This manuscript is held in the Library of the Asiatic Society in Mumbai. It was formerly held at the Bhau Dāji memorial until 1882, when it was transferred to the Society. It is listed in the New Catalogus Catalogorum as Bhau Dāji 56 and BBRAS 53. The text is incomplete, breaking off after the 50th verse of the Sadhanasamuddeśa at the bottom of the recto side of the last folio, leaving the verso side blank. This transcript was made from a microfilm of the manuscript.

jātir vā dravyaṃ vā padārthāv ity uktaṃ | tatra vājapyāyanadarśane jātiṃ viśeṣaṇabhūtāṃ padārthatvena vyavasthathāpya vyāḍidarśanena viśeṣyabhūtaṃ dravyam api padārthaṃ vyavasthāpayituṃ yathādarśanaṃ tad eva paryāyāṃtarair uddiśati ||_
|| ātmā vastu svabhāvaś ca śarīraṃ tatvam ity api ||
śadravyam ity asya paryāyās tac ca nityam iti smṛtam || 1 ||_
ihārthakriyāyāṃ dravyam evopayujyata iti tad eva pravarttakam arthināṃ | ataś ca śabdena tad evocyate | anabhidhīyamānā tu jātir avachedikā | guḍaśabder mādhuryādaya iveti | dravyavādināṃ darśanaṃ | dravyaṃ ca dvividhaṃ | pāramārthikaṃ sāṃvyavahārikaṃ ca | tatra dvitīyaṃ bhedyaṃ | bhedakaprastāvena guṇasamuddeśe vakṣyati | vastūpalakṣaṇaṃ ityādinā | anena ca dravyeṇa vyāḍidarśane sarve śabdā dravyābhidhāyino bhavaṃti |
iha tu pāramārthikaṃ dravyaṃ nirūpyate | ta¦thā hi | ātmādvaitavādibhir ātmaśabdena tad dravyam uktaṃ | ātmaiva hy upādhibhinnaṃ pratibhāsamānaṃ dravyaṃ dānām artha iti teṣāṃ darśanaṃ | ihaiva vakṣyamāṇaṃ
vastu svalakṣaṇ__ṇakriyākāri dravyam iti śraukair uktaṃ |
svabhāva iti | sattādvaitavādibhiḥ svabhāva ātmabhūtā satteti kṛtvā | tathā hi | kramarūpopasaṃhāre sattaiva satvam iti | svasaṃbaṃ¦dhibhir upādhir ahitā sattābhedā sattaiva dravyaṃ |
prakṛter ekadeśaś cetanaḥ puruṣaḥ | tadvāreṇa śarīraśarīriṇor avyatirekāc charīraṃ dravyaṃ pradhānam eveti | prākṛtikaiḥ śarīram eva ātmā yeṣāṃ taiḥ śarīrātmabhir ucye | te
tatvam iti | catubhūtatatvavādibhiś cārvākai|s tatvam ucyate | pṛthivyaptejovāyur iti tatvāni | tatsamudāye śarīreṃdriyaviṣayasaṃjñā iti vacanāt | tad evam etaiḥ paramārthata ekam eva vastūcyate |
dravyam ity asyeti | dravyaṃ nāma yaḥ padārthas tasyaita eva paryāyāḥ | eteṣām eṣi pāramārthikarūpābhidhāyitvāt | nānye ghaṭādiśabdāḥ | saty api tadabhidhāyitve vakṣyamāṇanayenātmādiśabdānām eva sarvatra ghaṭādāv apy āhatasya pratyakṣatvaṃ | tathā ca bhāṣyaṃ | eko yam āLtmā udakaṃ nāmeti | atrātmaśabda udake prayujyamāno dravyavacanaḥ | ākṛtidvāreṇa cānye śabdāḥ dravye varttaṃte ime tu tatparityāgena mukhyayā dravyavṛttyeti viśeṣaḥ | siddhe śabdārthasaṃbaṃdha ity atra dravyaṃ nityam ākṛtir anyā cānyā ca bhavatīti vadatā bhāṣyakāreṇa nityaṃ dravyaṃ smṛtaṃ | saṃgrahoktasya tasyārthasyānuvādāt_ smṛtam ity āha |
yady api ca śaktyādidarśane nityaṃ na bhavati dravyaṃ | tathāpi tanmatasyānabhyupagamād adoṣaḥ | kevalaṃ yad asmākaṃ dravyaṃ tad anyair abhidhīyata ity evam atropanyāsaḥ | yad vā | bhāṣyānusāreṇa sva¦rūpānyathātvānāpattir vikārabhede pi nityatvaṃ vivakṣitam ity atreti sarvatra tat siddhiḥ |
evaṃ darśanāṃtareṣv api śrayenoddiṣṭeṣv api dravyabhedeṣu svasiddhāṃtāśrayeṇa svābhāvikīṃ dravyapadārthavyavasthāṃ karttum āha ||_
|| satyaṃ vastu tadākārair asatyair avadhāryate ||
asatyopādhibhiḥ śabdaiḥ satyam evābhidhīyate || 2 ||_
|| iha sarvaśabdānāṃ pāramamārthitkatkaṃ tatvaṃ sākṣāt spraṣṭum aśaktānām anekopādhiviṣayanihitapadānāṃ tadrūpālliṃgānāṃ vyavahāre samālakṣya upādhīnāṃ cāgamāpāya eva śabdavidhur iti nijasvarūpāṇām arthisārthasamāśāpūraṇapratihataśaktitvān na tāvaty eva paryavasānam ity upalakṣitarūpapṛṣṭhapātinaḥ śabdā vyavasthāpyaṃte | avadhṛtarūpaniveśitvāc ca śabdānām avadhāraṇāt tu sāmye rthe pratipattiḥ | avadhṛtisvākāradvāreṇa nirākārasya budhyupārohāyogāt | yathāprātyayaṃ ca bhedāvasāyasya bādhyamānatvād anupādhy abhinnam eva rūpaṃ | paramārthatas tad eva brahmarūpaṃ satyaṃ |
syād etat | upādhiṣu śabdānāṃ viśrāṃtyabhāve śabdārthopādhitvaṃ teṣāṃ na syāt | avācyasya tadupādhitvāyogād ity etad vicāyarayitum āha ||_
|| adhruveṇa nimittena devadattagṛhaṃ yathā ||
gṛhītaṃ gṛhaśabdena śuddham evābhidhīyate || 3 ||_
|| ādau devadattasya gṛhaṃ yatrāsau kākaḥ prativasatīty atra niyatasvāmikagrahopalakṣaṇabhūtasya kākasya utpatite pi tasmin_ upalakṣaṇasya kṛtatvād adhruvatvam anityatvam iti tadādareṇaiva tadupalakṣaṇagṛ¦hītam abhidhīyate gṛhasaṃbaṃdhena yathā tathā prakṛtasaṃbaṃdhād asatyopādhyupalakṣitaṃ satyam upādhirūpānādareṇa śabdair abhidhīyata iti | abhidhīyamānasyābhidhānaviṣayaniyāmakatvād upalakṣaṇatve saty upādhidarśanena samarthitaṃ | tathā hi | ktaktavatū niṣṭhety ananubaṃdhasyāprayogasamavāyitvād adhyupalakṣaṇatvena tadrahitasya śuLddhasya pratyayarūpasya saṃjñāprasaṃga ity atredaṃ bhāṣye darśanam upa|ktaṃ |
nanu kāko sti vilakṣaṇo gṛhād bhedenāvadhāryamāṇo mā bhūd gṛhaśabdābhidheyaḥ | ghaṭādayas tv ākārāḥ pṛthaganupalabhyamānatvāt katham iva tacchabdair nābhidhīyeran | anyo hy upādhir upalakṣaṇabhūtaḥ sāmādhikaraṇyenāvachedakaḥ | tad yathā | iti hariḥ | paśur ity atra paśuḥ | anyatra viśeṣaṇam apṛthak_śabdavācyam uparaṃjakaṃ | tad yathā | vāneyam udakam iti | vanasaṃbaṃdhopādhīyamānarūpaviśeṣam udakam abhidhīyata iti | vanasaṃbaṃdho viśeṣaṇam uparaṃjakatayābhidheyakam āpadyata iti | tathā coktaṃ | arthaviśeṣa upādhis tadaṃtavācyasamānaśabde yaḥ | anupādhir anto nyaḥ syāc chlāghādiviśeṣaṇaṃ yadvad ity āśaṃkya sadṛśataram ity atra nidarśanam āha ||_
|| suvarṇādi yathā yuktaṃ svair ākārair upādhibhiḥ ||
rucakādyabhidhānānāṃ śuddham evaiti vācyatām || 4 ||_
|| rucakakuṃḍalādyākāraviśeṣopādhīyamānarūpabhedam api suvarṇam ity eva sarvatropādhirūpaṃ satyam ity apāyibhir ākāraviśeṣais tatsādhyārthakriyākāraṇān na tatraiva rucakādidiśabdāḥ kṛtapadabaṃdhāḥ | kiṃ tu tadatiricyamānaśarīram arthād vastv abhidhāyakena samāviśaṃti | tadvat prakṛtisaṃbaṃdhād āropāhitanātvam api paratatvaṃ śabdagocara ity arthaḥ | atraivopādhibhir iti hetunirddeśaḥ | sādhyasamakakṣatayā kṛtaḥ | tataś copādhīnām asatyatvam avācyatvaṃ ca sidhyati | asatyatvād evārthakriyākāraṇāt tadartha ca śabdavyavahārād avācyatvam atas teṣām ity arthaḥ |
nanu rucakādau prakṛtyanvayo vadhāryate | evam ihāpi vastūnāṃ jñāyamānatvena satvāt | jñānasya vaikalpikākārasyānavasthānān nirākāraśuddhasaṃvinmātrānugamasya svasaṃvit_siddhatvād adoṣaḥ | nanu viśeṣaṇoparaktaṃ viśeṣyābhidhānaṃ yuktam ity upasarjanībhūtasyābhidhāne kā kṣatiḥ | na kevalam upādhiṣv evātrāpi tātparyaṃ | dṛṣṭvā padabaṃdho nivāryate | guṇatvena tv abhidhānam astu | na ca tāvaty eva viśrāṃtir iti dravyaniṣṭhatāsiddhiḥ |
ata eva viśeṣaṇoparāgāt sāṃkaryadoṣaṃ pariharttum āha ||_
|| ākāraiś ca vyavachedāt sārvārthyam avarudhyate ||
yathaiva cakṣurādīnāṃ sāmarthyaṃ nālikādibhiḥ || || ||_
|| sarvabhāveṣu brahmaṇo dravyalakṣaṇasyābhedāt | tadabhidhāyitve śabdānāṃ sarvatra tasya bhāvāt_ sārvārthyaṃ śabdāṃtarābhidhīyamānārthatvaṃ sāṃkaryaṃ prasa¦Ljyetety atredam ucyate | pratiniyatākāraparichinnavṛttitvāt sarvārthatvapratibaṃdhād asaṃkara ity arthaḥ |
ghaṭākāropadhānapuraḥsaraṃ ghaṭaśabdena brahmadravyam abhimukhīkriyate | paṭākāropadhānena tu paṭaśabdenety upādhirūpopahitavivekitvam abhidhānīyaṃ | tad yathā | nālikāsuṣiravartmanihitanayanās tadavakāśāvasthitam evārthabhāgaṃ¦ paśyaṃti | tathāvidyāvachinnapṛthak_śaktibhir ākārabhedair eva vastūpalakṣyate | tathaiva ca yathādhyavasāyaṃ śabdaniveśāc chabdair abhidhīyata ity arthaḥ |
yathā āvaraṇādiṃ¦driyasyaiva prakāśaśaktiḥ pratibadhyate | tena viṣayo vikriyate | tathānādyāvidyāvachedaprakalpitavibhāgānāṃ jīvānām eva saṃvedanaśaktir niyamyate | yena vi¦¦chinnārthābhimām__nena bhedaviṣayāṇy abhidhānāni prayujyaṃte | na tu tatvam avidyayā āvilīkriyata iti nālikānidarśanena sūcayati | nālikādibhir ityādi | grahaṇād avaghānabhūpratighātamūrttyabhijanādyavarodhaḥ | yatraiva vyavadhānaṃ tad evāvadhāryate | mūrttyabhijano rūpasauṃdaryaṃ | tenāpahṛto nyaṃ na paśyati |
yena tarhy ākāramātraniveśinaḥ sanniveśādiśabdās te dharmamātram abhidadhyur iti na sārvatrikī | dravyapadārthavyavasthābhidhīyetety āśaṃkyāha ||_
|| teṣv ākāreṣu yaḥ śabdas tathābhūteṣu varttate ||
tatvātmakatvāt tenāpi nityam evābhidhīyate || 6 ||_
|| upādhisvabhāveṣv api sanniveśādyākāreṣu sanniveśādiśabdo varttamānaḥ paramārthatas tatvād avyatirekād upādhīnāṃ tanniṣkarṣe svarūpasyāsvarūpatvād ātmany eva satvāt tad eva nityam upādhimallīnatā | tadā dravyam evam apy abhidhāne nihitaṃ bhavati tatvam ātmā hy upādhīnāṃ | na tu kevalasyātmāna iti vyāpakatvāt sarva evopādhayaḥ | tadātmanā sattayaivābhidhīyaṃte | tadā hy upādhimallīnatā | tadopādheya u¦¦pādhayo na bhavaṃti | tatas tu niṣkarṣe dharmāṃtarāśrayatayā svātaṃtryād upādhitvam eva nopādhitvam iti bhāvaḥ |
yady evaṃ | dharmāṇām apy avasthāṃtare dharmirūpatvān nityatve satyatve cākārāṇām anityatvaṃ | avayavadravyasya tu satyatva nityatve tasya niyamasyānupapattir ity āśaṃkyāha ||_
|| na tatvātatvayor bheda iti vṛddhebhya āgamaḥ ||
atatvam iti manyaṃte tatvam evāvicāritam || 7 ||_
asyāyam atrārthaḥ | nehādvaitanaye satyāsatye dve rūpe staḥ | advaitahāniprasaṃgāt | kiṃ tu pāramārthikam e¦Lvādvayaṃ tatvaṃ | tac cānādisiddhāvidyāvilasitasahapramātṛviṣayatayā tathātvam anavabhāsamānam iti anekavikalpaparighaṭitākārarūpatayā vyavahāram anusarati | tathā ca tad evākāranānātvonnīyamānasvarūpabhedaṃ cakāsti | nānyat | tadvyatiriktasyānyasyābhāvāt |
tathā ca yo yaṃ prakāśaḥ sā vidyā | aprakāśas tu tamo vi¦dyā na ca prakāśābhā | prakāśo nāma kaścit pramāṇasiddho nirūpyaḥ | tataś ca yo yaṃ bhedaprakāśaḥ | saivaikaghanaprakāśābhāvaḥ | prakāśavichedo vidyā | tatra ca vichedānvachinnānnānvayo vichedo vadhāryata iti vichittir aprakāśaḥ | sato | vidyaiva vichedamātraṃ | tv apradhāsvabhāvaṃ na kiṃcid avidyeti | paramārthatatve kiṃcid yat tatvaṃ vyavatiṣṭhate | tatvam eva¦ yathāpratibhāsaṃ bhedena cāvakāśād iti vicāritaramaṇīyaṃ | prapaṃco tatvam iti | vyavahriyata iti brahmavidaḥ | tathā cāvicāritaramaṇīyaṃ parīkṣayā vyavasthitaṃ tatvam evātyaṃtatīrthikā bhedadarśanavyavasthitā bhedātmakam atatvaṃ manyaṃta iti vicāreṇāvidyāvilaye brahmaikaniṣṭhatayā darśanānāṃ | tad uktaṃ | satyā viśuddhis tatroktā vidyaive¦tyādi |
evaṃ tena tena rūpeṇa brahmaiva vikalpitaṃ bhavatīti sarvaśabdānāṃ tata upādhimukhaṃ tad eva viṣayaḥ siddha ity āha ||_
|| vikalparūpaṃ bhajate tatvam evāvikalpitam |
na cātra kālabhedo sti kālabhedaś ca gṛhyate || 8 ||_
|| paramārthato vikalpitaṃ vikalpānām aviṣayaḥ | yat tatvaṃ tad eva vyavahāre py asti | svabhāvād vikalpyamānaṃ vikalparūpaṃ nānāvidhabhedāvabhāsamānādisiddhāvidyāvaśāt_ sarvam avalaṃbate | jīvātmabhedenāvatiṣṭhamānaṃ tadgatatveneti vivarttāśrayādik|śaktipravibhakte nānātvanimittapaurvāparyāvalaṃbanasahaṃ | evaṃ kālakalpitam api tatvam anādinidhānaṃ kālākhyaṃ svātaṃtryaśaktiviniveśitapratibaṃdhābhyanujñāvaśāj janmādibhāvavikārāvidhīyamānapaurvāparyaṃ cakāstīty arthaḥ |
nanv avidyamānasya tatvena pratibhānam ayuktam ity āśaṃkya dṛṣṭāṃtenopapādayati ||_
|| yathā viṣayadharmāṇāṃ jñāne tyaṃtam asaṃbhavaḥ ||
tadātmeva ca saṃsiddham atyaṃtamahadātmakam || 9 ||_
vijñānavāde bāhyākārasya bhāvato satyatvān nīlādi tadgato dharmo jaḍo jaḍe asaṃbhavo tyaṃtam iti jaḍājaḍaauyo2r na kenacid aṃśena sārūpyam ity āha | tathā coktaṃ | ekadeśena sārūpye saṃvit syāt sarvavedanaṃ | sarvātmanā tu sārūpye saṃvit syāt sajñānam ajñānatāṃ vrajed iti |
athavā | saṃbhavi¦Ldharmāchuritaṃ vijñānaṃ viśuddhabodhasvabhāvam apy avidyāyāṃ vyavahāre vabhāsata iti iṣṭuṃ nidarśanāṃtaram apy āha ||_
|| yathā vikārarūpāṇāṃ tatve tyaṃtam asaṃbhavaḥ ||
tadātmaiva ca tat tatvam atyaṃtam atadātmakam || 10 ||_
|| sāṃkhyāvikṛtapradhānatvaṃ | sarvavikāragraṃthi bījāvastham abhinnam anupasṛṣṭam eva mahadādirūpaiḥ paramārthataḥ tad dhi mahadādivikāraśaktiyuktaṃ guṇasāmyāvasthātmakaṃ | guṇavaiṣamyavaśopajāyamānavikāranānātvād vilakṣaṇam eva | atha ca vyavahāre mahadādirūvikārarūpāvadhāraṇena tadupalaṃbhāsaṃbhava iti | sarvadarśaneṣv avidyānvayinī | evam asatyākāro pradhānena ca tatvapratibhāsaḥ siddha iti sādhyānvayo gṛhītaḥ |
kathaṃ punar etad avagamyate | ākārā asatyās tato nyat_ satyam ity āha ||_
|| satyam ākṛtisaṃhāre yad aṃte vyavatiṣṭhate ||
tan nityaṃ śabdavācyaṃ tac chabdāt tatvaṃ na vidyate || 11 ||_
|| tad eva hi nityaṃ yasmiṃs tatvaṃ na vihanyata iti bhāṣyāśrayanusāreṇaitad ucyate | tathā hi | kanakam ity eva satyaṃ | punar aparayā ākṛtyā yuktaḥ khadirāṃgāra¦savarṇaḥ kuṃḍale bhavataḥ | ity anenaiva nityasya brahmaṇaḥ satyatocyate | dṛṣṭāṃtena vikārāpekṣayā bhinnasya brahmaṇaḥ satyatocyate | tathā hi | tatra rucakādyākāropamarddanena suvarṇam ity eva satyaṃ | evam anaṃtavikāragrāmāpāye savato ṃte vatiṣṭhamānopādhirūpaṃ satyaṃ | tad eva ca bhavato nityaṃ | apekṣitaṃ tu jātyādīnāṃ vyavahāre¦ nityatvam ucyate | tathā hi | vyaktyapāye jātir avatiṣṭhamānā gotvādikā tikā tatrāpy aśvatvāpāye dibhedāpāye pṛthivīty eva satyaṃ | tatrāpy aśvatvādibhedāpāye vastv ity eva satyaṃ | sarvanāmapratyāyyaṃ | tatrāpi saṃvidrūpasyānuyāyinānavagamād viṣayākāraviveke tad eva pāramārthikaṃ satyam iti | neti netīty upāsīteti bhāvanayā codyate | saṃvic ca paśyaṃtī parār vāk_ chabdabrahmamayīti brahmatatvaṃ | śabdāt pāramārthikaṃ na bhidyata iti vivarttadaśāyāṃ tu vaivaryātmanā bhedaḥ | tatra ca tad eva nityaṃ jātyādirūpeṇeti śabdavācyaṃ | tatrāṃtaropādānaśabdaviṣayaviśrāṃtyā vācakatvasya vyavasthāpanāt | svarūpāṃtargatasyārthasya vācyatvād vācyavācakayor avibhāgaḥ siddha iti prathamakāṃḍe nirṇītam | ata evānaṃtaram ihābhidhāsyati | tasya śabdārthasaṃbaṃdharūpam ekasya dṛśyata iti |
yad uktaṃ | tadātmeva¦Lva ca tat tattvam atyaṃtam atadātmakam iti | tatrātyaṃtam atadātmakatāṃ tāvad vyācaṣṭe ||_
|| na tad asti na tan nāsti na tad ekaṃ natpṛtat pṛthak ||
na saṃsṛṣṭaṃ vibhaktaṃ vā vikṛtaṃ na ca nānyathā || 12 ||_
|| vaikārikasarvavyavahārātītatvāt pāramārthikena rūpeṇa vikārātmakaṃ tatvaṃ na bhavati | tathā hi | astīti na śakyate vyavaharttuṃ | satvopādhikasya svarūpasya tatvasvabhāvayogāt tenātmanā vyavahārānavatārāt | nāpi nāstīty atyaṃtābhāvopādhikasyāpy anyatvāt pramāṇena bhāvātmakasya tatvasyāveditatvād
ekasaṃkhyopādhīyamānarūpaviśeṣaṃ tatvaṃ na bhavati | nirupādhitatvasya vastuto bhinnatvāt | tathā caikam ity apratīter nāpi pṛthaktvāhitaviśeṣaṃ | tadbhinnasyāsatyatvāt |
nāpi saṃsargopādhikaṃ | vā | tato dvitīyasya pramāṇenānupapatteḥ | kuto bhinnaṃ vibhaktaṃ ca kena vā visṛṣṭaṃ syāt |
pariṇāmaniṣedhena vivarttābhyupagamān na vikṛtaṃ | anekabhāvagrāmarūpatayā vātyadbhutayā vṛttyā vivarttanād avikṛtam ity api na śakyate vyavaharttum iti sarvavyapadeśātītatvaṃ paraṃ brahma |
atha ca tadātmaivāviṣayam avadhāryata ity āha ||_
tan nāsti vidyate tac ca tad ekaṃ tat pṛthak_ pṛthak ||
saṃsṛṣṭaṃ ca vibhaktaṃ ca vikṛtaṃ tat tad anyathā || 13 ||_
|| bhāvābhāvavikārāvabhāsajananaśakti tad e¦vāsti nāsti ca | sattāsattopādhikavyavahārasad bhāvatas tan niḥsattāsattaṃ niḥsadasat paraṃ brahma vyāvahārikaṃ caikānekavyavahāraṃ jātivyaktyātmanā tad eva varttayati | saṃkhyopādhikam api ca | evaṃ saṃyogopādhikam api ca | anyasaṃsargitayāvabhāsanāt | evaṃ vivekāvasāyaḥ | tatra yathā samastavikārātmanā janyamānam ivākāśādyātmanā kūṭastha tad evāvabhāsata iti tadātmaiva tatvam ity uktaṃ |
evaṃ ca kṛtvā tanmayatvāvirodhino pi vyavahāras tatraivopalīyata ity āha ||_
|| tasya śabdārthasaṃbaṃdharūpam ekaṃ hi dṛśyate ||
tad dṛśye darśanaṃ draṣṭā darśane ca prayojanam || 14 ||_
|| vācyavācakasaṃbaṃdhānāṃ bhāvato dvayarūpato tatra hy āṃta¦rataḥ śrutyarthaśaktī saṃsṛjyete iti vivarttadaśāyāṃ śrutyarthaśākhātmanā tasyaiva vikāsād vācyavācakarūpatayā bhedavattāsau jñānajñeyaivaṃ vidheti brahmāṃḍa evaṃ prapaṃcam artho smābhir nirṇīta iti tata evāvadhāryaṃ |
tatra sa rūpatayā ca tasyaiva vivarttaḥ | tathā hi | dṛśyaṃ tāvad bhavajātaṃ saṃvidrūpaṃ vedyatvāt | evaṃ cedam aLnekaprakāśaparamārthasya prakāśayogād iti pūrvakāṃḍe dvaitasiddhau ca vitatya vicāritaṃ | draṣṭāt tu jīvātmā api cākṛtāvachedo niyataḥ | satvasaṃsārī bhoktā brahmaiva | cetanatvāt | tato bhedānupapatter iti tatraivopapāditaṃ | anena ca pradhānakartṛkarmarūpakārakaniścayena kārakāṃtarasyākṣepasiddharūpo vivarttaḥ pratipādi¦taḥ |
darśanaśabdena ca pradhānakriyānirdeśenaikakriyāṃtasyākṣepekṣā sādhyasvabhāvaḥ kriyāvivartto py uktaḥ | kāraṇaśaktyavachinnā hi kriyāvivarttā divaśakyāvachinnasya mūrttir vivartta iti mūrttakriyāvivarttarūpaṃ viśvaṃ pratipāditaṃ |
prayojanaśabdena ca samabhikriyāphala iti nirddeśa iti sādhyasādhanaphalarūpatayā viśvasaṃkalanāyām aśeṣavivarttānuguṇyaṃ | brahmaṇaḥ pratipāditasyaikasya sarvabījasya ceyam anekadhā bhoktṛbhoktavyarūpeṇa bhogarūpeṇa ca sthitir iti brahmakāṃḍe pratipāditaṃ | tatraiva satatvanirṇayo smābhir vyavadhāyi | prakhyopātmakatvāt | vyavahārasya nitye śabdārthasaṃbaṃdharūpaṃ dṛśyadarśanaṃ ceti bhedenātra nirddeśaḥ | etac cāvidyāmayaṃ¦ rūpaṃ kathyate | pāramārthikaṃ tu praśāṃtaḥ prapaṃcarūpaṃ vakṣyati | yatra īṣyāvaśāt dṛśyaṃ ca darśanaṃ cāpi kalpitaṃ tasyaivārthasya nityatvaṃ śritās te tyaṃtavedina iti
yuktam idam | akṛtasaṃhāre ṃte yad avatiṣṭhate | tat satyam iti | tatraitat syāt | tad anena kiṃcid avatiṣṭhate | asad apadam evaitad viśvam āvirbhavatīty āśaṃkyāpi hetunābhinna¦kāraṇapūrvakatvam anvayamukhena dṛṣṭāṃtopakramaṃ sādhayitum āha ||_
|| vikārāpagame satyaṃ suvarṇaṃ kuṃḍalair yathā ||
vikārāpagame satyāṃ tathāhuḥ prakṛtiṃ parāṃ || 15 ||_
|| kuṇḍalaṃ svātmavikārāpāye dve kuṇḍale suvarṇam ekaṃ satyam avatiṣṭhate | yathā tathā vikārāpagame pṛthivyādivikārapagame tv apāyinī prakṛtir abhinnā¦ saty avatiṣṭhata ity abhyupeyaṃ | āhur ity āgamasiddhatāṃ dhvanati brahmaṇaḥ | tathā coktaṃ | ekam eva yad āmnātam iti | ātmaivedaṃ satyam iti śrutiḥ | upodbalamātraṃ cā¦rumānaṃ | tathā hi | nirupākhyād asato parāt prādurbhāvo na yuktiḥ | abhāvasya bhāvarūpatvavi|rodhāt | na hi śaśaśṛṃgāt kasyacid udbhavo vidyate | asti ca vijñānarūpatayā jagaty anvaya iti tpūrvam evaitat | tathā cakṣyati | nābhāvo vijāyate bhāvo naikabhāvo hy upākhyatām iti cidrūpasya cicchaktiḥ | pariṇāminīti viLkāratvābhāvān nedaṃ sāṃkhyanayavatpariṇāmadarśanaṃ | api tu vivarttapakṣaḥ | viśeṣaś cānayor vākyapadīye smābhir vyākhyātam iti tata evāvadhāryaṃ | ihāpi saṃbaṃdhasa¦muddeśe vakṣyati | kāraṇāṃtaravyudāsaś cādvayasiddhau abhihita iti saty arthitve tata evāvagaṃtavyaḥ |
tad evam ātmaśabdābhidheyasya brahmaṇaḥ padārthaparamārtharūpatvāt | dravyarūpatvam upapādya sarvaśabdavācyatvaṃ tasyaiva nigamayitum āha ||_
|| vācyā sā sarvaśabdānāṃ śabdāś ca na pṛthak_ tataḥ ||
apṛthaktve ca saṃbaṃdhas tayor nānātmanor iva || 16 ||
|| tadupādhiparikalpitabhedabahutayā vyavahārasyāpi vidyābhūyastve pratiniyatākārotthīyamānarūpabhedaṃ brahmaiva sarvavidyāviṣaya ity ukto rthaḥ | ātmā brahma tatvam ity ukte pi hi śabdāḥ samavalaṃbitopādhayo py ātmānam anu parivarttaṃte | nirupādhino vā viṣayātītatvād vā manasātītaṃ hi tatvam ity upapadiśaṃti | brahmavidas tu ya¦di śabdāpekṣayā tv ātmādiśabdāḥ pratyāsannāḥ | sarvasya ca tanmayatvāc chabdā api tadātmakāḥ | yathācittaṃ ¯¯śaktyabhede pi ca pāramārthikaṃ saṃsṛṣṭato traikayātrāyāṃ bhedo satya itīvaśabdaḥ | ata eva dviṣṭhasaṃbaṃdhopapattiḥ |
nanu ceṃdrajālam idaṃ yad avadhṛtam upabhedānām api saṃbhāvanāsādhyasaṃbhāvanām anādṛtya tatvam avasīyamānāparamārthatopadeśanam ity āśaṃkya dṛṣṭāṃtenaitat sādhayitum āha ||_
ātmā paraḥ priyo dveṣyo vaktā vācyaṃ prayojanaṃ ||
viruddhāni yathaikasya svapne rūpāṇi cetasaḥ || 17 ||
|| ajanmani tathā nitye paurvāparyavivarjite ||
tatve janmādirūpatvaṃ viruddham upalabhyate || 18 ||_
|| svapnāvasthāgataḥ prapaṃco jāgarayā bādhyamānatvād asatya iti sarvabādhābhyupagamaḥ | tenaiva dṛṣṭāṃtena jāgarāyām api bhāvabhedaḥ | turīyadaśāyām anananuvṛtter asatyo vyavasthāpyate | yat kila sarvāvasthāsv anugataṃ tad eva satyaṃ tac ca saṃvinmātraṃ rūpam abādhyamānam avasthābhedas tv āgamāpāyitvād bādhito sat sukhaduḥkhādivat | tathā hi | rāgādayaḥ sukhādayaś ca svabhāvatvāt saṃvinmātraṃ rūpaṃ na vikurvaṃti | tathā bhedo py anekākāratuṣṭyopahataḥ |
tac ca svapne viruddhakārollekhe sārvatrikī dṛṣṭiḥ pratimātṛniyata vaikalpikīti ko bhimāno vyāpārānusārī saṃsārī bhoktā | su ca bhāvatad acetanāt | brahmaiva ca tathā ca tāvati svātaṃtryam ity apīśvaro naṃtyopādānābhāvāt | nābhyāsyāyatta priyāpriyarūpatayā rāgadveṣāLdimayena saṃsāramohena paraṃ vibhāgānusārī parasaṃkathanād iti | tathāhur vedāṃtatatvanipuṇāḥ | pravibhajyātmanātmānaṃ sṛṣṭvā bhāvān_ pṛthagvidhān | sarveśvaraḥ sarvamayaḥ sarvabhoktā pravarttate | iti | bhokteti pratyagātmasiddhir iyam uktā | tasya ca sarveśvaratvāt_ brahmarūpatve sṛṣṭisāmarthyam uktaṃ | sarvaviṣayatvāc cānanyopādānavicitrasvabhāvam ātmopājñānam āhuḥ | ata eva pravibhajyātma|nātmānam iti kartṛkarmabhedābhāvād vaikalpikatvam asvasṛṣṭeḥ sphuṭam uktaṃ | bāhyopādānā tu jāgarāyām aiśvarī sṛṣṭir viśvaśabdavācyā | sarvapramātṛviṣayiṇī |
sthiratvāsthiratvagrahā|vedanānimittas tu bhedaḥ | avidyāpravṛttirūpatvāt punar asya satyatā samānaiva | kevalaṃ | satyām avidyā paramo mohaś cicchakter āvarako nidrā nāma | tadvaśād atraiva bhrāṃtatvābhimāne yā dṛśaṃ | nanu jananamaraṇarahitaiḥ pravibhakte kūṭasthair vāsmin brahmaṇi cidānaṃdarūpe sarvam eva jagaj jāgratsvapnādyavasthāgataṃ mūrttikriyāvivarttasaṃsṛtsam anvayicitsāmānyamātraṃ tu paramārtha iti siddhaṃ viruddham upalabhyata iti vedanavidyāyāṃ virodham abhyupaiti | yat tad eva hy avidyāyāḥ svarūpaṃ yat tad anupapadyamānam apy apagamaṃ nāpaiti | upapannatve vidyaiva syāt | tasmād asatyaprapaṃcaprakāśaśaktir brahmaṇo nādisiddhā | grāhyagrāhakayugena svānurūpam upacāratayā jagannāṭyam ātanotīty avicāritaramaṇīyam āmanaṃti tatvadṛśaḥ ||_
