmayatvāchabdā api tadātmikāḥ yathāvibhaktaṃ prāk_ abhede pi ca pāramārthikasaṃvṛto lokayātrāyāṃ bhedo satya itīvaśabdaḥ ata eva dviṣṭasaṃbaṃdhopapattiḥ

nanu cedrajālam idaṃ yad avavṛtarūpabhedānām api bhāvānām anāvṛtya tatvam avasīyamānāparamārthatopadeśanam ity āśaṃkya dṛṣṭāṃtenaitat sādhayitum āha ||

ātmā paraḥ priyau dveṣyo vaktā vācyaṃ prayojanaṃ viruddhāni yathaikasya svapne rūpāṇi vetasaḥ ajanmani tathā nitye paurvāparyavivarjite tatve janmādvirūpatvaṃ viruddham upalyate

svupnāvasthāga¦taḥ prapaṃco jāgarayā bādhyamānatvād asatya iti sarvavādyabhyupagamaḥ tenaiva dṛṣṭāṃtena jāgarāyām api bhāvabheddas turīyadaśāyām ananuvṛtter asatyo vasthāpyate yat kiṃla sarvāvasthāsv anurātaṃ tad eva satyaṃ tac ca saṃvi¦nmātraṃ rūpam abādhyamānaṃ avasthābhedas tv āgamāpāyitvād bādhitaḥ sat sukhaduḥkhādivat_ tathā hi rāgādayaḥ sukhādayaś cāsvabhāvatvāt saṃdhinmātraṃ rūpaṃ na vikurvaṃti tathāvasthābhedo py anekākārabuddhyopahataḥ

tatra svapnaṃ viruddhakārollekhau vaikalpikī dṛṣṭiḥ pratipramātṛniyatā vaikalpikīti ko bhimāno vyāpārānusarī saṃsārī bhoktā sa ca bhāvatad acetanatvāt_ brahmaiva tathā ca tāvati svātaṃtryānimitāpīśvaro nanyopādānābhāvāt_ nābhāsyāyat__ tu priyāpriyarūpatayā rāgadveṣādimayena saṃsāramohena paravibhāgābhāgānusārī parasaṃkathādiṣu tadāhuḥ vedāṃtatatvanipuṇāḥ pravibhajyātmanātmānaṃ sṛṣṭvā bhāvān_ pṛthagvidhān sarvaiśvaraḥ sarvamayaḥ svapne bhoktā pravartate iti bhokteti pratyagātmasṛṣṭir iyam uktā tasya ca sarveśvara¦tvāt_ brahmarūpatve sṛṣṭisāmarthyam uktaṃ sarvamayatvāc cānanyopādānavidhitrabhāvasvanām ātmopājñānā¦¦m āhuḥ ata eva pravibhajyātmavātmānam iti kartṛkarmabhedābhāvāc ca vaikalpikatvam asya sṛṣṭeḥ sphuṭam uktaṃ bāhyopādānā ta jāgarāyām aiśvarī sṛṣṭir viśvaśabdavācyā sarvapramātṛsādhāraṇī

sviratvāsthiratvagrahāvedānimittas tu bhedaḥ avidyāpravṛttirūpatvāt_ punar asatyajā samānaiva kevalaṃ satyām avidyām aparo mohaś cichakter āvārako nidrā nāma tadaśād atraiva matatvābhimāne rvāgdṛśāṃ paramārthadṛśāṃ tu jananamaraṇarahitaiḥ pravibhakte kūṭasthe parasmin brahmaṇi cidānaṃdarūpe sarvam eva jagaj jāgratsvapnādyavasthāgataṃ mūrtikriyāvivartarūpaṃ sa sṛtsaptam acayi citsāmānyamātraṃ tu paramārtha iti siṃddha viruddhem upalabhyata iti vadan__n avidyāyāṃ virodham abhyupaiti etad eva ty avidyāyāḥ svarūpaṃ yad anupapadyamānam apy āsopagamaṃ nayati upapalabdhe vidhaiya syāt_ tasmād asatyaprapaṃcaprakāṃśanaśaktir brahmaṇo nādisiprā grāhyagrāhakayugalasvāḍarūpam uparacayā jagalādyam ātanotīty avicāritaramaṇīyām imām apanayaṃti tatvadṛśaḥ
